True Blood Season 2 Cast Additions
Posted by Dustin on 12.23.2008 at 6:13 pm
Ausiello scooped today that Wes Brown joins the cast as Luke, a God-obsessed hunk that “bonds” with Jason for at least six episodes. Jason, as you recall, found God at the end of the 1st season and joined that cultish like church “The Fellowship of the Sun” dedicated to wiping out the vampires.
Previously he also reported that Anna Camp would be joining next season as Sarah, the wife of Reverend Steve Newland, who we briefly saw on TV and at the end of last season when Jason joined his church. Also Ashley Jones (of “Bold and Beautiful” fame) joins as Daphne, a new waitress at Merlots. That right there is a strike against her character, as season 1 was not kind to the waitresses!
Season 2 will begin filming in January and is set to air next Summer.

True Blood: Season Finale
Posted by Dustin on 11.24.2008 at 4:53 pm
So last night was the big season finale of “True Blood.” We have to wait till next summer for new episodes. Oh the wait!
We learned that Rene was indeed the killer and the guy from the next town over who Bill and Sookie looked into last week. He wasn’t even Cajun, faking his accent. Sam came to Sookie’s rescue, as did Bill. However it was during the day and Bill was fried to a crisp. She and Sam quickly buried him to save his life.
As quick as she seemed to fall for Sam last week, Sookie was back to loving Bill. He risked his life to try and save her, that apparently proved his love to her. Poor Sam, cast out so quickly!
Tara meanwhile was living the sweet life at the woman’s mansion, where she met another stray the woman took in. It was a guy, and they hit it off. Seems like she has a new love interest, but I don’t know if I trust him (he was the bad Applewhite kid on “Housewives” the 2nd season). I think the woman’s name is Meredith, I forget actually. I just remember it began with an M. She wasn’t a vampire, as she came out in the day. However something was up with her. When Sam saw her he freaked out, he knew her and she knew his secret. She made a comment how she was bound to find him sooner or later and called him a silly little dog. Is she a shape shifter too? One thing is for sure, Sam is scared of her, and her comment made it seem like she’s been pursuing him. Sam was scared so much so that he fled town with a whole lot of money at the end of the show.
Jason meanwhile was let out of jail when Rene was revealed to be the real killer. After a visit from some guy from one of those vampire hating churches, Jason realized he was given a second chance and needed to do something meaningful with his life. He then found God. Great, it sounds like we are in for Jason preaching anti-vampire stuff come next season.
Lafayette, poor Lafayette was attacked by something as the show neared its end. Then it fast forwarded two weeks and he had not turned up. Oh no, not Lafayette! We then saw Bill appear to Sookie healed, saying he had fed to speed up his healing. No no no no! He better not have killed Lafayette. That would suck, no vampire pun intended there. I’m hoping he didn’t kill him, though maybe he turned him?
Speaking of turning, Eric brought Jessica back to Bill as the show wound down. He and his blond side kick had had it with her, saying she was far too annoying and Bill’s problem. Poor Bill, now he’s stuck with that brat who will clearly crimp his love nest with Sookie. I do think she’s hilarious though.
Finally Tara and Sookie were closing up the bar as Andy was getting drunk over Jason going free. I’m not sure why he has it in for Jason, but whatever. As they walked him out to his car, he couldn’t find it. They found it, but he swore it had been moved. When they opened the door, what looked like a white lady’s arm fell out of the back seat!
And now we wait . . . .

So this is it kiddies, one final episode of the season and then we all are in for some “True Blood” withdrawals. This is gunna suck!
Tara ended up arrested for drunk driving. Her telling the cop she swerved off the rode because of a nekkid lady and a giant pig didn’t help matters. In jail her mother refused to help her, saying she couldn’t poison her soul and Tara was going down a dark road. Damn, after years of Tara putting up with her stuff? Tara even pointed that out, but her mother still wouldn’t help her out. She not only wouldn’t bail her out, she kicked her out of their home!
Fortunately for Tara, the sheriff, who was a friend of hers, supposedly called some woman to help. She’s some kind of adult social worker who helps people down on their luck. She not only paid Tara’s bail, but took her home. Her home BTW was a giant mansion! Yeah you know this isn’t good. The fact that this rich woman came out to bail her out in the middle of the night? I wonder if we’ll see her in the morning . . . .
