Grey’s: No Wire Hangers In The OR!

Grey’s: No Wire Hangers In The OR!

Posted by Dustin on 02.21.2009 at 5:16 pm

So the latest episode of “Grey’s” I thought was really really good. So much went on!

First up, Yang had serious issues with one of the resident heart surgeons who she felt was at retirement age because of her mistakes. She was played by none other than Faye Dunaway, who totally channeled “Mommy Dearest” in the OR when she yelled at Yang to “Get out of my OR NOW!” Yang of course was right, and in the end she decided to retire. However Owen made her realize she was somewhat of a bully to the woman in the way she confronted her and went to The Chief, rather than having a nice talk with her. He told her in 40 years that could be here and he might have to be talking to her about retiring. She of course said he’d have to pry the scalpel from her cold dead hands! He said she missed the point, he wanted to be around in 40 years. Awww so cute! I absolutely loved this story this week, it was probably my favorite of the bunch.

Izzie realized a mistake had been made with her blood sample and another patient. The patient returned saying Izzie told her she might have some form of cancer, well $80K in tests later all she had was anemia. Izzie checked the records for that day, she was the blood sample marked anemic. Oops! Izzie found some thing growing on her back, which she had biopsied. Of COURSE we don’t know what the results were. A woman came to her at the end of the show with them, but we didn’t hear them.

Izzie was having issues with her students, who she thought were stupid and never going to be able to be doctors. She ranted to Baily, who told her she thought the same thing about her group and look at them now. The show ended with Izzie apologizing to her interns for how she’d been treating them and presented them with a case . . . which was in fact her. We’ll find out when “Grey’s” returns what’s going on with Izzie. I’ve made this the new poll, whether you think the show really will kill off Izzie. I’m kinda thinking at this point, they might kill her off for real.

Derek and Addison continued to face off over the woman who’s aneurysm Derek believes he nicked. In the end, the woman died and the premie was delivered and seems to be stable. Derek had to give the news to the husband, who lashed out at Derek and called him a murderer.

Meanwhile when Mark finally told Derek about him and Lexie, Derek took his anger out on poor Mark and they got into a huge fight! I hope their friendship can be repaired, but I think we might end up seeing Derek go to a dark place because of what happened. I can’t help but wonder how all this will affect him and Meredith and his decision to propose. Meredith has always been the dark one whereas Derek was always the optimist. I wonder if he will forgo proposing and she’ll find the ring and start questioning her friends.

Baily sought letters of recommendation for her new fellowship in pediatrics. She also had a new softer hairdo, I guess to prove she could be a children person or something? As predicted, The Chief wasn’t happy. He gave her a form letter which infuriated her. He lashed out saying he had put time into her, he groomed her to be the next him. However she lashed back saying she wasn’t his child, she had dreams and hopes of her own. In the end Addison gave her a letter of recommendation to use in place of The Chief’s crappy one. I knew this was going to happen, I knew he wouldn’t like this!

Finally Callie got the courage up to ask Arizona out on a date. However when Arizona found out that Erica was Callie’s first, she called her a newborn and said no! She said Callie was still in the experimenting stage, trying things out. That was too much for her. Callie stewed and confronted her later at the bar, saying she may not have much lesbian experience, but she had life experience. She rattled off a long list, only to find out Arizona was on a date. Oops!

I have to say, as much as I liked Callie and Hahn, I LOVE Callie and Arizona! There is something cute, bubbly and funny about the two of them together. I am looking forward to more of the two of them. This could be more of a real romance as opposed to Callie and Erica, which was kind of an experiment.

Ugly Betty: New Loves

Ugly Betty: New Loves

Posted by Dustin on 02.20.2009 at 9:20 pm

This week on “Ugly Betty” Ignacio and his nurse (Illiana?) continued with their relationship, no longer hiding it from the kids who had found out the week prior. Hilda had major issues with her dad dating, but the rest of the family had accepted it. By the end of the show she and Illiana were friends again. I have to say I really like that they’ve given Ignacio a love interest. It’s about time he did something other than cook and clean for the family. I hope they keep this story going.

