AHS Coven: Burn The Witch!
So it’s been a few weeks since I blogged about AHS, but I’ve been loving every episode. The twists and turns this season have been amazing. With the swamp witch bringing both Myrtle and Madison back from the dead, one has to wonder who will really stay dead on this show?
The twist that Cordelia’s husband has been working for Marie Laveaux definitely blew my mind. We got the hint that something was up with him an episode or two earlier, but I would never have guessed that!
Was it Myrtle who really did blind Cordelia? All we know is Fiona claims it was, but she had to frame her to prove it to the others. We saw a flashback where Fiona saw Myrtle in the mysterious outfit in an elevator, but was it really her or was that a lie of Fiona’s? Also couldn’t Swamp Witch heal Cordelia’s face and eyes with her magical mud?
Even though she’s sadistically evil, I was actually sad to see Queenie hand Lalaurie over to Marie Laveaux. I also really don’t like the idea of her mixing in with that Voodoo cult. She needs to go back to the Witches!
Fiona and the Ax-Man is just creepy and weird! I can’t get into them at all. The whole fact that he’s gone from loving her like a father to loving her like a man, ew no! It’s just too nasty.
The whole threesome relationship between Zoe, Madison and Kyle is sooooooooo gross! She’s having sex with two zombies basically. Ewwwwwww.
The coming Cordelia vs Fiona war should be interesting! Fiona seems to be getting some new powers herself now that she’s been blinded. Zoe’s powers are also growing. Then there is Madison, who Fiona thought would be the next supreme. Who will be though? My money is on Zoe at this point.
AHS Coven: The White Witch Herself!
I’ve gotta catch up with a post on my recent thoughts on AHS:Coven, but the news dropped today via Ryan Murphy’s Twitter that Stevie Nicks herself will be making a guest appearance later this season as herself.
I can’t wait! I also can’t wait to see what becomes of Myrtle Snow now that Misty Day resurrected her at the end of last week’s episode. Will she hide out in her swamp shack with Kyle aka Frankenstein boy?
American Horror Story: Voodoo Zombie Nightmare!
So I didn’t make a post about last week’s episode. I think it can be summed up in the statement “American Hillbilly Horror Story” though. What the hell was that? Precious/Queenie engaging in beastiality. Kyle and his mother getting it on? Ewww! Honestly I don’t understand this hard-on that Ryan Murphy has for Evan Peters. Tate was an ass in season 1, the alien storyline was the worst part of season 2, and now this Frankenstein Kyle in season 3 is just not needed. Please, for the love of Glee, give us an Evan Peters free season 4!
This week the truce between the white witches and Marie Laveau and her voodoo witches was broken. After Queenie did not get some “good lovin” and was left for dead, Fiona sent the head of Bastian to Marie’s shop. We did learn that Fiona’s predecessor was the one who negotiated a truce with Marie.
Meanwhile Nan could no longer hear Madison’s thoughts and called the council. We got some backstory here, as Francis Conroy’s character Myrtle Snow has always been Fiona’s enemy. They were in school together when Fiona killed the old Supreme to take over. Myrtle tried to expose her then, and failed, and she tried to expose her now for Madison’s death and failed too. The butler, who has been covering for her, is in love with Fiona. Oh and he has Madison dressed up as a living dead doll in his room. Ewwww!!!!!
Cordelia came to her mother’s defense with the council saying the Supreme is supposed to be in glowing health, even having a pink aurora to show this. However Madison had a heart murmur which was a carefully guarded secret. Did Cornelia lie for her mother? Is someone else actually the new supreme? If so, who?
Hank was away on a business trip. We learned he’s a DEA agent. He apparently hooked up with some girl he met online, screwed her like a beast, and later blew her brains out. WTF !?!?!?! When she asked him what he was last Halloween, he said “a monster!”
By the end of the show Cordelia and Fiona were in a bar getting drunk. As she puked in the bathroom, a woman in black approached Cordelia and threw acid in her face! Who was it? Marie? It looked like it, but we never saw their face. Meanwhile an army of zombies approached the school, including Madam Lalaurie’s three daughter. Oh hell!