Bill found him stuck with Jessica, the girl he turned into a Vampire. It was up to him to teach her what that meant and how to survive. To his horror the girl was thrilled by the idea that she had no rules, no church, no parents to answer to. She was also very eager to kill someone, a lot of people actually, she had a list! By far not what I was expecting but extremely hilarious. Bill got annoyed with her and took her to Eric, who also found her annoying. Eric however offered to teach her how to drink blood from a victim properly, probably some fang-banger at Fangtasia.
Sam and Sookie got closer as they tried to track down the killer. Both were upset over their failed relationships with Bill and Tara as well. Sookie was beginning to think Bill wasn’t coming back. The two went to the next town over to search a lead, something Sookie saw in the killer’s head. A woman was killed there, it was rumored she was a fang banger. After she died her brother went missing. They got a deputy there to fax over the brother’s photo to their sheriff’s office as a possible lead.
Sam and Sookie started making out when Bill arrived at Sookie’s house, extremely pissed off! Sookie was just as pissed and rescinded her invitation to Bill, forcing him to leave her home! Oh dear. It definitely looks like we have a love triangle going on here. I actually was really liking Sam and Tara too.
Jason was forced to clean up what was left of Eddie. He then demanded Amy get off the V, no more. Later Jason made the huge mistake of telling Rene and a coworker about Amy’s problem. Rene asked if she slept with Vamps too, but Jason didn’t know. Yeah, Rene was just a little too interested in that! Jason went home and wanted Amy to stay, but she had to stop the V. She had one drop left and felt they needed one last trip to “close the circle” and then it would be done. Jason agreed, and in their drugged out sleep . . . a man came in and killed Amy. Well I did say I’d rather have seen her dead over Eddie last week, but not like that! I don’t think I’ll miss her crazy butt though.
Jason called the cops convinced maybe he had killed all those women, but not his Grandmother. That one he wouldn’t confess to. However his confession to the cops sucked, he didn’t know how or why he would kill anyone. They locked him up as the show ended and the faxed photo from the next town over came in . . . yup . . . it was Rene. So it looks like the killer was Rene. You knew when Arlene said he was too good to be true that he was!

I’m not gunna lie, the latest episode of “True Blood” just bummed me out! This is a very dark show, but even for me this one was just sad. I think I was more bummed out by this episode than the one in which Gran died.
Sam revealed his secret to Sookie, that he was a shape shifter. He could take on any animal form, as long as he had a model. That’s why he had the dog as a pet. He couldn’t do humans, they were too complex. He however only said he couldn’t do them, maybe other shifters could? Also he revealed Werewolves were real too, as were other things she couldn’t imagine. Sookie was furious Sam had lied to her and stayed angry with him through most of the episode. Near the end was the engagement partly for Arlene and Renee. Someone attempted to kill Sookie in the bar when she was alone, but we don’t know who. They seem to want us to believe it’s Travis, the war vet who seems to have a bet of a screw loose. I think it will be someone shocking. The detective? Or maybe even Renee? Renee seems too good to be true, so I’m leaning towards him.
Bill meanwhile faced his trial. Normally his punishment would have been 5 years chained in silver and a coffin, but the judge was feeling creative. As Bill had taken a life from them, he wanted a life in exchange. Some poor little teenager was brought out and Bill was ordered to turn her. We learned in nearly 100 years, Bill had not turned anyone. So this was his punishment. He fought it, but in the end turned the girl. I HATED this! It made me so sad to see Bill forced to do this to the girl. There better be some kind of payback at some point for the lead vampire. He’s nasty and cruel and I want to see a stake go through his heart.
Amy learned Jason had basically befriended Eddie, their gay vampire captive, and realized she had to change her tune. She told Jason she thought they should adopt him, make him part of their family. They could travel and see the world with him. Jason really liked this, but Eddie knew she was nuts. Later Jason somewhat began to see it, and that she was calling all the shots. He decided to let Eddie go after Lafayette confronted him about meddling with Eddie, who had gone missing. Lafayette warned him people around Jason were piling up dead, he wouldn’t be next. Jason went to free Eddie, then Amy staked him! Nooooooo! I liked Eddie and didn’t want to see him die. I’d rather have seem him kill Amy to be honest. That girl is nuts.
