True Blood: Walking Into The Sun

True Blood: Walking Into The Sun

Posted by Dustin on 08.09.2011 at 6:46 pm

Just some really quick thoughts on the latest “True Blood” episode, as I’m currently out of town till Thursday. . . .

I was so glad that Sam and Luna put two and two together and came up with four, not three or something else. I.E. I’m glad they figured out Tommy skinwalked as Sam. Sam kicked his little brother to the curb, and Tommy started hitting himself saying “Stupid stupid!” I’m afraid whatever he does next will indeed be something stupid!

Jesus’ grandfather admitted to him and Lafayette that he did what he did to prove to Lafayette the magic was within him, that he was a medium. I’m not really sure what the point was, why he cares? But later Lafayette did see the ghost lady haunting Arlene and her baby. It would seem that the ghost woman thinks Arlene’s baby is HER baby, which I’m guessing what the writing on the wall “Not Your Baby” was really about. It wasn’t about Renee as they thought.

Alcide and Debbie joined their new pack, but Debbie still remains jealous of Sookie and Alcide’s feelings for her. Zzzzz, do we really have to watch her go nuts again? Why Alcide got back with her I don’t know.

Tara and her girlfriend narrowly escaped Pam, who spent some of this episode trying to have all the rot outside ripped off to slow the decay. Probably the most nasty scene on this whole show to date! Even worse than Russel playing in guts last season. I was sad Tara sent her girlfriend away. She’s just damn unlucky in love!

Marnie, who is now fully possessed by Antonia, escaped and with Tara and Holly’s help put the circle together, but not before sending Luis to try and kill Bill and tell him of her plans to make all vampires meet the sun. Bill instructed everyone to chain themselves with silver before dawn to keep the spell from taking hold.

Near the end, Marnie cast the spell . . . . and the vampires headed for the sun, or tried to. Jessica broke free and made it to the door, as Jason was racing to try and save her . . . . . We know they aren’t going to kill Jessica off, not with this romance they’re hinting at with her and Jason.

Sookie seemed to take a back seat in this episode. All she and Eric did was *bleep* the first half of the episode, and then she tried keeping him in silver the second half. Bleh, Sookie and Eric are actually starting to bore me. Actually I think it’s just Eric. His memory loss has made him not only a goodie two-shoes, but way to accommodating. He’s lost his spunk, his bad boy edge. All he wants to do is please Sookie, make her happy. Boring!

True Blood: Skinwalking!

True Blood: Skinwalking!

Posted by Dustin on 08.01.2011 at 7:30 pm

Last night’s true blood was definitely . . . . interesting. It all took place under the full moon.

Arlene’s insane devil child Mikey and his devil doll apparently set fire to the house, then magically got himself out on the front lawn. His family escaped, which I don’t think was his plan. As Arlene was blaming her psycho ex-boyfriend, we learned Mikey was seeing the spirit of some African American woman, who looked like she was from the slave era. Yup, I think we have a pissed off voodoo spirit in the house! Anything involving Voodoo, I kinda like!

Because of the fire, Sam found himself busy dealing with issues, and asked Tommy to look over the restaurant. Tommy of course “Skinwalked” and shifted into Sam when he put on his shirt. This led to a whole lot of drama at work, and later him having “relations” with Sam’s new girlfriend Luna . . . then dismissing her like some trashy whore. Yeah, I now get why Sam was beating the crap out of Tommy in that ComicCon preview! Tommy, 1 step forward . . . 8 giant steps back. Can we kill him off now?

Debbie joined the new pack, and tried to convince Alcide to do so as well. Zzzzzz. Alcide and that crazy ex-junkie are boring. Let’s get the Alcide and Sookie action started!

Jason confessed almost all to Sookie about Crystal and the werepanthers. Jason was sure he’d be morphing soon, but later Sookie learned from Alcide just being bitten wouldn’t cause someone to become a were, you had to be born of one or both wereparents.

Bill got the OK to kill Eric, but let him go in the end after Eric made this lovely speach about how he understood why Bill would want him dead, and he hoped he and Sookie found happiness because Sookie deserved to be happy. Awwwww . . . just more making “nice” with Bill given his nasty nasty actions as of late. I’m fully on team Alcide-Sookie at this point, Vamps can suck it! (Yes I know how the books play out, this isn’t the books!)

