Just a quick post on some shows I’ve started watching (again) but don’t often think to regularly blog about.

SyFy’s special effects show “Face Off” is back, hosted by McKenzie Westmore of “Passions” fame. This show really is a guilty pleasure. It’s “Project Runway” meets sci-fi/horror make-up. I love it, though I often don’t agree with who they send home each week. The show just started back up, you can catch it on On-Demand.

Speaking of “Project Runway,” I was really excited about the “All Stars” series, until I found out there is no Heidi, no Tim, No Nina and no Michael. What’s the point? I haven’t seen it because I’ve been on vacation, but I’m sure Lifetime will have a marathon soon enough.

Over to Bravo is “Tabatha Takes Over.” No longer doing just Salons, she’s expanded to all sorts of businesses this season. I just love her take no shhhhhhh attitude. Love Tabatha!

Starting up soon will be “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” yet another guilty pleasure. Just love how down and dirty these drag queens get.

I only watched a little of the premier of “American Idol” last night. I usually enjoy the auditions, but this year other TV is winning me over. I’m sure I’ll get caught up in Idol-Mania soon enough, only to wonder why yet again. I’m not sure what the point of the show is anymore, as the people who win more often than not don’t go on to great careers . . . .

“Project Runway” Season 9 began this week, and they did things a little differently. They started off with 20 designers and had to immediately cut 4 in a very “American Idol” like process. The judges sat at a table as the designers showed them their best. Heidi played the role of Paula, and it seemed like she was even drinking some Paula juice!

Eventually the competition got underway, with them having to make an outfit out of only their bed sheet and their pajamas they wore the night before. It was an interesting challenge.

Some of the outfits were great, some were horrific. They guy that was sent home I felt bad for, because Tim told him that he was an “on the fence” add by the judges. I think that completely killed his confidence.

One girl came claiming she had just learned to sew in the past 4 months. I was shocked when they let her into the competition, I felt like this was going to be a disaster. She almost won! She made a great outfit.

It looks like it’s going to be a good season with a lot of drama based on the previews!

So Gretchen won this season of “Project Runway.”

I . . . was . . . so . . . angry! I stayed up late to watch the rerun and felt I had not only wasted those 2 hours, but waisted time this entire season.

I completely expected Mondo to win, and I think he deserved to win. I just DIDN’T understand their crappy judging this season, especially from Top Designer Michael Korrs and Neeeeenaaaa Gaaaaacccciaaaaa.

I loved Heidi trying her best to argue for Mondo at the end. Nina and Michael were all about Gretchen’s “wearability” and “sale-able” to the mainstream woman. I feel like in the past they have marked people down for designing clothes just like that. Suddenly that was in, cutting edge was out.

I also felt Gretchen’s clothes were just, as they constantly said, crunchy granola boring. How suddenly did her clothes, as Korrs put it, become what America wanted. He said she had her finger on the pulse of fashion, that she was what was now in.

I was just overall frustrated. Some people do like Gretchen and feel she did deserved to win. One of those being Gretchen. Her lack of humility also irked me. The day after many TV/Fashion sites had interviews with her and she point blank said not only did she deserve to win, she EXPECTED to win.

I hope Gretchen did not go read Twitter after the episode, because it exploded with love for Mondo and disgust for Grouchy Gretchen.

Oh and it was sweet to see her former girl BFFs on the show turn on her at the reunion after watching the seasons episodes and seeing how nasty Gretchen was in all of her confessional interviews!

Last night’s “Project Runway” was pretty epic. In fact I got two amazing chuckles.

In an episode where Heidi was the client, past contestants were brought back to work with current ones to help them with the challenge. Poor Michael C said he’d rather have worked on his own because everyone of course hates him.

Unfortunately one of the people brought back was Ivy. Ivy then proceeded to accuse Michael C of cheating in one of the challenges. She, and others, even said they went to the producer the next day with the claim, but by then it was too late. Their claim was that he apparently used some kind of tape to put together his outfit. He had said to the camera (interview) that the model used the tape on some sticky-boob cup things, and had he taped his outfit together he would have not left evidence around.

Okay first, am I watching the right show here? Because I know damn well I’ve seen outfits go down the runways AND be called out for being stapled, safety pinned and every other form of last minute screwed up construction! So what if he used tape?

Tim basically put Ivy in her place for this accusation, and then so did the universe (probably with some editing help). She went on this rant about how Michael C was a horrible person, his family should be ashamed to watch him on this show, and she believed Karma would get him. Then we saw her sewing machine attack her and nearly put her eye out! . . . . . . I know one shouldn’t laugh at a serious accident, but Ivy is nasty and it was funny (and I suspect good editing).

The other amazing part of this episode was when Heidi basically called Gretchen out on the runway for being completely unable to take criticism. She even did this hilarious impersonation of her as a grumpy gorilla! Gretchen was convinced Heidi hates her. Hey Gretchen . . . . don’t look on twitter cause it’s not just Heidi! She is just as nasty as Heidi and I really wish she was sent home last night.

