Catching Up With Those Pretty Little Liars! Kate’s Gotta Secret!

Catching Up With Those Pretty Little Liars! Kate’s Gotta Secret!

Posted by Dustin on 01.31.2012 at 10:39 pm

So let’s talk about the latest episode of “Pretty Little Liars” . . . .

Caleb, unbeknownst to Hannah, was helping the others try and spy on -A and crack their phone. He made progress, but Hannah learned and was upset. She was trying to protect him and keep him out of -A’s attacks. However he found a major clue, a photo of a fake ID Alison had with brunette hair. Hannah recalled seeing her at a hair dressing salon pretending to be someone else. When they googled the name Alison was using, it lead them to the infamous book “Lolita.” Hannah seemingly had no idea what that book was about, but knew Alison had a copy, and swiped it. The book is of course about a young teenager dating a much much older man . . . . A clue? I think so! Well the show didn’t go there yet, but in the book was a claim card that Spenser looked into . . .

Kate’s new step-sister moved to town and joined the school. Hannah tried to remain civil with her step, but Spencer just knew she knew Kate from somewhere. It took a long time, but she finally remembered. Kate was at camp with Melissa years ago, and she heard stories and even had a photo of the camp group . . . Kate freaked, what did Spencer want to keep quiet? She just wanted her to be nice to Spencer . . . or everyone would find out how ugly she really is. Was that literal or figurative? I’m going with literal given Spencer mentioned she had a photo . . . Did Kate go through insane plastic surgery perhaps? When she was first introduced (at least in the books) Hannah’s dad always noted how beautiful she was . . . and it made Hannah feel ugly and fat (which lead to her bulimia in the books).

-A meanwhile sent out a photo of naked Kate to Hannah’s friends via her phone . . . uh oh! Yeah I’m guessing this has to do with some previews for next week with Hannah in the principal’s office!

Emily’s mom returned, and learned she was dating Maya again. Tension! Emily meanwhile had her own issues after Maya dropped the bomb last week she had been dating a boy. Emily said it bothered her that Maya was dating someone else period, and that she loved her! Maya said the same . . . but something tells me this isn’t going to end well for Emily. Honestly, I’ve always been suspicious . . . could Maya be -A? Maya did live in Alison’s house after all. If she’s not -A, I suspect she’s helping them.

Aria and Ezra made up, and Holden figured out the truth. He agreed to be her fake date cover with her parents, but it seems that Aria and Holden began to perhaps like one another? . . . . complicated! Holden meanwhile had some mysterious bruises. Is he being beaten, and by who? His parents . . . or someone else? Is he working for -A?

Fitz meanwhile learned that he was up for a promotion, a Deans position, but it meant a transfer to Louisiana! Okay we are going to just ignore the fact that most Deans have advanced graduate degrees that I don’t think Ezra has one given his young age (which in the books it seemed he had just taken the job straight out of school). Let’s ignore how he even got a job and the college in the first place! But he soon learned he of course was nominated for the promotion by Aria’s dad Byron . . . .

The very end of the show had -A taking a gun out of Ezra’s Spencer’s dad’s drawer . . . what will he/she do with it? Spoilers have indicated a major character will be offed on the show, but not one of the four main girls.

A bunch of spoilers for Mid-February here . . . of note there are two weeks of “Private Practice” as the spoiler release went out a bit later for it than the “Grey’s” episode for the same date. Previews for this bunch include . . . .

On “Private Practice,” Sam reconnects with his estranged sister.
On “Castle,” the first of a two-parter guest staring the one and only Jennifer Beals and “Drop Dead Diva’s” Jason Stamberg, both who play agents that work with Castle and Becket on an international conspiracy case.
On “The River,” the second episode finds the family/boat crew face to face with “guardians of the jungle.”
On “Body of Proof,” a body is found dead in a freezer of an Italian restaurant . . . I swear I watched this already? Or did “Castle” do a similar story?
On “Revenge,” it looks like we are finally nearing the present, where Daniel gets his at the engagement party?
On “Grey’s” and “Private Practice,” a two part cross-over as they turn to Derek to help Mason’s mom Erica with her brain tumor.
On “Desperate Housewives,” if you suspected Orson is the person who killed Alejandro . . . you may be right as he is back!