Jesus and Lafayette found themselves at the mercy of Jesus’ grandpa, who made them gather a sacrifice, then poisoned Jesus and made Lafayette save Jesus using his powers to channel the dead . . . . I have to say I’m not liking their story at all this season. When was the last time we heard Lafayette say “hooooookaaaah!”

Marnie, still stuck in jail, channeled Antonia and we learned the back story between her and Luis, who was one of the priests at the church she was burned at. He admitted last week he was away when Antonia forced his brothers and sisters to walk into the light, which is how he was spared. Now however he knows who the real witch force is, but based on how Marnie subdued him at the very end … I don’t know if he’ll be around to warn anyone!

True Blood: Don’t Do That In Front Of The Baby!

True Blood: Don’t Do That In Front Of The Baby!

So on last night’s “True Blood” a lot went down for once. Apparently Alan Ball found the light and actually had Tommy do the first smart thing he’s ever done, he whacked his parents! Sam of course helped dispose of the bodies. Apparently we only get one smart thing in an episode, as Sam really should have fed Tommy to the gators along with his parents.

After nude-o-rama staring Alcide last week, he was back to a blink and you miss it scene this week. He met the new pack leader, who from previews is clearly the father of Sam’s new girlfriend’s kid.

Bill had to glamour his great great great granddaughter Portia in order to get her to stop wanting him. I actually thought her “research” into whether what they were doing was incest was kinda humorous! He’s still her grandpa though :)

Arlene and Terry called up “those people” to help drive the devil and ghost from their home. “Those people” of course were Tara’s mother and her new husband, the reverend she was having the affair with. Yeah, something tells me anything those two do to drive bad energy from a house isn’t going to work. I did find it oddly creepy that at the end of the show they were “doing it” while the demon child and devil doll were feet away in the crib.

Jason, having been saved by Jessica’s blood, is of course dreaming of her. His sex dreams with Hoyt watching and then joining in were pretty funny! From the spoilers though, it looks like Jason and Jessica do end up having some kind of affair. Poor Hoyt!

Sookie went to investigate Marnie, who she asked for a reading. Gran however took over and warned Sookie that the man she was falling for, it was temporary and not to give her heart. Gran also warned Sookie that Marnie was dangerous and to run! Sookie only half listened to Gran though, she avoided Marnie . . . just not Eric!

Bill had Marnie arrested after he saw that she cast a rotting spell on Pam. However Marnie truly doesn’t know how she cast any of the spells she did. We got some back story, from a Spanish Vampire, about the witch Antonia who is possessing Marnie. She hated Vampires and using her magic forced them all to walk into the sun and die. It seems though, that nobody knows Marnie is channeling Antonia. The one vampire just told her story to explain how powerful witches could be.

Lafayette and Jesus went to see Jesus’ grandfather, the black magic practitioner. Nope that isn’t going to end well! Especially since he claimed he’d been expecting them.

At the end of the show Tara learned Sookie was letting Eric stay with her, and was furious. Bill learned the same thing, and he’s equally as pissed!

True Blood: Alcide Gets Nekkid . . . And Other Things

True Blood: Alcide Gets Nekkid . . . And Other Things

I kinda feel like that really was what last night’s episode was all about, an extended naked tease of Alcide. Okay there was more going on, but it was a slow episode that seemed to be setting up stories to come. However I felt like it could have all been done in 5 minutes really.

Sookie is clearly falling for “The New Eric,” which happens in the books. Given what a jerk Bill is being, I guess I don’t have any feelings one way or another about this. I do hate that Alcide is with Debbie again, and I feel they are setting her up to go psycho on Sookie out of jealousy. I DO know what becomes of her in the books :)

I loved seeing Katherine Helmond on the show, what a nice surprise! Bill and Portia though, ewwwww. “Flowers in the Attic” moment with the reveal he’s her great great great granddaddy!

Loved seeing Jason kill Crystal’s brother (Felton?), but she’s still nuts as hell. The beginning scene with him being raped over and over was a little too much for me. I really hope he doesn’t end up with 1000 white trailer park trash kids!

The story with Sam and his new girl, who has a kid whose dad is a werewolf, I get the feeling this is also setting up Alcide’s other story for the season. Awhile ago it was spoiled the new Alpha Wolf would be showing up (I think that was in the previews). My guess is he’s that woman’s ex.

Once again, I couldn’t stand the Tommy story. Am I supposed to feel story that he’s a dumb ass and got conned by his trashy parents again? Because I’m not. Let them keep him!

