Army Wives: Bringing Sexy Back

Army Wives: Bringing Sexy Back

In the 2nd to last episode of the season, Marta stuck around, though she sent her boyfriend packing. She still had a few days and wanted to spend them with Roxy and the boys. Roxy was still having trust issues with her though.

Roxy got the call we all knew was coming, Betty had passed away. The only family that could be found were some cousins, who were simply going to have her cremated and stuffed in a wall somewhere. Roxy held a wake for Betty at the bar to honor her memory.

Marta had serious issues seeing Roxy go to the trouble she had for Betty and talk about her so lovingly. She wanted to drink, but it was Trevor who stopped her and took her to an AA meeting. At the end of the show Marta had to leave, but she and Roxy planned future visits. Roxy also finally called her mom, which brought Marta to tears. It was a really touching end to this drama. I like Marta and do hope they’ll bring her back next season.

The day Joan knew was coming arrived, she had to go back to work. She couldn’t stand being away from her daughter though. Once again it’s so great to see the transformation in Joan. Speaking of transformations, whoa mama! Joan dolled herself up and put on a sexy negligee for Roland at the end of the show, but sadly fell asleep while trying to put the baby down. I must say, I never thought Joan could look like that.

Denise and Mac got closer this week, going out to dinner, sharing a kiss, finally ending up in bed. There wasn’t much to their story, mainly because everything was previewed last week. What WAS shocking was what was going on in Iraq with Frank and the woman he was working with. As the show started, he started asking her questions about her divorce, and took offense when she told him she was not going to stay in a marriage when she didn’t love the guy just because she took vows. Frank however spoke of how much those vows meant to him. She told him that if his wife was ending their marriage, the sooner he accepted it the better. Oh you could see where this was going, especially when she invited him back to her quarters for some coffee later on. Yup, she told him how today his words were the most romantic thing she’d heard, and she kissed him. Frank was stunned, but soon kissed back. Never ever ever did I expect this from Frank. Whoa! Will he tell Denise? It definately looks like this marriage might really be over.

Pam dealt with her daughter getting into trouble at school. Basically the kids were becoming curious about body parts and Pam had to explain the birds and the bees to her daughter, who of course held court at recess and told everyone. It was a cute story and pretty funny as well because of Pam’s dealings with some of the other Army mom’s, especially one in particular who kept inferring Pam’s daughter was not raised right. Pam finally let her in on a secret in front of everyone, it was her son that started all of this by telling everyone where exactly babies come out of!

The final story going on was Michael learning he was being promoted to a NATO post, which means a transfer to Brussels. They knew Emmalynn would not like this news, and boy she didn’t. She thought they knew about this, this is why they let her date Logan. They knew she’d have to give him up. They said they didn’t know, and she said she wasn’t going.

Emmalynn ran to Logan to tell him the news, and he swore they’d find a way to be together. Why am I seeing a wedding about to happen? That’s all I can think, or she’s going to get pregnant on purpose. Oh I seriously hope Emmalynn does NOT do something she will regret.

Next week is the finale. Claudia Joy has to break the news to her friends she’s leaving, and something happens that yet again leaves someone’s life they all know hanging in the balance.

True Blood: Mind Reader For Hire

True Blood: Mind Reader For Hire

Sookie was convinced Bill was dead as the show opened and went to his grave to place flowers on them. Suddenly Bill came out from the ground, he was as alive as a dead person could be and hid in the ground, where it is safe for vampires. It turned out the three evil vamps and a fang-banger are who turned up dead. The funny part of the whole ground thing was that Bill was sleeping in the dirt butt naked! I thought it was a fantasy when he climbed out naked, especially when he and Sookie started doing it right there. It was no fantasy, and I guess that’s why he had to be naked!

Bill and Sookie babysat for Arlene’s (corrected) kids while she and Rene went on a date, and he proposed to her. Very cute scenes with Bill and the kids, yet Sookie had a dream that she and Bill had breakfast together and he burned up in the morning sun. They are doing a good job basically showing what Sookie will have to give up if she wants a life with Bill, and that’s sad. There is also the problem that she’ll grow old while he won’t.

