Nashville: Teddy Finally Gets Dealt A Blow

Nashville: Teddy Finally Gets Dealt A Blow

Posted by Dustin on 04.17.2013 at 5:03 pm

I thought tonight’s “Nashville” was new so I was going to hold out and post about last week’s and tonight’s episodes together. However it’s not new, it’s a repeat. So is next’s weeks. So I am posting about last week’s episode and then adding upcoming spoilers below.

Rayna got the news that her father had a heart attack, so she and the girls headed home. Avery meanwhile showed up as a roadie on Juliette’s tour of course. While everyone felt Juliette should cancel out of respect, Dante pushed her to use this as her big break . . . after all the tour was originally hers. She then drilled the crew on new songs and berated them for every mistake. Deacon had it and put it in her place for acting like a spoiled brat.

Later as Avery was ordered to search high and low for the queen’s ear microphones, he accidentally saw Dante screwing someone in Juliette’s trailer . . . but we didn’t see WHO. We assumed it was Juliette, I thought it might be her mom Jolene. However Dante immediately fired him later on, but Deacon rehired him and then put Juliette and Dante in their places again. Later Jolene did kiss Dante, which Juliette saw and went postal over. It seems she and her mom have been down a similar road before, so she sent her mom home and planned to get her a new female companion. She however was keeping Dante who was now her manager. So I don’t think it was Jolene he was messing around with, but I also don’t think it was Juliette! The guy is just bad news and seems to be on a power trip.

Deacon left the tour it seems, sending Stacey home with a key. He made comments that it was time for him to hang up the road thing, perhaps find a more permanent and settled gig in town. He also dropped by the hospital to check on Rayna, who was staying with her dad. Rayna got a shock when she learned that Whitey White was the other man in her mom’s life. Her mom packed her bags and left her dad for him the night she got into the accident that killed her. This is why he’s never supported her career, why they’ve always been so distant. She reminded him too much of what he’d lost.

Rayna’s older sister Tandy took over her father’s finances and the company while he was in the hospital. She also found the documents Lamar had on Teddy and how his and Rayna’s divorce got leaked. She went straight to Teddy to give him the shock that it was his precious Peggy who had betrayed him! Finally Teddy got knocked down a little, but not enough as far as I’m concerned.

Elsewhere Scarlett signed the contract with Rayna, and then Gunnar took her out to celebrate and get drunk. Their new neighbor Will joined them. As the episode ended, Gunnar finally started writing new music. However I don’t trust this Will guy at all. I think he’s up to something! I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up stealing Gunnar’s songs.

Read on for the spoilers for the new episode on May 1st.

Dallas Season Finale Shockers . . .

Dallas Season Finale Shockers . . .

Posted by Dustin on 04.16.2013 at 11:00 am

So “Dallas” pulled a 2 hour back to back episode finale last night. I often don’t like these, and I was a little miffed last night as I didn’t realize this and only set the Tivo to record the first hour. Fortunately I watched it on Tivo at Ten so I could set it to record the second part later when it repeated.

Elena and Christopher went to Switzerland to find his mother. While there they found her mother’s old doctor and a woman pretending to be his mother. Elsewhere Rebecca and John Ross learn that Pamela is dead! Over in Europe the doctor tells Christopher that his mother left Dallas because she was so badly burned. However she wanted to go home to him. She was undergoing plastic surgeries when she learned she had pancreatic cancer and died. Cliff has since paid him and the woman, her mother’s nurse, to pretend Pamela was still alive so he could control her shares of Barnes Global.

Emma agreed to go to rehab, but when she left jail she went straight to daddy. Fortunately she’s not an idiot, she played him in order to break into his safe and get evidence. She took some briefcase and a journal, the journal implicated him on drug trafficking. Ryland was arrested.

Christopher found out Elena had been talking to Drew and was furious, breaking up with her. Later he was encouraged by none other than newlywed Rebecca to forgive Elena and make things work. Meanwhile Drew meanwhile managed to frame Ryland’s henchman for drugs. He told Rebecca, who visited him in jail, that her father did indeed know she and the babies were on the rig when it blew. He was killed in jail, probably so he couldn’t further implicate Ryland.

