Reports broke across the net today that Tori Spelling is in final negotiations to reprise her role as Donna on the CW’s “90210.” No official announcement has been made, nor any information on how many episodes she’d appear on or when.

90210: The Kid Is Not Your Son
Posted by Dustin on 01.06.2009 at 10:19 pm
So 90210 returned tonight. I’ve been watching it all along, and I do think it’s been getting better. Tonight’s episode was pretty good. The main story centered around Harry’s supposed son with Tracy, who of course was too good to be true. Long story short, he was scamming the family and working with the PI to get money. He ended up getting it from Tracy and running with it. Harry’s family was spared, but Tracy was taken for a ride. of course Naomi blamed this all on Annie.
I really was starting to love Naomi, now they’ve just turned her into the show’s mega-bitch who you can’t even love to hate. Something tells me Naomi is soon going to be down and out with her mom though and experience a whole other side of life. I’d say she could always go live with daddy, but that would cramp his lady lovin lifestyle and probably won’t happen.
Christina introduced Dixon the black side of Beverly Hills. He was afraid to tell Silver partly because he didn’t know how to explain this was a part of his culture and heritage he wanted to get to know, part because he wasn’t sure what Christina was after. He soon found out nothing, she has a girlfriend! I thought that was a pretty good twist myself.
Meanwhile Brenda got some life changing news at the beginning of the show from a doctor. They made it sound like she had cancer as she wanted to start treatments, but was told nothing could be done. Adriana at the same time invited Brenda to her AA meeting in place of her mom. Kelly was afraid Brenda wouldn’t show and went with Adriana. Brenda did show though. Later Adriana found out that Hank, the dealer and part time “fun” buddy was HIV+. She had to get a test. She was negative, but pregnant! She freaked, as she apparently had a whole lot of fun with a whole lot of people while using. She didn’t know what to do, or how Naveed would respond.
Brenda meanwhile took the news just as hard. It turns out she had some fibroids removed recently and now can’t have kids. She and Kelly seemed to make up, with Brenda talking about adopting.
I was SO happy to see Brenda back. I was equally glad they weren’t killing her off! That would probably make me turn off the show. I stopped watching the original 90210 shortly after her character left. However I give her and Kelly two weeks before they are fighting again, probably over Ryan.
I also can’t help to think Harry’s “son” isn’t really gone. When he confronted Annie before skipping out of the house to get the money from Tracey, before skipping town, he was creepy. I could see him coming back simply to put Annie’s life in danger somehow.
Beverly Hills: Yes, I’m Still Watching

I haven’t posted on 90210 in a few weeks, but I’m still watching. Of course the loss of Brenda/Shannan last week sucks, though I don’t think they used her to her fullest potential. Kelly/Jennie also left last week to go visit Dylan. Hopefully she’ll be back, but when? I was afraid the loss of them would have killed the show, but it hasn’t.
Ironically I still am not really into Annie’s character all that much. I did get into her a bit with the whole acting in the horror film opportunity, as well as her trying to be nice to that witch snorting the coke (whose name I can’t remember to save my life). Other than that, I really don’t have much interest in her boy drama at all.
Dixon and Silver are cute, but they just seem to be cute and not much else. They aren’t really going anywhere with them other than having them be cute.
Noami has fast become my favorite of the teen scene, from dealing with her parents divorce, to hiding her friends drugs this week and getting busted. Oh and what an OMG ending with her screaming at her friend on the phone for failing to get her out of trouble, not knowing her friend had OD’d!
Mr. Matthews has a new student after his bod, which he’s currently fighting. It was fairly obvious, at least to me, that she’s a narc working to bust up a drug ring at the school. I have a bad feeling when they find out who the big wig running it all it will be that rich guy Annie was interested in for a bit.
Tabitha still remains a hoot, I loved her little skinny dipping issue with the gardener! That and telling Harry to lighten up, she wants to let her freak flag fly.
Harry and his ex are finally going to go look for their son, but she’s obviously using the son in part to try and get back with Harry. That’s pretty predictable. Also Harry’s wife Debbie (Lori Laughlin) finally started getting a story last week with a job, only to have her son screw it up and be reduced back to a home body this week dispensing advice. She also had the best line of the night “No one buts the baby in the corner” in reference to Annie losing her test-baby for school.
All in all, I have enjoyed the last two episodes. While the show has been given a season the on The CW, I don’t know if it will make it to year 2 honestly.
Are you still watching? If so, what are you liking and not liking?
9021-Oh Boy I’m Losing Interest!

