The Return of 9021…Oh No It’s Adrianna’s Kid!
Posted by Dustin on 01.19.2012 at 12:05 pm
So “90210″ returned this week after it’s looooooong winter hiatus. Of course the woman who hit Liam, and called in a fled hit and run to the cops, has now become his new girlfriend! Annie suspects her, and at the end of the episode got her purse as a mix-up at a New Years Party. In it she found all sorts of fake ID’s . . . but from the previews it still doesn’t look like it’s enough to keep her away from Liam. Grrrr!
Navid’s father returned to put an end to this ridiculous under cover story with him and his uncle, promising to turn himself in and put Amal away as well. Thank the heavens, as this story blew! Even though she learned the truth, Silver still felt it was over between them and kept dating the other guy she had met.
Dixon and Adrianna are still together, while Naomi broke up with her cowboy after catching him with Holly. He claimed Holly set her up to find them together, that she jumped him. Naomi eventually believed him, but realized she needed to be on her own for awhile to find out how strong of a woman she could be. Naomi remains the only reason in my opinion to even watch this show anymore. She’s the best actress and has the best stories.
Ivy and Raj are still apart, and she’s moved on with her photography guy. She’s unaware still that Raj lied about his health and is dying again . . . .
Finally the show ended with Silver meeting her new guy’s kid . . . which of course turns out to be the baby Adrianna gave away! Earlier in the episode Adrianna was wondering how her daughter Maisy was doing. Oohhhhhh noooooo! This is going to get messy. At least that little reveal spiced up the show.
9021 . . . .Oh Why Do I Still Watch You?
Posted by Dustin on 11.16.2011 at 10:35 pm
Believe it or not, I am still watching “90210.” I just usually catch up after it’s aired. Now that it’s on Hulu it’s much easier than waiting 1+ weeks for the CW to post it to their site. It’s been AGES since I wrote about the show, so here are some of my thoughts on the various stories . . . .
Naomi is and continues to be the best part of the show. Annie and Dixon who? I am still saddened to see her and Max break up, but I loved the Halloween episode with Austin’s dad . . . aka Mr. Achey Breaky Heart himself. Well I didn’t so much like that Holly once again took Naomi down . . . she makes Naomi look like a saint. I have high hopes Naomi will eventually have the last laugh on her.
I don’t like what they are doing with Ivy and Raj, and her seemingly growing attraction to Nick. I can see where this entire story is headed, especially with her winning the photo journalism trip with Nick and Raj learning his cancer is healed (and him wanting to go to medical school). The writing is on the wall. They’ll say that the two of them got caught up in the romance of him dying, it was their own little fairytale . . . they never thought what if he lived. Well at least Ivy didn’t . . .
Dixon’s drug habit . . . . why? We went through this with Adrianna not long ago. The only reason I can see for it is to make Adrianna good again, and have her gain her lost friendships back by helping Dixon. Meanwhile Annie whoring herself out to pay for Dixon’s treatment? BARF! She’ll either end up in jail and needing her own financial help, or hooked on drugs to deal with her whoring and end up needing help like Dixon.
Watching Brandy play a politician has been hilarious, but I have liked seeing her play a lying cheating one that will do anything to win. Brandy a bad girl? Who would have thought! Well she claimed the greater good prevailed . . . but that’s how all politicians rationalize playing dirty.
Poor Teddy, this story they’ve given him as a send off I feel has been terrible and a slap in the face. He’s still deep in the closet, even if he has come out to his friends. He’s basically putting himself back in the closet to please his family, and he’s alienating the guy he likes with all his “your political fight isn’t my fight” talk. I hope he gets some kind of happily ever after before they write him off and we never see his character again . . .
Pan Am, Ringer, 90210 Thoughts . . .
Posted by Dustin on 10.12.2011 at 10:28 pm
So I am pretty sure “Pan Am” just isn’t gunna be flying much longer. I watch it every week, I’ve tried to like it and get into it, I just can’t. Based on the sinking ratings, I’m not alone. It’s slow and the drama isn’t there. I feel like the nostalgia aspect is the only reason I’m still watching . . . and I’m not old enough for it to be my own nostalgia!
“Ringer” I once again loved. I felt so bad for Gemma in this episode! I did not see her getting killed at all. Well, is she really dead? What about Bridget’s sponser? Some of the things I guessed at, like the daughter misunderstanding the NA meeting and thinking she was going to rehab, and the daughter telling her dad about Shioban being a women who cheats with married men . . namely him. I’m kinda wondering if Henry knows the truth, if he is the one Shioban is calling. When he got his manuscript and it said “Call Me” on it I was suspicious.
