Out of the Paleyfest this past week news came of the title of next season’s “American Horror Story” . . . Coven! This confirms that witches will be the main theme, and it was also revealed at least part of the show will be set in New Orleans.
Kathy Bates will be a new headliner for the season, playing a very bad woman. Returning will also be Jessica Lange, who is playing something described as a “glamour cat lady,” Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters and Frances Conroy. Frances is said to play a much larger roll this time around. Also returning is Taissa Farmiga (Season 1) who will be one of the leads involved in the love story the season is set around.
American Horror Story Asylum Comes To An End . . .

So this past week we said goodbye to another show that ended its season. “American Horror Story” is over until October, when a new chapter will begin. Some hints have already been dropped. It’s supposed to be a modern day Romeo and Juliet, but with a twist. Jessica Lang, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson are all back in some fashion. Apparently some actors from the first season will also be returning, such as Taissa Farmiga (Violet Season 1) who will be a lead character.
As the season came to its end, pretty much so did the lives of most of the characters we’ve come to enjoy. Though given the nature of the show, that was expected. I still feel like I needed a few more answers here and there.
Lana Banana become a big famous author after writing her book about the asylum and Thredson, a book she called “Maniac.” Apparently much of the book was fiction. She completely whitewashed her relationship with Wendy, she claimed her baby died, and who knows what else she fibbed. Others like Kitt went on with their lives, but weren’t happy with how Lana had become famous and forgotten them all. Kitt lost both Grace and Alma, but eventually remarried. He also went back for Sister Jude/Judy and brought her to live with him and his kids. Judy eventually passed on, and I felt bad that she was never forgiven by the church and in some way exonerated by them. She became their scape goat in so many ways. Who knows, perhaps she didn’t want their forgiveness, and she herself did some pretty terrible things during her reign.
Lana eventually had some attack of guilt and went back to shut down Briarcliff, oh and to get more book deals and TV specials in the process. We learned Monseigneur Timothy eventually killed himself after all the horrible things came out, and his own guilt caught up with him. She reconnected with Kitt and learned all about Jude/Judy, who she originally thought was dead. She did initially go back for her after she got out, but the Monseigneur lied about her saying she was dead and hid her away from all for years.
Kitt’s kids basically grew up to be geniuses. Kitt ended up with cancer, but mysteriously disappeared. We saw what really happened, the aliens came for him. I wish we learned more about the aliens, what they were after, their bigger plan, etc. Clearly they saw something in Kitt’s DNA that they liked. Though wouldn’t that have been smart enough to pick someone without cancer genes? Frankly the aliens were the one thing I didn’t like about this season and feel we could have done without all together.
In the end Lana decided to have one final TV interview where she finally came clean about all the lies over the years. Meanwhile her son, Bloody Face 2.0, made his way into her place posing as part of the crew and biding his time. He had been stalking her for years. However Lana was no idiot. She recognized him immediately thanks to some cops coming to see her earlier about the recent murders that they suspected him of. When they were alone, he finally struck to kill her and make his father proud. However Lana Banana turned the tables on him and shot him in the head! And fade out . . .
I was actually stunned with the end and Lana offing her own kid. However I shouldn’t have been, as the show is just twisted and anything can happen. As much as I didn’t like some aspects, I will miss the show and will count down to the new season. I’m really hoping that Frances Conroy is somehow part of the new season, as I just adore her. I am also hoping for ghosts again.
American Horror Story: Bloody Face Unmasked! Plus AHS Renewed!

First up, a third season of “American Horror Story” has been ordered, and once again Jessica Lange will be back in a new incarnation. Start paying attention for clues people, as last year we were given clues as to the setting of this season in the final episodes.
The last two episodes have dealt with a new patient played by Franke Potente who claimed to be Anne Frank. Not only did she claim to be Anne Frank, who survived the death camps, she claimed Arden was a Nazi general named Hans Grouper. In the end, it seemed like it was all a fantasy in her head. Anne’s husband showed up and claimed she fell victim to this delusion shortly after the birth of their child. Basically she was suffering from postpartum depression. Arden ended up doing a lobotomy on her, and she returned home a stepford wife. However as she was throwing all the research she had been gathering up away, we saw a picture of what definitely appeared to be Arden standing behind Hitler! So maybe she was right about him, even if she wasn’t in the camps.
Sister Jude went to see a Nazi hunter with the information on Arden she had gathered from Anne. Later though, when she realized Anne was all wrong, she called him back to tell him to forget it. Arden told Jude she would be out soon, her latest screw-ups would ensure he took over the assylum. Jude then went all Sister Slutty, got all dolled up, drunk, and picked up some strange man at a bar. Oh my!
