One, Possibly Two Housewives Gone? *update*

One, Possibly Two Housewives Gone? *update*

Posted by Dustin on 03.04.2010 at 10:48 pm

Over the last day Ausiello/EW have broken stories that one housewife is moving off Wisteria Lane by the end of the season, and another might be as well!

Drea de Matteo (Angie) is set to make a secret yet “explosive” exit in May. Marc Cherry reveals that the character was only to last one season.

Dana Delaney meanwhile has been tapped by ABC to head up a new pilot on the network. Should it be picked up she could possibly be leaving as well.

*Update* The Hollywood Reporter is also reporting that Julie Benz (Robin) has joined another ABC pilot, so it looks like Katherine’s lover may be off Wisteria Lane as well.

WOW! That’s a lot of cast members gone by the end of this season!

Housewives and Brothers & Sisters: The Gay Life and Break Ups

Housewives and Brothers & Sisters: The Gay Life and Break Ups

Posted by Dustin on 03.01.2010 at 8:46 pm

Here are my thoughts on this Sunday’s ABC dramas. Overall a really good night for both shows!

On “Desperate Housewives” we got to have the fun party girl Gabby back, if only for an episode, as she had to stay away from her kids who had the chicken pox because never had them. She stayed with Bob and Lee and as she put it, forgot how fabulous “the gay single life” is. They all had some of the best laugh out lines of the episode. However in the end, Gabby had to go home to her kids as they needed her, and we/she learned Bob and Lee’s fabulous gay life would be coming to an end soon as they were trying to adopt. It was a touching Gabby longed for what they had, while they longed for what Gabby had kind of moment. I hope they actually will make Lee and Bob more than just side characters at some point. They were great fun with Gabby in this episode.

Nick and Angie learned Danny ran off to New York to be with Anna, and of course feared that Angie’s ex Patrick might find him.

Lynette and Tom totally forgot Penny’s birthday and spend the episode trying to make it up to her. It was very “Sixteen Candles” in a way, and I felt so bad for Penny. However it was great to see her actually get an episode and story of her own. Half the time it’s like she doesn’t even exist.

Karen and Roy got engaged, with a big push from Nosy Neighbor Susan. It wasn’t what Roy wanted though, until Karen learned she might have lung cancer. Susan thought the wedding would be off, but Roy took charge and says it would be happening. This story was so sad! The actress in real life has been battling the disease, so to put it in the show has to be tough!

Katherine found herself lusting after Robin, and eventually told her as much and that it might be a good idea if she moved out given her feelings for her. The dreams Katherine were having were hilarious!

The best story however was probably Bree and her new assistant Sam. Andrew had been slacking off, even hiring a dunce who he was having an affair with! Sam swept in and convinced Bree to hire him, he’s her #1 fan after all. By the end of the episode it looked like Andrew might be out of the company, and Sam was drinking out of Andrew’s “World’s Greatest Son” cup. Oh yeah, he’s gunna be trouble for sure. I bet he’ll even find a way to move into BRee’s house and Andrew’s old room somehow.

On “Brothers & Sisters,” Rebecca seemed to be distancing herself from Justin and everyone else in the wake of the loss of the baby. I can see Rebecca disappearing for awhile at this point and not telling Justin.

Luc was set to be deported, so he came up with a plan to marry his business partner. It of course took Sarah the whole episode to realize she loved Luc and didn’t want him to marry her, but they weren’t ready to be married yet either. Oh boy! He has four weeks left before he’s deported! My guess is somehow this will time with the end of season.

Robert and Kevin broke up, as Kevin decided it was time to pursue his own dreams. Robert had a new mysterious job he wanted to bring Kevin along to, but he wouldn’t tell Kevin what the job was yet. I felt it was a big tease to not only Kevin, but to us because Rob Lowe isn’t going to be sticking around. Maybe it’s a way to write him out without killing him off?

Kitty and Buffy broke up too, but it wasn’t as easy for them as Buffy didn’t want to go, no matter how many times Kitty fired her! In the end she finally did.

The big story was Saul and Holly trying to uncover what this Dennis York guy wanted Ojai for. They found a clue, something called New Lake. But Nora only knew of it as a jingle William used to sing. It however seems to be a real place and somewhere on Ojai’s many properties. A geological survey was done, so it sounds like either gold or oil. However Nora still acts very weird, I think something more is going on with Dennis, she knows something and isn’t talking at all. I can’t help but feel she had an affair with him, but that might be too easy.

Housewives & The Walkers: Sex On The Mind

Housewives & The Walkers: Sex On The Mind

Posted by Dustin on 02.22.2010 at 8:50 pm

Here are my quick thoughts on last night’s dramas “Desperate Housewives” and “Brothers and Sisters.”

First up on “Housewives,” I am absolutely loving Julie Benz as Robin (the stripper). She’s been amazing on the show. Yeah some might consider her an Eddie replacement on the outside, but the gist of this show was to show that inside she was nothing like Eddie and the girls on the block realized not to judge her on her past in this episode. FYI, Julie Benz was only to be a guest role, she’s been upped to recurring, with a possibility of being added onto the shows cast.