Tara paid the 800 bucks to the woman to get her exorcism, which seemed to work. She saw herself as a child and had to stab her demon to kill it. Later she and her mom went to the next town over to celebrate by having buckets’o’shrimp. On the way home the mom started not to feel well, Tara stopped in a drugstore to get her some pepto. There she ran into the voodoo woman, who worked at Walgreens basically. She was furious, realizing she was a fraud. The woman admitted to giving her some alcohol with peyote to cause her visions. She said she does help people, she helped her and her mother. Tara was just furious knowing she was a fake. She didn’t tell her mom though and they left. I actually thought her mom was having a heart attack, not indigestion, but she seems to have lived (for now). At the end of the episode Tara got smashed and on the way home foolishly driving, had a wreck. She wrecked because some vampire (I think) woman was standing in the road next to a cow, she swerved to miss them. I was confused, who was the woman? At first I thought it was Amy! Was it the woman Bill turned?
True Blood: Trials and Tribulations

So the latest episode opened where last week left off, with Longshadow attempting to kill Sookie. Bill staked him, causing him to spew blood and explode all over poor Sookie! While he saved her, he killed a vampire, and that got him into trouble. He would have to go with Eric and be put on trial for what he did. Grrrrr! He asked Sam to look after Sookie while he was gone. I have to say, I loved that they had Bill playing golf on his Wii! That was hilarious.
Sam gave Tara 800 dollars to get her demon exorcised from her, but Tara didn’t want to take it. She eventually did. I loved that Sam did this for her. She keeps fighting him and the idea of a relationship, but she’s melting and he’s doing everything he can to not push her to far. So romantic! I also loved when he showed up with flowers and Tara’s mom was yelling he wanted sex. Too funny. I am actually interested to see how Tara’s exorcism goes, and what is so dangerous inside her that it costs 2x her mother’s exorcism. I keep thinking it’s basically the placebo effect, this has all been in their heads. What if it hasn’t? What if we are in for something shocking?
Jason and Amy kidnapped Lafayette’s vampire and chained him up in the basement. I actually am loathing this storyline, mainly because it’s clear that Amy is going to get Jason in a world of trouble. He’s so stuck in his V-induced hippy love fest with her to think straight. It’s obvious Jason is feeling guilty about what they’ve done, but he’s basically screwed himself. If he lets the vampire go, he and Amy could very well be dead. Heck if he doesn’t let him go, they are dead. Eric made it clear to the mortals they knew when a mortal had wronged one of them.
I also get this weird feeling that the vampire could turn Jason. He’s pretty lonely, and clearly he lusts after Jason. There is also this other side to him. He’s missing his son, who his wife took away when he came out of the closet. So he and Jason bonded over the fact that Jason also lost his dad at a young age. He could turn Jason in some weird “need to play daddy” role and make Jason his vampire son. I don’t know, I just think Jason’s in for it.
The show ended finally revealing the truth about Sam. Sookie went to stay at Bill’s, thinking it would be safe for her there and nobody wanting to harm her would dare go looking for her there. “The Dog” followed her home and she invited him in and to sleep on her bed, thinking she’d return him to Sam in the morning. “The Dog” looks just like the one Sam also has. However Sookie woke up in the middle of the night to see a nekkid Sam sleeping at the bottom of her bed! So yes, Sam is a shape-shifter of some kind!

Sookie was convinced Bill was dead as the show opened and went to his grave to place flowers on them. Suddenly Bill came out from the ground, he was as alive as a dead person could be and hid in the ground, where it is safe for vampires. It turned out the three evil vamps and a fang-banger are who turned up dead. The funny part of the whole ground thing was that Bill was sleeping in the dirt butt naked! I thought it was a fantasy when he climbed out naked, especially when he and Sookie started doing it right there. It was no fantasy, and I guess that’s why he had to be naked!
Bill and Sookie babysat for Arlene’s (corrected) kids while she and Rene went on a date, and he proposed to her. Very cute scenes with Bill and the kids, yet Sookie had a dream that she and Bill had breakfast together and he burned up in the morning sun. They are doing a good job basically showing what Sookie will have to give up if she wants a life with Bill, and that’s sad. There is also the problem that she’ll grow old while he won’t.
Eric, the head vamp in the area, made a request of Bill to bring Sookie to Fangtasia. It seemed someone had stolen up to 60K from the club, they suspected humans and wanted Sookie to find the person. She only agreed if they promised to turn that person into the cops, knowing they’d kill them. In the end it turned out the thief was the bartender, a vampire, who lunged at Sookie as the show closed. An amazing ending the way it all played out, totally unexpected.
