KELLY PRESTON (’THE TENTH CIRCLE,’ ‘DEATH SENTENCE’) TO GUEST STAR ON NBC’S ‘MEDIUM’ FOR A FOUR EPISODE ARC AS AN ATTRACTIVE VENTURE CAPITALIST WHO SEES SOMETHING SPECIAL IN JOE (JAKE WEBER) AND HIS NEW INVENTION, WHICH ULTIMATELY CREATES TENSION IN HIS MARRIAGE TO ALLISON (EMMY WINNER PATRICIA ARQUETTE)
BURBANK, Calif. - March 24, 2008 - Actress Kelly Preston (”The Tenth Circle,” “Death Sentence”) will guest star in NBC’s hit drama “Medium” for a four episode arc, beginning Monday, April 14, 10-11:00 p.m. ET. Beginning with an episode entitled “Partners In Crime,” Preston will play Meghan Doyle, an attractive venture capitalist who likes what she sees when Joe Dubois (Jake Weber) makes a presentation on his new solar power-based invention to her investment firm. Her decision to independently fund and become business partners with Joe ultimately creates tension in his marriage to Allison (Emmy winner Patricia Arquette), it was announced today by Executive Producer Glenn Gordon Caron.
“We’re thrilled to have Kelly join us for the final episodes of Season 4,” said Caron. “For the role of Meghan Doyle, a venture capitalist who decides to underwrite Joe, we needed an actress who exuded both intelligence and sexuality. Someone who could stand toe-to-toe with Patricia and Jake, and credibly create chaos in a household and a marriage that is as strong as any on television.”
Preston has proven her versatility with strong performances in smaller independent films including “From Dusk ‘Til Dawn” and “Citizen Ruth” as well as in hit feature films, including her breakout role in “Jerry McGuire” opposite Tom Cruise. Since then, she has appeared alongside Michael Keaton in “Jack Frost,” Jim Carrey in “The Cat in the Hat” and received critical notices for her role opposite Kevin Costner in “For the Love of the Game.” She appeared in “Battlefield Earth,” a film produced by her husband of 16 years, John Travolta, and most recently starred with Kevin Bacon in “Death Sentence.” Later this year, Preston will star in “The Tenth Circle,” based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Jodi Picoult.

Medium Fails To Catch The Bad Guys
Posted by Dustin on 03.04.2008 at 11:48 am
I don’t really know what to say about the last two episodes of “Medium.” In the episode two weeks ago, Allison was called to help defend a man who was accused of murdering his second wife. Allison saw him pushing her off a cliff in a car, but it turns out he thought he was protecting his special needs daughter, who had gotten violent in the past. The twist was it was his other daughter who killed her step-mother, lied to her father so he’d cover it up thinking it was his other daughter. In the end the father confessed and the guilty daughter just let him go to jail! Allison couldn’t prove it, but said she’d be watching the guilty one.
In this week’s episode, Manuel decided to run for DA again, with the help from a friend in the senate. Unfortunately Allison was having dreams this guy killed and ate some other guy, who was soon found dead. As it turned out, the senator, along with several other men were all in Vietnam together and POWs. The dead guy was with them and was blackmailing them over what happened in a camp. They were all being starved and basically agreed to kill and eat one of the people who was dying. Most everyone went on to be successful in life, except one guy who started blackmailing the others over what happened. They finally had enough and killed him. However like last week’s episode, someone confessed and the others went free!
Now two weeks ago I was shocked the bad guy went free. I thought “whoa” that’s an interesting twist I didn’t expect to see coming. Now however we’ve had two episodes in a row where Allison fails to catch the bad guys. This is a little too much. Real to life yes, but at the same time not why I’m watching “Medium.” Here is hoping these criminals get caught at some point, or at least next week something good finally happens.
Medium: You Can’t Hear Yourself Scream

“Medium” returned last night with an interesting episode. Allison began having dreams of a deaf girl being kidnapped. This lead to her going deaf herself! The case ended up being what Cynthia Keener (Angelica Houston) was working on, and Allison was pulled in to help. It was interesting to see Allison having trouble communicating her dreams and relying on Joe. However as far as the case went, I was disappointed. The minute we learned the deaf girl was the daughter of a millionaire, I immediately guessed the father orchestrated it as part of an insurance scam to funnel money around. That is what it turned out to be, the step-father (played by the actor who played Rex on “Desperate Housewives”) was behind it all.
One thing that didn’t bore me in this episode though was Angelica Houston. I absolutely LOVE her character on the show, it’s a breath of fresh air. I’m really hoping that she’ll be kept around. I realize she probably has bigger things to do than TV, but I’d love it if she was recurring, popping up for a few episodes a season.

