Under The Dome: The Outside World And Back

Under The Dome: The Outside World And Back

Posted by Dustin on 08.30.2014 at 9:23 pm

So I’m trying to use Labor Day weekend to finally get caught up on some blog posts on my Summer shows, all which are winding down. I thought no TV would be on, but I was wrong! Shows are airing Sunday and Monday.

BvQqVM_IAAATSW3 First up is “Under The Dome.” Man a lot has been going on with this show! Before we get into it all, a week or so back I met Colin Ford, who plays Joe, at the local horror con. He wouldn’t tell me if anyone else major died. He did say a lot of crazy shiznet would happen as the end of the season approached, and several new characters would be introduced. I think he was speaking of Dale’s dad and the computer hacker. Who knows though, maybe more will show up? I did bring up the fact that the dome brought back Melanie, so his sister Angie could come back too. He said something like “Exactly, you never know!” Angie comes back this week, but only as a ghost it seems. I have a theory though… more on that in a bit.

So since I last blogged Dale, Sam and Lyle all made it to the outside world. At first I honestly thought it was another dimension, not really the outside world. However since Barbie/Dale and Julia saw one another, I guess not. In the outside world they all connected with Pauline. We learned that Dale’s father owns an energy company and is after the egg, and he wants it before the US government learns about it. He’s the one employing the guards patrolling the dome, it’s not the army. For real? A giant dome comes down and the government isn’t involved? Please, they’d be all over that!

So in the real world, Lyle and Sam both seemed to become fairly sane. Lyle stopped being a biblical preacher, and Sam even acknowledged that he killed Angie. It seems the dome really did make them both nuts, just like Big Jim. I’m still not ready to forgive Sam for killing Angie though. Pauline’s drawings led them to a red door that would take them back to the dome through the lake where the Egg was dropped. On the way though they all had visions. Dale’s was important, he had met Melanie as a kid. She was his babysitter for awhile! She said her mother (maybe it was his father?) wanted her to meet him. Hmmm, I suspect they are half-siblings, having their douche bag of a father in common.

The latest episode had them all return to the dome. Inside Junior has been telling his father way too much. What does it take for Junior to realize his dad is no good? Big Jim knows the outsiders want the egg, and is willing to deliver it if he and Junior can leave. Rebecca has turned to Julia’s side, and Big Jim got the surprise of his life when Pauline returned. Oh yeah, it’s about to go down!

So I have a theory that there must always be four hands as Pauline predicted. When Angie died, the dome brought back Melanie as she was the first to really want to protect the egg and understand its importance. I suspect if Melanie dies again, or any one of the hands, that Angie could be brought back!

Pretty Little Liars Summer Finale: Twisting The Twist?

Pretty Little Liars Summer Finale: Twisting The Twist?

Posted by Dustin on 08.27.2014 at 9:12 pm

So it seems the show has twisted the twin twist from the books in the summer mid-season finale. Mona convinced the liars that Alison has been the new A all along and has been working to pin everything on them. Indeed Spencer found herself arrested for Bethany’s murder, and based on the previous episode with Melissa’s confession it looked like she could have done it. However it seems the real culprit could be Alison herself.

Mona and the others discovered that Alison definitely knew Bethany. Bethany’s father and Alison’s mother had been having an affair. Is there anyone Alison’s mother didn’t sleep around with? It seems Bethany is the secret that Alison’s mother and Spencer’s dad were working to hide in Rosewood. I’m not sure though why Spencer’s dad would care, other than he too was having an affair with Alison’s mom. Was she perhaps blackmailing him to help her? Did he kill Alison’s mom, or did A do that? That murder seems to be unsolved too.

By the end of the episode Mona called the girls with the goods on Alison. Then we saw A, with blond hair coming out of her hoodie, sneak in and take out Mona. The girls arrived to find Mona’s house covered in bloody handprints all over. We saw A load Mona’s body, well a body in a sheet, into the trunk of her car. It definitely looks like Mona really is dead. But did Alison do it? The show wants us to believe she did, but I don’t know. In the books the body was Alison’s twin and she most surely killed her. But so much has been changed, so Alison as the killer may have been changed as well. It’s a little too easy to think it’s Alison isn’t it?