I forgot to watch “90210″ last week, and it doesn’t seem like I missed much. I stand by my last thoughts that Naomi is the only interesting storyline anymore. Annie being a prostitute? Bleh! Dixon on Speed? Bleh! Navid and the stolen car ring? Bleh! I feel like the show has become a predictable mesh of all the bad 80s movie teen storylines they could combine into an hour.
A Hodge Podge: Pan Am, Dirty Soap, Ringer, Fringe, Secret Circle, 90210 Thoughts . . .
Posted by Dustin on 10.03.2011 at 7:17 pm
This is a quick post with some quick thoughts on a bunch of other shows I’ve watched over the week, but didn’t get around to doing a full post on, but wanted to squeeze some quick thoughts out on . . .
After episode two of “Pan Am” I’m thinking people at ABC might not only be having doubts about canning “Brothers and Sisters,” but here is hoping they may be giving having this be “Desperate Housewives” final season. The ratings for the second episode went downnnnn. For me, the best story they had going was the mystery surrounding Bridgett, and they resolved it in the second episode! I’ll keep watching, but other things might start taking priority when the networks no doubt beging shifting things.
Have you tuned into “Dirty Soap” on E! O M G! This show is just more drama than you’ll see on any soap. The Kirsten Storms vs Farath Fath (Belle vs Mimi) drama alone is worth tuning in for! But then you also have Farah and Nadjia (Mimi and Chloe) facing off with their mother or mother-in-law-to-bes over the men in their lives. OMG it’s just such a sick and twisted show!
“Ringer” I’m still loving, it’s my most new favorite show so far . . . that may change this month with the onslaught of fairy tale shows and “American Horror Story.” I do wonder how long they can take the premise. I mean eventually the truth that Siobhan is alive and Bridget has been impersonating her will be exposed.
“Fringe” . . . Oh I still love you, but you make me scratch my head. With Peter gone, I guess we are just supposed to figure the Broyles on the other side never died? Cause he was back with no explanation this week! I do feel my initial thoughts were right, half of the season will be with Peter missing. Grrr!
I am really starting to get into “Secret Circle.” The latest episode with a guy from their parents past coming to end the new circle, and the titillating fact that Cassie’s mom might not have been all that good . . . putting some friend into a cationic state was just great. Why did she do it? What do the evil parents want? I’m really starting to like the show!
“90210″ . . . what can I say about you? Naomi is the only thing worth watching for anymore. Eventually Silver and Adrianna are going to have a huge WTF moment over the fact they fought over Navid . . . one of the biggest tools on the show. I don’t care about Dixon’s recording job, I don’t care about Liam’s bar, I only marginally care about Annie and her money woes. This show is probably not going to be around for another season.
CW Premier Week Thoughts: 90210, Ringer, Secret Circle
Posted by Dustin on 09.18.2011 at 5:10 pm
So this post contains my thoughts on the latest episodes of “90210,” “Ringer” and “Secret Circle.” If you haven’t seen the premier episodes, then there are potential spoilers here!
First up, “90210.” I’m not going to lie, I have been reorganizing my Tivo recording lists and removing programs that got canned last year. I’ve already removed “90210″ from my Tivo. I’ll watch it if nothing else interferes, but my interest in the show was lost last season. This season I don’t see much that is going to suck me back in . . . yet. They criminally overhyped the Teddy story last season, which was hardly present save for maybe 2 episodes. This season we’ve already learned Trevor Donovan is going to be written out after about 6 episodes. That hasn’t stopped the show from hyping his major “touching story” this season. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice . . . . It’s already been spoiled that Teddy is going to get gay-married (See After Elton). Thanks but no thanks! Last season’s storyline with Dixon and Navid running Shirazi Studios really was one of my breaking points, and now we have Navid and Silver raising Navid’s bratty teen sister? Again . . . thanks but no thanks! The one story I really did enjoy in the later half of last season was Naomi’s storyline involving her love affair with the nerdy Max, and ending up pregnant. Now we learn not only was it a false alarm, but a relieved Max dumped her and left town! Jeeze! Let’s not even talk about the annoying cowboy character they introduced as pure eye candy. I’m just going to go ahead and predict this will be the final season of “90210.”