I will say the one thing that I didn’t like was that they did not stay true to the voodoo idea of the zombie. They went with the “Walking Dead” variety. I would have liked to have seen them at least portray voodoo somewhat accurately.
American Horror Story: I Will Eat You!
So tonight was the second episode of “Horror Story” and it was great. I can already tell this season may just be the best one yet if they keep it up. We got some answers, but as usual are left with more questions.
So in this episode we learned the girl who was burned, Misty Day (Lily Rabe) is very much alive and living in a swamp shack. She’s addicted to Stevie Nicks too, even dresses like her and calls her the “white witch.”
After almost being busted by the cops for what happened with the bus and the kid in the hospital, Madison and Zoe headed to the morgue to bring Kyle back to life with a stolen resurrection spell. Unfortunately the boys were in pieces, so they played Dr. Frank’n'furter and selected the best parts to build the perfect boyfriend, using Kyle’s head. The spell didn’t seem to work, and Madison fled leaving Zoe alone when the mortician showed up. However somehow Misty was drawn to her. She saved Zoe and brought Kyle back and then took them both to her shack. She never knew another witch other than Stevie. The two seem to compliment one another’s powers, life and death. Nothing good will probably come from this friendship. Misty offered to take care of Kyle and heal him until Zoe could return.
Fiona was still on her quest for youth and learned more of Lalaurie’s backstory. Marie Laveau not only killed her family, but gave her an immortality potion and not a love spell. This was punishment for Lalaurie’s crimes against her slaves and Marie’s lover. She then sealed her in a box and then buried her, after hanging her entire family.
Fiona went to Laveau’s modern day hair salon to get this secret from her, but Laveau wasn’t giving it up. Yup Angela Bassett is Marie Laveau, still alive after all these years. There is bad blood between the African voodoo practitioners and the European descended witches. Laveau says it was Tituba way back in Salem who gave the white girls the power, and it seems the white witches are all descended from the Salem witches. Well this is a huge stretch, since there were witches in Europe too. But whatever. Fiona of course doesn’t see it that way at all. She said she has something Laveau wants, she’d be in touch later on. Marie Laveau later reveals her lover that Lalaurie tortured is still alive too, and she wants to find Lalaurie and get revenge again.
We learned that Cordilla, Fiona’s daughter, is having trouble conceiving. Modern medicine wasn’t working. Her husband convinced her to use magic to help them conceive, though she warned them it was dark magic, like playing life and death. Yup, nothing good will come of this either. That kid is gunna be trouble. I can’t figure out if her husband is a witch too though? Or he just knows what she is?
My favorite part of the show was Queenie’s backstory. She is descended from Tituba’s line. You know that’s gunna be a problem and that she’ll probably team up with Marie Laveau at some point. I loved when she looked at Madison and said “Bitch I will eat you!”
American Horror Story Coven Premier!
So for once I’m glad I was so busy this summer that I didn’t read through all the emails I get on TV shows . . . cause I went into “Coven” pretty blind, aside from knowing it was witchcraft and who was starring in it this season. I missed the first minute, came into Kathy Bates and immediately identified her as Madam Lalaurie . . . it took 2 minutes to figure out Angela Bassett would be playing Marie Laveau, 45 minutes before she came on screen (yes I racial profiled!). I squealed with at the notion of Marie Laveau! Of course there is that academic part of me that will deconstruct this all, like the fact that there is no evidence at all the two knew each other Also at least the last time I was there, which mind you was around 2007, Lalaurie’s mansion was a private residence and not a museum (and it was the 3 previous times I was there).