Meanwhile Kit and Grace were scheduled to be sterilized after being caught “baking” in the bakery. Kit learned why Grace was in Briarcliff, she killed her father and step-mother who had been sexually molesting her. However the authorities didn’t believe her. Kit was forgiven for his transgression and would not have his boys chopped off, but Grace was to be sterilized. However she later ended up being abducted by the same aliens who took Kit, and on the mother ship saw Kit’s wife Alma. She was returned to the hospital in a state of shock.
Things went from bad to worse for Kit. He began thinking maybe he did kill those women, and talked to Dr. Thredson who taped this and turned it over to the cops. As Kit was being dragged away by the cops for his confessions to these crimes, Grace tried to tell him about Alma. She tried to scream that his wife was still alive!
Meanwhile, as all this is going down, Thredson worked to break Lana out of the asylum and then took her to his place. This is when things went very wrong for Lana. She began to notice weird things in his apartment, furniture made out of odd materials. Skin, bones, skull caps . . . As she tried to run for it, he trapped her in his basement of horrors where Wendy’s dead body was. Thredson then revealed himself to be Bloodyface!
Meanwhile Sister Mary Eunice sucked up to Arden to position herself as his right hand woman. He knew what she did for him, disposing of his latest creation in the woods. He felt he could trust her. However she didn’t put the woman in the woods. She dropped her off outside of a school where she was seen by a class of school kids and their teacher. Oh boy!
My Thoughts . . . .
Half way through the latest episode is when I realized Thredson was Bloodyface. I can’t believe I never considered him before, so bravo for that surprise twist! I really hope poor Lana is able to escape him, but I guess I shouldn’t get my hopes up. I mean, last season pretty much everyone died.
I’m still thinking Arden may be exactly who “Anne” claimed him to be. It looks like the Nazi hunter that Sister Jude hired will be showing up to investigate him. I bet he’ll end up being disposed of by his creations in the woods at some point.
Sister Mary Eunice is still possessed, so it will be interesting to see what happens with her and how it plays out.
As for Kit, Alma and the aliens. I’m not sure where they are going with this one. I still think this story could have been done without the aliens part. Maybe there will be a twist with them too, and they aren’t really aliens.
I didn’t post about last week’s “American Horror Story,” so I thought I’d make just a quick post before tonight’s episode.
Last week’s episode had a Nor’easter hitting the hospital, which meant Kit, Lana and Grace were going to make an escape attempt. Wait what? Such deja vous! I had thought after last week Lana would have realized Kit was innocent, but nope she hadn’t! However once they escaped, they ran right back inside after they encountered Arden’s monsters. That’s when Thredson told Lana that he checked up on her “friend” as she begged him to, and he’s afraid something may have happened to her and that perhaps the killer hadn’t really been caught . . . . Dum dum dum dum!
I have to say I am loving possessed Mary Eunice, but wonder how long she can go on without being found out. When she tried to seduce Arden I was seriouslly laughing my ass off. I also loved when she was disturbed from the movie at the point where the Christians were just about to be eaten and how upset she was.
Sister Jude is now being haunted by the demons of her past, namely the little girl she mowed down one night while on a bender. Sister Jude and her dirty dirty little secrets! Wouldn’t it be a twist to learn the girl she killed was a daughter she gave away from one of her earlier transgressions? Damn, that might be enough to drive someone crazy!
Last week’s show had the lovely Adam Levine and Mrs. Channing Tatum getting taken out for good, but not by Bloody Face. It seemed some insane kids dressed up as him were in the hospital and ended up shooting them down. Unfortunately for them, the REAL Bloody Face then showed up to take them out. Oopsie! I’ve been thinking more and more about who this could be. I’m thinking given the time line, Arden can’t be Bloody Face, or at least the current version. I mean he’s pretty ancient in the past, so he’s gotta be dead by now. Sister June is in the same boat I’m afraid. So the question really is, is the current Bloody Face the same one from the past?
American Horror Story: Sister Jude Sucks Em In Hell
Posted by Dustin on 10.27.2012 at 4:37 pm
So it’s been a few days since the last “American Horror Story” episode, so I’m doing my best to recall what happen and give my thoughts . . .
The second episode introduced us to Dr. Oliver Threadson (Zach Quinto) who was brought in because of a new patient. A young boy was brought in by his parents, and it turned out he was possessed and needed an exorcism. Oliver was shocked by this treatment, as well as the treatment of other patients. For example Lana was given electroshock therapy for her homosexuality (actually in order to shut her up), and he was appalled by this.