I loved the story with Terry, Arlene and the Damian like baby. Looks like Arlene wasn’t making the evil up in his head, and now Terry knows it as well. When the baby wrote on the wall, I really expected it to say “Redrum!”

The witches story was fairly small this episode. We now know for sure that Marnie is being possessed by an executed Spanish witch, we just don’t know what she wants except for the fact that she hates the vamps. This week she took on Pam, causing her flesh to rot to match her corpse of a body. She screwed with the wrong girl this time!

True Blood: Good Bye Fairy Godmother!

True Blood: Good Bye Fairy Godmother!

Posted by Dustin on 07.11.2011 at 10:49 am

Just some quick thoughts on last nights show. I want to watch the show again today/tonight to see what I missed (in Virginia right now).

The Jason/Crystal storyline, while I understand is somewhat following the books, irks me. I really hate Crystal right now, and her brother even more. I hope Jason gets revenge on them both! I also hope he doesn’t actually get stuck with “a litter” of kids!

Pam had the best line of the show to Jesus, Lafayette and Tara . . . “I will eat, f*c* and kill all three of you!” They made a deal for their lives to help Pam get the old Eric back, only Marnie could do it . . .

Of course Marnie doesn’t know what she did or how she did it, but she doesn’t seem to want to help the vampires. She’s also being haunted by another witch, or possessed by her, or both.

*Possible Spoiler!* I don’t know how much of this is related to the books, but last summer they put out a 6 part comic. In it Eric told a back story about how he fell in love with some woman who knew who and what he was, and she ended up giving her life to save him and was burned at the stake (or something, it’s been awhile since I read it). It makes me think that is who this woman is.

Seeking help dealing with a horny from fairy smell Eric, Sookie went to see Alcide, only to learn he’s back with Debbie Pelt. WHAT! I’m so disappointed in him! Debbie is supposedly off the V and back to her old self. Yeah right! She needs to meet Tommy, they belong together.

Tommy was up to his old tricks, trying to swindle Maxine out of her house. I loath his character. I just don’t see why he has to be on the show!

There was some more issues with Arlene’s baby, and Terry giving him and old creepy doll to play with. (This is a lot of what I missed).

The end of the show had Claudine coming to try and persuade Sookie to return with her to Fairyland. Yeah right, as if Sookie would go back there after all that happened! Eric then pounced her and drained her until she turned into one of the ugly fairies and then exploded! Sookie exclaimed “You killed my fairy godmother!” 2nd best line of the show!

True Blood: The Waiting Is Over! Season 4 Premier (+ Episode 2 Spoilers)

True Blood: The Waiting Is Over! Season 4 Premier (+ Episode 2 Spoilers)

Posted by Dustin on 06.27.2011 at 10:58 am

So last night was finally the season 4 premier of “True Blood.” I thought the premier was a tad dull, and it introduced a lot of new storylines (thanks to the time jump) that weren’t all that well explained. Fortunately episode 2, does some of that.

I’ll post my thoughts on episode 1 first. Then episode 2 below . . . so if you don’t have HBO Go to watch it and don’t want to be spoiled, stay away from that section!

At the beginning of Episode 1 we find Sookie’s long lost grandpa trapped in Fairyland with the other half-human’s half faeries. He thought he’d only been gone a few hours, it turns out it’s been 20 years! Of course we learn it’s all a trap, and they’ve been harvesting human’s and planning to seal off their realm from the human one. Sookie and her grandpa escaped, but tragically he ends up dying when they return home. What what what! I can’t believe they cast Gary Cole in a role that lasted but a few minutes. That’s nuts! I’m going to guess though that we’ll hopefully see more of him, and the faeries as well.

When Sookie returned home, we had lost a little over a year, and so much had changed. Eric bought her house secretly, basically so he could get to her anytime he wanted . . . no invitation needed! Tara had left town, become a lesbian cage fighter, and was now calling herself “Tony.” Jesus and Lafayette were getting involved with a witches coven, lead by the mysterious (and apparently dim witted) witch Marnie, who somehow had great powers – like bringing the dead back to life. Tommy was living with Hoyt’s mamma and had found Jesus, while Hoyt and Jessica’s happy life was anything but, they bicker a lot. Sam goes to meetings with other shifters and found himself a new possible girlfriend named Luna. Jason has been taking care of Crystal’s inbred family, while she’s gone missing. At the end of the show they kidnapped him. Andy has become a V addict, and his sister has come to town. Arlene is afraid her baby Mikey is evil. Finally Bill has become King of Louisiana!

