Once Upon A Time: Surrender Dorothy

Once Upon A Time: Surrender Dorothy

So the past week saw the introduction of Dorothy, and the end of Zelena . . . at least so we think. In Oz past, Glinda invited Zelena to join her at the witches council, where a seat for the West had been empty for a long time. It had been foretold that a great sorceress would come to Oz brought by cyclone and fill the empty seat. Zelena thought she was too wicked, but Glinda convinced her she could change. When Zelena decided to embrace the future and let go of her past and anger, she lost her green skin. Glinda then gave her a broach, the emerald she now wears, saying it would make her power even greater. However the price was that she was powerless without it.

Soon Dorothy came to Oz, brought by cyclone, and the other witches fawned over her. Zelena grew jealous again, her green returned, and she learned of another prophecy that a second sorceress would unseat the former, who was to be the greatest evil in all of Oz. Glinda tried to tell her they make their own futures, but Zelena wouldn’t listen. She tricked Dorothy into melting her, which would have broken all her spells, including bewitching the Wizard and turning him into a monkey. Only she wasn’t dead, and she pretended to be the “man behind the curtain” in order to send Dorothy back to Kansas so she wouldn’t usurp her power.

Back in Storybrooke, Zelena forced Emma to give mouth-to-mouth to a drowned Hook in order to have her powers removed. I don’t know, that seems a bit like cheating to me. That’s not really a kiss . . . Whatever, without her powers there was nobody with light magic to beat Zelena. She took Snow and Charming’s son and prepared to cast her spell. Meanwhile everyone convinced Regina that she had to harness the power of goodness to fight Zelena. She didn’t think she could, but Henry felt she did have good inside her and she could be a hero. Indeed Regina was able to conjure up light magic and strip Zelena of her pendant and thus her powers. All her previous spells were broken; so magic, hearts, brains and courage returned to their owners.

As the Charmings rejoiced, Regina slyly put Zelena’s pendant in her vault. Meanwhile Gold went to see Zelena, after giving proposing to and giving Belle a copy of his dagger so she thinks she controls his mind and heart, and then he killed Zelena! Or at least he thinks he did. From Regina’s vault, green smoke came out and made it’s way to the place where Zelena had been prepared to cast her spell. It caused a vortex to another land to open . . .

So I really don’t think Zelena is dead, and it looks like she may have been able to cast her spell still. That’s not good! I do have an issue with her losing all her powers when losing the amulet, as she was a witch before it. Also it seems like this season stripping witches powers is so easy to do. Why did nobody ever do that to Regina a long time ago?

I also wonder where Dorothy really is. Did Zelena, posing as the Wizard, really send her back to Kansas? Or is she somewhere else, and will we see her again?

Resurrection Season Finale Thoughts

Resurrection Season Finale Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 05.05.2014 at 9:40 pm

So last night was the season finale of “Resurrection.” Should ABC lose their minds and not renew the show, which is not expected to happen, it could be the series finale. Things look good for ABC to renew it fortunately.

Honestly, after last weeks amazing episode, I felt a little let down this week. I felt so much was so predictable. The very second the African American couple told Jacob’s parents that they were unable to find their son Robert, that he didn’t come back with them, I knew it was Bellamy. They said their son had a birthmark on the back of his neck, and we had to wait for the very last scene for this to come out. I knew it was him based on his past and his interest in various “lost boys.” It’s clear he was a foster kid, and he may have even mentioned it before. I can’t recall offhand.

We learned last week that the Sheriff’s wife came back early on, but had been hiding at her lovers house all along. Again this was not a shock, they hinted at that in episode two. What we did learn was that she rightfully left her husband, who turned out to be an evil jerk. When he found out that she returned and didn’t run to him and their daughter, it looked like she was a horrid mother. I definitely felt for her daughter. However the Sheriff showed his true colors, punishing all the returned in order to punish his wife. He, with the Army’s help, had them rounded up. Unfortunately it got out of control, and the Army was going to cart them all off. I felt like they have been building the sheriff up to be evil incarnate, and it just somewhat fizzled. The minute he saw his daughter being escorted out by the army, and he realized she had figured him out, it’s as if he just wimped out and had realized he had lost. He’s no “Big Jim” from “The Dome.”

Before the army could cart off the returned, things changed big time . . . Something happened and the entire town was put under quarantine. Bellamy was trying to get Jacob out of town to protect him when they ended up hitting a roadblock. One of the roadblocks was the army, who surrounded him for trying to leave. The other was a supernatural one. A swarm of locusts were at the town limits. Well it wasn’t a huge swarm, but they were there. They found all these locust shells on the ground, and some were flying around. So it seems we are back to the Bible and the Book of Revelations. I will really be disappointed if it turns out the returned are in fact evil, or part of some apocalyptic prophecy.

And that is pretty much how the show ended!

Nashville Thoughts Heading Into The Finale Episodes

Nashville Thoughts Heading Into The Finale Episodes

Posted by Dustin on 05.01.2014 at 10:01 pm

So I have been following along with “Nashville,” I just haven’t had time to blog about it, or many shows, as of late. I’m hoping that will be changing soon fortunately.

First up, no decision about the show’s future has been made. It hasn’t been a ratings blockbuster for ABC during first runs on Wednesday, but has been a success when it comes to DVR and OnDemand playbacks. The show also has spurned a tour and albums, so I’m willing to bet they will give it one more season and perhaps move it to another night to see how it does.

I am not that impressed with the resolution to Scarlett’s breakdown and drug addiction. We have found out, so the doctors say, that she’s not an addict. Then what in the blazes happened? It now looks like she may have inherited her mother’s bi-polar issues. It seems either way she comes from a bad gene pool, as we learned Deacon and her mother’s father was an alcoholic and their mother also had mental issues. However she’s out of the clinic, Rayna let her out of her contract, and it seems that is that. I hope we are going to deal with this storyline a little more and not just sweep it under the rug. They made her mother out to be the worst mother since Joan Crawford and now it’s all been dropped. I don’t think so!

Jealous that Avery has paid too much attention to Scarlett during her time of need, Juliette went and had a fling with that horrible head of Edgehill records Jeff Forham! We don’t know what they did other than kiss, but it doesn’t look good. Unfortunately Gunnar saw them come out of the same hotel/bar one after another and they were fixing their disheveled selves up. Just when I had begun liking Juliette they go and do this. However from the spoilers below, it looks like Jeff is going to get what he wants and we are supposed to feel bad for Juliette. Nope not me!

Will and Layla are doing a reality TV show that will only lead to trouble for the closeted singer. I really hope he’s finally outed as this storyline has gone on way too long. I also would not be surprised to learn Layla knows about him. Hell it seems half of Nashville possibly knows! I could totally see Layla attaching herself to him to help her own career. Something about her has always rubbed me the wrong way.

Teddy has been a crybaby the past few episodes he’s been in and I’m pretty much over his character. I’m glad Deacon learned the truth about Teddy and his now ex-girlfriend. From the previews it looks like Rayna and Deacon could be headed for a long overdue reconciliation. Just when I started warming up to Rayna’s new guy Luke! Aw man, which man to chose?

Spoilers for the finale two episodes of the season below!
