Drop Dead Diva Season Finale Recap + Thoughts!

Drop Dead Diva Season Finale Recap + Thoughts!

Posted by Dustin on 09.11.2012 at 6:04 pm

So this past weekend was the season finale of “Drop Dead Diva.” Overall, while I enjoyed it, I wasn’t that surprised. I guessed the big shocker a few weeks ago when some teasers came out. First though a bit of a recap . . .

The episode was about Jane and Owen’s wedding, though really that didn’t arrive until the final few minutes. Kim (with Stacey’s) help dealt with a singer on trial as a murder accomplice because a deranged fan (awesomely played by Kelly Ozborne) tried to kill the singer’s cheating ex-boyfriend, and do so in a way inspired by the singer’s actual song. The real drama happened behind the scenes of the trial with Kim’s pregnancy and Luke accidentally spilling the beans to Parker about it. Parker thought it was his and wanted to be there for her, but she claimed it wasn’t his kid! What ?!?!? In the end, Kim admitted it was Parker’s kid, and the two seemed to reconcile, if only for the sake of the kid. We don’t know yet if this means a romantic reunion for the two.

Jane meanwhile was stuck trying to write her vows to Owen, but stumped. Luke was worried that she was still holding onto her dream of Grayson. Jane and Grayson meanwhile worked on a case that involved some long time friends of Graysons. A man was suing to force his wife to have surgery to remove a tumor which had drastically altered her personality. The tumor had increased her intelligence, and she was not willing to give it up. She also felt she had out grown her husband and wanted to move on. In many ways the case was similar to Grayson and Deb’s situation, as Stacey pointed out if there was an operation that could change her back to Deb . . . would she get it? Would Grayson be right to fight for that? Jane felt Grayson was clinging to what appeared to be a losing case (and they did lose) because he was still hung up on Deb. Grayson was furious and said he will always love Deb, but he had moved on . . . Oh in the end, even though they lost, Jane and Grayson convinced the woman to get the surgery as she had been used by doctors who wanted to just study her and make her into a guinea pig.

Meanwhile up in heaven we learned that the real Jane has been sitting in a waiting room and watching Deb “ruin her life” and using her body to do so. Jane was supposed to have moved on, but chose to stay in the waiting room and watch her life unfold on a television set. This was apparently an option she was given. She ended up going to see Fred, who is back in heaven at a desk job, and she demanded to go back like Deb did. When she found out how Deb did it, she hit the return button on Fred’s computer and was sent rocketing back to earth . . . .

Meanwhile the day of the wedding had arrived, and all was going well, until Jane’s dress got her stuck under some chest in her dressing room. The wedding had started, but Jane was a no show as she couldn’t move. Eventually Grayson went to look for her and found her. She asked him about his moving on from Deb. He didn’t want to talk about it now, but she pressed him. He said he realized he has been in love with her! He said she is the only woman who has ever made him feel the way he felt when he was with Deb . . . . As they kissed, Owen walked in! Then Owen had a heart attack, collapsed . . . and in jumped Real Jane into his body it would seem. Owen’s eyes opened and he said “Where am I?” The show then ended.

So as I thought a few weeks ago when the spoilers about Real Jane surfaced, it would appear she has returned via Owen. Now that it’s happened, I don’t know if I like the idea anymore! On one hand, it might be fun. There are no so many many issues to be dealt with given a sex swap has occurred. Clearly Jane is not going to marry Owen now, it would just be to weird! This would also probably pave the way for Grayson and Jane to be together. Eventually I assume she would tell him the truth, and he would probably feel hurt and betrayed. However I have gotten to really like Owen, and now he’s just gone. We’ll have to deal with Jane in Owen, and something tells me she’s gunna be a real b….. Of course this is just what the set-up appears to be. We could end up being punk’d come next season, and Jane is really somewhere else and Owen is okay. However something tells me that’s wishful thinking.

As for Kim and Parker, I am actually hoping they do get back together and can make things work this time.

Parenthood Returns! Plus Other New NBC Shows . . .

Parenthood Returns! Plus Other New NBC Shows . . .

Posted by Dustin on 09.11.2012 at 12:41 pm

“Parenthood” returns tonight, and thank goodness I heard a commercial for that on the radio or I would not have remembered! I’ve included the spoilers for the first two episodes. Also in here are spoilers from other new NBC shows starting in the fall I plan to give a try – “Revolution” and “The New Normal.” I watch several 1/2 sitcoms, mainly the ABC line up, but don’t really blog about them. The main problem is they usually are stand alone shows, and I find it hard to blog about shows that don’t have some kind of storyline arc. “The New Normal” looks to have this . . . . I hope! Also “Grimm” returns at the end of the month, and “Smash” isn’t back until next year.

