Project Runway: Catching Up

Project Runway: Catching Up

After marathons this week, I’m finally up to date with “Project Runway.” Honestly I don’t know what to say! Kit and Kevin both out? I thought they were some of the most “on” designers all season. When I look at who we are left with after this week? I just don’t know! I think Rhami will for sure end up in the final 3 (or 4 if they do that again this year). My other two choices, if it’s a final 3, are Jillian and Christian (though I hate to admit it, he’s a jerk). Sweet Pea I think has the potential to get there, and I hope she does.

Runway: Jack Out, Chris In, Steve OUT

Runway: Jack Out, Chris In, Steve OUT

So last night’s “PR” was a bit depressing. Because of an infection he had to have treated, Jack had to leave the show. This really sucks as he was doing so well, he may have been able to make it to the final three! I hope they’ll consider bringing him back next season at least. To keep things “fair” they brought Chris back, which made me happy! This challenge was to make a new outfit for ladies who lost a lot of weight, using the materials of their old favorite outfit. Poor Steve got the woman with the wedding dress! First, why would someone offer up their wedding dress to be completely cut up by a designer? Second, the show had to have known the person who got that would have the biggest disadvantage because it was so much lace and beading. Of course Steve ended up going home, but I can’t blame them for sending him home. He didn’t even do anything at all with the woman’s dress! He just made a black dress and put some white trim on it. It looked terrible. Christian won this challenge, though I felt Kevin’s outfit was so much better. Also I’m getting a bit tired of Christian’s 80’s inspired big shoulder pad outfits. Eventually the judges will too, and they’ll start telling him he needs to show them something more. Every season they have one of these designers stuck in their trend that can’t break out (Santino, Laura, Austin Scarlett).

Project Runway: Chris . . . Your Out

Project Runway: Chris . . . Your Out

Last night on “Project Runway” the contestants once again had to work in teams. This challenge was to take a group of fashion don’ts and make them into fashion dos. They had to make a cohesive and modern collection. They worked in pairs of threes, and each team made three outfits.

I really hate the team challenges, mainly because it’s always the team leader that seems to be sent home, even when they shouldn’t have been.

Tonight the clear winner was of course Jillian’s team, they did an amazing job. The two bottom teams were Ricky’s team and Chris’ team. When it came time to send someone home, it was down to the two team leaders. Honestly I think Ricky should have gone home, as his outfit was poorly done. Chris was sent home though as his collection wasn’t as modern as they’d have liked and it wasn’t a cohesive collection. Ricky I don’t expect to last much longer though, his work just isn’t up to par.

The real loser for me in this challenge was Victorya. I have always loved her work, but she was a beyotch tonight! If she wanted to be leader, she should have stepped up. She let Ricky be leader when he wanted to, but then when he didn’t perform up to her standards, she usurped his power. Victorya’s on my bad list right now!

Project Runway: Carmen Is OUT!

Project Runway: Carmen Is OUT!

I love my “Project Runway,” but have always thought it would be a nice change to have a menswear season. However I realize there just isn’t as much they can do in the way of challenges with menswear. So I was so happy to see last night the challenge was to design for a man!

The problem? Most of these designers DON’T do menswear. I thought that was a little unfair to them honestly. However some pulled it off, many didn’t.

Jack played it smart and just did pants and a shirt, both very well made. He won the challenge. I have to say I thought while it was well made, it was a little boring. There were a few others I thought were actually a bit better (though the names of the designers escape me right now).

The loser of this challenge was Carmen, who was out. NO! This upset me greatly, as I really liked her. Her main problem was that she didn’t finish the outfit, she put a wrap around the guy to symbolize the shirt she was to make. There of course were issues with her pants. Sweet Pea, while she finished her shirt and pants, well they were just complete disasters! There was a third contestant on the cutting block (Ricky) who left pins in his outfit as it wasn’t done. I actually thought it was Sweet Pea who would be out, and was a little shocked she wasn’t.

Project Runway: Who Is In And Who Is Out?

Project Runway: Who Is In And Who Is Out?

So “Project Runway” this week was almost a 180 of last week’s top two and bottom two! This week the contestants had to design an outfit that would fit into Sarah Jessica Parker’s new clothing line Bitten, and it had to retail for under 40 dollars, which only have them 15 dollars for a budget! They all met with Sarah to pitch their ideas, she picked the 7 she liked most and then they were paired up in teams. When Chris met her he was so speechless he couldn’t hardly present, and broke down saying how great it was to meet her. Hilarious! Then Kevin presented and walked away as she held out her hand to shake it, and he didn’t realize and left! I almost died laughing!

