Brothers and Sisters: Drama At The Dinner Table!

Brothers and Sisters: Drama At The Dinner Table!

Posted by Dustin on 01.21.2008 at 6:32 pm

Finally we got a new episode of “Brothers and Sisters” and it looks like in early February we’ll be getting another, which could be the last of the season.

In this episode Nora decided to invite Isaac over for dinner, but was too afraid of a date and used the premise of a family dinner to spend time with him. I loved when Sarah figured this out she was teasing her mom.

Meanwhile, Steven Weber’s character continued to pursue Sarah in this episode. She seemed turned off that he may have cheated in the past, depending on how you defined cheat. Sarah claims she never cheated in 10 years of marriage. Wait just a minute there, at the beginning of the show Sarah seemed to be meeting with a man and was very close to an affair! Steven’s character felt she was holding back, and he’d find out what about. Honestly, I am not sure I like these two together, it’s not working for me. Maybe they can change my mind.

Jason emailed Kevin, he’s coming back to town and wants to have lunch. Oh uh! Kevin accepted, but dreaded telling Scotty. I am thrilled Jason (Eric Winter) is returning, but I’m not liking this story at all and am feeling for poor Scotty, who it seems clearly is just Kevin’s substitute for Jason because he didn’t want to be alone. Jason is his Mr. Right, Scotty became his Mr. Right Now/There.

At Nora’s dinner, of course, everything blows up. Robert’s “withholding” of the fact he wasn’t sure he wanted kids came out, and Kitty wasn’t thrilled. I loved his politician response that he wasn’t saying no, but he didn’t no if the time wasn’t right and he wasn’t taking it off the table completely. I’m sorry, I could have sworn you told your aid you didn’t want any more kids and told your own bratty daughter you wouldn’t have new kids with Kitty. Do I have to call you senator flip flop from now on? He’s on my bad side right now.

Justin admitted he was still dating Lena, and Tommy admitted Lena was a mistake. Oops, as expected Julia walked in and heard this. I knew the tension between Tommy and Justin over Lena would result in Julia finding out. The real shocker came when Julia revealed while home with her parents, she too had an affair. Julia and Tommy decided to work on their relationship and move past it. I hope they get some marriage counseling though! I hate what Tommy (and Julia) did, but at the same time I hate that Julia also ran home to mommy and daddy when things got tough.

Eventually Nora kicked all her kids out when everything hit the fan. Isaac stayed behind and then told her that next time he was in town, they should have dinner, just the two of them without the family. So cute!

Throughout the show, Robert’s campaign continued to come under fire from McAdams, who was also running for the republican nomination. Kitty found out that Isaac and Robert were sitting on a land mine, the fact that McAdams had a special needs son he hid away and they had an atrocious voting record on special needs legislation. Kitty wanted to use it, as did Isaac who had a special needs son of his own and was ashamed of McAdams, but Robert wouldn’t play dirty politics. Only a TV politician would say that! If only real life could be more like TV! In the end though, somehow McAdams was exposed and he dropped out. Kitty swore it wasn’t them . . . hmmmm . . . . . I have a feeling Issac leaked the story behind Robert’s back . . . especially after he revealed one of his son’s was special needs too. I think it hit too close to home for him. Robert of course is now the front runner for the republican nomination.

Finally we come to Rebbecca, Holly and the mysterious David (Ken Olin). Rebbecca invited David for dinner, apparently trying to rekindle the flame between him and her mom. Holly let her no it wouldn’t happen, but wouldn’t give details. We did get one huge question answered, Holly assured Rebbecca that David wasn’t her father, William was. Whew! I was expecting a blow up there. But then why is Holly not willing to get close to David and why doesn’t she believe he just moved back to town and looked her up? Something is going on there. Either a drug problem or a prostitution scam comes to mind.

Brothers and Sisters: They Do

Brothers and Sisters: They Do

Posted by Dustin on 12.03.2007 at 2:46 pm

So it was the big “Brothers and Sisters” wedding this week. With impending campaign disasters and secrets looming, Kitty and Robert were able to say “I do.”

Kevin found he was given the cold shoulder by the McCalisters after dumping Jason. He ranted and raved about them the whole night, which didn’t go over well with his date Scotty. When Kevin admitted he’d like to kill Robert, he was locked up by secret service! He had company as Nora’s date Stan was locked up for smoking a bowl.

Justin invited Lena to the wedding, which annoyed Tommy. It annoyed Rebbecca too, as she figured out Tommy was the married man she was seeing, and she probably was with Justin out of spite. Well duh! She told Justin the truth, he then confronted Tommy. They fought, and found themselves locked up as well! As of yet, Tommy’s wife Julia still doesn’t know about the affair. I was sure that she’d hear or see them fighting and learn the truth. Oh well. It’s coming sooner or later.

Half the wedding was locked up, until Robert finally came and sprang them.

Nora met Isaac at the wedding. Stan was locked up and so she got to know Isaac, who came to alert Kitty of the impending campaign blow up. It seems the story Kitty and Kevin tried to squash about Robert’s heroic rescue of some men was in fact coming back to haunt him. When Stan was finally released, Nora couldn’t believe he was smoking a bowl at her daughter’s wedding. He realized they weren’t a good match after all and dumped her! No matter, Nora had Isaac keeping her company, and there was somthing going on between them.