Next up is “Ringer.” This show was called by many entertainment sites/magazines as the best new show of the season . . . the one to watch . . . and so on. I didn’t know if that was true, or if it was some serious Buffy butt kissing! I never did get into Buffy, so I am not coming in with a SMG bias. I have to say . . . I loved it! The show is basically a soap opera “twin sister replacement plot” taken to an insane level . . . and I think that’s why I liked it. Sarah Michelle Gellar plays dual roles. Bridget is a down and out stripper and ex-addict, who is on the run from a mob boss who wants her dead to keep her from testifying against him. Siobhan (pronounced Shah-von) seemingly has it all, a rich husband and an amazing life . . . but is cheating on her husband with her best friend’s husband, and has a step-daughter she hates. When the two estranged sisters meet after years of not speaking, Siobhan mysteriously disappears during their “get to re-know one another” boat ride off the coast of the Hamptons. Apparently having killed herself, Bridgett sees a way out of her troubles, by pretending to be her sister. Of course she only ends up realizing her sister had as many issues as she did! To say anymore would spoil the show’s premier, and if you haven’t watched it you should! This show will make you say “Holy Bleep” several times, and the final twist was one of the best! It’s really a double twist because you expected the first, not the second!
Finally we come to “Secret Circle.” Many of you had commented that it was somewhat slow. It was, but sometimes that is expected in a show that has as many characters as this one does, you have to set things up. That didn’t bother me as much as the fact that I felt I’d seen this show so many times before. The show is also based on a set of books apparently written by the author of “The Vampire Diaries.” I just couldn’t get into that show, which may be a blessing. I may be spared overlapping story/plots between the two!
The show is about Cassie, a recent orphan who goes to live with her grandma after her mother dies in a fire. What she doesn’t know is it was murder, and orchestrated. She arrives in her new town, makes new friends (and enemies) fairly quickly. Cassie eventually learns that she is one of 6, who make up a circle of powerful witches. Their parents were the original 6, but something went wrong and each of them lost a parent in an “accident” the circle was involved in. Because of what happened, the town elders banned witchcraft. Cassie’s father was one who died, and her mother took her away to protect her from ever falling victim to that life. What we learn is that another member of the previous circle (Gale Harold’s character) who is the father of Cassie’s new BF (Shelly Hennig of “Days”) is the one who killed her mother in the fire . . . to bring Cassie to the town, to complete the circle. He and another member of the old circle want something from the new circle . . . . I’m going to guess off the bat it probably has something to do with necromancy or reviving an old member who really isn’t dead . . .but is in a coma somewhere. Of course Cassie finds a letter from her mother at the end, hidden in her grandmother’s house, warning her if she’s reading this then she is dead . . . and nobody is around to protect her from those who will come to use her for her amazing powers.
The show reminded me a lot of “The Craft.” The circle can’t be complete without the main character, who out of all the witches is the one truly gifted with the most power. Other aspects have also been done before, such as the quaint little town which really is a secret society of witches (See the horrid “Bay Coven” on Netflix). I do have a soft spot for witch themed shows/movies, so I will give this one a chance and see how it plays out.
9021. . . . Oh No! Deleted from Tivo
Posted by Dustin on 06.10.2011 at 4:49 pm
Not sure how I missed THIS bit of news earlier in the week . . . but it pretty much seals the deal for me that this show is dunzo . . . . at least for me.
Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that Trevor Donovan — whose heretofore-closeted alter ego Teddy was at the center of a high profile coming out storyline last season — will not be returning to The CW soap as a series regular for Season 4.
They squandered the most interesting and highly publicized story of the season, they shoved crazy cousins and Adrianna down our throats, and then they dissed Aunt Becky and Mr. English Teacher in the finale.
I can safely say I won’t be making it a priority to watch “90210″ on Mondays anymore.
9021 . . . Oh No Off To College They Go!
Posted by Dustin on 05.29.2011 at 4:05 pm
So I know I haven’t blogged about “90210″ in ages, and there is a reason . . . the show got boring, at least for me.
The story that they had hyped even before the season started was Teddy’s coming out . . . but it seems they were too afraid to do much with the story. Aside from about 2-3 episodes devoted to him and that story, we never saw much of him this season.
Cousin Emily wrecked the first half of the season for me, and Crazy Adrianna wrecked the second half.
The only story I found myself liking near the end was the Naomi and Max story . . . and now there are rumors the actress who plays Naomi may want off the show to pursue movies :-\
The Dixon and Navid form a business story I thought was ridiculous.
I didn’t mind the Ivy storyline near the end, I thought it was somewhat sweet. I’m assuming her husband will be dead when the show returns though.
I was very disappointed in the whole Ryan/Jen/Debbie storyline. It’s like they just dropped it. Actually the DID drop it. Ryan and Debbie will not be on next year. In the spoiler/summary for the finale, Ryan was supposed to ask Debbie to move to France with him . . . and that part was just dropped all together from the show. They didn’t even get a real goodbye.
