Andrea Bowen OUT On Housewives!

Andrea Bowen OUT On Housewives!

Posted by Dustin on 05.21.2008 at 2:34 am

This news really has me upset. Andrea Bowen, who plays Susan’s daughter Julie, is officially out on “Desperate Housewives.” She will not be a part of the cast next season!

I had known Lynette’s kids would be going, but I had no idea they would not bring back Julie! Dylan and Bree’s daughter Danielle also are not going to return either.

The possibility for Andrea to return to the show in a later season however has not been all together ruled out.

Desperate Housewives: The Season Finale Part Two

Desperate Housewives: The Season Finale Part Two

Posted by Dustin on 05.20.2008 at 10:36 pm

The second hour of the “DH” finale began the next morning after Wayne had kidnapped Adam . . .

Katherine found herself at the police station to report Adam being missing and her suspecting Wayne. She was reminded years ago when she tried to report Wayne for beating her that because of his cop status, nobody would help her, and she was advised to run. Once again, the cop she talked to knew Wayne and didn’t believe her, he believed Wayne’s stories that she was nuts.

Katherine went home to pack her things and when Dylan wouldn’t leave, Katherine told her the truth. Dylan ran off in tears, and of course we didn’t hear the secret just yet.

Meanwhile the four girls had their poker game and were all discussing Katherine, basically how they didn’t really like her too much. Bree was the only one who defended her, until Katherine showed up and told Bree she was leaving and she couldn’t help plan the wedding anymore. That ticked off Bree, who had to hire the girls to help her. Oh you know that is going to turn out to be a disaster!

Julie found out she got into Princeton. Not only that, but she was leaving the following week as she got a summer internship. Susan didn’t want to let her go just yet, but eventually did. I honestly didn’t understand the purpose of this little storyline at all. I have a feeling it will become important though. Susan kept commenting about this strange professor who gave Julie the internship and what did they know about him. Could he end up being her new hubby in the 5 year jump? I’m thinking that, or Julie ends up married to him.

Over to Carlos, who told Gabby she would either have to get a job or stop shopping, as they were broke and in major debt. Of course this is when Ellie, on the run, calls begging Gabby to bring her a teddy bear she left in her closet, saying it was a gift from her dad. Okay this is the same dad that ran out on her, so she cherishes it why? She needed to come up with a better story there. Gabby found the bear, and also the insane amount of money Ellie stuffed in it! Clearly it wasn’t the bear she wanted.

Bree and Lynette met with Bob and Lee about the wedding preparations. They were arguing over an ice sculpture, Lee wanted an enchanted castle but Bob wanted a cherub. Lee eventually caved and gave up his “dream” sculpture. Tom told him if he was going to cave that easily, he would spend this whole marriage being pushed around. Lee then stood his ground and Bob said he could have the sculpture. However once Lee left, Bob insisted they go with the cherub and he’d just but Lee some nice jewelry or something to make up for it! Lynette asked “are you sure you haven’t been married before?”

Wayne continued to beat Adam to the point it appeared Adam was dead. Fortunately he wasn’t, he faked being dead and after Wayne left him, Adam ran for it. Walking around bloody, a man in a car stopped to offer him help. Adam then pulled him out of his car and stole his car! Jeeze, couldn’t he have just asked the guy to drive him where he needed to go? This isn’t “Grand Theft Auto” Adam!

The wedding day arrived, and Bree had to drive out to get the ice sculpture when it wasn’t set to be delivered. Of course her car broke down and she ended up trying to get the sculpture to the wedding in a baby stroller! Orson showed up to rescue her once again, and she got the sculpture to the wedding, though it’s wings had fallen off and it was badly melting. Bree finally forgave Orson, which we could see coming.

Lee saw that Bob went behind his back and got the cherub, which infuriated him. He said Tom was right, he was sick of being pushed around so the ceremony was off. Lynette told Tom he had to fix this or tell Bree he ruined this wedding! Lynette and Tom sat them down and Tom told Lee and Bob that these were the little things really, not the big ones like a tornado hitting your house or your spouse getting cancer, so if they couldn’t move past them and agree the person they were with was worth it then they were better off not getting married. Lee and Bob agreed they were worth it and the wedding was back on. Once again Tom made big steps in redeeming himself. I was starting to really hate Tom thanks to Kayla.

