At first, my thoughts are, ok, make the selfconscious flat girls, even more self-conscious. But then again, it's a comedy. We probably see this flat chested girl as the beautiful girl that she really is. If they bought the rights, and it's a great hit! I can't imagine why it wouldn't be a hit here too! Unless it would be too politically incorrect.

The problem though is thus far the novelas that are so popular in the latin american markets has not translated to the mainstream american markets yet. See the way they have failed on the "MyNetwork" channels...

I think that there is potential for this to work though. Yet look at the schedules in general. Ifo ne network finds a good show that has a marketable thing or something that can be duplicated in some way, there are always take offs.

BJ and The Bear and Dukes Of Hazzard starteed on tv about a season apart, both of them had a "good old boy vs corrrput cops" type storyline. The CSI & Law and Order are another more recent example. The PI shows of the 70s-80s are another.

The key is going to bring something new for this while staying true to the concept of the show.

Honestly, these "novelas" are sometimes more interesting than some TV shows. I think they can strike gold again.

I hate to judge things before seeing them, but they hit gold with Ugly Betty. A family show that anyone can relate to that also directly markets itself to many untapped viewers in a warm and realistic way...Ugly Betty is amazing. I don't see them striking gold twice, personally.