Eric, the head vamp in the area, made a request of Bill to bring Sookie to Fangtasia. It seemed someone had stolen up to 60K from the club, they suspected humans and wanted Sookie to find the person. She only agreed if they promised to turn that person into the cops, knowing they’d kill them. In the end it turned out the thief was the bartender, a vampire, who lunged at Sookie as the show closed. An amazing ending the way it all played out, totally unexpected.

Jason and his hippie girlfriend Amy continued to date, he convinced her to stick around town. She agreed, but soon began jonesin for some V. They, well she, came up with a plan. They followed Lafayette to the source of his V, a lonely gay vampire stuck in his house watching TV by himself. They kidnapped the guy at the end of the show. Oh this is not going to be good and is going to put a big target on Jason. I see the vamps hunting him down!

Tara’s mom was all better with the demon out of her. She threw away all her devil juice (booze), began going to church again, basically was normal once more. Tara however still had an attitude and anger issues. By the end of the show she went back to the voodoo woman, who was expecting her. Did her mom have a demon, or did she just think she did and need a fake exorcism to help? What will be Tara’s prognosis? Can’t wait!

Finally Sam made excuses for his naked run in the wild. He claimed his dead parents were nudists and every year he honor’s their memory with a run in the buff. However the detective wasn’t buying it, made some calls, and found out the nudist colony Sam claimed his parents lived at . . . well they never heard of Sam or his family.

I think this is my new favorite show on TV, possibly my favorite show right now. I so look forward to tuning in. I’m going to be sad when the season ends. I’ve decided once the season is over I will read the books to tide me over till Season 2, assuming HBO is smart enough to order a Season 2.

Housewives: Dave’s Plan And Target

Housewives: Dave’s Plan And Target

Posted by Dustin on 10.26.2008 at 10:06 pm

So this space reserved for my full thoughts/mini-cap. But I had to get this out there in case anyone wanted to post. At the very end of tonight’s show Mary Alice told us that Dave’s plan was to get revenge on the man who destroyed his life, but he wanted it to be a total surprise.

So yes, it seems like DH went with the obvious, that he’s out to get Mike for the car accident that killed the woman and her son. Of course they could be setting us up for a huge twist and that isn’t the case, they just want us to think so.

If that is the case, who is he after? What other man on the block could have done something to get him an enemy like this? Initially I could only think of Carlos, who we know has a shady past. There is however Orson. He was involved in the cover-up of that woman’s murder. He burried the body and pulled the teeth out, after his mother (or was it his nutty wife, can’t remember) killed her.

Ghost Whisperer: SOS

Ghost Whisperer: SOS

Posted by Dustin on 10.26.2008 at 6:48 pm

On the latest episode of “Ghost Whisperer,” Melinda and Jim set sail on a cruise ship for their anniversary. It was to be the last voyage of the ship, which was filled with ghosts. Melinda met one ghost, a woman who was on a cruise around the world when she died. She knew she didn’t have long, and decided to stick around and make the cruise last forever. She was her guide on the ship, introducing her to all the other ghosts seemingly stuck on the ship.

The problem ghost however was a young woman, who seemed to haunt men in a certain cabin. It turned out she kept mistaking them for her fiancee, who she blamed for her death somehow. She was luring men into jumping overboard! As it turned out, the fiancee was on board that ship for the last sale, and owned the whole company. He had met the woman years ago while cruising, she was an American au pair in Brazil. He proposed in only a week, and she snuck on board the ship after they set sail to be with him. However a woman his family wanted him to marry was on board too, and she saw them together sharing a goodbye kiss. She misunderstood, which lead to her fleeing and falling to her death.

Melinda helped the man, who never knew what happened to the woman he love find peace, as well as the ghost herself. All the other ghosts on the ship also were suddenly able to go into the light, save for the one woman who decided to continue her cruise around the world. It seemed the owner had a change of heart and wasn’t taking the boat out of commission.

Melinda and Jim returned home, where Melinda found herself very ill feeling. Could she be pregnant?

