When “Heroes” returns in the new year, starting on January 11th it will air at 9pm, with “Chuck” airing at 8pm and “Parenthood” at 10pm. (Correction, “Parenthood” starts in March at the 9pm timeslot . . . so yeah . . . . ) Basically it seems “Heroes” will end its season REALLY early this year (“Parenthood” takes over after the Winter Olympics ends in February).

In other related news, Sendhil Ramamurthy (Mohinder), who was cast in a new NBC pilot, has been replaced because of conflicts with “Heroes.” Many fans are taking that as a good sign that the show isn’t on it’s death bed.

Heroes: So Long Nathan

Heroes: So Long Nathan

Posted by Dustin on 12.01.2009 at 6:59 pm

Last night’s “Heroes” was the last new episode until January. It was also the last episode with Adrian Pasdar, unless they bring him back in flashbacks at some point.

Peter spent most of the episode trying to beat Sylar out of Sylar and get Nathan back. In the end, Nathan said he was too weak to fight anymore, and he had to let go. Peter is gone and Sylar is back in control of his body.

Claire found her way to the carnival along with her roommate. Samuel showed them around and Claire decided to stay for the rest of her break to see if she felt like it was where she belonged.

Lydia knows that Samuel killed his brother and framed the knife thrower, but because she has a daughter to protect, she’s keeping his secret. Samuel meanwhile sent a multiplier guy after Noah to steal a box of his files. Noah was warming up to his old Primatech partner during this episode as well.

The show left us on somewhat of a cliff hanger with Samuel showing the carnies where he felt they’d finally plant down roots, stop moving, and call their home. He also expected more people with powers to find their way to them (we then saw clips of all the other “Heroes” out there).

I dunno . . . it was a good episode. However knowing it was Adrian/Nathan’s last episode . . . and now with the news that the actor playing Suresh has booked a new show . . . it really looks like the end is in sight for the show. I would rather the show end on a high, and give the fans a real ending then be canceled and end on a cliffhanger.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Sendhil Ramamurthy, who plays Suresh, is joining a new NBC comedy show called “Rex Is Not Your Lawyer.” Right now they are only shooting a pilot, but Jane Curtin is also set to star.

Will he be doing both, is he leaving “Heroes” or does this mean “Heroes” is in its last season?

Heroes: Brothers’ Secrets

Heroes: Brothers’ Secrets

Posted by Dustin on 11.18.2009 at 6:47 pm

So this week on “Heroes” we finally got some back storys and explanations! The compass was made by Surresh, who used his father’s notes to make it, as well as learned about a boy his father was studying with special powers. The boy was Samuel, and if he surrounded himself with enough specials then it would amplify his powers and he’d become the strongest one of them all. Of course Surresh had to go find Samuel, who was at the carnival with his brother Joseph. Joseph however had kept Samuel from knowing the truth all these years, as he was a pretty violent guy. Samuel found out though and killed Surresh, but Hiro managed to use his powers to save Surresh secretly. He also retrieved the film for Samuel, which Surresh had burnt. Of course Samuel still won’t give Charlie over to Hiro.

I finally felt like we were given the missing pieces here. Samuel’s powers basically don’t make sense as even he doesn’t know the truth about his own powers and it seems they are still evolving as he gathers more specials for his carnival.

Oh we also learned Surresh returned home to India, where it seems he has a wife? She threatened to leave him should he leave on another trip chasing his father’s research. Of course we learned Hiro detained him in a mental hospital all these weeks so Samuel would think he’s still dead. Guess his wife has left him for good now!

Meanwhile the Haitian informed Nathan and Peter that they had been lied to, and led them to the real Nathan’s dead body tucked away in a warehouse. They decided to go see Matt, to get into Nathan’s head, to find out what was going on. Peter was able to heal Matt, but Matt was not able to warn Nathan to stay away from him. Sylar entered Matt, who explained to Nathan who he really was and if he touched his hand he’d make it better. Nathan accidentally touched his hand during a conflict with some police that burst in, and Sylar entered into Nathan. Nathan however remained in control. Matt was able to use his powers to get himself out of the hospital and knew he had to track down Nathan.

A good storyline here as well, but it breaks my heart to know we are counting down to one cast members final episode here. I think had I seen my own dead body in a coffin I would have been a little more freaked out than Nathan and Peter were. Also why the hell would they keep his body around on ice? Clearly something is going on we don’t know, like maybe a plan to bring Nathan back at some point down the road? Well a way to keep that option open I should say.

Finally Tracey went looking for HRG, but found Claire at his place. Claire worked to help her try and gain control of her powers, which were going nuts. Claire felt it was something psychological going on causing Tracey to lose control. At the end of the show she met up with Samuel again to talk about the carnival.

The only thing I didn’t get with this story was house Claire could have healed herself when Tracey turned her completely to ice. If her brain is destroyed, she can’t come back. Also her foot broke off, yet she grew another one? I guess that happened before with her toe in an episode, but still . . . That was stretching it even for “Heroes.”