In the end, like I said, the roles were reversed. Christian who was in the top two last week, found himself in the bottom two for his 80s inspired nightmare. As Michael Coors best put it, it was straight out of Robert Palmer’s “Addicted To Love.” Elise who was in the bottom two last week with her train wreck of a dress, was in the top two this week. The winner however was Victorya with her dress and vest combo. I liked it, but honestly not as much as Elise’s surprisingly. I did love when the spit marking technique of Elise’s was revealed that Heidi said “Don’t tell anyone that!” Too late! Marion was sent home for his burlap sack/chain mail looking nightmare of a dress. It was just terrible all around!

Project Runway: Your Out!

Project Runway: Your Out!

So last night Bravo debuted the new season of “Project Runway.” Did anyone watch? Any PR fans out there? I tuned in, but given the enormous amount of designers I can’t recall their names or half of what they did, so I don’t yet have any early favorites. Within a week or two I think I probably will.

I do have some issues with the winners and losers of this week’s show though. Let’s start with the guy who won, Rami. While his dress was beautifully made, it was GREY. It was BATTLESHIP GREY. Maybe this is the new it color in design, I don’t know. I do know in past seasons the judges often get bored with monotone colors, and to me this dress was a drab boring color. However at the same time, I didn’t like the runner up’s outfit much either (Christian I think).

Elise and Simone were in the bottom two, and they sent Simone home. They thought her outfit was poorly constructed and the jacket didn’t go with the dress at all. She was sent home, over Elise whose dress was a walking nightmare, literally! She tacked on this insane train that the model got caught up in. I think her saving grace was that if she had cut it off, the dress would have been good. I still don’t know if she deserved to stay over that other girl though. They did say her dress was well made and commented about it being one piece, which is hard to do.

Saturday Night TV Returns? Paige Davis Returns to Trading Spaces!

Saturday Night TV Returns? Paige Davis Returns to Trading Spaces!

Posted by Dustin on 11.15.2007 at 11:30 pm

For me, Saturday night TV is deader than dead. A few years ago it was all about “Trading Spaces,” until the ridiculous decision to fire host Paige Davis was made and the formula of the show was all screwed up. I all but stop watching, I think a lot of America did as well!

Well “Trading Spaces,” now under a new production company, has asked Paige to come back! Woohoo! Something to watch on Saturday nights again! The new episodes will begin airing in January and designers Doug Wilson, Laurie Hickson-Smith, Frank Bielec and Hildi Santo-Thomas will also return to the show, alongside carpenters and other designers to be announced later.

Dancing With The Stars: Shocking Results!

Dancing With The Stars: Shocking Results!

I haven’t been blogging about “Dancing With The Stars” much. I’ve been trying to keep up, but “Heroes” cuts in so I keep having to turn it off. However tonight was one of the most shocking results I’ve ever seen on the show. One of, if not the strongest competitor Sabrina the Cheetah Girl was ousted tonight! I just don’t know what to say. I thought for sure she’d make it to the end.

So last night Wayne went home on “Dancing With The Stars.” I really can’t say I was surprised, but I was surprised Marc Cuban didn’t end up in the bottom two with him. I think Marc, Floyd and Cameron will be the next ones to probably go home. It’s getting going to get hard to figure out who will continue to go on from here, as each week it seems someone new stands out from the others.

Dancing With The Stars Eliminations

Dancing With The Stars Eliminations

Posted by Dustin on 10.03.2007 at 12:36 pm

So the first two off “Dancing With The Stars” were the model/actors Josie Maran and then Albert Reed. Josie totally deserved to go home, she just wasn’t that great. Albert however was robbed. Of course he said in week one the problem was nobody knew him, it would be hard for him to get the votes.

Thus one of my biggest beefs with this show. While the final few contestants always end up being the most amazing dancers on the show, the road there is usually a bit flawed and aggravating. It’s more of a popularity contest on who stays and who goes. Case in point Wayne, who obviously has a big enough fan base to keep him on the show when he should have been the one to go home. There are a few others who should be in the bottom two instead of Albert this week as well.

I think next week might be Wayne’s week to go home, him or Mark Cuban probably.