Betty got paired up with Matt at YETI, he was from a sports magazine. They had to shadow each other and see what they could learn from each other. She was hoping to get someone from the New York Times and spent most of the show poo-poo’ing Matt’s magazine and not interested in the assignment. He eventually told her off and rightly so. Of course when she finally realized how ugly she was being, she went to see Matt’s magazine and shocker . . . learned something that helped her out.

It was Fashion Week at Mode, and Betty got assigned to run an entire show for a new designer called Heinrick. It was an accident, she and Christina were making fun of a dress he made and made up a fake press release for laughs, which Matt accidentally gave to Daniel to publish. As it turned out, it generated more PR than they could dream and Heinrick wanted Betty to stage his show. The problem was that Heinrich’s outfits were . . . a little outrageous. He would make some of the more outrageous “Project Runway” outfits look tame. His dresses had huge angle wings made of shards of glass! Betty was lost as to how to connect o him or his work, until a trip to Matt’s magazine and a talk with him helped her.

Betty not only made the show a success, by connecting with Heinrich’s past and understanding his perspective, but she realized she did in fact belong at “Mode.” It took her three years to realize that fashion was art, and that was her connection to the magazine.

I kinda liked the way they had Betty finally realize she did belong at Mode. For so long she’s been trying to escape because she didn’t fit in, but now she’s found the way she does fit in. I also love love love Matt! I hope they finally make a relationship for poor Betty work with him. It’s time she found a good guy she can be happy with. When the show goes on hiatus I am going to miss it now because of Betty and Matt!

Also going on . . . Christina finally gave birth, at the end of Heinrich’s show no less AND on the runway. It was a fitting end to his show that was inspired by pain and escape. Meanwhile Molly ended up at the doctor’s office sick and was not telling Daniel the truth. She left Fashion Week early and claimed she just had some issues to settle with her condo or something. It’s been rumored they would be killing Molly off . . . No no no! Like Betty, Daniel finally has someone to be really happy with. I like Molly and want her to stay.

Tara’s Fourth Alter!

Tara’s Fourth Alter!

Posted by Dustin on 02.19.2009 at 7:55 pm

I’m still watching “The United States of Tara” on Showtime and loving this show! It’s hard to describe what’s been going on though, as it’s a cable show and there is a lot of adult situations.

Tara’s son is gay and in love with a fundamental Christian pastor’s kid and has basically been volunteering to help the church with a “hell house” in order to get close to the kid. This is a church version of a haunted house, except you see sinners burning in hell. Well after throwing a kick ass party he had all his hopes dashed as he found out the guy was a brainless idiot who just sat around playing a guitar while girls sighed. I don’t know, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of this story.

Tara got her sister Charmaine fired form her Vitacel job (selling vitamins in some Mary Kay like organization) because Tara had an alter come out and write . . . um basically curse words all over the wall of her boss’ apartment. Tara got a job painting a mural for the woman (she’s a decorator and an artist) and one of the alters screwed things up. Well that’s what she beleives, but as of yet we don’t know which alter did it, and most are denying they did it.

This brings us to some news! Kristin at E! has reported that this Sunday Tara gets a fourth alter. Is this one responsible for the mural defacing? Maybe! I’ve seen the episode, so if you want some spoilers . . . read on!

Desperate Housewives Plans Lesbian Kiss

Desperate Housewives Plans Lesbian Kiss

Posted by Dustin on 02.19.2009 at 7:20 pm

Apparently the producers of “Desperate Housewives” think the show needs some spicing up, and what better way than with some controversy?

Numerous websites, all citing Celebbuzz.com are saying that an insider hinted to the website that Eva Longoria and Teri Hatcher’s characters of Gabby and Susan would be sharing a kiss soon.

Huh?

I’m not getting it at all, but my guess is it will clearly be humorous and clearly involve distracting or titillating some man.

American Idol: The First Three!

American Idol: The First Three!

Posted by Dustin on 02.18.2009 at 10:02 pm

Danny, Michael and Alexis are the first three put into the final twelve. Drama Queen Tatiana did NOT make it, but I have a feeling she will be in the Wild Card Show.

As of yet we still don’t know if the Wild Card Show contestants are based on votes or the judges choice.