Meanwhile Ellie called Gabby back asking where her bear was, realizing Gabby had obviously found the money hidden in it. Ellie told her she was coming for her money and would throw acid in Gabby’s face if it wasn’t all there. Gabby told Carlos it was time to call the cops. Ellie showed up and she and Gabby had a fight over the bear. When the cops finally showed, Ellie ran out and mingled in with the wedding guests to hide. It seems like Gabby and Carlos made out like bandits and got to keep the money. We never got any closure there.

Wayne meanwhile showed up at Katherine’s and held a gun on her. She told him to kill her, she wouldn’t tell him what he wanted to know. Wayne threatened to kill Dylan, but Katherine said they fought and she ran off, she might not come back ever so Wayne was screwed! She also pointed out if she turned up dead then he would have no alibi, he’d be their main suspect. Unfortunately for Ellie, she happened to walk in and Wayne shot her! He not only shot her, he did so with Katherine’s gun.

Outside, Bree learned Katherine hadn’t left town, she was at her house. Furious that Katherine dumped the whole wedding on her, she ran to confront her, only to be taken hostage by Wayne. Wayne threatened to kill Bree if Katherine wouldn’t talk. This forced Katherine to finally reveal the truth trough a big flashback.

Katherine ended up going to stay with . . . Mary Alice! Yes we got to see Mary Alice again. She thought they were safe there, but Wayne snuck in to give Dylan a doll. Katherine took the doll from her and put it on a bookshelf. She then confronted Wayne, that’s when she clubbed him with a candle stick. He then left, vowing to come back. Katherine’s aunt then found Dylan dead! She had tried to climb the bookshelf to get the doll and it fell on top of her. Her aunt convinced her that Wayne would pin this on her, they had to bury Dylan, which they did. She then got another little girl from a Romanian orphanage who looked remarkably like Dylan. That I have to say was a tad twisted, the whole “replacing your daughter” thing. But they explained it well enough, that when Katherine saw Dylan 2 she saw a little girl who needed her as much as Katherine needed her (and not just in a “cover-up” kind of way). I also have to say I’m a little let down by this big secret of Katherine’s, because this is sort of the first thing everyone suspected, that the real Dylan was dead and Katherine replaced her.

Wayne blamed Katherine for letting Dylan die and burrying her like a dog, so he was preparing to kill her when Adam showed up. Wayne and Adam fought and Adam beat Wayne up! Bree and Katherine were free. As Bree tended to Adam’s many cuts, Katherine held a gun on Wayne. Wayne said he still had friends in high places, he might do some time, but he’d get out and he would come for her. Katherine said she knew, and so she shot Wayne! Good girl!

Bree then ran to get the other housewives help to keep Katherine out of jail. Not that she really would have gone anyway, I mean the man was about to kill her, emotionally tortured her not to mention physically beat her for years and was threatening to come get her when he got out of jail. I think a jury would have found her not guilty. But of course the point was to have the girls rally behind Katherine. Bree told the cops it was self defense, Wayne was going to kill them and Katherine managed to get the gun and shoot him. The other girls all gave statements about how they knew Wayne was crazy, he had threatened her, this was bound to happen. Wayne’s cop friend from earlier in the show let Katherine go and said this was clearly self defense. Dylan returned at the end of the show and she told her mom she was so sorry and they hugged. All I have to say is I hope Katherine sues those cops and wins big! I am hoping when the show returns in the fall we find out that she did sue them.

The end of course was the big five year leap, which I’ve already posted about in a separate post.

Desperate Housewives: The Season Finale Part One!

Desperate Housewives: The Season Finale Part One!

Posted by Dustin on 05.20.2008 at 1:37 pm

Desperate Housewives Gunsong Since the “DH” finale was in fact two shows back to back, I’m doing them in two parts. Together it would be insanely long I’m sure, plus this gives me a break in getting them up 🙂

The show opened with CPS coming to see Lynette because that devil living in their house called the doctor and said Lynette was beating her. He was obligated to report it. The doctor showed up and told Lynette and Tom that CPS would have to interview the kids, the neighbors, even the teachers about what is going on. Now this is what I was pointing out last week, wouldn’t they soon realize Kayla is a lying little snake in the grass? Things just wouldn’t add up if she was being abused as she claimed. They’d get to the truth and quick! Kayla listened as Lynette and Tom explained what was going on with Kayla, so she knew she had to up the ante, and decided to burn herself with a curling iron. Devil child!

Of course Lynette was arrested the moment she came home from visiting Susan in the hospital. I was yelling “Hello can you not tell a fresh burn when you see one? She’s not even been at home!” Tom visited Lynette in jail, who finally put her foot down where Kayla was concerned. About time, she should have put her foot in her arse and kicked her out the door when she called CPS the first time! Lynette told Tom she was not able to go within 500 feet of their kids, so it was up to him to fix this, that he couldn’t try and sit on the fence anymore.