“Pretty Little Liars” will return in January of 2014.

Rather than a Halloween special as they’ve done in years past, it seems this year’s special will be more of a retrospective show and the liars answering questions. Word is this year we will get a Christmas special instead. The show ended with A making a snow globe of the liars.

True Blood Finale: Yeah It Sucked!

True Blood Finale: Yeah It Sucked!

Posted by Dustin on 08.25.2014 at 4:02 pm

So last night was the final “True Blood,” and the reaction of many on social media wasn’t positive. Some did like it, a lot more seemed to hate it. Was it a totally unhappy ending? No it wasn’t. Almost everyone got a happy ending. Was it the ending we deserved after 7 years? Hell no! As I said in one of my recent “True Blood” blogs, I hated how Alan Ball ended “Six Feet Under” and worried he’d do it again. Well he did! If you haven’t seen the episode, I’d stop reading now.

So most of the show was actually about Jessica and Hoyt, who decided to get married before Bill met the true death. Seriously, they wasted most of the final show on these two!

Bill was resigned to die and wanted Sookie to fairy ball him, which would make her human and give her the life she wanted too. In the end she couldn’t do that as being fairy is just who she is, she wouldn’t give it up. For that I was happy. However Bill still wanted to die, so she staked him. WTF! Seriously? I had a small hope that Sookie might blast him and somehow he’d become human again. Throughout the episode they teased that possibility. He was becoming “warmer” and Sookie was able to read his thoughts finally. I guess though it was only because he was dying.

Pam and Eric killed Mr. Gus, took over New Blood, and chained Sarah Newmie Newlander up in the basement of Fangtasia where they rented her out to wealthy infected vampires who wanted a full cure. That was her punishment for being the beyotch she was in life. Pam and Eric’s story was at least funny, especially with Sarah asking Pam to turn her so they could be lesbian vamps together and Pam telling her no bleeping way.

The show ended with some fast forwarding. It was several years later and everyone was gathering for Thanksgiving. Jason ended up with Hoyt’s ditched girlfriend and had 3 or 4 kids with her. Lafayette ended up with James. I don’t know if we saw Arlene with her vampire guy or not? Jessica and Hoyt are together still, and Sam came home with his wife and daughter. Adeline was with Wyatt, and of course Andy and Holly. Everyone gathered around the table for dinner. We saw that Sookie was pregnant and had a husband. However we don’t know who he is, as they never told us and we never saw his face. WTF? After all this time and we don’t get full closure or disclosure for Sookie? I guess since she couldn’t be with Bill it wasn’t supposed to matter who she ended up with, just that she ended up happy as Bill wanted. So in the end, it was pretty much about Bill getting what he wanted in a way.

I like my idea that Sookie was able to somehow turn Bill human much better. I think I’ll pretend that is how the show really ended.

Next time Alan Ball decides to make a television show I think I shall skip it and save the hours wasted over its 5-7 year run and watch or do something else.

The Summer Finale Of PLL Is Upon Us!

The Summer Finale Of PLL Is Upon Us!

Posted by Dustin on 08.21.2014 at 12:57 pm

After the latest episode of “Pretty Little Liars” I have to say I am totally confused! We learned that Melissa killed Bethany Young by burying her alive. She saw Spencer walking off from her dragging the shovel, thought Spencer killed her, and burried in the open grave to protect Spencer. However she wasn’t really dead? The open grave was where Ali came from? We know Alison confirmed that Spencer did not hit her, but does that mean she came back and later hit Bethany? We know the shovel was the murder weapon. And who hit Alison with the rock? What are the chances that two women get hit in the same night and buried alive?

Emily slipped and called a photo of Alison “A”. I’m beginning to wonder if she is A, has been A all along, and she killed Bethany in a twist on the twin twist from the books.

I’m so confused! I hope we get answers in next week’s summer final. Promo and spoilers below!