Next week’s episode is the last one Shannan/Brenda is scheduled to be on, unless they bring her character back. Honestly, at this point if it wasn’t for Jenny/Kelly still being on the show, I don’t know if I’d continue to watch.
The one story that had me interested this week was the “who’s the daddy” drama with Kelly’s son Sam. Brenda finally revealed it was Dillon when she told Kelly she was still in love with him and hadn’t gotten over him, she needed to admit it to herself as everyone can see it.
Noami’s storyline, with her father’s affair, actually was the other storyline I felt was interesting enough to watch. We learned Silver’s father’s affair caused the rift between her and Naomi, as Naomi told everyone in school about it. Now the shoe was on the other foot, with Naomi afraid Silver would put this on her blog.
The two “main” kids of the show, Annie and Dixon, pretty much bore me to death. I didn’t really care about Dixon’s “car ding” drama and having to get a job to pay for it. If it weren’t for Brenda and Tabitha, I also really wouldn’t have paid attention at all to Annie’s storyline either. In fact the only parts I did watch was with them, I didn’t care one way or the other about the Annie-Ethan-Ty drama going on. Oh and while I’ve never seen “Spring Awakening,” I’m pretty sure there is more than just that one song they keep singing over and over!
Meanwhile their father’s lost child storyline seems to have vanished into thin air. Are they ever going to bring it up again? Then there is poor Lori Laughlin, whose only job on the show seems to be to sit at the family dinner table.
90210 needs to step it up at this point, otherwise I think it’s not going to last.
90210: Maybe We Should Just Make It The Kelly Show?

So I finally watched this week’s episode of 90210. I just wanted to post some brief thoughts on the episode. In summary, the episode was divided into three story lines. First the Wilson family went to the local bowling alley for family fun night. The son and daughter (Annie and Dixon) ended up inviting all their friends to hang out with them, bored by the idea of spending it with their parents. The second story involved the Jessie SBTB look-a-like Naomi learning her dad was cheating on her mom, which her mom already knew. The final storyline involved Kelly going on a date with the English teacher, while her sister Silver slept in shelters as opposed to her own home with her drunk mom. In the end Kelly confronted her mom and took her sister to live with her.
Maybe it’s that I’m partial to the original characters and show, but Kelly’s storyline was the only one I felt I could get invested in at all. Amanda’s storyline was predictable, and the whole family fun bowling night was a snooze to me.
Kelly did drop more hints about her kids’ father, saying it was someone who she was involved with in high school who came back into her life four years ago, and well things happened. Lately he’s finally taken an interest in being part of her son’s life. Speculation in the chatbox is that the father could be Steve based on Kelly’s comments about him and how serious they once were. Hmmm, interesting idea!
I also loved Kelly confronting her mom over Erin/Silver and taking Silver to live with her. With Brenda back next week, hopefully it will be a little more interesting than this episode was.

First up, given it was a 2 hour premier, I’m not about to attempt to recap it. I wanted to watch the premier to soak it all up and get acquainted with the show, not sit and take notes for a recap. Sorry! Plus there is the whole “I’m bad with character’s names till a few episodes in” thing. If you missed it, the premier is set to repeat on Thursday, and I’m sure it will be online to watch on The CW’s website. More than anything, I want to use this post more to give my thoughts on the show, given I watched the original (up until Brenda left at least).
The first thing I noticed was that aside from the zip code, the theme and Brenda and Kelly; this show seemed to be more like “The O.C.” than 90210 to me. Granted “The O.C.” played off 90210 in a big way, but still . . . The whole lacrosse team/jocks seemed straight out of “The O.C.” Given how quickly they went there, I was left with an “O.C. taste” in my mouth.
It seemed like the Kansas kids were accepted by the cool kids a little too fast. I don’t even remember Brenda and Brandon being taken in that fast. I mean we were all in high school once, let’s be honest here . . . the cool rich kids would not be drawn to the new kids from Kansas. I know it’s TV, but a tiny bit of realism would have been nice.
Can we talk about forgiveness? I’ve never seen such backstabbing forgiven in five minutes. BJs in the car, smearing blogs, fights on the team; all forgiven just like that! That concerns me, as so far there doesn’t seem to be the evil bitch of the show. Everyone just gets over what each other seemed to do to one another. It does seem like the popular girl is headed to be the evil bitch, which isn’t shocking to be honest. Oh and was it me, but did she remind anyone of Jessie from “Saved By The Bell?” Well, Jessie when she was in “Showgirls” that is!
Drama all unleashed within the first hour also is a bit shocking. I get they had to really drop the bombs to keep us tuning in. But cheating boyfriends, unknown kids given away for adoption, a “story” about Dickinson’s adoption. It seemed like there were a lot of huge bombs dropped in the first hour. I thought wow, where will they go from here? It’s no surprise that the second hour didn’t seem as engaging to me. Two hours was a lot as well, so it’s no shocker attention span started to go.
Predictability, from the son’s problems with the team to the whole popular girl plagiarizing the girl’s paper, there was a little too much predictability going on for my tastes. The only thing they didn’t do was expose the token lesbian or gay within the first hour . . . though I am suspect of Kelly’s sister to be honest.
Finally Laurie Laughlin, or the lack there of of her. I love her and I felt she was under-used. I hope this changes.
Aside from my gripes, there is enough here that will make me tune in at least for next week and see where things go. I liked Kelly’s kid, who clearly is Brandon’s unless there is a big “Dylan” bomb dropped. I want to know the drama behind the son’s adoption. I want to know who Rob Este’s kid is (you know that is gunna be some shocking dating drama most likely). Also let me say it was very smart of them to prominently feature Kelly and the return of her mother in the promos for next week. Way to make fans of the original return!