Tom talked with Kayla and he told her how Lynette couldn’t come near her children as long as she was here, so she’d have to go away! Kayla admitted she lied, lied about it all, so Lynette could come home and she could stay. Fortunately Tom had the doctor on the phone listening, so the devil child was busted! Yes! Kayla pleaded to be able to stay, but Tom told her that she couldn’t. Finally he has seen that his child is in fact an evil little girl. I was worried Tom would never wake up to her and keep trying to take her side. Thank you Tom, you have been redeemed!

Kayla was sent off to live with her grandparents. Her grandparents! She needs to be under lock and key as far as I’m concerned. Send her to a home for problem kids. She better be getting some serious help while she’s away, otherwise I see bad things coming. I so see her coming back as a teen, possibly more hellish than ever. Though given Lynette, in the future has her hands full with her own kids, I wonder if maybe she’ll come back perfect? That would be the ultimate kick in the pants.

Susan gave birth to a son, but her and Mike couldn’t figure out a name for him. Okay did they not discuss this and prepare their options? I guess not! They settled on Connor when a Dr. Connor was called over the P.A. Unfortunately Mike got the news that his grandfather had died, so he thought it would be nice to name their son after him. Susan, thinking this was grandpa James, agreed. However this was grandpa Maynard! Susan quickly realized she hated the name, but was stuck. Hello that is why we give kids two names, so they can be called by the one they hate the least. Why she didn’t think of this I don’t know.

The girls all came to visit Susan and learned about the name. Lynette gave some hilarious comments such as “Was his grandfather beaten to death because of his name?” and “Which sounds worse when you try and shorten it, May or Nerd!” Gabby also chimed in saying a child’s name defines them, if you name a girl Francesca she will end up shooting a porno on the hood of an Italian sports car. Of course the funny thing about this comment is five years later she has her own little Francesca! A lot of Gabby’s comments in these two episodes were forshadowing her own future.

Susan convinced a nurse named Griselda to help her change the name on the birth certificate, playing up the “that must have been a tough name on the playground” aspect. However when they were about to leave the hospital, a nurse showed up with balloons with the name Connor on it, and Susan was busted. Honestly, she couldn’t have kept it up forever. Mike sat down and explained his grandpa took him and his mom in when his dad was sent to jail, he opened up the first interracial school in their town. He wanted their son to have a name he could be proud to live up to. Way to lay on the guilt Mike! It of course worked, Susan agreed to call the kid Maynard. I’m telling you, middle name! Keep Connor and call him that.

Ellie caught Gabby having a pretend affair with the handy man, who was really an undercover cop planting a bug in Ellie’s room. It was the only cover Gabby could come up with for their reason for being in her room, claiming Carlos’ heightened sense of smell would pick their affair up elsewhere. Feeling sorry for Carlos, she told him about Gabby’s affair. After misunderstanding thinking she was having an affair, Gabby set him straight. She confronted Ellie, who gave some sob story about how her father caught her mom having an affair, and he walked out on them. She said her mom went nuts and she ended up on the street doing bad things to get by. I wasn’t honestly sure if she was telling the truth or if it was a lie of hers. I guess it explains why she got into dealing drugs, but she might also just love the money and the drugs too. As she was telling her story this of course is when the cops were about to make their move, and predictably Gabby whispered to her to run as it was a sting. I saw that one happening!

At Bree’s church, their reverend who had left for a few years to do missionary work in Korea had returned. Orson had been “stalking” Bree to try and work things out with her, but she wouldn’t talk to him. She used the reverend to make Orson jealous, but in the end the reverend got the wrong idea totally! He went a little nutso and decided Bree was a red-headed temptress who had to be exposed to the church. Orson and him fought in the back room of the church (I’m forgetting the proper name right now), and over the microphone the whole church heard Orson say “I’m not letting you go out there and tell that church Bree is a slut!” Hilarious! That must have just killed poor Bree. The reverend knocked Orson out, and he was taken to the hospital where Bree went to check on him. You could see where this was going. Bree softened to him as he came to defend her honor. We also know from the future that Orson is still around. I have to admit I’m not an Orson fan at all, I much would have rather Bree had the new hubby in the future. Of course that wouldn’t be as shocking as Susan, which is why they went there.