Unfortunately Christopher was sent home. I think Gretchen should have gone, in part because of her horrid attitude this whole season, but she brings the drama and I think the show likes having that.

I also found myself once again NOT agreeing with the judges. The contestants were supposed to be making active wear for Heidi’s line, but in fact this is not really active wear people are working out in. It’s “throw this on and look trendy running errands in” wear. The judges thought April’s outfits were great, though she didn’t win. I thought they looked like lingerie personally. I thought for sure she’d be in the bottom, but she wasn’t.

This week was no exception. While Casanova’s dress did look like “Golden Girls” beach wear, it was at least nice. Ivy just designed a wrap, which ironically she and everyone else on this show keep bitching Michael C always does.

Why keep Ivy? The same reason they kept “team leader/taker-over” Gretchen a few weeks back, drama! I think someone at the show didn’t want to lose the drama factor, and Gretchen and Ivy seem to bring it.

Right now I just want to see little Michael C keep wining only because so many people on the show seem to hate him.

The latest, and expanded, season of “Project Runway” hit Lifetime tonight. Not only was it an hour and a half, but they had more contestants than normal. So the first challenge was one they had about five hours to do in order to weed out some of them right off the bat. They called it an “Extended Audition.” They had to make an outfit out of a garment belonging to another one of the designers.

I really don’t remember many of their names at this point, except for Kristin cause she’s from Philly, Ivy because of her fugly pants, and Cesar for his Princess Leia slave outfit . . . . and the fact that a pair of $1000 pants of his got destroyed as part of the challenge. Who pays that much money for pants that isn’t a movie star? Honestly, even if you are a movie star . . . that’s insane!

In the end this one girl with dreads got eliminated . . . while Cesar and his slave outfit and this other guy (Jacob) who basically turned a kimono backwards and stapled it (awesome, you made a snuggie!) got to stay. Really? Sometimes I wonder what in the hell goes on in the judges heads. At least the girl they sent home sewed something!

I hope this season will be good, cause this show needs a really awesome and exceptional season.

Tonight on Logo is the premier of “RuPaul’s Drag U,” where real women get schooled in proper drag etiquette and more. Yes the concept is taking real “frumpy” women and giving them drag makeovers. The commercials for tonights show say you’ll learn how to make a proper ghetto drag queen corset. I know you all need one of them!

July 29th isn’t far off, and is the premier of the new season of “Project Runway.” You can head over to Lifetime TV and meet all the new designers. Yay for a local from Philly!

Right after “Runway” is the premier of “On The Road With Austin And Santino.” Yes two of the most memorable “Runway” designers now have their own show. I’m not sure how Austin Scarlet and Santino are going to get along honestly. I think they might kill each other, or Santino will kill Austin.

So several of the few reality shows I actually regularly watched* have ended. At this point I think in terms of reality all I have to look forward to is “Big Brother” over the summer.

“Shear Genius” ended with the underdog Brig winning the whole thing. I literally stood up and yelled “YES!” when she won. I loved her final performance, it was different and unique. I think mostly I was just so sick of “The Wonder Twins” just constantly talking down about her and thinking their $@#$@ didn’t stink at all. I also didn’t enjoy Jonathan Antin as one of the judges this season, he too thinks his #$%#$ doesn’t stink. He was the only one who didn’t like what Brig did, so again that helped in my love that she won.

Seth Aaron meanwhile won “Project Runways.” Honestly as long as Mila didn’t win, I was happy. I was somewhat surprised by Emilio’s reaction that he in fact didn’t win. He looked as if he was about to cry, yet at the same time go postal as he thought he should have won the whole thing. He was too certain of himself, and again, lead to his downfall. Honestly though, his collection was colorful, but boring. He got too caught up in putting out something that was marketable and forgot part of this was also a SHOW. Had he put more out of what he had done throughout the season, rather than something marketed to the everyday woman, he could have won it all.

Finally “RuPaul’s Drag Race” crowned Tyra Banks as the season 2 winner. This was a world of NO for me, as I loathed her through the whole show. She’s another “My @#$@#$ don’t stank” person, but unfortunately her stanky @#%@#% took the prize. After seeing the reunion show though, I’m somewhat glad that Raven didn’t win. She was just fairly nasty on it to numerous contestants! I really wanted JuJuBee to win, but it wasn’t meant to be. “RuPaul’s Drag School” is airing this summer though, which could be fun!

* In spite of trying, I still haven’t gotten back into “Dancing With The Stars.” I think Shannan being voted off early didn’t help, and Kate sticking around as long as she did just irked me. I would turn it off half way through when “RuPaul’s Drag Race started.” As for “American Idol,” I watch it sporadically, but

I was so sad to see Jonathan go, but that potato sack dress he made was fugly. If he turned it around it might have worked!

Anthony being back is fine with me, and not only did he win this week, it appears that Michael Koors tells him next week that his garment is his favorite of the season. That could be editing though.

Two are out next week, I just ask that Milla be one of them