The story this year is about a school for young witches in New Orleans. As the students it’s got Violet from the first season, as well as Addie from the first season (the girl with Downs Syndrome) . . . . LOVE HER! Oh and Precious too . . . LOVE HER! Jessica Lange is the Supreme Witch in control of the school, Sarah Paulson is her daughter and the headmistress she took over from, and Frances Conroy is some crazy witch who recruits girls for the school. Lange’s character is obsessed with eternal youth, and seems to be the big bad this year and Bassett seems to be her adversary (in the present). I haven’t yet figured out if Bassett is supposed to be Marie Laveau (still alive, hey Lalaruie is!), or a descendant, or someone totally different.
So far, aside from the fact I’m going to deconstruct and criticize the historical and cultural accuracy’s, I’m loving it! I can’t even begin to recap this episode without watching it 2 more times, which I’m sure I will. It was mind blowing. The best part? NO ALIENS!
Watch it! I know I will again
American Horror Story Season 3: Coven!
Out of the Paleyfest this past week news came of the title of next season’s “American Horror Story” . . . Coven! This confirms that witches will be the main theme, and it was also revealed at least part of the show will be set in New Orleans.
Kathy Bates will be a new headliner for the season, playing a very bad woman. Returning will also be Jessica Lange, who is playing something described as a “glamour cat lady,” Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters and Frances Conroy. Frances is said to play a much larger roll this time around. Also returning is Taissa Farmiga (Season 1) who will be one of the leads involved in the love story the season is set around.

American Horror Story Asylum Comes To An End . . .
So this past week we said goodbye to another show that ended its season. “American Horror Story” is over until October, when a new chapter will begin. Some hints have already been dropped. It’s supposed to be a modern day Romeo and Juliet, but with a twist. Jessica Lang, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson are all back in some fashion. Apparently some actors from the first season will also be returning, such as Taissa Farmiga (Violet Season 1) who will be a lead character.
As the season came to its end, pretty much so did the lives of most of the characters we’ve come to enjoy. Though given the nature of the show, that was expected. I still feel like I needed a few more answers here and there.
Lana Banana become a big famous author after writing her book about the asylum and Thredson, a book she called “Maniac.” Apparently much of the book was fiction. She completely whitewashed her relationship with Wendy, she claimed her baby died, and who knows what else she fibbed. Others like Kitt went on with their lives, but weren’t happy with how Lana had become famous and forgotten them all. Kitt lost both Grace and Alma, but eventually remarried. He also went back for Sister Jude/Judy and brought her to live with him and his kids. Judy eventually passed on, and I felt bad that she was never forgiven by the church and in some way exonerated by them. She became their scape goat in so many ways. Who knows, perhaps she didn’t want their forgiveness, and she herself did some pretty terrible things during her reign.
Lana eventually had some attack of guilt and went back to shut down Briarcliff, oh and to get more book deals and TV specials in the process. We learned Monseigneur Timothy eventually killed himself after all the horrible things came out, and his own guilt caught up with him. She reconnected with Kitt and learned all about Jude/Judy, who she originally thought was dead. She did initially go back for her after she got out, but the Monseigneur lied about her saying she was dead and hid her away from all for years.
Kitt’s kids basically grew up to be geniuses. Kitt ended up with cancer, but mysteriously disappeared. We saw what really happened, the aliens came for him. I wish we learned more about the aliens, what they were after, their bigger plan, etc. Clearly they saw something in Kitt’s DNA that they liked. Though wouldn’t that have been smart enough to pick someone without cancer genes? Frankly the aliens were the one thing I didn’t like about this season and feel we could have done without all together.
In the end Lana decided to have one final TV interview where she finally came clean about all the lies over the years. Meanwhile her son, Bloody Face 2.0, made his way into her place posing as part of the crew and biding his time. He had been stalking her for years. However Lana was no idiot. She recognized him immediately thanks to some cops coming to see her earlier about the recent murders that they suspected him of. When they were alone, he finally struck to kill her and make his father proud. However Lana Banana turned the tables on him and shot him in the head! And fade out . . .
