Working To Get Caught Up!
Posted by Dustin on 10.30.2008 at 3:17 pm
Just a little note, lately I’ve been behind with show thoughts and stuff. I do apologize! Currently I’m in a crunch to write-up and turn in a bunch of school stuff; so that’s my priority. Aside from 2 shows last night, which I’m trying to watch at the moment online, I am actually caught up on viewing. One day I will be with writing as well 🙂 I’m thinking with the election next week, Monday and Tuesday will be out show-wise, so this will give me the opportunity I need to catch up and not fall further behind!

So I haven’t been following any “Big Brother” gossip lately, but I did pay attention to this story that showed up in my inbox. Apparently there are rumors there will be another “Winter Big Brother,” but this time it’s a celebrity version! The U.K., which originated the show, has done a few of them. The last time they had Dennis Rodman, Dirk Benedict (A-Team Fame) and Pete Burns (Dead or Alive front-man) as contestants.
Yazmar.com has posted a rumor flying around that for the U.S. version, they’ve apparently signed both Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston to appear together on the show, which begins airing in January 09. Oh my lord, talk about some serious drama! That’s worth buying the feeds for!
Heroes Frustrations . . .
Posted by Dustin on 10.29.2008 at 1:19 pm
First up, yes I have to write a post on this week’s “Heroes” still. There is no show next week, so I’m not rushing it out, as I’m behind with other shows 🙂 Surprise I know.
“Heroes” has been getting slammed in the press lately it seems. I’m constantly seeing headlines like “Can This Show Be Saved?” Also this past Monday it apparently hit a ratings low. Not good!
I posted this on the forum (link at the top of the page) but thought I’d post it here as well, in case anyone wanted to respond (you need to register for the forum). It’s about my current frustration with the apparent re-writes they are doing on the show . . .
One thing I’m having serious problems with is this new storyline that some people like Traci (and company, ie her sisters) and Nathan were “given” their powers through a formula.
The show opened with an eclipse, which is what initially triggered many of the powers in our heroes, so we were told. It was important enough to have been featured in and still in the opening credits. Then in season 2 Hiro went to Japan where Adam’s powers kicked in with an eclipse happened back then. So it seems like they were insistent the eclipse had something to do with triggering the powers.
Now however we are being told some people were given their powers. Traci for example just now discovered hers? Are you trying to tell me she never got angry before this and they never manifested themselves? Or are we to believe this is the first time she got angry since the eclipse?
Also Angela made a comment to Peter that he got his first power to dream the future from her as a child. That was well before any eclipse I would say, that triggered his initial powers.
Then there are the villains that HRG clearly spent years locking up in level 5. They obviously had their powers all along.
I don’t know, it seems like they are trying to re-invent the show and spice things up, but have walked all over the original history of the show. It’s frustrating me. I’m hoping they will explain this at some point.
Lipstick Jungle Thoughts, Plus Lipstick Moves To Friday!
Posted by Dustin on 10.29.2008 at 1:12 pm
First, I meant to mention this in the spoiler post below, but forgot. NBC is moving “Lipstick Jungle” to Friday’s at 10pm beginning this week! Currently “Lipstick” is still in the TV listings for tonight, but it is supposed to be swapped with “Life On Mars.” So if you Tivo the show and it’s not there, don’t panic! Just make sure you record Friday at 10pm. (I’d Tivo both just to be safe, don’t take it off for tonight.) I actually welcome the move, as I don’t have anything but “Ghost Whisperer” to watch on Friday’s. “Jungle” conflicts with “Sexy Money” tonight for me.
Now onto the thoughts. Sadly Nico has been the one character I’ve found myself bored with lately. I think since she and Kirby aren’t having a lot secret love affair, well they’ve become boring. I did however love her story this week with her brother and father, as we got to learn a bit about her past and where she came from. Also there is something going on between her and Grant. Maybe not on her part, but I think he likes her. There seems to be serious flirting with her on his part. I bet this is going to blossom and will cause big problems for Wendy!
Victory, who is my normal Zzzzz character, I’ve been loving. I think it’s the lack of Joe the jerk and the introduction of Rodrigo. Her and Rodrigo are hot together. However it doesn’t take a brainiac to see this won’t last. Joe is jealous, and she was jealous when Joe showed up with the supermodel on his arm. Frankly I don’t think she should have been jealous, but sickened that he’d do that. It was his philandering that was a big reason she dumped him. Also it seems they went the predictable route with Rodrigo, having him have a daughter who of course hates Victory. Boo hiss! Been done in every romantic comedy out there! I loved when Victory stood up to Rodrigo and told him that he couldn’t pick which side of her that he dated, they all had baggage, even him. Way to go! I think she should have gone a step further and pointed out his baggae was tween daughter who would hate any woman he dated that wasn’t her mother.
I’ve been loving Wendy lately now that they’ve given her a good juicy storyline. However at the same time I was banging my head on my desk. I know they did what they did to get her fired and move her story along, at the same time dumb move on Wendy’s part! Not what she did for Noah, but how she told Grant. Grant basically begged her to give him a reason not to fire her, even saying “Say you were planning to hold the movie till his death and release it.” She could have told him that she knew he would be amazing in the part and it would be his last film, that their studio would have produced it. It wouldn’t have been a lie! Again, I know they did this to have her fired and lead to a new storyline for her.
Melrose . . . Coming Soon To The CW?
Posted by Dustin on 10.29.2008 at 12:04 am
Variety is reporting that the CW and CBS are currently rumored to be in talks to . . . revive “Melrose Place.” By revive, I mean redo it much like they have “Beverly Hills 90210.” The original “Melrose Place” was a spin-off of the former.
I don’t know about this at all. I mean while I’m enjoying “90210,” it’s a take it or leave it. Basically nothing else is on at 8pm on Tuesdays, so I put it on. This however could turn me off both shows.
Legend Of The Seeker Preview On iTunes