Taking This One To The Grave” – Feeling trapped by Alison and “A,” the PLLs turn to an unlikely person for help in “Taking This One To The Grave,” the mid-season finale of ABC Family’s hit original series “Pretty Little Liars,” premiering Tuesday, August 26th (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT).

The Fosters Summer Finale

The Fosters Summer Finale

Posted by Dustin on 08.19.2014 at 11:57 pm

So this week was the summer finale of “The Fosters.” Much that happened I expected, some things I groaned over, and one thing had me dying to know more! Let’s discuss…

It wasn’t a shocker that Callie went to her birth father for help with the Girl’s United situation, though I never expected Rita to question Callie’s relationship with him and suggest that perhaps she explore it. Dang Rita, you aren’t in charge of Callie anymore, mind ya business! However it did get Callie thinking as to whether she wanted a relationship with him, and she publicly acknowledged him as her birth father whom she just found out about. That was a bad move, as later Callie’s sister revealed she took the abandonment papers out of the mailbox and ripped them up because she knew Callie would come to accept them in time. Her dad then admitted that he couldn’t re-sign them, it was hard enough the first time, he didn’t want to give her up. Yup, looks like Callie isn’t getting adopted anytime soon! I knew that was coming. At the very end she vented to Brandon, suggesting maybe this was meant to happen, that she gave up so much to be adopted . . . and then they kissed. Ugh, I knew we would eventually get back around to this story. I just do not like them together! I don’t like her with Wyatt either, but I really get creeped out thinking of her and Brandon for some reason.

Marianna and Jesus met with Anna so she could complete some of her AA steps and apologize to them, but Marianna didn’t want to hear it and told her mother off. Later she finally got rid of her horrible blond hair and returned to her roots, pun intended.

Connor’s father showed up at school furious that his son and Jude shared a tent on a school trip, because he believes Jude is gay and that’s inappropriate. There was also a question as to whether or not the father had been hitting Connor, who used a lame “I tripped and fell into something” excuse. The father did admit he still spanked his son, which Lena felt was inappropriate for a child his age. Lena got very defensive, called him a bully, and the new principal stepped in. She warned Lena she can’t use her power as VP to deal with personal issues that involve her kids. Lena then quit her job in order to defend her son. Wow! I don’t think that was a good move. Steph wasn’t supportive of the move, thinking it might not be too late for her to get her job back. Lena stood firm in her decision though. Jude overheard them talking about it and later admitted to his moms that something did happen between him and Connor on the trip. What what what! We were pretty much left hanging there. Wow, that was unexpected. I want to know more! I have a feeling Connor was the instigator of whatever happened, thinking back to when they played spin the bottle and Connor said they should kiss when Jude said this was silly.

Man I can’t wait for the show to come back to find out what happened!

Witches Of East End: Disco Inferno And The Mandragora

Witches Of East End: Disco Inferno And The Mandragora

Posted by Dustin on 08.18.2014 at 3:12 pm

So the past two episodes of “Witches of East End” dealt with the Mandragora storyline and putting it to bed. We had a few twists and turns along the way. One of the biggest was the introduction of an old love interest of Joanna, a woman named Alex. They parted on bad terms, mainly because Alex warned Freya in a previous life that she and Killian were star-crossed lovers and never meant to be. At least it seems like she was talking about Killian, could she have been speaking of Dash? This past life took place in the 70s, so it was hilarious to see everyone in disco threads (Freya, Killian and Dash) or hippie attire (Joanna and Alex).

Joanna reached out to Alex to help them with the Mandragora problems. Wendy remained suspicious of Fredrick, who knew a lot about the beast. He didn’t know as much as Alex, who helped them all break its hold on Ingrid and destroy it once and for all. However not before it took out Ingrid’s co-worker at the library. I was so sad to see him go. He only had a bit part, but poor Ingrid just keeps losing co-workers left and right. Worse yet Fredrick was trying to heal him, so he said, but Wendy’s distrust caused her to send him away. She was worried he was killing him so he would stay quiet. Ingrid and him said a touching goodbye.