Kevin and Scotty returned home, where Kevin apologized for being bad date. Scotty told Kevin it was clear he wasn’t over Jason yet. So it looks like Kevin’s been dumped by Scotty yet again! We do know that Eric Winter (Jason) will return in the future, so things will get tricky. On one hand I feel for Kev, long distance relationships are no fun and who can blame him? He doesn’t know how long he’s supposed to be waiting. On the other hand, he did agree to wait.

At the wedding Saul wanted to see if he and Holly could get back together. She said she knew men, and she knew when men weren’t interested, he wasn’t. She basically told him they can’t help who they love, as if telling Saul “come out of that closet!” Later Holly got a surprise from some old Hollywood acquaintance named David (her real life husband Ken Olin). He claimed to be in town and heard about her owning an orchard, he wanted to see if it was really her. She wanted to know why he really looked her up after all this time. Hmmmm, a mystery? The way he picked up the photo of Rebbecca and looked at it, is there going to be a paternity scandal coming up? I remember last season they wanted to do a DNA test on Rebbecca to find out if it was true, but can’t recall if they actually did one or not.

Robert and Kitty went off on their honeymoon as Isaac and Nora talked and debated about democrats and republicans into the wee hours of the morning. Isaac got the word that the story about Robert was about to break. Nora said nothing could be done tonight, let them enjoy their honeymoon. And now we are left hanging so it seems.

Brothers and Sisters

This week’s episode of “Brothers and Sisters” seemed to focus on love, past loves, current loves and new loves.

Nora reconnected with her first love Stan, played by Chevy Chase. She invited him to the wedding next week. So cute! However I still like her and the carpenter (Treat Williams) best.

Sarah met a new guy named Graham through work. He was brought in by Saul to possibly help them diversify and make more money through new options. He’s trying to convince her to get involved in shipping overseas, but she’s not completely sold. It looks like they are headed for a love pairing too. I have to say so far I’m not liking these two together.

Kevin, Jason and Scotty. Oh lord! Kevin learned Robert had been talking to Jason, who hadn’t been talking to Kevin. Kevin and Scotty, after some champagne, did the naughty boogie. Of course this is when Jason called. Kevin then apparently dumped Jason and now wants to give things a try with Scotty again? Well this stinks. I have nothing against Scotty, but would liked to have seen Eric Winter (ex Rex) return as Jason and possibly stay.

Julia finally came home with Elizabeth this week. Previously Tommy ended things with Lena. Ugh, the countdown is on until Julia learns Tommy cheated on her. I’m sure she’ll leave him for good after that. I hate that they’ve done this to Tommy’s character, but at the same time I have no pity for Julia running off to mommy and daddy instead of staying and facing her issues with Tommy.

Lena, spurned by Tommy, is now after Justin so it seems. Sure there were sparks between them in the bar a few weeks ago, but something tells me this is more to spite Tommy. Sorry Lena, you get no pity from me either dating a married man! Poor Justin is going to be the one hurt in the end too I bet, and just when he got clean. This is why he’s not supposed to be dating.

Rebbecca just decided to love and be herself this week. After being far to complacent with her siblings, she let it out and said what she had to say. This included the truth about how she felt about the bridesmaid dresses and that Kitty should buy her own dress that she wanted rather than wear her mom’s old one.

Finally Kitty had a lot of issues with her dress. She found one she wanted, but didn’t want to hurt Nora who gave her her own dress to wear. She bought it though. She also had issues with Robert, who didn’t seem very interested in the wedding or helping her learn to dance. As she put it, this is a first for her, not for him, she just wanted some special memories for the both of them. Robert later surprised her with a dance, serenaded by Lyle Lovett. Okay that was just the sappiest ending ever for me!

Next week is the big wedding event, and what looks to possibly be the last new episode until the strike ends.

Brothers And Sisters: Interventions

Brothers And Sisters: Interventions

Posted by Dustin on 11.12.2007 at 9:07 pm

So I didn’t blog about B&S last week, mainly because I came away from the whole episode angry. Kitty lost her baby, and while her whole family was there for her, Robert was secretly relieved. Meanwhile Sarah’s daughter is clearly having a hard time with her parents divorce, ran off, and Joe blamed Sarah for not watching her close enough! Uhg. Kevin meanwhile invited his homeless ex-Scotty to come live with him, and hasn’t told Reverend Boyfriend. This probably won’t end well! Justin continued to take drugs, and became interested in Lena. However Lena is too into Tommy and gave him the brush off.

In the most current episode, Tommy’s affair with the new assistant Lena continued. *Sigh* Why are they doing this? Julia is going to end up coming home to surprise Tommy and catch him bopping Lena in their bed I bet. Saul learned about the affair and let it leak to Kevin and others, who gave him a hard time. I really like Tommy, but hate what they’re doing to his character at this point.

Robert continued to deal with not wanting anymore kids, which was helped along by his bratty daughter telling her daddy she and her brother really didn’t want him to have kids with Kitty. OMG! I just sat there thinking what a little $@@#$%@#%.

Saul FINALLY came out to his sister, shocking the hell out of her, but still hasn’t officially come out to Kevin or anyone else. Their talk was interrupted and he didn’t seem to want to continue it anymore actually. I hope he tells Kevin soon and doesn’t drag it out.

Finally the whole family staged an intervention for Justin, who they learned from Rebbecca was back on drugs. Justin spit out some nasty things to half his family, but they wouldn’t give up on him and kept him under house arrest to try and get him clean on their own.

My heart is just breaking for Kitty at this point. She clearly wants a family with Robert, to even start trying again. Robert however doesn’t seem to have the guts to be honest with her. Oh and what was with him basically firing his entire campaign staff? Robert seems to be falling apart.