Spoilers all below the jump! . . . .

ABC Fall Premier Spoilers!

ABC Fall Premier Spoilers!

Posted by Dustin on 09.11.2012 at 12:26 pm

ABC has released some of its shows season premier spoilers. Below are a handful, including some of the new shows I’m thinking of watching.

-On “Castle,” it’s the morning after Castle and Beckett finally did the deed!
-On “Private Practice,” Addison makes a choice, Pete goes on the run, and Sheldon’s back with his ex-wife?
-On “Grey’s Anatomy” the doctors adjust to events of the plane crash, and we learn who else may not have survived the crash . . .
-On “Last Resort” (New Show) is about a US Nuclear Submarine caught in a crises that could spark WWIII.
-On “Once Upon A Time,” the fairytale characters know who they are, but they are still stuck in Storybrooke. Things get worse when Gold releases magic back into the town!
-On “Revenge” Emily is back, and there isn’t much to go on here. (I wasn’t originally going to stick with this show, but they’ve sandwiched it between “Once” and “666” so I probably will end up watching it.)
-On “Apartment 666” (New Show) welcome to The Drake, an apartment building managed by two evil landlords who are out to steal the souls of their tenants!

Read on for the full spoilers . . .

Army Wives: Season or Series Finale?

Army Wives: Season or Series Finale?

Posted by Dustin on 09.10.2012 at 9:41 pm

So last night was the shocking finale of season 6 of “Army Wives.” We still don’t know officially if it will come back for a 7th season, but if it does, it will likely be a very different cast.

Micheal’s secret was of course not as big as the last episode made it out to be. The army is merging with the local air force base, and that was the general from the base who he has been working with for weeks that he was dining with. One of these episodes, assuming the show returns, they are going to have to do something really shocking with one of these cliff-hanger endings to surprise us at this point! They’ve pulled this shocking moment one too many times, and it never plays out to be anything.

Kevin slowly is getting better and regaining the use of his legs, but it looks to be a long road to full recovery.

Over in Afghanistan a commander of a platoon was killed, along with a number of soldiers, and this left a huge problem. Micheal learned that the army had decided to promote Joan to take over the position, which meant Michael was losing her as his Garrison Commander. However it meant advancement for Joan. At the same time, Roland wasn’t too happy. He was worried what one more injury could do to Joan, given her last injury. She had been warned another injury to the head could kill her . . . He felt she had put in her twenty years . . . but Joan wasn’t ready to retire.

Kevin told that Frank because of what happened, the 1st division was also being sent in with him leading. Frank of course was glad to have a shot for redemption, but it was made clear things over there have been getting very dangerous . . .

The sending of the 1st division over hand more ramifications . . . Charlie and Nicole had just began scheduling adoption interviews when Nicole learned she was going back over. This meant that had to delay things by a year, if not longer. Gloria ended up with an idea after Penny showed up saying she couldn’t take care of this kid and wanted Gloria and Hector to take it. She set her up with Nicole and Charlie . . . but Penny flipped out over the fact that they were a gay couple. It went against the bible and her Christian upbringing, and she wanted this child raised with morals and values. Oh no you did not just go there little gurrrrrllll! Thankfully Hector eventually put her in her place and reminded her exactly how this baby got made. He was more polite than I would have been . . . I was going off to my TV about that underage kid in a bar picking up a married man for a one night stand and NOW we are worried about our religious upbringing and morals? It’s a little late sweetheart! Fortunately she came around (far too quickly for the real world, but this is TV) and agreed to let them adopt the child. They also told Penny and Hector they were always welcome to see the baby, they wanted this child to have all the love and support available to it.

Trevor was wondering what his old division going to Afghanistan meant for him, as he has not officially reported to his new post in Washington. Shockingly he told Frank that his preference was to go with his men and lead them . . . but he wasn’t going to tell that to Roxy! I couldn’t even believe this . . . he just had two new kids and he wants to leave them not knowing if he’d come back?!?!?! I was fuming! However in the end Frank put his transfer through, so Trevor, Roxy and all the boys left. Should the show return, my guess Roxy and Trevor won’t be a part of it. The actress who plays Roxy signed a talent deal with NBC after her sixth season contract ended . . . which is why they probably wrote them out.

The wives saw their husbands (and wife in Nicole’s case) off as the show came to a close. Gloria even showed up to see Hector off, and there was a very slight glimmer of hope that there relationship could be rescued. He asked if he could write to her, she said yes, and gave him a kiss on the cheek to see him off.