Dash continued his decent into evil, being poisoned by the beast and telling Freya way too much. The poison made him tell her off in anger, as well as say he had done horrible things she couldn’t even dream of. They cured him, and he and Freya seemingly made up. She swore she only ever kissed his brother, they never slept together. Dash helped save Ingrid from the beast, and it was clear to Freya that they were getting closer. She’s likely not going to give up on the horrible things he did comment, though she clearly has no idea that her own sister helped him cover some of them up!

Killian meanwhile had some spell put on him by his new girlfriend. I knew she was up to no good, but we still don’t know what she’s after. Possibly their family’s grimoire? They made a point to mention it in this episode as having a vast amount of knowledge, and they used it to help get rid of the Mandragora. I also wouldn’t be shocked if she worked for Joanna and Wendy’s father.

By the end of the latest episode Fredrick saved Wendy from the Mandragora, which seemed to put her doubts about him to rest. Too bad, because something is going on with him! The final shot had him writhing in pain, his eyes and the symbol of his grandfather on his chest glowing, and in an unusual voice he swore he would find another way and he would’t fail him again. So Fredrick did bring the Mandragora over and is working for his Grandfather? Or is he being controlled through magic?

Mistresses: It’s All Blowing Up! Plus Spoilers!

Mistresses: It’s All Blowing Up! Plus Spoilers!

Posted by Dustin on 08.12.2014 at 6:03 pm

So some insane stuff went down on the latest episode of “Mistresses” that changes everything. Let’s discuss!

First up, Dom got screwed and I for one am not crying. He slept with Toni on a drunken night of celebrating her new job, which as it turns out didn’t even exist. She has set him up from the beginning, reported him to HR, and knows the next time he even accidentally touches her that she can sue the firm. She told him this point blank, that she is accustomed to living a certain lifestyle and this is what she is after. I really do want to see her pay, and Dom looked like he could kill her. However I’ve always felt he was a POS, so I’m not really crying for him. He and Savi broke up, and she’s probably going to be beating herself up over choosing this jerk over Harry.

Speaking of Harry… It seems this week he began to realize he may have feelings for Joss, who has become engaged to her new boyfriend Scott. Yeah, I knew this was coming since last season. She will ruin things with Scott by sleeping with Harry, which will be around the same time that Savi will approach Harry and try and get back together. This storyline is so predictable, but I do enjoy it. Joss maybe taking over from Karen as my favorite of the girls.

Karen meanwhile has become way too involved in her latest patient Anna. Shocker! We learned Anna married an American at a very young age and he brought her to the States, then he basically turned into a rapist jerk. Their marriage ended and she’s been trying to make ends meet. She lives in a dump, and Karen of course has basically adopted her. Ohhhhh no, this will bite Karen in the butt as usual. This girl is a scammer, I can just feel it. She lies about everything to Karen, including her escort past, and I think she’s lying about her American husband honestly in order to milk Karen for what she can.

Finally April’s story just exploded this week. She found out the FBI is after her not-so-dead husband Paul. Most of her story this week was minor, her finding out the FBI had bugged her house to high hell, then it exploded at the very end. She went to the FBI to work with them, only to see Daniel there in and FBI outfit. Oh yeah, Daniel is a big fat liar! It would seem he did everything to get close to April and bug her house. The previews for next week had him saying his feelings for her weren’t a lie. The question remains, is he really married or not? Either way, April is still pissed!

Spoilers for the next two shows below.

True Blood: What The Hell Are They Doing?

True Blood: What The Hell Are They Doing?

Posted by Dustin on 08.11.2014 at 10:32 am

There are now only two episodes left of “True Blood,” I believe. After last night’s episode, I do not have high hopes at all for a happy ending. What the hell is this show doing to itself? Let’s discuss.