I thought Susan’s story with Robin was somewhat painful, and not just because Mike was in pain. Once again we had to watch Susan act like an arse and put her foot in her mouth, treating Robin like a slutty stripper because she was helping Mike out with his constant back pain. This time though I can’t fault Susan too much, I mean seeing a younger attractive woman with her hands (and feet) constantly all over her husband, yeah, she might have some issues. I think though they should have talked about it, especially given what we later found out about Robin! There really was no reason for her to move out, other than to advance another story of course.

The other story of course was Robin moving in with Katherine (to try and save her friendship with Susan) and then putting the moves on Katherine! Yup, Robin is lesbionic, or at least bi. Katherine was asserting how she was over dating men, when Robin suggested she try pursuing other avenues which is what she did. They shared a quick kiss, which was more about rebuffing some pigs at a bar than anything, but later Katherine started to think about Robin. I actually found myself really liking their story above all others this episode. This story might actually work and not just be some ratings stunt.

Gabby, in an attempt to keep Anna away from Danny, offered to send her off to New York to be a model. Anna however really likes Danny. Yeah it’s not hard to see where this is leading, and given the spoilers for 2 weeks from now we know for sure.

I can’t believe the show did it, but they did, they made me actually feel for Orson in this episode. Bree, using Robin’s advice, tried to get Orson excited with a strip tease that failed miserably. However in the end, she and Orson made strides repairing their marriage. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, I expect Orson to *bleep* it up when he gets his legs back and hides it from Bree.

Onto “Brothers and Sisters.” I am not enjoying the Kitty storyline at all. Frankly I think the announcement of Rob Lowe leaving is what has turned me off. I’ve always had my ups and downs with Robert, but knowing he’s going makes this story not very enjoyable. Though they did bring back Park Dad this week, perhaps they will get a second chance? I dunno though, he might feel like he was the consolation prize really.

I absolutely loved the storyline involving Sarah and Roy, along with Luc’s return this week. Sarah trying to convince Paige that sometimes the stable boy is the better choice over the one who makes your heart flutter and stomach turn. We all knew she was trying to convince herself to make it work with Roy, and in the end he dumped her because it wasn’t working! She was however very romantically reunited with Luc, via Roy’s gift of a painting they saw and she loved. Little did she know Luc painted it. I did however wonder, hello, was the painting not signed? Was their no artist credit hanging in the gallery? I guess that would have taken the romance out :)

Rebecca lost the baby, not the way to celebrate Valentine’s day, which was the focus of this episode. I think from the spoilers we all knew it wasn’t going to happen. I think some of us probably expected it not to happen even before the spoilers given the tension between her and Justin. Oh and did they ever do anything with the story that he might have a learning disability? It seems they’ve just ignore him and his schooling for weeks now!

Holly once again made me actually like her in this episode. Not only did she not apparently sleep with Dennis, she came clean with David about it. She also canceled her sale of her shares of Ojai to Dennis. Yeah you know he’s gunna be pissed. I love when Nora went off on Holly at the end of the episode and then Holly admitted she didn’t go through with the sale because Nora had earlier told her that they were now family and that meant everything to her. Nora said it best . . . “Holly you are exhausting!”

Of course we were left with Holly telling Nora who was after her shares, and Nora looking stunned by Dennis York’s name. Ahhhhh! I want to know the secret! Who is he and why does he have it out for William so? Is this a love triangle from the past involving Nora? Are one of the Walker’s not William’s kids? Tune in next week I guess.

Various Casting Bits . . .

Various Casting Bits . . .

Posted by Dustin on 02.13.2010 at 2:41 pm

I’ve tweeted (or retweeted) these over the past few days, but wanted to include them in a post before they disappear from the side bar . . .

Kathy Najimy (Sister Act) will be the one to un-brace Betty later this season on March 24th! (Via EW.com )

In other “Betty News,” it looks like indeed it is Hilda that is getting married at the end of the season/series.

Supermodels of the world Heidi Klum and Paulina Porizkova are set to appear on “Desperate Housewives” in March, presumably as themselves as it’s part of a story with Gabby (once a model herself). (Via E! Online )

Side note with some “Runway” news. Because of the way it worked out schedule wise this season, the show is sending 10 designers to Bryant Park to showcase their works. The news broke awhile ago, Tim Gunn ended up confirming it on a video blog. However only 3 will be the finalists shown on TV and only one can win. Still, as many have complained, it takes the specialness out of the show as this is what they are all competing for, to make it to Bryant Park/Fashion Week.

SNL funny lady Molly Shannan is set to appear on “Glee!” as a new astronomy teacher Brenda Castle, who is Sue’s archnemesis! ( Via E! Online ) )

Dana Delany Guests On Castle

Dana Delany Guests On Castle

Posted by Dustin on 02.04.2010 at 12:32 pm

DANA DELANY TO GUEST STAR IN A “CASTLE” TWO-PARTER, SUNDAY AND MONDAY, MARCH 21 AND 22 ON ABC

Reunites with Nathan Fillion from Time on “Desperate Housewives”

Actress Dana Delany (“Desperate Housewives”) will guest star in two episodes of “Castle” airing Sunday, March 21 and Monday, March 22 (both nights 10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. This will reunite Delany and Nathan Fillion, who played Dr. Adam Mayfair, the younger husband of Katherine Mayfair (Delany) on “Desperate Housewives.”