Once Upon A Time: The Genie Of The Lamp!

Once Upon A Time: The Genie Of The Lamp!

Posted by Dustin on 01.30.2012 at 4:16 pm

In the latest episode of “Once Upon A Time” we got more back story on Regina/The Queen, as well as Sydney/The Mirror.

In Fairy Tale land we learned that The Mirror actually started out as a Genie, who Snow’s father The King found and freed (even giving him one of his own wishes to use). The Genie refused to use it, as all wishes turn sour on the wisher eventually. He thanked The King and served in his court. In case you missed it, this was their little nod to Aladdin, as the Genie was from Agrabah.

The Genie met The Queen, who was very unhappy and unloved. It became clear The King still loved his first dead wife, and was always praising Snow as the fairest in the land. The Genie fell for The Queen, and she for him . . . but they could never be together. Eventually The King became suspicious that another man had won The Queen’s heart, so she planned to send The Genie away. However The Genie got another idea, put in his head by The Queen’s father via the gift of a serpent. They could kill The King and make it look like an accident. In the end though, The Genie found out The Queen had used him all along, even setting him up by using a snake from his homeland. She just wanted The King dead as part of her punishment to Snow. The Genie was in love with The Queen and wished to always be with her, which is how he got trapped in the mirror.

In Storybrooke, Sydney came to Emma shamed and fired and wanting revenge against Regina. He convinced Emma that Regina had stolen 50 thousand from the town fund, apparently to build a house for herself in the woods. She had previously torn down the fort where Henry played and he would meet Emma. She claimed it was unsafe, and Henry was devastated two fold . . . because it’s also where he hid his story book. In the end Emma was left with egg on her face, as Regina had taken the money . . . only to build a new playground for the kids of the town.

At the very end we learned what became obvious, Sydney is working with Regina to get closer to Emma and ruin her. He’s never been mad at Regina and he hasn’t been shamed and fired as he claimed, it’s a set-up. We also learned who retrieved the story book before the fort was destroyed . . . The Mysterious Writer! Aha! I at least got one thing right. He is somehow connected to the book.

I loved the twists they threw at us in this episode. For half of it you really felt for the poor unloved Queen, and I thought her vengeance for Snow would be The Genie being cast out. But we learned that wasn’t it, we still don’t know what Snow did to her.

Has Henry’s Dad Been Cast On Once Upon A Time?

Has Henry’s Dad Been Cast On Once Upon A Time?

TV Guide is reporting that Sebastian Stan will guest star on ABC’s “Once Upon A Time,” but little else is known. Sebastian is probably best known for his role on the CW’s “Gossip Girl” as well as for playing Captain America’s sidekick Bucky Barnes on the big screen flick “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

Who could he be playing? Based on his looks alone, I think he’s a dead ringer for Henry’s deadbeat dad that Emma mentioned an episode back. Recall that she lied to Henry, telling him his dad was a firefighter and died a hero battling a fire. In reality he’s someone bad, someone Emma feels Henry is better off not knowing about.

Catching Up With The Secret Circle Gang!

Catching Up With The Secret Circle Gang!

Posted by Dustin on 01.26.2012 at 10:05 pm

So I realized I hadn’t written about “The Secret Circle” since before I left for my cruise. This post discusses some of my thoughts on the last few episodes. The show is on hiatus this week and returns February 2nd (I’ll post some spoilers this weekend . . . . though I hate to because that means I have to read/edit them and I so enjoy this show without them!)

Faye made a deal with a Voodoo Priest named Lee to try and get her own powers back, but it came at the cost of the circle. Lee turned out to be a con-artist, his grandparents were the real voodoo priests, he was a joke basically. He could do the spells, but wasn’t as knowledgable as them. Faye got crucified by her circle for what she did, but part of me was for her when she lashed back at them. They’ve all forgiven Cassie for her mishaps, but roast her. Okay yeah, Cassie didn’t mean to do the things she did, Faye did. Sure Faye’s not perfect, but she did have a point, and she didn’t know she was stealing from all of them (she thought it was just Cassie, not that it makes what she did better). I guess I just like her cause she’s exciting, and she has been labeled the trouble maker . . . even if she is 🙂

Faye isn’t done with Lee just yet. She keeps seeing him, and him her . . . but we know he has bigger plans. Something tells me he is somehow after her powers and may plan a sacrifice in the future . . . I guess Faye’s karma will bite her in the ass sooner or later.