All in all one of the better episodes this season, though definitely one of the more gruesome “Ghost Whisperers” with all the grisly deaths the ghosts suffered. I loved finally seeing Melinda and Jim get some real on-screen time together for a change. I didn’t however fully understand how saving the one angry ghost somehow freed every other ghost on board to go into the light.

Grey’s: Dropping Things

Grey’s: Dropping Things

So I have to be honest in that I only half paid attention to the latest “Greys.” The whole surgery after surgery thing wasn’t my cup of tea. So I’ll post some thoughts on what I DID catch.

First up, the brain tumor study Meredith came up with and Derek helped with last season was published, and Meredith was a bit miffed when the spotlight was put on Derek. Shocking, drama for Meredith and Derek! Quick, let me get my tally sheet to see what the total is up to now. I really want these two to be happy together, but even I have my limits.

By the end of the show I saw Izzie apparently mend fences with Alex. For the life of me I can’t understand this. I can understand being compassionate to someone whose had a hard time, but their are limits, and Alex has used up all his chances. The man is a jerk and Izzie’s just gunna get her heart stomped on.

George got his interns, and Lexie was furious with him for not even asking if he could have her as his intern. She was furious and finally told him he was such a jerk given all she did to help him out. While I’m glad she told him off, at the same time I had to wonder why she’d think it would be a good idea to be his intern. First they live together, second she in love/lust with him. Probably not a good idea to get mixed up at work!

The Erica/Callie stuff was again hilarious, yet sad at the same time. Callie clearly has some serious issues with the sex part of their relationship, she didn’t like going downtown and thought she sucked at it. Erica however enjoyed their night of passion, and was hurt Callie didn’t. Callie then went to Mark the master to have him teach her how to do it right. Best part of the show, and funniest! She wanted to be the best at everything she did, and with knowledge in hand, went back to Erica.

The writing is on the wall for these two I think. With the spoilers of the new bisexual intern showing up soon, it’s easy to see what will happen. The funny thing is, I thought it would be Callie who was into it and Erica having the problems. It is totally the other way around. I think Erica’s going to end up hooking up with the new intern while Callie realizes maybe she should just bat for the other team.

Private Practice: Anger Issues

Private Practice: Anger Issues

Posted by Dustin on 10.26.2008 at 3:56 pm

So yet again as I try to play catch-up, a quick summary and then some thoughts . . . Naomi was angry she was sleeping with Sam, but also allowing him to sound off ideas on her. Violet was angry that Naomi was venting to her, simply because she wasn’t talking to Addison. Violet used to be her Addison, until Addison showed up and she got dropped. Violet was dealing with her own case involving an angry son, who lost his father awhile back. Pete meanwhile dealt with a cross-dressing fireman. Addison was tempted to take a job Charlotte offered her at the hospital where she could perform lots of surgeries, but turned it down. While there though she ran into Dell and talked him into coming back to the practice. Addison also continued to see the SWAT guy.

Now while I’m enjoying the show, I feel like Violet and Pete’s characters have been given the shaft a bit this season. Neither really has their own storylines. I actually started watching this show more for Amy Brenneman than anything, so I really hope after the Naomi/Sam/Dell stuff cools down a bit she’ll get a good juicy storyline. As for poot Tim Daly, well I think we all know they are just delaying him and Kate Walsh’s hook-up.

NBC/Bravo Plan “Runway” Like Back-Up Show

NBC/Bravo Plan “Runway” Like Back-Up Show

Posted by Dustin on 10.26.2008 at 12:03 am

So NBC, which owns Bravo, is in a battle with the Weinstein Company over it’s deal to move “Project Runway” to Lifetime. Basically NBC is arguing it was entitled to make a “first right of refusal” offer when Lifetime swooped in to offer more money for the show. It’s currently in court being fought out.

It’s not surprising NBC is upset, as “Project Runway” did in fact built Bravo. I mean does anyone remember watching Bravo before it? It was basically a 24/7 PBS channel that showed opera and other artsy stuff 🙂 Needless to say “Runway” not only made the network, but inspired countless clone reality show hits for it.