John Ross finds out Cliff’s plane was in Mexico the day JR died. The woman JR was with at the bar also says Cliff was there watching them like a creep. Everyone thinks JR shot Cliff, but they don’t have enough to convict him. They frame him by putting a replica of JRs belt buckle, which was stolen from him, in Cliff’s safe deposit with Rebecca’s help.

Sue Ellen uses her knowledge about the Governor to blackmail him to do her bidding. Number one is getting their land back that he confiscated.

Cliff is arrested, swears he was framed, and is shocked to learn his daughter has turned against him and now the Ewings all have controlling shares of Barnes Global! Cliff’s own gun was used to shoot JR, this is proved by the cops. However he swears it was stolen weeks ago.

Later Bobby reveals the real truth to JR and Christopher. In a shocking reveal, JR learned he had cancer and only had days left to live. He had his henchman steal the gun from Cliff. He knew Cliff made that yearly trip to Mexico. He had the henchmen shoot him with the gun always planning to frame Cliff. Yup, JR killed JR!

At the end, from jail Cliff reveals to Elena that the Ewings have wronged her family like they wronged his own. He says that the land they stole from her grandfather and then later returned to her father was not the same parcel of land. JR switched the parcels, giving them dry land and his family the oil rich land. Elena goes to Mexico at the end to see some powerful guy for help . . .

Meanwhile John Ross goes to see someone with flowers, but it’s not his wife. He goes to a hotel to see Emma, who gives him her father’s briefcase. We don’t know what’s in it, we see a lot of papers. John Ross and Emma then hit the sheets . . .

I was not expecting JR to have killed JR. That was a good twist. I thought the show had been setting Rebecca up to have done it for her father, but then planned to set him up after the explosion killed her babies.

The only thing I didn’t like about the JR killed JR twist was that Bobby went along with the plan to frame Barnes for a crime he didn’t commit. Sure Barnes did other things, but now I feel like Bobby’s character has been a little tainted.

I was really hoping Emma was working against her dad, which she was. However I never thought it would be for John Ross. I do wonder what is in that briefcase he wants . . .

Glee: Shooting Star

Glee: Shooting Star

Posted by Dustin on 04.12.2013 at 10:51 am

“Glee” got really serious last night with “a very special episode” that took on violence and shooting in schools. I had read all the stories about it, new those who had seen it couldn’t comment on the twists and shockers, so I was prepared for anything. Would they actually kill someone off? I have to say when we didn’t see Emma for the entire episode, I was starting to worry up until the end and the reveal as to what happened.

This was a really powerful episode, and the acting all around was superb. I was however screaming at the kids half the time to shut the hell up as they didn’t seem to understand what hide and be quiet meant. Brittany in the girls’ room toilet stall was heartbreaking.

After what seemed to be an eternity, the all clear was given. There was no evidence anyone was shot, no gun, nothing! However metal detectors were installed and kids now had to have backpacks checked. It was assumed someone brought the gun to school, shot it, and got out with it. Will was sure the kid would eventually be found and suspended. This is when Sue said no, it was her gun, she would confess . . . and she did! She told Figgins given recent events she felt safer with a gun. She says it’s legal, and she keeps it locked in her safe. However she was doing her daily check when it accidentally went off, which startled her and she dropped it, and it went off again. She said she took the gun home, she removed the shell casings, she covered up the bullet holes with some moved posters. Figgins had no choice to fire her, and she knew this.

I knew the minute Sue confessed it was a lie, and I suspected she was covering and the only person she’d cover for was Becky. I thought Becky must have found her gun, so she covered for her. The shock was Becky brought it to school! It was her father’s gun and she brought it as she was scared about the future and protection. When Sue tried to take it is when it went off and when Becky dropped it and it went off again.

Have we seen the last of Sue? I don’t believe so. I think the truth will come out eventually. However Sue’s days on the show, and her role, definitely has been diminished this season along with most of the teachers as the show shifts gear to New York. Assuming there is a next season (I don’t think it’s been confirmed yet), it appears it will be set in New York.