The patient turned out to be the real possessed deal, throwing people across the room and revealing dirty little secrets. We learned that Sister Jude used to be a very very naughty woman! Seems she liked to sing and dance in officers’ clubs, and later sing and dance in their beds. Fifty three of them to be exact! It seems Sister Jude has some demons of her own . . .
During the exorcism Lana and Grace tried to make an escape. Lana told Grace that she knew of a tunnel they could use. Grace wanted Kit to come too, but Lana refused. Grace seems to believe he is innocent. Grace brought him with her to the escape anyway, and Lana refused to go through with it and called the guards. June was pleased with her and offered her a reward . . . she would watch Grace and Kit be punished by each receiving 20 lashes on their bare buttocks, and Lana also got to choose the cane. Kit however said it was his idea, he made Grace do it. Therefore June spared Grace and gave Kit 40 lashes! My guess is this will make Lana think differently about Kit from now on . . .
Elsewhere, we learned Dr. Arden has his own creepy fetish. He likes to hire hookers and abuse them. He hired one to dress up as a nun. However she later found a whole bunch of photos in his dresser. They were photos of women being tied up and punished, and some photos which seemed to be of dead and mutilated bodies. Wow what a twisted bunch is running this asylum! The hooker nun managed to bite him and flee his place.
On the outside Lana’s girlfriend Wendy was crying to her friends about Lana. She wanted to recant her signature/statement and get Lana out. Later that night the killer found her in her house and seemingly did away with her. So we definitely know it’s not Kit, but we kinda knew that already. We can probably discount aliens, as this thing was either a mutant or wearing the skin of its victims so we couldn’t see it’s face. If it’s not Arden’s “pets” then I am gunna bet it’s either Arden himself or Kit’s deranged friends from the first episode. We did learn that Kit’s wife was found headless, so he thinks she still may be alive and with the aliens.
The episode ended with the boy getting the exorcism dying, and the demon apparently invading Sister Mary Eunice!
So last night was the big debut of “American Horror Story: Asylum.” Unfortunately many people found out the hard way that the tagline of Asylum meant your old DVR settings wouldn’t record the show. Reset your DVRs! I’m sure the premier will be played to death over this week. Otherwise here is a quick recap before my thoughts . . .
The show began with Theresa and Leo (Adam Levine) as a horny honeymooning couple that gets turned on by visiting the most haunted places in America and doing it there. This is what brought them to Briarcliff Asylum outside of Boston. The asylum’s most notorious inmate was the serial killer “Bloody Face,” who killed and skinned three women in the 60s. As they are getting kinky in the ruined and abandoned asylum, something or someone grabs Leo from behind a prison door, through a window, and rips his arm off. As Theresa attempts to find help, something stalks her! Well that sucks, there goes the shows “sexy!”
Back in the 60s, we meet the staff of the hospital when it was running. The catholic church runs the place, and the head is Monsignor Timothy Howard (Joseph Fiennes) along with Sister Jude (Jessica Lange). Jude seems to be a prude, as she wears sexy red lingerie under her robes and lusts after Howard. Sister Mary Eunice (Lily Rabe) assists Jude in running the place. Jude believes she runs the hospital, but Dr. Arthur Arden (James Cromwell) thinks he’s the real pioneer. Where Jude puts her faith in God curing these inmates, Arden is a man of science. He seems to be on a quest to understand insanity, and his experiments on the patients are anything but ethical. He keeps what he’s doing a secret, and appears to have Howard’s blessings. Jude however is vowing to find out what he’s up to. Four of his patients have died, each four fortunately have no family to ask questions, and Arden claimed the bodies had been cremated. However there is something living out in the woods outside of the asylum which Arden sends Mary Eunice to feed . . . .
Meanwhile Kit Walker (Evan Peters, Tate from last season) is a garage mechanic and secretly married to a black woman. He wants to reveal his marriage to their families, she does not yet as the times aren’t ready. For now it appears she’s posing as his maid. One night something comes out of the sky and apparently abducts them both. It would seem his wife was later found dead, skinned alive. This matches two other murders in the region, and so he’s arrested as the killer known as “Bloody Face.” This killer wears the skin of his victims like a mask, so rumor has it. He is taken to Briarcliff until the courts decide his fate, and Arden takes a keen interest in him and his brain. Kit claims “little green men” took him and his wife, but nobody believes him.