Heroes: Matt’s In Some Deep . . .

Heroes: Matt’s In Some Deep . . .

Just some quick thoughts on the latest “Heroes.”

The storyline with Matt and Sylar was the best part of the episode. Though poor Matt, Sylar killed all those people in his body. Something tells me saying “My body was taken over by a serial killer” isn’t gunna fly. I guess he could sway the jury with his powers :) The end where he set Sylar up to be shot by the cops, knowing they’d both die, was shocking. I thought they were gunna kill Matt off! From the previews it looks like Peter heals him though.

Sylar’s body meanwhile woke up as Nathan again and fled the carnival and tracked down Peter. Of course Samuel’s gunna be pissed that Sylar is gone. I still don’t get why he is recruiting all these heroes, and he should know better not to have Sylar around all these people with powers.

Samuel tried to recruit Claire for some reason this week. Again we don’t know why, and frankly this carnival story is on my last nerve. It’s confusing and befuddled and they need to really explain what Samuel’s agenda is. We got a back story about Becky, the invisible girl, who had a bone to pick with Noah for killing her dad (so it seems). Not convinced that’s really what happened though. Oh and we learned Danko killed Samuel’s brother, and the compass supposedly lets them guide the traveling carnival or something. Again, we need an episode that explains this carnival :)

A good episode, but seeing a certain character and knowing he’s getting killed off soon sucks :(

Heroes: If I Could Turn Back Time . . .

Heroes: If I Could Turn Back Time . . .

Posted by Dustin on 11.03.2009 at 6:45 pm

Last nights “Heroes” took place three years in the past. Hiro traveled back to save Charlie. Not only was he trying to save Charlie from Sylar, but at the same time HRG was trying to find Sylar (not knowing what he looked like) while Claire was getting ready for the homecoming game which would become the famous cheerleader massacre.

It was an interesting episode. Hiro convinced Sylar to save Charlie by destroying her brain tumor. In exchange he’d tell him of his future (he said he gained many powers, was very evil, and everyone ganged up on him to kill him).

Samuel meanwhile needed Hiro back at the carnival and doing work for him. He kidnapped Charlie at the end, having his own time-traveler trap her somewhere in space in time. He’d tell Hiro where she was . . . if he did something for him. Samuel’s time traveler, like Hiro, had a brain tumor and taking Charlie was his last act alive. Samuel told Hiro he had made a mistake several weeks back, one that needs to be fixed. We then learned he apparently killed Mohinder weeks ago, which is why we haven’t seen him.

It was an okay episode, and the time traveling provided a fun twist to things, like seeing HRG working with some female partner we never saw before. I’m not sure why she was there really, other than to show HRG’s marriage wasn’t perfect at all (she wanted to have an affair with him).

Meanwhile, the news broke last night as to the prominent male star who has been fired by the show and will be permanently killed off. Read after the jump if you want to know!

Heroes: Holding Out For Heroes Is Getting Hard!

Heroes: Holding Out For Heroes Is Getting Hard!

Posted by Dustin on 10.28.2009 at 7:23 pm

I remember when I was so excited for Monday nights, “Heroes” and then “Medium” were on, NBC was good. Now “Medium” is on CBS and “Heroes” . . . . sadly I think I’ve finally reached the point where if I miss an episode or don’t pay close attention it doesn’t kill me. Granted I have a lot going on in my personal life right now, but TV is usually my scapegoat and time to vege and chill. However I find myself not being interested in “Heroes” much lately. Case in point, the following is pretty much what I recall happening on the show . . .

Matt continued to struggle with Sylar, who was now taking over his mind and threatening to harm his family. Matt remained determined to keep Sylar stuck in his prison cell/head.

Noah called in Tracy to help him with the healer kid Jeremy, who was arrested and was being held until a next-of-kin showed up. He had Tracy pose as her aunt. Later Tracy found herself sucked into Samuel’s traveling carnival.

Samuel got pissed at the end and started using his power (which I still am not sure what it is, be it ink marking or moving the earth) and started making some building crumble.

Claire and Gretchen went through sorority initiation.

Yeah that’s about what I remember! I went ad did read the official recap, so I know what I missed. Should I have a free moment I’ll watch the whole show over. However I just feel a bit sad. I have felt since last season that this season would be the final one for “Heroes.” I think more so now that I have a hard time watching it. I know I’m not alone either, but I also know many people still enjoy it. I am hoping it gets really good again so I can get back into it. I will say I do like that they seem more focused with the episodes this year, concentrating on only two or three characters in each episode.

However other things, I’m not so happy about. There are too many loose ends that still bug me. Where is the third sister of Tracy’s “Barbara?” (Not to mention how Nikki was never explained!). Will Tracy find her at the carnival? Where the heck is Micah?

I also had high hopes for the Dark Carnies, but so far the story just seems to be disjointed and a mess. I’m assuming at some point we may get a whole episode dedicated to them and their backstories which might explain everything.