I think that sums up just about everything in the premier. My thoughts on all of that? Well first, were is the Wolf! I hope Alcide gets a lot more airtime, he was supposed to be made a full cast member this season from what I recall.

The Tara storyline . . . . eh. I mean given all the issues she’s had with men, I can see why she might turn to the ladies for a bit of comfort. But I hope we get a bit more explanation. Is she bi? Is she really a lesbian who was just in denial? She’s still lying to her new friends and woman, claiming she’s Tony from Atlanta.

They’ve really made Bill become a total jerk. Though I understand this stays true to the books, where he in fact isn’t a nice guy. Episode 2 however . . . . more in a bit!

The storyline with the witches? I started to get the feeling that they, or at least Marnie, needed Lafayette and his powers to really use hers. It was almost like “The Craft” in a way.

I know the premier had a lot to introduce us to, because of the time jump and all, but it just seemed a bit of a let down. Fortunately Episode 2 delivers!

STOP READING NOW IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN SPOILER FREE!

Episode 2 is available via HBOGo. I watched it last night and loved it . . . . though still no Alcide! Anyway, here is some of the highlights and my thoughts.

We learn a bit about Bill’s back ground, how the American Vampire League head woman Nan found him in the U.K. in the 80s, how she admired that he drank humans, but didn’t kill them (we see him glamour one into forgetting him). She recruited him back then to infiltrate and help her take down the royalty. So really SHE seems to be the head vampire, or trying to position herself as one.

Bill, backed by the AVL, challenged Queen Sofie Anne and she was killed by troops armed with wooden and silver bullets. Nan made him the King of Louisiana. Bill, however, lies to her about Sookie . . . claiming Sofie Anne was obsessed with her and just wanted her as her toy . . . he tells her nothing about her Faerie blood. I felt that they were trying, in part, to redeem Bill . . . but who knows, he could just want to keep Sookie to himself!

Jason learned Crystal and her brother kidnapped Jason. He is hooked on V, and has Crystal back on it too. They’ve become junkies who want to have a kid, but the brother is shooting blanks. They turn Jason in order to use him to get a baby. Wonderful! Though again, from my understanding, it’s similar to the books and Crystal does turn out to be a horrid woman in the books.

Sam and Tommy take some steps to get back to being brothers in this episode. I just sat there thinking . . . . why? Why does Tommy have to be on the show? I hated him last season, I don’t like him this season. I think he’s pointless.

Arlene remains convinced that her baby is evil and doing horrible things. It doesn’t help when Sookie calls him an old soul.

The witches storyline was actually my favorite in this episode. Bill sets Eric out to investigate them, saying they are necromancers . . . they brought a dead bird back to life, which means . . . Eric comments he was around during the Inquisition, he knows what it means. Tara returned home to see Sookie, and Jesus and Lafayette took her with them to the witches circle. When Marnie announces they will bring a corpse back to life this week, both Lafayette and Tara freak, as do some of the others in the circle. Unfortunately this is when Eric comes in. Marnie, clearly getting her power from a long dead witch, begins chanting. Eric sees her true form, and is paralyzed. He clearly knows her, and my guess is she is from the inquisition.

The show ends with Sookie driving along and finding Eric walking along side the road, he has no memory! Which I’ve been told is what the forth book deals with . . . .

The second episode was sooooooo much better. Sneak a peak if you can!

True Blood Season 4 Sneak Peak!

True Blood Season 4 Sneak Peak!

Posted by Dustin on 06.13.2011 at 6:41 pm

If you have HBO Go (on your PC/Mac or Mobile Device) you can watch the first 8 minutes of the new “True Blood” season premier. You can also find some lesser quality versions on youtube as well. If you want to know what goes down . . . . . read on!

Sookie finds herself brought to the fairy kingdom by her fairy god mother. Everyone is eating “light fruits” and basically have a grand old time. Sookie runs into Barry the Bellboy there, and then she sees a familiar face . . . her grandfather! Gary Cole plays Sookie’s grandpa, who is still fairly young. He’s been gone for 20 years, apparently in a daze with many of the others in fairy land thanks to the fruits.

We soon meet Mab, queen of the fairies. It turns out she’s lured everyone there with plans to destroy the human world somehow. There are other fairies who are against Mab, and help Sookie and her grandfather to escape. At the end of the clip they have to jump into some canyon, which is a portal back to earth.