Enter Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson, the psychic from last season) and her partner Wendy (Clea DuVall). Wendy is a third grade science teacher, Lana a reporter for the local paper. They are lesbians, but because of the times posing as “roommates.” Lana heads to the asylum under the guise of doing a story on the bread they bake and sell for charity, but what she wants is the story on Bloodyface. Jude throws her out, but she finds a way to sneak back in later. At this point Arden has Kit on his table and finds some bizarre chip implanted in his neck. The chip then sprouts legs like a spider and crawls off! Lana is sneaking around and is knocked out by something or someone, and is later found by Jude. Jude knows her dirty little secret she’s been hiding in the closet, and has decided to cure her. She blackmailed Wendy into signing papers to commit her, saying if the truth about them came out then her career would be over. The show basically ended with Lana being locked up with the rest of the inmates, but not before befriending another one Grace, who seems to be the only sane person there aside from Kit.
The premier was definitely not what I was expecting. We knew things would be different. We were told about the asylum long ago, and that there would not be ghosts this season. However I never expected aliens! I have to say I hate alien abduction stories. Of all genres of horror, they are the ones I hate the most because they are the most possible to actually happen as far as I’m concerned.
I don’t know if I like the idea of aliens on the show to be honest. I feel like a story about a serial killer, possible medical mutants, and an asylum is enough. The alien aspect made me immediately feel like they jumped the shark, and it’s only episode one of season two! Of course we don’t know the whole story yet. Was it really aliens? Could it be something else? The chip spider definitely will be hard to explain, unless the doctor is crazy too.
Is Kit Walker the killer? It seems right now there could be two other explanations. One, alien abductions are going on and they are the real killers. Another possible explanation is the medical mutants that Arden is making are the killers, and Kit just assumed they were aliens. But again, what was the deal with the chip?
Of course in the present, a killer still stalks the prison. Who is that? Is it simply an inmate still there, or one of the medical mutants?
In awesome news, Ryan Murphy tweeted yesterday for the premier “So thrilled to announce Dylan McDermott is returning to American Horror Story!” They’re bringing sexy back!
While tons of teasers have been posted for “American Horror Story: Asylum” on Facebook, the show has finally put out two real promos for the upcoming season, which begins on October 17th.

Michael Raymond-James, probably best known to many as Renee from the first season of “True Blood,” has landed a recurring role on “Once Upon A Time.” At this time it’s not known who he will actually be playing. Also Collin O’Donoghue has been cast as Captain Hook on the show. Source: TVGuide.com
Word has already gotten out that Eric Dane aka McSteamy is leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” in the upcoming season after only a few shows. Now leaked photos twittered by Patrick Dempsey suggest how that may happen! The photos showed Eric’s character Mark Sloan in a bed and on life support. Another photo showed Callie sitting by his bed side. Dempsy was later asked to remove the pictures, but by then they had made it to several sites.
Ryan Murphy revealed one of the first images from “American Horror Story” season two on his twitter. The image shows Adam Levine in what appears to be tunnels below the asylum shining a light on a painting of “Bloody Face.” It looks like this is the new big bad of the season. Also the new season will be titled “American Horror Story: Asylum.” The season is supposed to be focused on real life horror and insanity, and less on supernatural elements.
According to Deadline.com Jessica Parker Kennedy (formerly of “The Secret Circle”) will join “90210″ this upcoming season in the recurring role of Megan, a young girl involved in a therapy group with one of the main characters. Also Zap2It is reporting that Lindsey McKeon will be a mentor character to Silver this season over her medical issues with breast cancer and the Braca gene. McKean is probably best known for roles on “Supernatural” and “One Tree Hill.”
Casting news for several shows. This may be spoilerish!
“Body of Proof” has already lost three players, reported in an earlier post. Now comes news from Deadline that the show is looking to add Mark Valley in the role of a detective who will work with Meagan Hunt, and also be a possible love interest. Oh no, that means another write out . . . Aiden!
Sarah Jessica Parker will be working at Vogue on the new season of “Glee.” Kate Hudson, who is already filming, plays Rachel’s dance teacher at NYADA. Ryan Murphy has already Tweeted the first photo of them on set. “Glee” began filming this week.

Julian Morris, known to many as Melissa’s ex Ian on “Pretty Little Liars,” has been cast as Prince Phillip on “Once Upon A Time.” He will play Sleeping Beauty’s (Sarah Bolger) version of Charming. Also Sinqua Walls of “Teen Wolf” joins as Sir Lancelot according to TVline.