The final few minutes left us with a shocking cliff hanger. The plane carrying the troops, including Joan, Frank and Nicole seemed to hit stormy weather and turbulence . . . They were alerted to buckle themselves in, and then we heard the plane calling for a place to possibly emergency land due to weather. Then we saw Michael receive a call that shocked him. He sat down and said something like the lines of “Oh my God . . . when did this happen?”

So did the plane go down? Something tells me no, and this is just another fake-out. They can’t bring the show back (if they do) and take out half the cast. Perhaps It’s something to do with the bases merging? Or perhaps it has to do with Claudia Joy? Kim Delaney did not return for this final episode, and it’s possible this could be a way to kill C.J. off once and for all if they need to. Personally I feel that would be a giant mistake should the show return, as we’ve already lost Pamela and Roxy. We need Claudia Joy back!

You Say You Want A “Revolution?”

You Say You Want A “Revolution?”

Posted by Dustin on 09.09.2012 at 4:29 pm

So Hulu, as well as some cable’s On Demand channels, are playing a preview of several new NBC shows right now. One that I watched this week is the upcoming J.J. Abrams’ drama “Revolution.” I have been somewhat looking forward to this. My issues with getting into it are basically that 1) I don’t always like the weird and unrealistic world of J.J. Abrams and 2) NBC doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to giving shows like this a chance to grow and find an audience.

Still, I watched the pilot, which I would say seemed like a cross between “The Hunger Games” and “The Walking Dead,” just without Zombies. I think audiences of both will be drawn to the show, which is about a post apocalyptic United States 15 years after “the lights went off.” However this is a J.J. Abrams show, which is where even if it survives . . . it may eventually lose me. Like “Lost,” which I gave up on, the laws of nature are simply cast aside and to enjoy the show you have to be able to overlook that. For example, it’s not just that the power gets shut off . . . . it seems that electricity as we know it just seems to cease to exist? It’s confusing, and you have to watch to understand. For example, when “the lights go off” planes just start dropping out of the skies as if they got turned off . . .

There are some good twists and turns throughout the pilot, and a final scene that will make you say “Huh?” and will really confuse you!

If the show finds an audience, it could last. The scenery, the stunts, everything was well done. I can’t imagine this is a cheap show to make, so it’s probably going to have to pull in some numbers. Again though, you have to just take it as it is and not ask questions . . . like “So does this mean there is no more lightening or static electricity?”

Big Brother 14: The 2nd Double Eviction of the Season!

Big Brother 14: The 2nd Double Eviction of the Season!

Posted by Dustin on 09.06.2012 at 8:55 pm

Tonight on “Big Brother” is the second double eviction of the season, though the house guests of course don’t know it . . . yet! Frank and Joe are on the block, and in moments one will be evicted . . . and then the double eviction night will begin. By the end of the night we will know who the final five of the game are.

We saw a bit of a recap of Dan saving Jen, and Joe going up. We also learned while Dan made a final 2 deal with Frank (and Danielle, and Ian), he’s also working to evict Frank this week! However Dan began worrying . . . what if Joe won HOH this week? Joe lied to his face, he would put Dan up in a heartbeat. Later in a hilarious moment, Joe thought Shane came into the room (it was dark) and Joe started talking about how Dan just came in and started talking his ear off . . . but it was Dan! Dan now doesn’t know if he can trust Joe . . . Should they vote him out instead of Frank?

Julie went to the house to give the news of the double eviction night. Frank and Joe made their cases, and the voting began . . .

Dan, Danielle and Shane voted to evict Frank.
Jenn voted to evict Joe.

Julie then told them that 3-1, Frank you are evicted. Frank looked SHOCKED! Jenn gave him a hug, and he tore out of there with his Ted doll.

Chenbot talked with Frank, who was shocked, but also expected to be gotten. He was shocked that Dan swore on the bible to him, and still voted him out. Frank eventually watched his messages. Joe told him that he has the ego the size of Texas, and Frank should have gotten Dan out weeks ago. Shane told him he played a great game, but it was the time to get him out. Ian sent him home because he was just a threat to him. Dan told him that he respected him, and he had to get him out because he knew he couldn’t beat him. Frank was then off to the jury house.

The next HOH game was played. It was a trivia game identifying eliminated house guests pleas for votes when they were on the block for nomination. Each correct answer got a point, and in the end Dan, Danielle and Jenn were in a three way tie. After a tie breaker the winner was Dan!

Dan then had to nominate two people for eviction, and he put up Joe and Ian (claiming Ian hadn’t been nominated yet and that was why). They then had to play in the live veto competition.

