The Fosters, Mistresses And More!
Posted by Dustin on 06.13.2013 at 7:45 pm
So this is another general Summer TV post. I’m soon going to split these up, and start including spoilers for the shows. I’m just still trying to get my feet wet with all of them.
First off, I pretty much gave up on “The Have and The Have Nots.” I completely forgot to watch this week’s episode, and I could barely pay attention to last weeks. Maybe I’ll attempt an on-demand marathon at some point, but right now I think that show just stinks.
I’m loving “The Fosters” on ABC Family. Sure it’s predictable and quirky at this point, but there is something about it that has pulled me in. I still am trying to learn their names, but piano-boy’s (Brian?) girlfriend is gunna do something bad to Foster girl at some point out of jealousy. I also wonder if the cop-wife will end up cheating on her wife with her ex-husband/new partner. That’s out of the “Queer as Folk” playbook mind you.
I’m also enjoying “Mistresses,” as cheesy as it is. I feel like the previews at the end of each episode are giving away WAY too much info though. I feel like I know what is going to happen for half of the season! Given it’s a summer show, I don’t expect ABC to pull it if the ratings are bad (which it seems they are). They probably just won’t renew it.
Finally I watched ABC Family’s new show “Twisted” and loved it! I hope it doesn’t become another “9 Lives of Chloe King” though and last for one season. Though after his mystery is solved as to why he killed his Aunt, what is left? That does have me a bit worried. I also worry it will just turn into a “Pretty Little Liars” clone.
That’s about it for now. I also plan to try and watch the first couple of seasons on “Scandal” over the summer since everyone seems to love that show.

So it looks to be a sizzling soapy summer. I’ve been tuning into some of the new nighttime dramas on a few networks. Some sizzle, some don’t. Time will tell what will happen with them.
“The Have and Have Nots” is a new soap from Tyler Perry on the OWN network. This one debuted last week. Tonight will be the second episode. I don’t know about this one. I couldn’t figure out if it was supposed to be camptastic on purpose, or if it was just downright cheesy bad. The show is almost a direct clone of “Passions” in a way, just without the magic. There are the rich families with their scandals and the poor ones, who work as the maids and housekeepers for the rich people. In fact, Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald is in it . . . and she’s a maid. Shocker!
“The Fosters” premiered on ABC Family last night, and this show I really liked. Granted I only watched it because a certain group is against it and trying to get it taken off the air cause it’s about a lesbian couple raising a family of kids and they take in two new troubled fosters. However it was a really good show, and I like a lot of the cast. It did have a lot of predictable soapy moments, but it was well made and kept me entertained and watching the whole hour . . . something the “Have Nots” really didn’t do.
Finally “Mistresses” aired on ABC. This is a remake of a hit BBC show. I never saw the BBC one to compare this too. I basically watched it because of Alyssa Milano. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great, it was your standard nighttime soap. It’s about four women who end up either being mistresses, or finding out their husband had a mistress. Actually in one case I think the guy is actually the mistress . . . not sure what you’d call him?
Vacation Time of the Year!
Posted by Dustin on 01.07.2013 at 9:01 am
So it’s that the of the year again, my annual January vacation. We went away a week earlier than normal, and wouldn’t you know it the shows still started back this week!
I have unlimited Internet on the boat (can’t believe it took this long for them to offer that), so during down time and when I’m waiting for other to wake up (like right now) I will watch what I can on Hulu and other apps. Attempting to do last nights “Once” now, but the quality isn’t that great and it’s a lot of buffering.
I’ll post as often as I can, and any really important news. I think I have this weeks spoilers covered. Many shows still don’t return until late in the month, some like “Smash” and “Grimm” aren’t back until February and March.
PS sorry about this post showing up 10 times. The WordPress app on my phone kept saying “failed to publish.” Oops!

I got home last night and have already started playing catch up! So far I’ve watched . . .
Castle
Once Upon A Time
Desperate Housewives
Pretty Little Liars
Grey’s Anatomy
Private Practice
Parenthood
Still to catch up on . . . .
Revenge
Grimm
The Secret Circle
Body of Proof
Hawaii 5-0
Fringe
Face-Off on SyFy
Shameless on Showtime
The ABC comedies I watch but never blog about (Modern Family, Subutgatory, Happy Endings)
I also go back to work this week, so getting that in order is my first priority (watching shows as I prepare). So I have not yet figured out how to handle the shows I’ve missed, as some already start tonight. I will probably just pick up with comments on the new shows beginning tonight, and add in anything important from last week’s show I may have wanted to comment on.