Jason and his hippie girlfriend Amy continued to date, he convinced her to stick around town. She agreed, but soon began jonesin for some V. They, well she, came up with a plan. They followed Lafayette to the source of his V, a lonely gay vampire stuck in his house watching TV by himself. They kidnapped the guy at the end of the show. Oh this is not going to be good and is going to put a big target on Jason. I see the vamps hunting him down!
Tara’s mom was all better with the demon out of her. She threw away all her devil juice (booze), began going to church again, basically was normal once more. Tara however still had an attitude and anger issues. By the end of the show she went back to the voodoo woman, who was expecting her. Did her mom have a demon, or did she just think she did and need a fake exorcism to help? What will be Tara’s prognosis? Can’t wait!
Finally Sam made excuses for his naked run in the wild. He claimed his dead parents were nudists and every year he honor’s their memory with a run in the buff. However the detective wasn’t buying it, made some calls, and found out the nudist colony Sam claimed his parents lived at . . . well they never heard of Sam or his family.
I think this is my new favorite show on TV, possibly my favorite show right now. I so look forward to tuning in. I’m going to be sad when the season ends. I’ve decided once the season is over I will read the books to tide me over till Season 2, assuming HBO is smart enough to order a Season 2.
True Blood: The Demon Within

In this latest episode of “True Blood,” Bill and Sookie’s love fest continued. We learned as they talked what went on with Uncle Bertram, why he was ostracized. Basically he’s a sick perv, who had thoughts of molesting Sookie as a kid. She told her grandma and she sent him packing
Afterward the love making, Sookie returned home to find Jason stealing their grandma’s things to sell, obviously for V. He was upset to see she had let Bill bite her, calling her a fangbanger. Meanwhile off Bill went to kill Uncle Bertram and dump his body in the swamp. I have to say I was rather shocked that this little back-story was wrapped up so quickly. I thought there would be much more to it. Also I’m kind of not liking that Bill ends up going out to kill everyone that hurts Sookie. I get it’s supposed to be romantic and he’s her undead hero, but it also makes him a killer as well.
Jason went to the Fangtasia Club to try and score some V, not exactly smart. I don’t think most vampires will willingly shed some blood for a mortal, rather they’d shed a mortals blood for themselves. But Jason isn’t exactly bright now is he. There he met some trippy hippie chick that took him home and they did V together and had sex while tripping on it.
The 3 mean nesting vampires were back this week, showing up at Merlots and causing trouble. They wanted to drain Sookie, and Sam started a fight with them. Of course who they were really after was Bill, who showed up sensing Sookie was in danger. They wanted him to join their nest and he agreed, most likely to get them out of Merlots. I also got the feeling he planned to finish the three of them off as well.
Unfortunately for Bill, the next day three guys from Merlot’s got the same idea and torched the house the nest was living in. Sookie showed up only to find four coffins with four bodies were pulled out. Is Bill dead? My guess is no, that someone else will be in the 4th coffin, probably someone shocking. Though from the previews it looks like all that’s left in the coffins is a mess of goop.
Also that following day the detective and a buddy, while out fishing, saw Sam running through the woods butt naked. Hmmmm, yet another clue that he’s a werewolf? There was another clue to that given as well, and if you blinked you missed it. The night before during the encounter at the bar, one of the people made the comment that “tonight was a full moon.”
The final story going on was Tara taking her mother to some voodoo priestess in the swamp to get her demon exorcised. The woman pulled the demon out, put it into an opossum, which she proceeded to drown. She said Tara’s mother’s demon was gone, but Tara had a demon of her own, but not like her mothers. Tara thought the woman was full of it, until she told her “Can you not keep a job? Don’t have many friends? Never had a real boyfriend?” She told Tara to come see her when she was ready for help. I don’t know where this is going. I don’t know if the mother even really had a demon, or if this was just some con-job. With the mother thinking the demon is out of her, maybe she’ll find peace? As for Tara’s demon, well I think hers is simple anger and hate.

The latest “True Blood,” episode dealt with the aftermath of Adelle’s death. Everyone came over to Sookie’s place with the traditional foods. Lafayette had the best lines when he talked about “white people and their damn jello molds” and also saying the food was not cooked with love, so it had bad juju. Tara of course was great when she told everyone to basically get the Efff out, time to go, Sookie needed her rest!
Jason made a scene showing up and slapping Sookie, saying it should have been her that was killed, not Gram. Tara was disgusted, throwing him out saying she didn’t know him anymore. Bill however made a very similar statement to the police, that he didn’t think it was the grandmother who was the target.