What I liked about this story, with all the twists and turns, is that almost every side was covered. First it was thought to be a real shooting. Then it was the accident people fear could happen if teachers bring guns to school. Finally it was a scared student bringing a gun to school, and what can go wrong there. Obviously no solution was reached in the episode on what to do, it just showed a lot of different sides.

Also going on in the episode, Ryder finally learned he was catfished. During when everything went down he tried to call his catfisher who he’d only been texting before, and a phone rang in the Glee room! However as he was hiding, he couldn’t figure out whose backpack it was in. He thought he could count out a few people based on their ringtones, most notably Blaine and Unique. This was just a simple ring ringtone. I am thinking though it is Unique after all. She and Becky were my top two choices, and since we know it’s someone in the club . . . This storyline wasn’t resolved by the end of the episode.

Army Wives and Client List Thoughts

Army Wives and Client List Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 04.09.2013 at 8:07 pm

“Army Wives”
The latest episode of “Army Wives” definitely brought the drama back, and began to endear me a little more to some of the newer wives.

Gloria and Hector signed their divorce papers, and Gloria moved in with Holly. Holly needed a roommate to split expenses, plus she was lonely with her husband in the field. Gloria needed a place to live until she found something more permanent. Gloria also met a new guy at The Hump, Patrick. He asked her out, but she didn’t want to rush into dating again. However Jackie pushed her, so she accepted. Little does either of them know, the guy is Jackie’s “favored son” Patrick! Oh Boy! Not only that, but he dropped the bomb on his mom that he’s enlisted and is going to be shipping out ASAP. Of course he’ll be joining the same division where Hector is, and I’m sure it won’t be long before they both realize they have photos of the same girl. Oh boy!

Once again Joan, Latasha and Maggie’s sons got themselves into trouble! Joan went a little bit overboard and berated both mothers for not being around and watching the kids, when she sends David to their house she expects supervision. Latasha let her have it later on, telling her she never expected such a blasting from a fellow army wife, a fellow sister, and from “Ask Colonel Joan” who she respected. I think this was the first time I liked her, and Joan got the memo loud and clear and later apologized. I do however want to talk about Latasha’s son . . . Deuce. Could we not come up with a better name for this kid? I’m sorry but every time I hear it, I just think of what it’s slang for . . .

The drama between Maggie, Eddie and their kids continues. Eddie’s daughter is a spoiled brat who needs to be put in her place, and Eddie feels Maggie’s son and his troubles reflect badly on him. Both kids need to just be grounded!

“The Client List”
On “The Client List” I am loving the interaction between Selena and the new male masseuse Derek. Who thought I’d ever like Selena? Derek is pretty nice to look at too!

Lacey and Dale, who have been trying to get pregnant for awhile now, got devastating news. Lacey’s eggs are the issue and they have a 10% chance of getting pregnant. Why oh why do I see them asking Riley to be a surrogate at some point?

Riley meanwhile called it quits with Evan after her daughter saw them kiss and became upset. She felt she for some insane reason owed it to her kids and to Kyle not to fully give up on him, their family and marriage. Oh brother!

Dallas: The Seasons Winding Down

Dallas: The Seasons Winding Down

Posted by Dustin on 04.09.2013 at 11:21 am

Man I can’t believe the season of “Dallas” is almost up. It’s really gotten good lately. Last week we were introduced to Steven Weber, the new Governor of Texas (I swear he’s not the guy Sue Ellen originally lost to). We found out that Ryalnd financed the Governor’s run, which is why he needed Sue Ellen to lose. The Governor then helped Ryland get some trucking deals to benefit his company. Meanwhile he also had his friend Ken on the board of TESHA and used that to cover up the explosion on the Ewing rig so that Barnes could get control of Ewing energies and Ellana’s land. By the end of the episode, the Ewings figured this all out . . . but what to do? They then learned thanks to John Ross’ snooping on Pamela’s computer that Cliff’s mother left her three children each 1/3 of the company. Cliff now had 2/3, the final third was in Pamela’s ownership (Pam the original Pam, Christopher’s mother and Bobby’s ex). If Christopher could get these, he’d have leverage! Meanwhile Ryland, pissed that his Emma was dating Elana’s brother, had him kidnapped and beat up in front of her very eyes. When Elana found her brother, he finally confessed all to her . . .