One thing I loved about Faye screwing the others was Melissa and Diana bonding. We learned they were good friends, until Melissa started hanging out with Faye. I love Melissa, I just wish she had a bigger part in the show. She seems to just be the side kick so far.

Jake was back, thanks to Cassie’s spell, but he lurked about until this latest episode. Jake finally came out of the shadows, and told Cassie that they had to find out what happened the night their parents died. He was a toddler and there, so they could use a spell to see his memories. I was honestly a little confused. I thought they were high school students when they died? Seemed more like they were in college from the flashbacks!

But anyways, a huge twist I never saw coming, though of course I never read the books! The fire on the boat was not the circles doing, but started by witch hunters who were trying to kill Cassie’s father. The twist happened when he vanished! He escaped before being executed! The news had broke before this episode that “Dr. Quinn” heartthrob Joe Lando had been cast as Cassies father. Wait, he’s a bit old isn’t he? Guess not if he’s still alive! I had wondered how that would have worked. I thought maybe his ghost?

I absolutely love this twist . . . though what will this mean for the circle members who had their powers stripped after the accident? Will they be vindicated? Will they be returned? Dawn with powers . . . scary thought!

Desperate Housewives: Don’t Call My Name, Alejandrooooooo . . . Just call me Ramonnnnnnnn

So the latest episode of “Housewives” had Susan and Gabby scrambling to clean up Susan’s mess with Alejandro’s latest wife, who came to town thinking Susan had stolen her man. This all happened as Gabby was having the room Alejandro was killed in redone before Carlos came home, so he wasn’t further reminded of what happened. The blood stain on the floor and carpet she claimed was a wine stain.

Alejandro/Ramon’s wife showed up and met with Gabby, when Gabby decided it was time to tell the truth after Susan let her know another step-daughter had been molested. Gabby never said she killed Alejandro, but did point out his name was not Ramon, that he had a family before his new one, and disappeared on them . . . She said Alejandro returned to find her when she revisited her old home town and said some not nice things about him that got him angry. She told the new wife he was a child molester, which at first she wouldn’t believe . . . until her own daughter claimed it was true. All this coupled with the “Red Wine Stain,” well the new wife seemed to fill in the pieces. It seems like she’s keeping the secret . . . but who knows. I’m sure something will come out eventually and get the girls in hot water again. Ben’s construction site is in big trouble, I’m sure that cement foundation Alejandro is hidden in will break open at any moment! Knowing this show, it will crack when a tornado hits, and crashes a plane into it! Have they done an earthquake yet? That could be an option too!

Lynette attempted to move on by dating Renee’s hairdresser. Of course it was a huge disaster of a first date, because she did what she does best . . . critique and micro-manage. Apparently that’s what this guys ex-wife did, and it ended their marriage. Oops! But there must be something there, as it seems they give a second date a try. Frankly, I’m not sure I want to watch another date!

Bree, however, was a very very very fun date! Bree continued her drinking binge, along with her string of men. Her Reverend became concerned with her, even suggesting . . . no telling her that she wouldn’t be running the bake sale this year as it was for her own good. Bree didn’t like that, showed up, and got into a huge fight with a woman who happened to be married to one of her one-night-stands. Bree decided she liked being bad, the town slut, and walked out of the bake sale with her head held high. Honestly, I loved it! It was shades of Kimberly from “Melrose Place!”

Finally Ben proposed to Renee, who accepted. However his conscious got the best of him and he confessed while he loved her, he proposed because he was having money problems and she had money. Renee was devastated and ended things, unsure if Ben ever really loved her. Poor Renee! Why do I feel like Renee might end up with Tom in the end?

It looks like both “Grimm” and “Parenthood” don’t return until February. *Sigh* I guess shows are going on hiatus in order to put good stuff on during sweeps month. Frankly we just came off a long enough hiatus if you ask me!

On “Grimm,” an illegal organ donation business plays on the “Hansel and Gretel” story.
On “Parenthood” Mark and Sarah have the talk about possibly having a kid . . .