I was actually stunned with the end and Lana offing her own kid. However I shouldn’t have been, as the show is just twisted and anything can happen. As much as I didn’t like some aspects, I will miss the show and will count down to the new season. I’m really hoping that Frances Conroy is somehow part of the new season, as I just adore her. I am also hoping for ghosts again.
American Horror Story: Bloody Face Unmasked! Plus AHS Renewed!
First up, a third season of “American Horror Story” has been ordered, and once again Jessica Lange will be back in a new incarnation. Start paying attention for clues people, as last year we were given clues as to the setting of this season in the final episodes.
The last two episodes have dealt with a new patient played by Franke Potente who claimed to be Anne Frank. Not only did she claim to be Anne Frank, who survived the death camps, she claimed Arden was a Nazi general named Hans Grouper. In the end, it seemed like it was all a fantasy in her head. Anne’s husband showed up and claimed she fell victim to this delusion shortly after the birth of their child. Basically she was suffering from postpartum depression. Arden ended up doing a lobotomy on her, and she returned home a stepford wife. However as she was throwing all the research she had been gathering up away, we saw a picture of what definitely appeared to be Arden standing behind Hitler! So maybe she was right about him, even if she wasn’t in the camps.
Sister Jude went to see a Nazi hunter with the information on Arden she had gathered from Anne. Later though, when she realized Anne was all wrong, she called him back to tell him to forget it. Arden told Jude she would be out soon, her latest screw-ups would ensure he took over the assylum. Jude then went all Sister Slutty, got all dolled up, drunk, and picked up some strange man at a bar. Oh my!
Meanwhile Kit and Grace were scheduled to be sterilized after being caught “baking” in the bakery. Kit learned why Grace was in Briarcliff, she killed her father and step-mother who had been sexually molesting her. However the authorities didn’t believe her. Kit was forgiven for his transgression and would not have his boys chopped off, but Grace was to be sterilized. However she later ended up being abducted by the same aliens who took Kit, and on the mother ship saw Kit’s wife Alma. She was returned to the hospital in a state of shock.
Things went from bad to worse for Kit. He began thinking maybe he did kill those women, and talked to Dr. Thredson who taped this and turned it over to the cops. As Kit was being dragged away by the cops for his confessions to these crimes, Grace tried to tell him about Alma. She tried to scream that his wife was still alive!
Meanwhile, as all this is going down, Thredson worked to break Lana out of the asylum and then took her to his place. This is when things went very wrong for Lana. She began to notice weird things in his apartment, furniture made out of odd materials. Skin, bones, skull caps . . . As she tried to run for it, he trapped her in his basement of horrors where Wendy’s dead body was. Thredson then revealed himself to be Bloodyface!
Meanwhile Sister Mary Eunice sucked up to Arden to position herself as his right hand woman. He knew what she did for him, disposing of his latest creation in the woods. He felt he could trust her. However she didn’t put the woman in the woods. She dropped her off outside of a school where she was seen by a class of school kids and their teacher. Oh boy!
My Thoughts . . . .
Half way through the latest episode is when I realized Thredson was Bloodyface. I can’t believe I never considered him before, so bravo for that surprise twist! I really hope poor Lana is able to escape him, but I guess I shouldn’t get my hopes up. I mean, last season pretty much everyone died.
I’m still thinking Arden may be exactly who “Anne” claimed him to be. It looks like the Nazi hunter that Sister Jude hired will be showing up to investigate him. I bet he’ll end up being disposed of by his creations in the woods at some point.
Sister Mary Eunice is still possessed, so it will be interesting to see what happens with her and how it plays out.
As for Kit, Alma and the aliens. I’m not sure where they are going with this one. I still think this story could have been done without the aliens part. Maybe there will be a twist with them too, and they aren’t really aliens.
Thoughts Going Into Tonight’s AHS Episode . . .
I didn’t post about last week’s “American Horror Story,” so I thought I’d make just a quick post before tonight’s episode.