This episode centered around the Ewings coming up with a strategy to hit Barnes and Co. When Elena’s brother confessed to her, he also left a written confession and fled. This started the ball rolling to bring down Ryland, and it also looked bad for the Governor as Ryland was his largest campaign contributor and he controls TESHA. Barnes was furious, but felt they could still control things as Ewing was as good as his.

Meanwhile Pamela/Rebecca convinces her daddy to give her the 1/3 of Barnes that her aunt Katherine gave him. John Ross and Bobby learn of this and form their own plan to make sure they have a connection to that 1/3. John Ross marries Pamela/Rebecca! Oh brother . . . You know Emma is gunna end up pregnant with a whose the daddy storyline now. Meanwhile Christopher and Elena plan to head to Switzerland where they believe his mom Pamela is hiding out and convince her to give him her shares. As this is going on, Barnes thinks he’s sitting pretty as he walks in and takes control of Ewing, but Bobby knows better. He’s set it up for Barnes to eventually fall hard.

Meanwhile Emma goes on a bender with her pills, ends up in a car crash and is arrested. When she lashes out at Anne, Anne decides to leave her in jail. She smartly makes sure Emma is NOT allowed to call her dad, which is good because her dad had just brainwashed her once again and was forcing her to return to him. If she ends up pregnant, I’m sure he’ll be really pleased . . . NOT!

Elana’s brother is on the run, so we don’t know what will happen to him. He seems to be going after Ryland’s henchman, who disappeared after his bail hearing. I don’t think they’ll kill him, because that would make a pregnant Emma storyline more difficult, and it would make Ryland and the Governor look even more guilty.

Next week they are promising we’ll learn who shot J.R. and it’s said to be a shocking twist we won’t see coming. I’m wondering if it will turn out to be Sue Ellen who arranged it, which would explain her own benders as of late? Guilt? That however would knock her out of the show, so perhaps not.

Grey’s Anatomy: Mama’s In Trouble!

Grey’s Anatomy: Mama’s In Trouble!

Posted by Dustin on 04.07.2013 at 7:28 pm

Oh boy did “Grey’s” bring it this week. In my last post I noted that while I had been enjoying the show, nothing had been happening to really “wow” me. This episode brought the shock though! However I don’t think I liked this turn of events honestly. Oh no they didn’t go there!

Meredith and Derek learned that Meredith did test positive for a genetic predisposition for Alzheimer’s. Bailey tried to tell her this didn’t mean she’d develop it, but Meredith being Meredith is already planning her funeral. She was finalizing her will, trying to figure if Christina wasn’t the person to leave the kids to and more. I will admit when she asked Christina to give her a lethal injection the minute she couldn’t find her keys, their dialogue was good. Only Christina could make “You had me at lethal injection” funny.

Ross was still fuming over Brooks being on Derek’s service, and Derek didn’t make things easier for him. Basically Derek told him as book smarts and technical as he is . . . he’s lacking that thing that Brooks has. Go Brooks! Sorry Ross . . . I love Brooks 🙂

April lamented over telling her paramedic the truth about her virginity. When she finally did tell him, he pretty much dumped her. WOW! I think we all knew she’d end up back with Jackson, but I’m not counting him out yet. I can see him returning to try and get her back.

Some doctors from a former Soviet country showed up to learn techniques from the doctors they could perform in the field with limited equipment. None of the doctors were prepared for how limited these two had it, but they stepped up. Throughout this the other doctors continued to bicker over funding for their pet projects. I’m seeing some kind of “Doctors Across Borders” storyline emerging, probably putting Owen in some season finale life or death situation.

Finally, Bailey spent the entire episode berating her former interns for training sloppy interns of their own. It seems poor Leah (who looks way too much like Jo and I can’t tell them apart) came to work with the flu one week, and now all the patients she and Bailey tended to have surgical infections. She thought she’d be fired, Bailey was furious, but in the end another patient turned up that Leah never saw. It looks like Bailey’s in trouble! Oh no, not Bailey! I can’t take it!

