Devious Maids July Spoilers!

Posted by Dustin on 06.30.2013 at 7:01 pm

What follows is all the spoilers for the episodes of “Devious Maids” airing in July. I’ll of course post my thoughts on tonight’s episode as quick as I can after it airs. That likely means Monday or Tuesday given how busy Sunday night is in the summers! It has after the first episode become one of my favorite summer shows though.

WIPING AWAY THE PAST – July 7
When Michael’s ex-wife, Olivia, drops a bomb about Taylor’s past, Marisol helps Taylor keep it together. Adrian tries to cheer up his newly divorced friend the only way he knows how, to Evelyn’s displeasure. Unbeknownst to Zoila, Valentina and Genevieve team up to get Remi to notice Valentina as more than just a friend. Spence offers to help Rosie out of a bind, but Rosie wonders if his generosity comes with strings attached. Carmen finally gets a meeting with a major music producer and needs Sam’s help to sell her diva image.

MAKING YOUR BED – July 14
The arrival of Genvieve’s brother, Henri, complicates matters for Zoila, whose heart he broke years before. Rosie vows to help Spence with his marriage. Tensions between Carmen and Odessa are at an all-time high when Alejandro allows Carmen to be a guest at the party he’s hosting while Odessa works in her place. Marisol offers to work a fundraiser at the Powell house in order to uncover more information about Flora’s murder.

TAKING OUT THE TRASH – July 21
A visitor from Carmen’s past shows up at Alejandro’s house. Valentina tries keeping her emotions in check after meeting Remi’s new “friend.” The strained relationship between Marisol and her son, Eddie, becomes apparent when new information about Flora comes to light. Peri is convinced Spence is having an affair and tries bribing Rosie for the woman’s name. Evelyn and Adrian celebrate a very important birthday.

WALKING THE DOG – July 28
Genevieve hits a rough financial patch, putting Zoila’s job in jeopardy. Marisol makes an important discovery at the Powell house. Rosie and Spence heat up. Carmen gets jealous when Sam starts dating. Valentina worries about Remi’s erratic behavior.

Glee: Next Season Will Be A Lot Smaller!

Glee: Next Season Will Be A Lot Smaller!

Posted by Dustin on 06.30.2013 at 3:51 pm

So this week a lot of news has dropped regarding who is and isn’t coming back next season on “Glee.” I’ve fallen behind with reporting news bits, because I just have so much going on personally. My bad! I’m trying to get back to it, and this is one of those posts.

According to tweets from Ryan Murphy himself, Heather Morris (Brittany), Diana Agron (Quinn), Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang), Amber Reilly (Mercedes) and Mark Salling (Puck) are not returning next season as regulars. This doesn’t count out guest stints. Really, based on last season, the major loss is Heather Morris. I expected this though as the actress is also expecting a child.

Jamaya Mays (Emma) just got cast in a new CBS show “The Millers” . . . so her screen time will be limited too. Not that she was on all that much last season either.

The Hollywood Reporter has indicated that Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty), Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Alex Newell (Unique) all are now series regulars for next season. This seems to dispel the original rumors/plans/musings that the show was going to start focusing more on the originals in the New York/Post-High School years. It seems we will still be left with a very much split show between New York and Ohio.

Personally I was rooting more for an eclectic New York scene, with less focus on Rachel. I worry eventually the high school thing will be played out. How many times can we watch and root for them to win Nationals? I mean remember when Fame was on its 18th season . . .

Pretty Little Liars: Immortality Bitches!

Pretty Little Liars: Immortality Bitches!

Posted by Dustin on 06.27.2013 at 7:58 pm

So I felt the last two episodes of “PLL” were a little lackluster. A- is now targeting the liars moms rather than them, which obviously takes things up a level. Hannah’s mom seems to be the main suspect in Detective Wilden’s murder, while Emily’s mom is now being investigated for possible child endangerment (Emily’s bruises and taking her mom’s meds). Aria’s mom at least left on a trip to Europe with her new boyfriend, and Spencer’s mom has yet to be targeted in any way (I’m sure it’s coming). At this point I find myself screaming “just tell the truth!” but then we wouldn’t have a show would we?

Spencer’s sister Melissa returned from her “Army Wives” vacation. She did her best to convince Melissa, who didn’t get into U of Penn, they should both just leave town. Sounds pretty guilty! Melissa also seems to have a way with cops, she’s made herself very friendly with the State Trooper investigating Wilden’s death.

Toby and Spencer visited the sanitarium seeking more answers about his mom’s supposed suicide. All the evidence basically has been pointing to the fact that his mom did not kill herself. She had every reason to get better, her sessions were going good, and bars and grates on the windows of her room made it seem impossible for her to kill herself . . . . so now Toby’s own mother is a part of the mix.