Thankfully they did not drag Violet’s revenge on for long. Jason arrived and she chained him up with the others in a sick plan to make each one watch the one before them be tortured to death. However Hoyt followed Jason and shot Violet through the heart. Hoyt met Jessica and was completely enamored with her. He grilled Jason if he and Jessica were . . . Jason said no. Jason and Jessica agreed they were best as friends only. Later in the episode he showed up to pay Jessica a visit and bring Bill some clean blood. Something that struck me was Jason thanked Hoyt for saving them and called him Bubba, his nickname for Hoyt, and Hoyt said nothing about this. I am wondering if Hoyt remembers, but is lying to see if Jason and Jessica are still carrying on? Or does he truly not know? Either way, it looks like Jessica and Hoyt are going to get another chance. At least one couple is going to get a happy ending!

Eric was healed thanks to Newmie, who Gus tied up in the basement of Fangtasia. The cure was easy enough to synthesize, but Gus says that won’t make them money. He wants to make a Nu Blood that is only a partial cure, because it will keep people buying it. Eric and Pam agreed to keep quiet about the full cure, they are business people after all. However Eric soon learned from Sookie that Bill was sick and he wanted to find a way to cure Bill. Of course Sookie being Sookie took matters into her own hands. She brought Bill too Fangtasia to get the cure herself. However Bill decided at the last second that he wouldn’t be cured! He had a dream of a life with Sookie. In it Sookie was holding a baby who had a black void where its face should be. In the previews he tells Eric that all they can bring Sookie is a life of death. I swear if they end up killing Bill and screwing Sookie out of any kind of happy ending, I will be pissed. Then again that’s somewhat how Alan Ball ended “Six Feet Under,” which I absolutely hated.

Finally Tara’s story came to an end. I wasn’t too happy with this story either. Lettie Mae and Lafayette were digging up the yard of Tara and her mom’s old house looking for something. The reverend soon showed up and he agreed to take V with them, thinking he would help disprove them. He was stunned when he too saw Tara. Basically as a kid Tara almost shot her father abusive with his gun, which she stole. She didn’t though, she chickened out and buried it in the back yard. Her father left her mother that same day, which is what began her spiral into decent. Tara felt she had to show this, and the gun, to her mother to help ease her guilt. Tara couldn’t pass on until Lettie Mae let go of her and her guilt. Tara, in a way, absolved her mother of some of that. We then saw Tara go into the light. I really thought this was a piss poor end to Tara’s character honestly.

Please “True Blood,” don’t eft up the ending to your show!

Extant Thoughts So Far, Plus Spoilers!

Extant Thoughts So Far, Plus Spoilers!

Posted by Dustin on 08.04.2014 at 11:48 am

So I’m still watching “Extant” and enjoying it, but much like “Falling Skies” I’m looking for answers. As we are only a few episodes in and still setting the story up, I’m not as annoyed with this show as I am with the later. So far all we know is that the Yasumoto corporation and mainly Yasumoto himself is after a cure for a disease that is killing him, and Molly’s pregnancy could be the cure. We still don’t know what happened to Molly on the space station, but whatever did seems to have followed her home. She’s now having hallucinations of her dead boyfriend here on earth! Was she simply drugged? Part of an insane medical experiment? Or is there something else going on? Yasumoto keeps talking about “them” and is making it seem like there is an alien life form of some kind. We also saw some of his scientists experimenting with some kind of slime thing, and it killed one due to exposure to it without protective gear. It has both medical healing and killing properties. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s some kind of space spore or fungus, and they exposed Molly to it.

Then there is Ethan, the little android boy, who seems to be growing into something dark and creepy. I don’t know if I’m supposed to fear him or feel bad for him. The latest episode had the government kidnap Ethan and deactivate him. Have they killed him? Are they going to reprogram him for something as part of their scheme for Molly? Yasumoto and the government also got Molly and it seems are going to take her baby out of her! Holy crap, that’s a major part of this story. Though if the “alien” is now on earth, maybe he/it can get her pregnant again?

Finally the one person Molly felt she could trust, her doctor Sam, has been pulled into this whole scheme by the government and the space program who are threatening her career and her brother.

The show is downright puzzling at times, but it is enjoyable.