The next new episode is not till April 25th . . . So far away! These weeks of reruns are killing me. Poor Bailey!

Nashville: A Scandalous Road Trip!

Nashville: A Scandalous Road Trip!

Posted by Dustin on 04.05.2013 at 10:36 am

This week’s “Nashville” brought the heat that has been missing for a few episodes.

Juliette brought her mom and her mother’s sober companion/sponsor Dante on the road with her. However she stole Dante from her mom for her own use as a life coach, business advisor, and eventually boy toy. This is not going to end up well. Dante should have known better than to get romantically involved with Juliette. Next week from the previews Juliette catches her mom putting the moves on Dante. Oh brother!

Rayna tried desperately to keep her girls from being negatively influenced by Juliette. They wanted to be big stars like her, but it took Rayna’s sister to make her realized it’s their mom who they are idolizing and if she stifles their dreams it will be no different than what dad did to her. The end of the show had Rayna letting the girls practice a song on stage during sound check with the band. There were also some moments of irony when Deacon was watching Rayna perform with Mattie and she said she wished she was beautiful like her mom, but seems to have gotten her looks from her dad . . . When the hell is that secret going to come out?

Speaking of secrets, Deacon’s new girlfriend was a bit miffed to realize he had history with both Juliette and Rayna and wondered why she was even there? Deacon suggested it might be time to settle down and stop going on the road, he could basically become a studio musician or something. He wanted to do this for her, but something tells me he’s just forcing himself to stay away from Rayna.

Back in Nashville, Avery was paying the price for his choices and unable to get a new deal until he could fully pay off his old one to his producer. He ended up having to take a job as a roadie as it paid. My guess is he’s gunna somehow end up on Juliette and Rayna’s gig, and Rayna will like him and offer him a contract.

Gunnar and Scarlett fought over her contract. She didn’t want to sign it, but he made her saying it was him who screwed up and she shouldn’t pay for that. They then met their new neighbor, another Nashville star hopeful. Gunnar and the guy bonded, and it seemed like they could possibly form a duo and make it. However I’m sure Scarlett will come between them somehow. It’s just a redo of their initial story . . . when Gunnar came in between her and Avery.

Lamar was back in form this week. He was not going lose his stadium site because Teddy wasn’t playing by his rules. He learned that Peggy was the one who leaked news of Teddy’s divorce to the tabloids and blackmailed her, suggesting she convince Teddy to reconsider his deal. She tried, but Teddy seems to be intent on sticking it to Lamar. Stupid man! I’m still waiting for it to be revealed he won by cheating. By the end of the episode though hopes that might come out were dashed, as Lamar had a heart attack while home alone!

Read on for spoilers for the next episode!

Body Of Proof: The Truth Is Out There . . .

Body Of Proof: The Truth Is Out There . . .

Posted by Dustin on 04.03.2013 at 7:35 pm

So with “Body of Proof” finally reviving the story of Megan’s father’s suicide, I’m loving it. I’ve even adapted to the new guy Tommy. Megan’s mom gave her a trunk of her father’s belongings, in it was a suicide note she found and hid for all these years. Megan had Tommy analyze it to see if it was really her father’s handwriting. She refuses to believe her dad committed suicide.

Tommy found out that while the handwriting was a match, analysts believe it was written under duress. He cautioned Megan that being suicidal also fits the profile of being under duress. Megan isn’t convinced though. It sounds like her father was probably forced to write the letter. I’m beginning to wonder how much Megan’s mom really knows about what happened and is covering it up? Was her father involved in illegal activities? Was he investigating them? Something is fishy, as Megan’s mom has never let her exhume and examine her father.

Otherwise, I’ve really enjoyed the murder story-lines going on as well. The love thing between Megan and Tommy? Eh . . . Word has it that ABC is probably going to renew only this show or “Nashville.” As much as I also love “Nashville,” I think I’d rather see Body of Proof come back. “Nashville” seems to just be stuck, and hasn’t been all that exciting as of late. Hopefully tonights show will bring the excitement.