The biggest revelation of the past two episodes where the girls finding a mask in Mona’s “A” stash that they recognized from the Halloween Train. When they pealed the plaster and paint away, the mask was actually a mold of Alison’s face. Why would she do this? Emily said “Immortality Bitches!” They tracked down the maker who said Allison made the masks for her friends to have, but then requested the mold be broken. They were stunned to find another family mask at his shop . . . one that looked like Melissa!

At this point I just feel a little lost with all the pokers in the fire and cooks in the kitchen. I hope they start to bring these storylines together at some point. Oh and I really just need to finish the dang books too because they are dragging this out forever . . . though I know they’ve already strayed from the books.

Spoilers for July’s episodes below . . . .

Drop Dead Diva: Back From The Dead!

Drop Dead Diva: Back From The Dead!

Posted by Dustin on 06.27.2013 at 12:16 pm

“Drop Dead Diva” returned this weekend and I really enjoyed the premier. We picked up a few days after the wedding fiasco, and Owen has gone MIA. Jane’s old angel nobody liked got recalled to heaven and she got a new one named Paul (Cowboy Austin from “90210”) who played a pretty faced model-wanna-be angel who seemed to not give a fark as to what Jane does or doesn’t do. I’m assuming he’s not really this dense and is going to swoop in at some point when she needs him? Oh how I miss Fred!

Jane was frantically searching for Owen, but had been warned Old Jane pressed the return button and could now be in Owen. Fortunately she wasn’t, but Owen was very very angry with Jane and not really ready for a sit-down-chat about what happened. This lead to the question “where is Old Jane?” By the very end of the episode a stunning woman showed up at New Jane’s door and it was Old Jane! So they’ve done a complete body reversal it seems . . . . Old Jane however wanted her old body and old life back.

Parker was MIA in this episode. The news broke earlier that the actor would not be returning full time, even though Kim is pregnant with his child. Also Grasons feelings for New Jane weren’t really addressed, but based on the previews look to be next week.

SPOILERS for the next several episodes below!

Big Brother 15 Premier Thoughts

Big Brother 15 Premier Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 06.27.2013 at 10:55 am

So Big Brother premiered yesterday, and this season from the cast to the evictions to the length of the season . . . everything is bigger! The casting department, didn’t surprise us with any big changes though. There is token black guy with his bible, token gay man the girls all love, token power mom and career woman, token good looking guy obsessed with his body, and a larger than normal amount of beautiful bimbos. There were a few surprises, such as nerdy pizza delivery boy that everyone thinks is a genius, but he isn’t, and Rachel Reilly’s sister who thinks she will not be recognized even though she looks and sounds just like her. Oh and judging from the feeds this morning, they’ve all figured it out. With the exception of the big train conductor guy, everyone looks not a day over 25. They really strived for youth and beauty this season it seems.

In the biggest shock of all, it only took a day (okay they’ve actually been there a few days) for the talk that the DR is leading certain players on with information to begin. You can bet they are going to do everything they can to keep Rachel’s sister in the game as long as they can . . . cause this morning the players were talking about putting her up as a veto replacement or having the MVP hopefully do it. We ALL know she’s getting that damn MVP this week though.

The two major changes this season are that each week three people go on the block. Two are nominated by the HOH (this week that’s Pizza guy and he’s already put two up) and the third by the MVP who is chosen by America. We don’t know yet if the MVP nominates before veto or not, but I assume yes to be fair. The best part about the MVP is the house doesn’t know who it is, so they can nominate and knock out someone without getting blood on their hands. Today it seems they are playing the veto comp though (or think they are) as the house is strategizing replacements already.

Hopefully the two changes will make for an exciting season.

The Fosters: What Happened With Liam?

The Fosters: What Happened With Liam?

Posted by Dustin on 06.26.2013 at 10:15 am

So I’m trying to get caught up on my ABC Family shows and posts. First up . . . “The Fosters!”

I’m really enjoying this show a lot, but would like to see more storylines for the grown-ups. I get it’s essentially about the kids, and ABC Family definitely centers on young adult shows/storylines, but I want to know more about the parents. The last episode with Marianna’s quinceanera did go there with the one parent Lena and her own mom, who have a rough past because she’s bi-racial and her mother has constantly told her she’ll never face the challenges a black woman faces. I thought that was a really well done storyline.

The forbidden relationship between Callie and Brandon is actually annoying me. I know we are supposed to be routing for them, and Brandon’s now ex-girl friend was a total beyotch, but honestly all I can think about is how Callie’s gunna screw things up for her younger brother.