I’m honestly not sure if I’ll watch in the fall. I might tune in, but “90210″ didn’t get top priority these past few months, and a few times I even forgot it was on. So they’ll have to have a good story to suck me in come fall. Given that they are all off to college, I don’t know . . . . That’s about the point where I stopped watching the original “90210.”
90210: Nah Nah Nah Nah, Hey Emily, Goodbye!
Posted by Dustin on 03.02.2011 at 7:59 pm
So this week was the last new “90210″ until well into April. Woah! I guess they don’t want to go up against the “Dancing With The Stars” juggernaut? I’m not sure, but fed up with the entire Cousin Emily storyline, I fast forwarded through a lot of this episode I’m afraid. I just couldn’t take her anymore!
This entire Shirazi Studios 2.0 storyline annoys me to no end, so it was the one I fully skipped over. Two kids running a recording studio and hoping to get famous stars to use it? Yeah right! Your in high school, act like it. The Stoner Ivy falling for a guy with leukemia also did nothing for me and I skipped most of it.
I actually really enjoy the whole Naomi and her geek love story. I loved that she gave him and his friends hell, pointing out they could be as nasty and as shallow as hers or anyone else at West Bev. I did think it was a little silly that the geek (I can’t remember his name!) was worried about his reputation should people found out he was dating Naomi. Really? I think your reputation would soar frankly. I wonder though how long they can hide this from everyone? My guess is they’ll get caught together in the next Spring Break themed episode.
The Silver and Adrianna war heated up, with Silver finally admitting to Adrianna she slept with Navid. Adrianna said she knew, and sent a naked photo of everyone at the school of Silver! Okay aside from the fact that is very illegal, I would think it’s not the publicity she’d want to create for herself after all the bad publicity she’s had. Adrianna’s character has just been totally destroyed. I don’t see myself liking her again.
Finally this episode saw the departure of Cousin Emily, who was set up by Annie and Liam at her own surprise party. Liam got her to reveal her true colors about everyone, not knowing everyone was hiding in Annie’s living room to surprise her for her birthday. I love that she decided to pack it up and go to Arkansas . . . . but her downfall could have been a whole lot harsher given the crap she’s been pulling on Annie. Will Annie even get her old job back? The part in the play?

So I’m still watching “90210,” and am actually enjoying most of it . . . except the Cousin Emily story. As I’ve said before, it’s just been so over done at this point, and done better. Every time she was on in this past week I just wanted to scream and slap people. I really hope they don’t drag this thing out to the point where she predictably sleeps with Liam.
The Guru Sonja story I really liked. I loved not only seeing Naomi get her revenge, but fall for the nerd. Also Sonja saying “Take me to In-And-Out, I need red meat” was hilarious. Why though did Naomi not think to just ask “Show of hands, how many did Sonja tell you that you were the chosen one?” Seems to me that would have gotten the problem solved a lot quicker.
I loved that they are finally giving the Teddy storyline more than two seconds in an episode. I was sad to see the old guy go, but blackmailing him to try and get him to come out of the closet was a low blow. This new sports guy Marco seems like a better fit.
Finally as if Crazy Cousin Emily was bad enough, now Silver has to watch her back because Insane Adrianna is after the woman Navid cheated on her with. This is going to get dirty. I smell a huge cat fight coming at some point.
9021….Oh No They Pulled The Cousin Card!
Posted by Dustin on 01.25.2011 at 4:32 pm
Last night “90210″ returned, and they added a new character, Annie and Dixon’s incredibly annoying cousin Emily. Whenever a show plays the “cousin” card it’s usually not a good sign. I don’t know why they played it this early, because this annoying brat of a character really wasn’t needed at all. She was annoying five seconds after opening her mouth.
I loved the resolution to the Naomi and Mr. Cannon story, but wonder where they’ll take her character now? Maybe have her date Oscar, who was nowhere to be found?
The only other story I was interested in was the Teddy drama, which was just a minor story on this episode.
Adrianna’s fall was as painful to watch as her scheming climb to the top. They’ve made her character so unlikable I don’t know where they’ll take her.
The Dixon and Ivy story is also just painful.
Annie finally chooses between Liam and his brother Charlie, but of course Liam doesn’t want to rock the boat now that he has his brother back since they made nice, and Emily has been in town five seconds and is obsessed with Liam. YAWN!
I don’t know if “90210″ is must see TV anymore, especially with “Pretty Little Liars” on ABC Family. I think “90210″ is going to get put on Tivo till I have time to watch it if these storylines continue . . . .