Anyway, The New York Post is reporting that NBC has a back-up planned. They’ve slyly sent out casting calls for a show called “Fashion House” that sounds identical to “Runway.” It seems part of the reason for the legal fight, is to delay the sixth season of “Runway” until the new show can air and steal the audience.

I don’t know, I think NBC isn’t realizing that while the contestants are a big part of “Runway,” so are the judges. I tune in to see Michael Khors roll his eyes and poo-poo an outfit, for Nina Garcia to tear the person to shreds and for Heidi Klum to point out say she wouldn’t be caught dead wearing that outfit.

Dirty Sexy Money: Mommy Issues

Dirty Sexy Money: Mommy Issues

Posted by Dustin on 10.25.2008 at 8:51 pm

So on the latest episode of “Dirty Sexy Money,” Nick learned that Nola Lyons was calling his mother as the star witness. It seems she was the last to talk to Dutch while he was alive. Furthermore she’s been living in France on Letitia Darling’s money.

Nick was a bit miffed with Letitia, who told him his mom wanted to go. That back then they didn’t know what was wrong with her, she was just unhappy. These days she’d probably be diagnosed as bipolar.

Nick went to France and basically found his mom living with some guy in a nice chateau, and learned Letitia was telling him the truth. His mom did want to leave, she cracked and couldn’t handle things. She told Nick that her father called her the day he died. He had just that day found out Brian was his son, and he was leaving Letitia and the family. He was sorry for everything, he still loved her and wanted another chance.

Nick’s mom said she was scared, she called Letitia, Letitia said she’d handle things. Nick told his mom Letitia didn’t kill dad, and to trust him on this. He asked her to stay in France, not to testify, which in the end she did.

This was the main story in this episode, and I don’t have much to comment about. I was rather annoyed with Lisa, yet again. She was upset Nick was going to see his mother, as she had tried to get him to do it before but he wouldn’t. He in fact did try once before, but his mom stood him up. She felt yet again it was something Nick would do for the Darlings and not her. Lisa is becoming REALLY annoying!

Patrick had a debate in this episode in his run for Senate. He wanted to come clean about Ellen’s murder, even if it cost him everything. He wanted a life with Carmelita, who was still missing. Tripp didn’t want to hear this, and during the debate arrives with Carmelita on his arm. Patrick said nothing and played his part. Tripp sent Carmelita away and told Patrick she agreed with him, she didn’t want him ruining his career. He said tonight Patrick was presidential. He gave Patrick the address where Carmelita was, so he went to her at the end.

Brian headed to Brazil in this episode as his son was being left home alone at night while his mom went out. He was sure the mom was partying, and he was going to take his son away. However he got their to find out the mom had been working a night job as a waitress. He talked to her, saying he was sending money to help out. She was too proud to take it, but eventually agreed to for Brian Jr’s sake. Brian headed home, with his son stowing away on the plane. You know what this means, the mom will come back to New York at some point. I think there was a lot of hinting that these two would end up together, and the kid seems to be trying to get them together.

The final story was the ongoing drama of Karen and Simon, with Simon still pushing Karen to get over Nick. He wanted her to see Nick didn’t love or respect her. She went to talk to Nick, but talked to Lisa instead. She realized the Nick she loved, the Nick that Lisa loved, didn’t seem to exist anymore. She was ready to move on with Simon. Simon later made a call saying they had Karen where they wanted her. I’m still wondering who he has been talking to in these calls. At first I thought, what if he’s been plotting with Lisa? That would make sense, but she doesn’t have anything to give him . . . other than Karen. The real shocker of course is if he’s actually been plotting with Tripp all along.

Grey’s: Denny’s Back, Izzie Gone?

Posted by Dustin on 10.25.2008 at 1:04 pm

Jeffrey Dean Morgan returns on November 6 as Denny’s ghost on “Grey’s,” according to Ausiello’s exclusive scoop.

Another little bomb was dropped, something happens to Izzie in this episode that could make it possible for her to exit at the end of this season. Hmmmmm, yet again it seems those old rumors of Izzie getting killed off are back.