Brandon’s ex, who read Callie’s journal, told him to ask Callie about Liam . . . who I believe is the guy she and Jude were staying with before Lena and Stef. Hmmmm, now I’m wondering what happened between them and why Callie really got sent to juvie!

Spoilers for the next three episodes below . . . .

Falling Skies Thoughts: All Hail The Reverend President!

Falling Skies Thoughts: All Hail The Reverend President!

Posted by Dustin on 06.24.2013 at 6:54 pm

So “Falling Skies” was pretty eventful this week. I was late watching last week’s episode because as usual, Sunday seems to be the only day TV producers feel people watch TV, so every show is piled on Sunday night. Grrrrrr!

Reverend Camden from “7th Heaven” joined the show as the rightful President of the United States. He’s been in hiding, but all the time working to try and reunite all the militias that have popped up around the place. Tom planned a meeting with him to talk about the Volm and the new weapons they’ve given them in their fight against the Ashvetti (I’m guessing on these spellings).

Pope, somehow, had gotten himself and hidden a giant silver plane from the 30s (or around there). It worked, and it was his way out if things went to hell . . . though he didn’t know how to fly. General Max Headrom did and offered to fly Tom and Cochise to meet the President. Pope insisted on going since it was his plane, but he didn’t like any of this. President Reverend Camden (I just can’t seem to remember their names on this show) wasn’t exactly pleased that Tom brought an alien, but was won over it seemed during a moving speech about why Cochise was helping them. Unfortunately somehow the enemy was tipped off to their location, and they suspected Cochise. Looks like the traitor struck again, but who is it? Few people knew where they were going, and I’m pretty sure Hal did NOT know, as he went to talk to his father only to learn he was gone and Weaver was left in charge. Tom, Pope and General Headrom fled in their plane, while the President and his men demanded to take Cochise with them in the President’s plane . . . Yeah I’m getting the feeling Reverend President Camden is not going to turn out to be a good guy at all! I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a deal with the bad aliens actually.

Pope and Tom’s plane ended up getting shot down and they crashed. The previews show only Pope and Tom struggling to survive in the wilderness. I’m thinking General Max Headrom is a goner? If so, that probably counts him out as the traitor.

Hal meanwhile seems to have developed a multiple personality. Is this the result of the alien control, or has the pressure just made him crack? I can’t tell. His other personality stopped him from telling people he thought he may be the traitor, which again I am thinking he’s not.

Meanwhile Anne and Lourdes, using Volm technology, figured out how to remove the spikes from the harness kids’ backs. The choice was theirs to make, but Lourdes stressed that they felt the spikes could drastically shorten their lives. However losing them would also cause their above normal strength and whatever medical alinements they had that the spikes cured to return. In the end the kids, including Ben, chose to have the spikes taken out.

Anne also convinced the crazy guy under the city to help her devise DNA tests for the spiked kids to test for what implications the spikes had and yada yada . . . really she needed the test to figure out what is going on with baby Alexis. He figured that out and told her the results of the test indicated her child is not fully human, alien DNA is mixed in.

Anne flipped and conked crazy guy on the head, then knocked Lourdes out with drugs, and took off with the alien baby. She didn’t make it very far before a hardnessed girl and skidder showed up for the baby . . . as well as Hal ?!?!?

Devious Maids

Devious Maids

Posted by Dustin on 06.24.2013 at 12:50 pm

Last night on Lifetime after the season premier of “Drop Dead Diva” (which I still have to watch) was the premier of “Devious Maids.” This is a show from Marc Cherry which ABC passed on, but Lifetime picked up. I can see why they passed on it honestly. It’s almost a clone of “Desperate Housewives” in terms of the formula. However I still really enjoyed it.

The show is set in L.A. and is about a group of Latino maids that work for a bunch of rich snobby and somewhat crazy people. The show opens with the murder of Flora, one of the maids, during a big party her employers were throwing. Flora is confronted by the wife of the family for sleeping with her husband, seducing him in fact. She warns her to stay away from him, or else she will have her deported. Flora then begins writing a note feverishly about how they all know the truth, the husband raped her! She then places it in a book and is promptly stabbed. We don’t see who stabbed her. We know the husband and wife were dancing outside when it happened. A young waiter who apparently finds the knife used to stab Flora is accused and arrested. So we basically have our “Mary Alice” of the season . . .

Another family has lost their made in a divorce. The man’s ex-wife took her! So they have to hire a new maid, enter Marisol (the older sister from “Ugly Betty”). From the beginning we know something is very different about her. She was born in L.A. “doesn’t have an accent” and “speaks as if she went to college” . . . all things the new wife noted during the interview. However she is given the job, and seems to be very interested in Flora’s murder. When she befriends the other family’s maids to find out info, some of them are suspicious too.