Finally, Wayne showed up as Katherine was attempting to flee, and confronted her about the lack of a scar on Dylan’s arm. He knew she wasn’t his or her daughter and wanted the truth. Before he could get anywhere, Bob and Lee showed up to talk to Katherine about her and Bree catering their commitment ceremony.

Bree and Katherine hilariously planned the ceremony while at the shooting range! There is something just ironic and hilarious about these two republican women (well we know Bree is at least) planning a gay wedding while shooting guns!

Katherine returned home to find Adam there. He knew Wayne had come back and had a plan to protect Dylan. He said that he always promised her a graduation trip, they could take it and never come back. I really like Adam and hope he and Katherine stay together. Alas the actor has a new show next season, so who knows what they will do, especially if it’s a hit.

Dylan had a orchestra concert and Wayne showed up at it and clubbed Adam in the parking lot, then took him hostage. He demanded Adam tell him the truth about Dylan, trying to beat it out of him.

This was the end of the first hour. The recap and thoughts for part two will be up ASAP!

Dancing With The Stars Finals

Dancing With The Stars Finals

Posted by Dustin on 05.19.2008 at 9:03 pm

So tonight is the finals of “Dancing With The Stars” Each couple had to do a “Cha Cha Cha Face-Off” and then got to do a freestyle dance. The drew to see who is going first and who last. The line-up was Christian, followed by Jason with Kristi last, then they all dance together.

Christian and Cheryl started off with “Dancin On The Ceiling.” Jason and Edyta then continued with the same song. Finally Marc and Kristi came in and finished it up. She ran over and planted a big one on Bruno’s lips! Eventually everyone joined for the group choreography bit.

Len said he loved it, he thought the whole idea was fantastic. He told Christian he had great hips and rhythm. He said Jason had elegance and style, he felt sorry for him because Latin isn’t his big thing. He told Kristi she had the technique and style from Jason, the hips and rhythm from Christian, the complete package.

Bruno said they all did so well. He said Christian banged like the best, his improvement is amazing. He told Jason he was off a bit in the timing. He told Kristi she was in a class of her own.

Carrie Anne said watching them all back to back, they could see who was the best. She told Christian he was good, but his injury is affecting his posture a bit. She agreed with Len that Latin isn’t Jason’s best dance. She told Kristi hands down she won that round.

Christian and Cheryl got a 26.

Jason and Edyta got a 24.

Marc and Kristi got a 30.

The second round was the freestyle round.

Kristi and Marc went first, dancing to “Working Day And Night.” The routine was heavy on lifts, flips and very draining looking! Bruno said it was a demanding routine, she didn’t miss a beat and she made it look easy. Carrie Anne said it’s hard to keep up with the men in this competition, but she has been and she loved it. Len said he is no lover of hip-hop, but this held his attention from start to finish. They got another 30.

Jason and Edyta danced to “Miami.” It was a good routine, with great lifts, but Jason just looked a little clumsy out there to me. Carrie Anne loved the lifts, she thought it was fantastic. Len loved the humor, but the lifts were fantastic. Bruno said it was like watching centerfolds, the dance was fun and full of great lifts. They got a 27.

Finally Christian and Cheryl danced to some Latin song I don’t know (“Suavez?”). It was a fun dance with many one arm lifts and a death spiral spin. The one armed weakness was there for me though. Len said he thought it was fantastic, but because of his one arm the lifts weren’t up to standard. Bruno said for one arm he did bloody well, and he liked that he encapsulated his Latin spirit. Carrie Anne said this is the round they want to see who is going to win it, they may not compare to Kristi, but he is a winner in so many ways for not giving up. They got a a 26.

I cast all my text and online votes for Kristi. I am a bit biased and love her, but I also think overall she’s been the most consistent and the top scorer, so she deserves to win. However I think Christian might pull off an upset with fan voting and win.

Desperate Housewives: Five Years Later

Desperate Housewives: Five Years Later

Posted by Dustin on 05.18.2008 at 11:30 pm

Okay so my recap/thoughts on the whole episode will be up at some point tomorrow, most likely in two parts given this was really two episodes back to back. I just wanted to get a post up about the big time-jump for people to comment on.

Five years later we find the five girls, Katherine being the fifth, playing their weekly poker game. After the game we learn what has become of them all.

Gabby, not looking like her normal made-up fancy clothed self, has two twin girls who got into all her make-up and old designer clothes. No Carlos, but we assume he’s the father.

Katherine returned home and Dylan #2, freshly back from Paris, called to say Bradley asked her to marry him under the Eiffel Tower. There was no sign or mention of Adam. The actor currently has a new show next season, so who knows what they will do there.