I figured Michael (the oil rig worker) would go through. I stand by my statement that he shouldn’t have, others like Anoop were better than him. I think he has a likability factor and a lot of America can associate with him, especially in these economic times.

American Idol Thoughts

American Idol Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 02.17.2009 at 10:57 pm

“American Idol” is doing things differently this time. Over the next three weeks the 36 contestants are divided into three groups of twelve. Each week the top male and female will be put through, along with the person with the next highest votes (of the remaining ten).

After three weeks that will give us nine contestants. Then the rest will compete in a wild card show to bring in the final three for the twelve contestants. It was not explained how who would compete in the wild card show would be decided. They clearly can’t have everyone back, it’s too many (27 in one week?). My guess it will be a votes ranking thing.

Tonight the first twelve sang. I think the first ones out the gate were some of the best.

I thought Ricky did amazing, he was the guy from North Carolina and the first guy to sing I believe. Anoop did great as well. The final guy Danny was amazing as well. I think he might be Ricky’s biggest competition. It will probably be down to these two guys for the guy’s spot.

The girls, not so impressed! Alexis, the one with the blond hair and the pink whisps was amazing. If she isn’t the female picked to go through then we will be off to a bad start already. Shockingly, whiny drama queen Tatiana was better than most of the other girls!

The oil rig guy I think will get voted through as the third one simply for the “likability” factor honestly. Should he be? No others were better, but I think it might happen.

Who did you like, who do you think will make it?

Heroes: Capturing HRG

Heroes: Capturing HRG

Posted by Dustin on 02.17.2009 at 9:02 pm

This past week’s episode of “Heroes” I feel got a bit off track. Where did it go off track? Sadly with Ando and Hiro of course. Hiro was in search of his destiny as foretold by Matt’s drawing. This lead him and Ando to some Indian woman, who was going to be married to a man she didn’t love or want to marry. It was an arranged marriage, she was doing it for her father. Basically through comical misunderstandings and kidnappings, they saved the day and the girl. In the end they were presented with another mission, another part of Hiro’s destiny according to him.

This story did not interest me in the least honestly. I even was zoning out during it. What I liked about the previous two episodes was the heroes working together, as well as the fact we only had a few stories going on. Now we have Hiro and Ando off on their own and multiple threads going on. I am just hoping this destiny Hiro is pursuing does link him back in with the others and the overall story somehow.

Nathan was holding Tracy captive in a room full of heaters to contain her powers. He was trying to get funding for the capture of the “fugitives,” but some government woman found out about Nathan holding “prisoners” and was appalled. She also knew Tracy, and when Nathan explained the whole powers thing, she thought he was nuts. Nathan orchestrated it so Tracy could get free long enough to freeze and kill someone, which convinced the woman to give Nathan all the money he needed. Tracy was pissed and offered a veiled threat to Nathan, that next time she would escape and he better watch it. Personally, I hope she grabs him in the balls and puts him on ice ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t believe how much I’ve come to loath Nathan, who was once my favorite on the show.

The Hunter was becoming more and more suspicious of Nathan as well as HRG. He was sensing Claire was being protected by both of them for some reason. Nathan even told him she was to be left out of his round-ups. It’s only a matter of time before the Hunter stops taking orders and goes out on his own. If Tracy hasn’t taken care of Nathan by then, I hope the Hunter rounds him up!

Rebel lead Claire to a guy working at a comic book store that was to be rounded up. She arrived right before her father showed up with men to take him. His power was basically like Aquaman’s, he could breath underwater. Please, that is no threat to humanity! Plus everyone knows that Aquaman was pretty much the lamest of the Superheroes ๐Ÿ™‚ I mean all he could do was swim underwater and talk to dolphins.

Claire later told her mom what her dad had been up too. I was half expecting the mom to already know, but she didn’t. She was sickened and kicked HRG/Noah out! Woo hoo! At the end, HRG was captured in a bar by Parkman, Peter and Surresh, who didn’t appear much at all but for that final scene.