Last week’s episode had a Nor’easter hitting the hospital, which meant Kit, Lana and Grace were going to make an escape attempt. Wait what? Such deja vous! I had thought after last week Lana would have realized Kit was innocent, but nope she hadn’t! However once they escaped, they ran right back inside after they encountered Arden’s monsters. That’s when Thredson told Lana that he checked up on her “friend” as she begged him to, and he’s afraid something may have happened to her and that perhaps the killer hadn’t really been caught . . . . Dum dum dum dum!
I have to say I am loving possessed Mary Eunice, but wonder how long she can go on without being found out. When she tried to seduce Arden I was seriouslly laughing my ass off. I also loved when she was disturbed from the movie at the point where the Christians were just about to be eaten and how upset she was.
Sister Jude is now being haunted by the demons of her past, namely the little girl she mowed down one night while on a bender. Sister Jude and her dirty dirty little secrets! Wouldn’t it be a twist to learn the girl she killed was a daughter she gave away from one of her earlier transgressions? Damn, that might be enough to drive someone crazy!
Last week’s show had the lovely Adam Levine and Mrs. Channing Tatum getting taken out for good, but not by Bloody Face. It seemed some insane kids dressed up as him were in the hospital and ended up shooting them down. Unfortunately for them, the REAL Bloody Face then showed up to take them out. Oopsie! I’ve been thinking more and more about who this could be. I’m thinking given the time line, Arden can’t be Bloody Face, or at least the current version. I mean he’s pretty ancient in the past, so he’s gotta be dead by now. Sister June is in the same boat I’m afraid. So the question really is, is the current Bloody Face the same one from the past?
American Horror Story: Sister Jude Sucks Em In Hell
So it’s been a few days since the last “American Horror Story” episode, so I’m doing my best to recall what happen and give my thoughts . . .
The second episode introduced us to Dr. Oliver Threadson (Zach Quinto) who was brought in because of a new patient. A young boy was brought in by his parents, and it turned out he was possessed and needed an exorcism. Oliver was shocked by this treatment, as well as the treatment of other patients. For example Lana was given electroshock therapy for her homosexuality (actually in order to shut her up), and he was appalled by this.
The patient turned out to be the real possessed deal, throwing people across the room and revealing dirty little secrets. We learned that Sister Jude used to be a very very naughty woman! Seems she liked to sing and dance in officers’ clubs, and later sing and dance in their beds. Fifty three of them to be exact! It seems Sister Jude has some demons of her own . . .
During the exorcism Lana and Grace tried to make an escape. Lana told Grace that she knew of a tunnel they could use. Grace wanted Kit to come too, but Lana refused. Grace seems to believe he is innocent. Grace brought him with her to the escape anyway, and Lana refused to go through with it and called the guards. June was pleased with her and offered her a reward . . . she would watch Grace and Kit be punished by each receiving 20 lashes on their bare buttocks, and Lana also got to choose the cane. Kit however said it was his idea, he made Grace do it. Therefore June spared Grace and gave Kit 40 lashes! My guess is this will make Lana think differently about Kit from now on . . .
Elsewhere, we learned Dr. Arden has his own creepy fetish. He likes to hire hookers and abuse them. He hired one to dress up as a nun. However she later found a whole bunch of photos in his dresser. They were photos of women being tied up and punished, and some photos which seemed to be of dead and mutilated bodies. Wow what a twisted bunch is running this asylum! The hooker nun managed to bite him and flee his place.
On the outside Lana’s girlfriend Wendy was crying to her friends about Lana. She wanted to recant her signature/statement and get Lana out. Later that night the killer found her in her house and seemingly did away with her. So we definitely know it’s not Kit, but we kinda knew that already. We can probably discount aliens, as this thing was either a mutant or wearing the skin of its victims so we couldn’t see it’s face. If it’s not Arden’s “pets” then I am gunna bet it’s either Arden himself or Kit’s deranged friends from the first episode. We did learn that Kit’s wife was found headless, so he thinks she still may be alive and with the aliens.
The episode ended with the boy getting the exorcism dying, and the demon apparently invading Sister Mary Eunice!