In the special two-part storyline, Delany will play Federal Agent Jordan Shaw — an insightful and accomplished Federal Investigator who teams with Richard Castle and Detective Beckett to hunt down a cunning and elusive serial killer.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and versatile actress as Dana, and we’re grateful to Marc Cherry and our partners at ABC for helping to make this happen,” said “Castle” Creator/Executive Producer Andrew Marlowe. “She and Nathan were so great together on ‘Desperate Housewives,’ we’re all excited to see them together again.”

Lesbian Housewives: Wait Didn’t We Do This?

Lesbian Housewives: Wait Didn’t We Do This?

Posted by Dustin on 02.03.2010 at 7:40 pm

TV Guide is reporting that Robin (the stripper character) will have a same-sex kiss with Katherine!

Currently Robin (Julie Benz) is on recurring basis, but it sounds like Marc Cherry would like to bring her in permanently, possibly as a love interest for Katherine?

I don’t know what to think. I feel we’ve been here before. Oh we were with Gabby and Susan last year. This time it’s looking like it’s less for stunt and ratings and more for story.

Is Katherine about to come out of the closet late in life? It could work in her favor given her horrible relationships with men in the past.

Sunday Night Shows: Strippers and Reunions

Sunday Night Shows: Strippers and Reunions

Posted by Dustin on 02.01.2010 at 8:26 pm

As usual, some quick thoughts on “Housewives” and “Brothers and Sisters.” Maybe one day I’ll be able to actually do recaps again! Till then, if you missed it, hopefully you’ll get some kind of recap out of these.

“Desperate Housewives”
Tom and Lynette continued counseling with “Daphne” from Frasier. As good as last week (or two weeks ago) was with Lynette admitting she could be a nasty bitch, I enjoyed her vindication this week with Tom admitting he avoided confrontation and thereby made her be “bitchy bad cop.”

We got some hints as to the Bowen drama, as Angie mentioned the name Patrick, which caused her pretend husband to warn her never to mention that name. Is this the name of the guy they are running from? Who John Barrowman will play?

When Carlos flipped over Anna and Danny getting too close for comfort on the couch, Angie flipped when she saw him threatening her son. Another clue? I think Danny will be Patrick’s kid, and part of the reason she ran with him, to protect him. Of course by the end of the show Gabby and Carlos evesdropped on the Bowens and learned they are clearly pretending and hiding out on Wisteria Lane.

Orson decided to kill himself, which Bree learned about, and spent the episode saving him and working things out. Bree can’t say she still loves him, but she did, and she could get back to that place. I just can’t help but feel they will pull the fake paralyzed bit at some point. Orson will continue to pretend he’s paralyzed to keep Bree with him.

Finally Susan sold Carl’s share of the strip club, but took in a stripper in the process. Robin quit her job after meeting Susan and decided to pursue a better life. Susan hired her as an assistant, but a father of a student who donated to the school complained when he recognized her. Feeling bad, Susan convinced Mike to let Robin stay with them. Okay first, I was hoping Susan would have reamed the father out, maybe even threatened to tell his wife (assuming he was married) about his hobby. Second, MJ taking a liking to the stripper was hilarious. I couldn’t believe he told Robin “you can give me a bath!”

“Brothers and Sisters”
“Brothers and Sisters” I thought was a little slow, with the main story being about Kitty officially deciding to run for Robert’s vacant senate seat.

Kitty accompanied Kevin to his reunion, and told off this hooligan Kevin used to idolize in an attempt to fit into the cool crowd. When the guy, who got drunk, called Kevin a fag, she said she’d have him killed if he called her brother that again. As awesome as the scene was, I have a feeling it will come back to bite her in the butt on the campaign trail. I bet someone has it on tape and it gets put on YouTube!

Kevin told Kitty that while he supported her decision to run, he did not want to be her campaign manager, it was time he did something which didn’t involve him trying to prove who he was to someone else, or the world in general.

Kevin and Scotty got the news that the first implantation didn’t take. No shock there, I didn’t expect this surrogate to pan out honestly.

Sarah’s budding relationship with Roy got a jolt when Luc texted her that he missed her. Great timing to as the two had just “done the deed.” However the hints are there that these two either won’t work out (he didn’t even know who Spinal Tap where!), or it’s a love triangle for Sarah and she has to chose. I think I’d like to see the later rather than her run back to Luc. That’s too easy!

Finally as Holly continued to hold onto Ojai, David had enough and planned to take a Holly break and go on a work related trip. It made Holly realize perhaps it was time to let go and sell out. She met with the guy who has been trying to buy her out, and she knew he knew something about the worth of the company. It seems he told her in confidence, but we of course didn’t hear the secret. Later David proposed to Holly, saying he realized he never gave her a reason to believe in him and that he would be there for her. She said yes. As happy as I ironically was for Holly, I can’t help but worry she’s going to do something soon to screw over Ojai.