By the end of the show we learn that Marisol’s son is the waiter in jail accused of Flora’s murder and she’s working to get him out by finding out the truth.

The show’s title is a little misleading. The maids are devious, we do learn that quickly. One, Carmen, works for Alejandro (played by ex-Brandon from “Days”) who is a major Latino recording artist. She does everything she can to get him to notice her and her music. Valentina is the daughter of another maid, and she is in love with the son of their employer (Susan Lucci). Then there is Rosie who works for a couple who are actors and whose son she cares for, while her own son is in Guadalajara and she can’t afford to bring him to the U.S.. She pulls a trick off to convince the wife to give her a day off so she can meet with a lawyer who is trying to help her get her son back. However none of the maids are as nasty as the people they work for!

After the mystery of Flora’s murder is solved, I’m sure there will be a new mystery every season, should the show last. Hence the “Housewives” formula.

SPOILERS for the next episode!

SETTING THE TABLE – Airs Sunday, June 30 at 10:00-11:00PM (ET)
Valentina’s plans to get closer to Remi continue to irritate Zoila. Rosie gets caught in the middle when Spence accuses Peri of cheating. Carmen takes advantage of Alejando and Odessa being out of the house, much to Sam’s dismay. Marisol tries to figure out a way to spend more time at the Powell house.

True Blood: I See The Future . . . Alcide’s A @#$@%

True Blood: I See The Future . . . Alcide’s A @#$@%

Posted by Dustin on 06.24.2013 at 12:15 pm

So the latest episode of “True Blood” wasn’t as exciting as the premier. There were things I like, and things I hated. Let’s get into the details . . .

We found out that Warlow, who revealed himself to Jason, wasn’t Warlow at all. He was his fairy great grandfather Na. I thought that was a great twist. Warlow is however real and showed up on the bridge were he killed Jason and Sookie’s parents. We didn’t get a good look at him, but he looks like Blackbeard the Pirate in many ways. Na explained all to Sookie and Jason. He not only is their fairy grandpa (as Jason called him), but really is their kin. He explains he is the chief of their tribe, and they are the most powerful of all the Fey. He says Warlow killed his family and his whole village. He later mated with a human, and one of his sons was John Stackhouse who made the deal with Warlow that promised him Sookie. He tells them that when Claude did his magic on the bridge, it sent out a signal to Warlow who has come for Sookie. He told her how she could kill him, their clan possesses a very special power. They can focus all their light into a supernova which will kill any vampire in the area. However Sookie can only do this once, and when she does, all her light will be gone . . . .So I feel like this season is likely the last, as Sookie will do what she needs to do and could finally be human?

Sookie also met another fairy halfling named Ben. She found him in the woods walking to work. He’d been attacked by a vampire. When they touched, light sparks happened. I can see these two ending up together and having a halfling baby together, and maybe that baby could help Sookie keep her powers?

Eric, Tara and Pam learned the governor had a new arsenal of weapons. He has contact lenses that prevent glamouring and they’ve developed silver bullets that emit UV light to fry vampires from the inside. Hmmmm, that reminds me a lot of a series of films . . . Eric failed to get the governor, so he did the next best thing and ended up going after his daughter at the very end of the episode. Oh dear!

A group of humans who have formed some vampire human alliance are trying to get other supernaturals to come out. They went after Sam for being a shifter and wanted him to go public. He refused, and they ended up spying on him. Later Alcide, his nasty girlfriend and Emma’s grandma came for Emma. He refused to give her up, and she wanted to stay with Sam. They attacked Sam and Lafayette and took Emma by force. I really can’t believe they turned Alcide into such an ass. I no longer *heart* you Alcide! Meanwhile as all this went down the human group was in the bushes taping the whole thing. Fantastic! I won’t be sad if some vampires chow down on them.

Bill spent most of the episode in this weird zoned out coma and talking to Lilith. She told him that God made her, God made the humans, God is God and there is only one God. However she said things had been set in motion now, and they were at a crossroads. When Bill came out of his coma he realized he can see the future, he can feel when vampires are in trouble. He also had a premonition of Eric, Tara, Pam and the others all in a cell and having the sun shine down on them and burning them to death. Will Bill be able to thwart this? I would assume so, but I suspect by the end of this season Bill, Eric or both are gunna be dead. The tagline has been “Nobody lives forever” in the previews.

Finally Andy tried to find his fairy babies mama to take the kids back, who are now toddlers. Poor Andy! We still haven’t seen Holly yet, but Arlene did mention her in this episode. Also Patrick’s pregnant wife showed up at Merlottes. She thought Patrick had run off with another woman. Terry was conflicted, but Arlene told her that is exactly what happened. She knew the truth about his death would just make more trouble for them all.