Here are the official listings for the next four airings of “Medium.” With the strike now over, I’m not sure if they’ll be producing anymore or not after this, I believe they will though.

NBC Announces Returning Shows!
Posted by Dustin on 02.14.2008 at 11:15 am
Two big official press releases from NBC have come out detailing the rest of the line-up for this season, as well as what has been renewed for next season. Alas it looks like we won’t get any new “Heroes” until the fall. Additionally it looks like “Journeyman” AND “Bionic Woman” are both goners. For “Friday Night Lights” fans, again no mention of that show either I’m afraid.

Medium: The Dreams Continue
Posted by Dustin on 01.22.2008 at 9:20 pm
Last week’s “Medium” I thought was just okay. In the episode Alison kept dreaming that Ariel died in a car accident where her car flipped after hitting a dear. Meanwhile Ariel was angry that Allison wouldn’t let her go to a concert with a boy until she was 16. She started dreaming about her mom sneaking out to a concert when she was 14, and followed in her footsteps. At the same time the woman from Ameritips was upset that Allison wasn’t much help with a kidnapped girl in the area. In the end, as in the last minute, it all came together. In the past, Allison and her friend Casey Tunstall got busted catching a ride to the concert. The cop dropped Allison off at her home and Casey, whose body Ariel took over in the dreams, was apparently raped or something equally horrific by the cop. Allison just suddenly figured out this cop kidnapped the missing girl Angelica Houston’s character was looking for. She figured this out when she learned her friend Casey died years ago when she hit a deer. Casey + Ariel = bad cop. While I enjoyed the fact that they concentrated more on the family dynamics, I just felt the mystery in this episode was lacking. It just suddenly came together at the last minute, which was a little blahzay for me. Oh and hello, I was expecting Allison’s friend to actually turn out to be the singer KT Tunstall! I sat there thinking that was the whole point of the show, the name was just so close, I thought a big cameo!
Last night’s episode was a bit more like the “Medium” I know and love. Joe was up for a job at a company owned by Michael Gross. His wife happened to be Dr. Grey and was a big believer in Allison. This came in handy when their daughter went missing. Allison of course was confused, all her dreams were of the daughters first marriage and honeymoon in Paris . . . or where they? In the dream the daughter was unhappy and stabbed the man in the hand with a corkscrew! The big twist came when she learned the first husband made dioramas for museums, and had recreated their Paris hotel room down to the last detail. He had kidnapped her and taken her there. Of course she was rescued, but the father sold his company . . . to Diatech, Joe’s old company. The show ended with them discussing the possibility of moving as Joe couldn’t find jobs anywhere.
Now the bad news . . . no new “Mediums” for four weeks! Nooooooo!
I Have A Dream . . . . Medium Returns!
Posted by Dustin on 01.08.2008 at 12:28 pm
“Medium” came back last night. Wow was it very different from the other seasons. Miguel is out as DA and wasn’t in this episode at all until the very end. Scanlon was relegated to kindergarten cop basically and was ignoring Allison. I really hated the way he treated her, because she had done so much for him and the DA! The new DA is just a jerk.
Allison’s hubby is out of work, as is she, and money is tight. She was having dreams about a missing boy in this episode, but nobody to tell! Scanlon finally wised up and started listening to her, but it was too late, the boy was dead. This was one of the more gruesome episodes, having the little boy found stuffed in a toy box. Gross! I wasn’t expecting that at all. I hope this isn’t setting a gory precedent for the rest of the season.
Angelica Huston joined as an investigator for an organization called Ameritips. She thought Allison was a nut, until all her tips panned out at the end and she realized she was a psychic. Angelica gave her a big fat check basically as a retainer. I think I’m going to like this partnership. Angelica’s character mentioned to Allison she was a bit intuitive too . . . . was that a hint that she has the gift? I couldn’t decide.
Miguel returned at the end of the show from his vacation, deciding he’d open up a law firm. Next week’s previews seem to have him doing that, and trying to hire Allison to work with him. At least he’s not turning on her. I still however think the new DA is dirty, something is going to come out with him and I think Miguel will end up back in office.