Eric Dane (McSteamy) is set to leave “Grey’s Anatomy” in the upcoming season. He’ll appear in a few episodes to wrap up his story. How he will leave when he has a baby with Callie is not known. However others are also leaving, and more to come. Kim Raver who plays Teddy really did leave the show, her last episode was when Owen forced her out in the season finale. Shonda Rhimes told the Hollywood Reporter that others could also leave in the next season. Some suspect Arizona may also die as a result of the crash. Oh, when season 9 picks up, we will have jumped forward in time!
Over to “American Horror Story,” the largest cast ever keeps expanding. Franke Potente joins for two episodes as a patient of the asylum. In America she’s probably best known from the “Borne” films, but internationally she’s “Run Lola Run!” Also EW is reporting that Jenna Dewan is joining the show as Adam Levine’s character’s wife.

Guest_3845 : Agreed! First finale this season that I can't wait to see what happens!!
Dustin : Wow, glad Nashville is coming back after that finale!
Dustin : I just realized I forgot to watch the Bates Finale! Ahhhh! I have like 4 shows I need to catch up on in the matter of a few days lol
Guest_4184 : I really like Scandal. As with any Shonda show, it has ups and downs but overall I enjoyed it. Not sure where the are going to go with the next season though?
Dustin : I'm gunna finally watch season 1 and 2 of scandal over the summer, but I'm afraid to get drawn into another Shonda project lol
Guest_4700 : I agree with Grey's. Saw that ending coming about 1/2way through. This seems to be the season for lackluster finales. But SO GLAD to see Rookie Blue starts next week!!!
Guest_3912 : This is gonna sound bad, but I really wasn't shocked by the way they ended it...I hope they really didn't just kill him off
Dustin : Well that grey's finale sucked! Jeeze!
Dustin : I will be getting my OUAT thoughts up soon, want to rewatch it again. I am grading all week, so I'm doing a lot of multitasking. Also the new schedules for Fall are coming out, will post them soon. I think I'm gunna start moving more toward cable shows. I already know the shows I wanna see on Networks won't last lol
Dustin : Yeah I thought that at first too, but then I think he was talking about the shadow figure?
Guest_3215 : They said Peter Pan at the end of the finale. The blonde "lost one" mentioned it but he made it seem like he was Pan?
Dustin : Will get them up tomorrow. Thinking Neil went to Wonderland, good way to introduce that spinoff. interesting way they went around the Peter Pan copyright. I don't think they said his name? Hate this organization of Tamara and Greg's, too much like Lost. Doubt that was greg's dad he dug up, a regina trick.
Guest_4957 : Dang it OUAT! Curious to hear your thoughts about tonight's show!
Dustin : No I don't think so either.
DNA : I think Smash won't be back
Dustin : NBC renews Parenthood! So happy!
Dustin : I had noticed he had lost a lot of weight recently. I thought it was him just getting into shape. Now I guess not.
Dustin : Yeah Very sad.
Guest_1711 : Did you see that Cory Monteith (Finn) entered rehab again? They will be finishing the season without him.
Dustin : Yeah it's likely not going to get another season. The ratings have been pretty bad. I'm sad because just now the show has finally gotten good again!
Guest_3085 : Apparently NBC wants to kill Smash. What else explains the move to Saturdays???
Dustin : i have 90 emails in a folder, most are true blood news i just need to compile into one big post lol
Dustin : Woo hoo I'll have to go look. I know they just revealed the date the other day
DNA : True Blood Season 6 promo is out!
Dustin : Yeah I got to write up the second show still. Behind. Just watched Dallas last night, still have to see if I can watch Revolution again lol
Sean : I was just about to ask you to start reviewing Bates. It is so good and creepy. After watching the second show I see a lot of Twin Peaks in it.
Dustin : yeah i just saw that today. 3 weeks of behind the scenes episodes. Lordy!
Guest_1603 : Actually OUAT is in 4 weeks. In 3 weeks is a behind the scenes episode.
Dustin : 3 weeeks till the next OUAT! Ahhhhhh!
Dustin : Will try and get some posts out tonight and tomorrow Glee, Smash and Grey's
Dustin : Yeah I'm sadly growing bored with smash. You can see Ivy will go back, and this new musical of Karen's is boring
Guest_3355 : On one hand I hate what Derrick is doing but on the other hand, I don't see Karen's relationship with the broody, temper tantrum, man whore going well so I'm all for it. When will this story line be over???
Dustin : Really enjoyed Bates! Will do a write up today
Dustin : Gunna watch Bates soon.
CGinCA : Yeah. I so agree Monday nights are overloaded. Thankfully a lot of the shows I like are not on main network only show once mentality. So can grab themat later times. LOl