The veto game was a maze game, where they had to maneuver a sharks fin through a huge lengthy maze. The first to do so, free the fin, then ring a buzzer would win. In the end Ian won!

The veto was held, but Dan kept holding it up to have conference. In a rare moment, Chenbot made a funny and said “Don’t make me come in there!” Ian saved himself, and Dan put up Danielle!

The vote was held, and of course Joe was sent home unanimously.

The next HOH game was not played, but will be played later tonight at some point. More information on it when it’s in.

Grimm: Royals, Wesons and Grimms!

Grimm: Royals, Wesons and Grimms!

Posted by Dustin on 09.04.2012 at 6:25 pm

So “Grimm” aired it’s last Monday night episode last night. The show returns to its normal Friday time slot on September 28th.

So far I’ve really been enjoying season 2 a lot. What I’m liking is that each episode continues an overall storyline arc. The show started off that way in season 1, but somewhere along the way lost it and each show simply became a stand alone episode until the last few episodes. I know this is standard for a lot of cop or investigative shows, but I like the arc episode far more.

We finally have gotten a glimpse as to what Captain Renard is when he took the potion to kiss, and then save, Juliette from her cat induced coma. He turned into this bizarre green demon thing. Scary! We also have learned he is one of the royals, and his brother in France seems to be running things for their family. Renard has a spy who is filling him in on his brother’s plans. His brother is after the 7 keys that Nick’s aunt said the Grimms all hid long ago after using them to lock up a secret weapon/treasure so the royals couldn’t use it. Renard is working against his brother it seems, but we don’t know why. Is he good, or does he want the keys for himself? He definitely seems to be out to protect Nick for some reason.

Juliette came out of her coma after Renard used the potion formulated by Adelaide’s mom. However predictably it seems she remembers everything and one except Nick. In the latest episode she finally began having fragments of memories return about Nick, in a way. She remembered some of the Weson neighbors who came to her about Nick once, initially out of fear of him, so she contacted them. They have no idea about her memory issues, and when she questioned them they talked about how great Nick has been to them, given he’s a Grimm. Oops, they didn’t know she didn’t know that either! They tried to cover and say it means “a great guy for a cop,” but you could tell she wasn’t buying it. As Juliette was woken by a kiss from Renard, I also am wondering if this means she’ll fall in love with him when/if she sees him?

Finally Hank had to be let in on Nick (and Monroe and Rosalie’s) secrets after he thought he was losing his mind seeing all these humans change into monsters. He took the news fairly well, a lot better than Juliette did when Nick told her. Then again, Hank said this was easier to believe than him going crazy. Now how Juliette will take it for a second time remains to be seen. Something tells me since she doesn’t remember Nick at all, she’ll react even worse than she initially did.

Big Brother 14: Nomination Night!

Big Brother 14: Nomination Night!

Posted by Dustin on 09.02.2012 at 7:57 pm

With every episode that airs, I think I bang my head more and more! The way these people play this game this season is nuts!

Ian ended up winning the HOH. He was in the end with Shane, and Shane agreed to drop if Ian would keep him and Danielle safe, which Ian agreed to do.

Frank knew he was screwed, as did Dan. Dan then turned on Frank (shocker!) and formed another alliance with Ian, suggesting they get the Quack Pack back together. Frank thought he was in good with Dan after last week . . . think again!

Ian opened a “Christmas Themed” Pandora’s Box. He got a special room decorated for Christmas, full of presents that were all for him. He got all these great toys and presents, which he knew meant that the others were getting punished.

Meanwhile the rest of the house got presents from “Jessie Claus.” Yes the show brought back Mr. Pectacular! Actually instead of giving, Jessie took . . . he took all their junk food!

Frank meanwhile kissed some HOH ass and tried to get in good with Ian again . . . this kid needs to find his balls.

Nominations were coming up, and Ian felt bad about having to put Frank up . . . WHAT ?!?! He was thinking he may have to put up Jenn and Joe . . . stupid stupid! Dan did say that Frank can’t make it to the end or the final 2 . . . Neither can you Dan! The only good thing about taking Dan to the end is that the jury may decide he won once and doesn’t need to win again.

At the nomination ceremony Ian put Frank and Jenn up, with Joe as the last key pulled. Ian said Frank was a huge threat and competitor, and Jenn was a threat for her social game.

For some feed spoilers, read on!

First reported by TVLine.com Jorge Garcia, best know as Hurley on “Lost,” will join the show for at this point one episode and will play the Giant from “Jack and the Beanstalk.” The show has already done a few spoofs on the Jack storyline last season, most notably with the magic bean that sent Rumple’s kid into our world.

ABC has also begun airing a season two promo . . .