Meanwhile Sylar and his sidekick (when the hell we gunna learn they are brothers?) continued their journey to find Sylar’s father. Along the way Sylar was teaching him how to best use his powers, when to use them, when not to. It was very Emperor Palpatine and Anakin Skywalker-ish in a way. After a battle with agents Luke (yet another Star Wars irony) told Sylar where to find his dad . . . and Sylar ditched him! Luke was captured by the agents, but at the very end Sylar rescued him from them. Awwww . . . brotherly love ๐Ÿ™‚

Brothers and Sisters: Ryan’s Hope

Brothers and Sisters: Ryan’s Hope

Posted by Dustin on 02.16.2009 at 7:46 pm

In the latest episode of “Brothers and Sisters” Nora went to Bakersfield to finally meet Ryan. Ryan’s father told him the truth, Ryan was hoping for answers from Nora. Ryan had clearly gone through hell as his mother died then found out his dad wasn’t his biological dad. He needed help, guidance, understanding. He reached out to Nora, only to basically have his hopes dashed. What he learned was that William was basically a jerk. He had hoped there was some reason William did what he did, only to learn his mom was one of many affairs William had had. Nora wanted Ryan to come home with her to meet his siblings, even buying him a plane ticket. At first he refused, but the episode ended with Ryan calling Nora as she was about to leave to the airport.

What did we think about Ryan? Do we love him? Hate him? He’s no Rebecca that is for sure. I think I need to see how he plays with his sibling before making my mind up about him.

Rebecca meanwhile went to New York to see David. She was doing some soul searching over what she found out about Tommy, yet at the same time running away from her issues with Justin. She just up and left without telling Justin or her mom what was up. She was hoping to make a connection with David, only to decide he was a bit of a jerk. He had some choice words for her as well. The two made up and David decided to return to California with Rebecca. Oh boy, a Holly and David reunion. I hope he gives her hell for something, anything ๐Ÿ™‚

Holly meanwhile became suspicious of Tommy when she found papers in Rebecca’s desk (that she took from Tommy). She looked into the contract and asked Saul for advice. Saul tried to ease her mind, but one look at the contract and he knew what Tommy had done. He confronted Tommy, who admitted to what he did. Holly meanwhile went to a company board member who looked into it and found it suspect. They told Holly what was up, Tommy was making a move to force her out, and they wanted to look into this.

Basically from what I understand, Tommy has used company money to set up a corporation of his own. That was the front for the purchase of the orchard lands. The purchase price was shares in Ojai rather than money, equal parts of Holly’s and Tommy’s. Tommy however paid the man in cash, the shares went to this corporate front, which Tommy formed. Therefore all the shares go to Tommy, who would then have controlling shares in the company and could force Holly out. It sounds like fraud with a bit of embezzling thrown in. Tommy’s in trouble!

*Spoiler Talk!* Skip the next paragraph if you wanna avoid spoilers!

From what I have read, by the end of the season Holly is fuming when another Walker takes over Tommy’s share and control of half of the country. Who will it be? Sarah I doubt would come back. Kevin, doubtful either. My bet is on either Kitty or . . . wait for it . . . Nora! Would that be something as you know it would steam Holly.

Kitty meanwhile continued her book tours and interviews, while at the same time having issues with Robert over running for Governor and his lack of enthusiasm about telling her. She felt it said something about their marriage and the state of it. Well said! I loved that Kitty gave Robert hell. Meanwhile Robert was irked by comments Kitty made about their relationship and his run during her tour. He’s already gotten in hot water once politically when it was rumored he cheated on his first wife, he couldn’t have his second marriage painted badly. Robert ended up having some article Kitty did an interview nixed . . . and let Kevin be the bad guy and tell Kitty! Damn, I am really not liking what they’ve done to Robert. I’ve always had issues with him, he’s always been more about himself than his marriage, Kitty or her family actually. But they are really taking him over to the darkside now.

March Sweeps!

March Sweeps!

Posted by Dustin on 02.16.2009 at 7:43 pm

Okay this is starting to finally make sense! It seems this year February Sweeps have been bumped to March. So this is the reason for the lack of excitement on many episodes, as well as so many repeats. The reason for the move? They expected the transfer to the digital TV signal to happen and possibly wreak havoc with ratings because people were unprepared.

Of course the digital move has now been moved to June of this year as too many people were not prepared. Personally, we’ve known about this for 2 years and bombarded with commercials for it. How can people not be ready?