Vacation Time Of The Year! Plus Glee News!
Posted by Dustin on 01.07.2012 at 10:36 am
It’s that time of year for me again, when I go on my week long vacation, which always seems to coincide with the return of shows from hiatus. I’m really peeved I’m going to miss “Once Upon A Time” more than anything else! I don’t expect to have access to the current shows, but I’ll be checking in and passing on any news or info over the week.
Of note, “Glee” returns the 17th with the big proposal episode. The week after, the 24th, will be the Michael Jackson tribute episode. The cast was just tweeting the past few days that Ricky Martin is on set filming his guest stint as a Spanish Teacher. I’m still not sure how this fits in? Perhaps he fills in for Shue, who may be on his honeymoon?
Pretty Little Liars: It’s Been Awhile!
Posted by Dustin on 03.08.2011 at 6:27 pm
I keep meaning to make posts on the show, but get busy, and now I see it’s been a month since I posted. Oh no! So here is a post discussing the show, and my various thoughts on some of the major stories.
So from the moment Paige came on the screen with her attitude towards Emily I knew, she had the hots for her. And indeed she does, and Emily is helping her come to terms with being gay. She’s at least a lot more likable than Maya, who was incredibly pushy . . . . but I’d still like resolution to what happened to Maya. Was she sent to Jesus Reformation Camp for being gay and not a drug camp?
I kinda enjoyed Hanna and Caleb together, but honestly I much more liked her with the geeky guy who had the crush on her. I thought they were going somewhere. Caleb of course turned out to be hired by Jenna to spy on Hannah. Uh oh! The slap Hannah gave Jenna was great, and long overdue! As for Spencer . . . . you dumb ass! Not to advocating kicking a blind person and taking advantage of them, but Jenna is a schemer . . . . she should have stolen that flash drive and RAN!
Spencer and Jenna’s brother Toby hooking up, I NEVER saw that one coming, but I liked it! Spencer becoming the prime suspect in Alison’s murder, and somehow Ian coming off clean as a whistle just pissed me off. I think at this point it’s time to be honest with the cops. Tell them about -A. Show them the text messages. Enough is enough, don’t send yourself to jail over protecting this blackmailing SOB.
Finally Aria’s mom and dad are finding their way back together, but it seems Aria’s romance with Teacher is on the verge of being discovered by them. Uh Oh! That’s long overdue and the shiznit is gunna hit the fan.
So who do I think -A is? Hell if I know at this point. I thought it was Melissa for so long, but now Jenna is looking all sorts of suspecious again. So that means it has to be neither of them but someone else. There is still the possibility that -A is not the killer, only knows who the real killer is.

So if you visited today, I clearly had some problems. All my blogs got hacked across my server. I have been trying to take precautions to keep it from happening again.
If you run into any errors on the blog, or you get a forbidden or denied error, please email me! I’ll do my best to get it fixed.
Oh and yeah, I did not really pay attention to Sunday night’s TV unfortunately. So I’ll be reviewing “Housewives” and “B&S” again when I can actually pay attention!

Grey’s and Off The Map Thoughts, Grey’s Spoiler Bits!
Posted by Dustin on 01.21.2011 at 2:12 pm
So I really loved the last two episodes of “Grey’s.” The race for Chief Resident and them all being graded I thought was hilarious. Okay not so funny that Alex is in the lead, but I guess he really was the only one who taught (in and out of the bedroom).
The twist that Callie is pregnant with Mark’s kid was not so shocking. I just don’t know what it’s going to do to Mark and Lexie and Callie and Arizona’s relationships. I did love that Callie didn’t just forgive Arizona so easily. “Get your crap out of my house!” Loved it!
I love love love the Teddy story with her patient. Loved that everyone in the hospital but the Chief was basically on her side. I just have a bad feeling they are going to kill her husband off
The new in love Bailey is so much fun too.
I feel so bad for Meredith and Derek, who can’t get pregnant. With Callie pregnant it’s gunna be even more difficult for her I bet, and I have a feeling someone else is going to end up preggers soon as well . . . .
As for “Off The Map,” I liked the different medical stories that can be done, and there was a lot of excitement there . . . . However the characters either told us their whole stories in episode one, or are cookie cutter “Grey’s” characters. The plastics guy is Alex, the cold Blonde is Yang, then there is the Addison, Derek Meredith triangle with the other three. Yawn!
“Grey’s” Spoiler Bits!
Kevin McKidd talked to TV Guide and revealed Christina and Owen face a life decision that man other people in the hospital are going through, and they both have very different opinions about it. A baby?
Kristin reports that Loretta Divine (Adele Webber) will return at some point this season as a patient! Uh oh!

So I am home from vacation. Believe it or not, I’m also almost caught up on all the shows I missed. Some shows still aren’t back (Glee, 90210) so that made it easy, and others (Idol) aren’t back yet. Though I am not sure how much I’ll actually bother with Idol, as it’s just not going to be the same. That plus last season was such a train wreck.
The only show I can’t find online or on demand (and I didn’t Tivo), is last week’s “V.” I’m pretty miffed about that, why ABC doesn’t have it online anywhere I don’t understand. I guess I’ll have to read the recap unless it magically goes up somewhere (but the season premier isn’t up either so I’m not holding my breath). I also want to give “The Cape” and “Off the Map” a try. Did anyone? What were your thoughts on them?

Just in case you didn’t see on the sidebar, I am on vacation this week so my TV watching is all but non-existent. I will catch up quickly though! I’ll also pass on/retweet any news.
ABC has renewed several shows all ready, including Greys, Private Practice, Modern Family, Cougar Town and Castle! So happy about Castle!