Bates Motel: What’s Wrong With Norman?

Bates Motel: What’s Wrong With Norman?

Posted by Dustin on 04.02.2013 at 7:39 pm

So this post recaps the highlights of the last two episodes, along with my thoughts on some of the twists and turns along the way.

Sheriff Romero, aka Sheriff Guyliner, has been up Norma’s ass over Keith’s disappearance. They found his abandoned car nearby the hotel, and he’s gone MIA. He’s sure Norma had something to do with his disappearance. Meanwhile Norma’s eldest son Dylan from her first marriage showed up and blackmailed his way into staying with his mom, who doesn’t like him or his attitude. Dylan said he’s sure the cops would love to know how things between her and her now dead second husband really were, and maybe they’d even start to ask questions as to what really happened to him. I knew it, I knew she probably killed him. Even Dylan thinks foul play was involved. Dylan also is not a fan of Norma and Norma’s bizzarre relationship. He thinks Norman lets Norma control him far too much, and thinks Norma is too fond of her son.

Norman shared the creepy sex diary he found with Jenna, who took it and used the internet to translate it. She found out that it was about an asian sex slave ring, and that when one of the girls died the others were forced to bury them in the woods near a cabin. She recognized some mountain monument in the background, so she convinced Norman to go on a hike to see if this book was real or fake. When they found the cabin in the woods, she realized there really could be dead asian girls buried out there. Later they linked the diary with room 4, which is where Norman found the diary. It looks like it was written and hidden by one of the girls who was kept chained in room 4. Jenna wanted to go to the cops, but Norman refused, because he and his mom were in enough trouble with them.

Norman ended up blacking out and passing out in the middle of a test at school. He was taken to the hospital, and Norma acted very strange when she was asked about his medical history and if he’d ever passed out before like this. Hmmmm, very strange! Is she even his mother? I wonder . . . Meanwhile as Norman was in the hospital, Sheriff Guyliner and Deputy Shelby showed up with a search warrant for Norma’s house. When Norman got home he found out Keith’s belt, which he kept and cleverly hid under his bed, which was in plain sight since his bed sheets didn’t go to the floor, was gone. Norma freaked on him, wondering why he’d keep that . . . what’s wrong with him? Norman wondered what’s wrong with him too.

Meanwhile Dylan got a new job, guarding secret pot fields out in the forest with some other guys. It turns out many of the more prominent families in town run the operation, and that this is what keeps the town afloat. My guess is somehow Dylan is going to get mixed up with the asian sex slave mystery since he’s out in those creepy woods. While talking about his family with one of the guys, he mentioned his mom and half-brother came from Arizona, and before that his mom lived in Colorado or Missouri or somewhere. One of the guys found it odd that he seems to know very little about his own mother’s past. Hmmmmm . . . . I’m thinking Norma has a past mystery of her own before the death of her most recent husband. Dylan also mentioned he hadn’t seen or heard from his own dad in years . . . . Is he as dead as Norma’s second husband?

Elsewhere Norma had to cozy up to Deputy Shelby to figure out what the cops knew. She learned he had spotted and taken the belt, he wanted to protect Norma. Norma knew she’d basically have to put out to keep him shut up. Later she told Norman about Shelby and the belt. That night Norman woke up and found Norma sitting next to him on his bed. She told him that the belt was at Shelby’s house, he got them in this mess, so he had to go get that belt. However what we soon learned was Norma never talked to Norman, it was all in his head. In an almost daze Norman headed to Shelby’s house and broke in to search for the belt. He found a locked basement, and when he found the keys and went down there he found a weird disco play room and then an asian woman locked in a bedroom. She grabbed him and begged him to help her! At that moment Shelby came home, with Norman in the basement with the woman.

Next week from the previews Norma goes to check out the basement and finds nothing, it’s empty. Was the woman there, or is Norman just crazy and seeing things? We know he imagined his mom talking to him in this episode, which makes me now wonder how many other conversations between Norma and Norman were even real?