Bree returned home as Orson had a bubble bath ready for her. We didn’t see him, but heard him. Bree, hair in a bun and in fancy clothes, was met by Andrew, who in a suit. He had some publisher on the phone about her cookbook, which was about to go to press. Bree said they’d have to wait, she needed to take a bath with her hubby. It looks like Andrew is her assistant or press agent.

Lynette returned home to find a cop talking to Tom. One of the kids stole a car to go joyriding, again. She though it was Porter, who had already been in juvie once. This time it was Preston!

Finally the shock was when Susan returned home and kissed her husband . . . who wasn’t Mike! It was Gale Harold as Susan’s new hubby. No word or sight of Maynard or Julie.

Also absent was a return of Edie, but she is supposed to be back next season for several episodes.

Sooooooo, it seems Lynette has a few hellions on her hands, including their oldest goodie goodie kid? Wow didn’t see that one coming! There is no mention of the devil child Kayla either, which you know can’t be good! She’ll be back for sure I’m sure. The ironic part would be if she turned out good while Lynette’s other kids are demons!

The big mystery of course is where is Mike? The rumors made him out to be dead, but we don’t know that for sure. It seems some of the leaked finale spoilers were correct, some not. All we know is Susan has this new guy!

My guess is we are going to have a very “Lost” like season next season as we jump from present to past as certain things are filled in.

Your thoughts?

Ghost Whisperer: Who’s Your Daddy?

Ghost Whisperer: Who’s Your Daddy?

Posted by Dustin on 05.16.2008 at 10:16 pm

So tonight was the season finale of “Ghost Whisperer,” and it didn’t disappoint! Melinda got to her father, who shot himself in the head because he was possessed by the spirit of Paul Eastman, the man he put away for the murder of the little boy in the last episode. Her dad lived and only suffered a flesh wound though.

When Paul led her to an old house where she found his bones, Melinda’s hubby Jim did some checking and learned that is the house Melinda grew up in. He suspected the dad was lying to Melinda and demanded the truth. Melinda’s dad Tom claimed that Paul was angry and wanted to kill him, Melinda’s mother Beth and Melinda. They fought, he killed him and buried him in the basement to cover it up. He claimed he was trying to protect his family so that’s why he didn’t call the cops. He also said Paul, even as a ghost, wanted them all dead.

Meanwhile Melinda’s mom got a visit from Paul’s ghost, who told her to tell Melinda the truth as Tom was going to hurt her. I quickly figured out what was going to happen from there. Melinda’s mom spilled all, she was engaged to Paul and living with him when he was arrested for the boy’s murder. She went to Tom, who was a lawyer (later becoming assistant DA), and convinced him to help her free Paul and told him about Paul’s powers and her own. He took the case and did what he could. Paul grew angry in prison, even killing a man, while Beth and Tom fell in love. They eventually married. Of course there was more, Paul is Melinda’s father, Tom knew and he accepted her as his own.

Of course that wasn’t the end of the secrets. Melinda soon remembered all about that night Paul came to see her after escaping from a prison hospital (he set a fire to escape prison and was burned, hence the face mask). Paul had confronted Tom, he knew the truth and was going to tell Beth. Tom never was planning to help him, he was going to let him rot in prison for killing that kid, which he didn’t. Worse yet, Tom hired a guy to kill him in prison, he killed that man in self defense. Tom then killed him and Melinda saw it all as a child.

Tom of course turned on Melinda to keep his secrets, planning to kill her, but Paul came to her rescue. Tom fell to his death after a possession and his spirit cast Melinda a look and fled. Paul and Beth were then reunited before he went into the light.

The show ended with Melinda, her mom, her husband, Payne, Dehlia and her son walking together when Payne noticed there were six of them, but only five shadows. What does it mean?

Jay Mohr (Payne) has a new show on CBS next season, so he’s most likely leaving the show or will be a guest star every now and then. Nothing has been announced on this. Will they kill Payne off in the season opener? I hope not!

Also I feel like we got no resolution to the angry spirits below Grandview and their master plan, nor Gabriel’s part in it all and what he wanted from Melinda. Honestly it’s almost like they just did a 180 with the writing after the writer’s strike, because her father’s “spirit” was also after Melinda in a way to use her. It was like they both had some plan and Melinda was key to it. My guess is the father/Tom will be back next season as one of the angry spirits underground out for revenge.

I would also love to see Melinda’s mother not only become a full cast member, but start to use her gift and help Melinda out next season. Two “Ghost Whisperers!”