At the funeral Sookie lost it as she was speaking. She kept hearing everyone’s voices, they were all saying it was her fault her grandmother was dead. She told them all to “Shut the Eff Up!” I loved it! I love when she throws back at people after hearing their thoughts.
Speaking of people’s thoughts, we were introduced to a new character, Uncle Bertram. He showed up in a wheel chair at the funeral, he was Adelle’s sister. Jason invited him thinking he had a right to be there, Sookie however said he hadn’t been part of their family in years. His thoughts were read and he said something along the lines of “I never meant to hurt you.” There is a back story there that I want to know what it is. Will there be a battle over the will in the future?
Another new supernatural twist was added with Tara’s mother. She showed up at the funeral and was fairly coherent and nice. She told Tara that the reason she drank is because she had a demon in her. She said the demon is the one who has controlled her for so long, said and done all the terrible things. She drank to quiet the demon, but it was time to get it out. She wanted money for an exorcism, but Tara thought she was full of it. However at the end of the show, Tara went to her mother’s side. Very interesting! Is it a lie, or real? Given what the show is dealing with, she could very well have a demon. Of course the bottle could just be the demon too. I am interested in this story, and that they are giving Tara more to do than just be Sookie’s friend.
Jason worked to get off the V, while Tara tried to move on with Sam. Sam, deciding he didn’t want to wait around for Sookie, attempted to do the same with Tara. However Tara got weireded out, stopping them from making love, and running of to help her mom.
The show ended with Sookie finally making love to Bill and allowing him to bite her! OMG! I can’t believe she let him do that. Wow, things are getting hot with this show.

Oh man, this latest episode of “True Blood.” I was afraid it was coming . . .
The episode mostly surrounded Bill appearing to talk to the grandma’s civil war group. He talked about fighting in the war and those he fought with. The mayor had found a photo of Bill and his family in the archives, which brought tears to his eyes . . . of blood! Yup, vampires cry blood it seems. He didn’t want to talk about it, only to say he was unable to return home as his mortal life was ended in the war.
Sam took Sookie to the meeting, as they were both going and she was headed to it alone. They then went for coffee afterwards, where Sam finally began to tell Sookie how he felt about her. She talked about how he was different, she can’t really read him like others. She said instead of images or sentences of thought, she mostly gets waves of emotion with him and funny sounds. Hmmmmm . . . He so is a dog, and not in the way men can be dogs. He is a real shape shifting dog, I’m convinced. Of course I’d equally be as happy if they pulled something else not as predictable.
When Sam moved a little too fast with some kisses, and Sookie brought up she had kissed Bill and just couldn’t move on to kissing him, well that didn’t fly with Sam. He got upset that she even kissed a vampire. It set her off and she stormed off on Sam.
Bill was questioned by the sheriff and that detective about the two murders. Bill let them know that it wasn’t a vampire killing these women, as a fresh corpse full of blood is too much for any vampire to resist. They would have drained all the blood from the women. A very interesting twist! So it’s a human doing the killings it would seem. One with a hatred of vampires and anyone who gets involved with them? Yeah, I’m thinking it’s looking bad for Sam at this point.
Bill remembered how he was turned as a vampire. It was after the south surrendered. He was running to try and avoid capture and get home. He was starving, he stopped at house for food as well as directions. A woman was there, who cooked him a meal and then turned him to be a companion for her. He was forced to say goodbye to his family after seeing them on the front porch, not even knowing he was there. This was heartbreaking. I hope we get to find out more about what happened to his family. We know the last of the Compton’s recently died, that’s why Bill moved back home and into the house again. But could a family member still be out there somewhere? Also what happened to this woman vampire? She’s got to be out there too I’m sure.
Also going on Lafeyette got Jason hooked on V. He showed him how to do it right, how it would open his eyes up to the world. Lafayette also told Jason that Tara loved him. Jason had “seen the light” and realized Tara was the one for him. She knew he was high though when he professed his love and wanted him to come see her when he was sober. However he screwed it up, by screwing some bimbo behind the bar and getting caught by Tara. He was so high he didn’t even care. I would have liked to have seen them try and be a couple too. I think this will ruin any chance of that. Then again, Tara has still loved him threw all his other “screw ups.”
The show ended with Sookie taking a cab home, after storming off on Sam. There, in the kitchen, she found her grandma dead! Noooooooo! I loved her so much, but that’s why I was afraid this would happen. She was the only one who wasn’t in some way screwed up on this show, so she had to die I guess.