I really don’t know much about this, I thought it was a mini-series not a show. But as it’s fantasy, and I love fantasy, I plan to tune in at least for the premier. Oh and it’s by the people who brought us “Xena!”
DISNEY-ABC DOMESTIC TELEVISION OFFERS FIRST LOOK AT HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SERIES, LEGEND OF THE SEEKER

Burbank, CA – October 28, 2008 – Action-adventure fans can enjoy a first look of the highly anticipated epic fantasy series “Legend of the Seeker” before its November 1st premiere weekend. Disney-ABC Domestic Television is offering an extended preview of the nationally-syndicated series as a free download, exclusively available on the iTunes Store (www.iTunes.com). The free download, entitled “Legend of the Seeker: A First Look,” will give fans the opportunity to view the first 30-minutes of the upcoming two-hour television event executive-produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, the team that brought the characters of Hercules and Xena to life almost a decade ago.
“Fans have been clamoring to get a first look at the series and, based on the early response from the clips released on the ‘Legend of the Seeker’ website, we knew this would be a huge success with audiences,” noted Janice Marinelli, president, Disney-ABC Domestic Television.
Shot with the exotic and rugged New Zealand landscape as its backdrop, the one-hour scripted series is an adaptation of internationally bestselling author Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth book series. “Legend of the Seeker” explores the adventures of woodsman Richard Cypher (Craig Horner, “Monarch Cove” and “Blue Water High”), who discovers that he was born to fulfill a prophecy of becoming a guardian hero to oppressed people. With the help of a mysterious woman named Kahlan (Bridget Regan, “Sex and the City” and “Six Degrees”) and a wise old wizard named Zedd (Bruce Spence, “Mad Max 2” and “The Matrix Revolutions”), he must stop a ruthless and bloodthirsty tyrant named Darken Rahl (Craig Parker, “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”) from unleashing an ancient evil and enslaving the world.
“Legend of the Seeker” is produced by ABC Studios, marking their first venture into broadcast syndication. Sam Raimi (“Spider-Man,” “Spider- Man 2,” “Spider-Man 3” and “The Evil Dead”), Rob Tapert (“The Grudge,” “Xena: Warrior Princess,” “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “Cleopatra 2525”), Joshua Donen (“The Quick and the Dead”), Ned Nalle (production executive for “Xena: Warrior Princess” and “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”) and Ken Biller (“Star Trek: Voyager” and “Six Degrees”) serve as executive producers.
“Legend of the Seeker” has been cleared by Disney-ABC Domestic Television in more than 95 percent of the country, including all of the top 50 markets. The series will premiere with a two-hour event the weekend of November 1st (www.LegendoftheSeeker.com for times and channels).

Samantha Who Thoughts . . .
Posted by Dustin on 10.28.2008 at 12:30 pm
So I watch “Samantha Who,” but find it one of those shows that it a bit hard to comment on. I mean it’s a comedy, so I find it hard to pick apart and speculate. I have to say though up until last night, I thought this season had been a bit blah. The premier episode had her dancing with her mom in a competition, while the 2nd episode was her deciding to go to Africa and do good. Last night’s episode however was by far the best this season, and one of my favorites of both I think. Sam took a pill that brought back her memories before the accident, and she realized what a nasty person she used to be. She also remembered that Todd proposed to her. OMG! What an awesome thing to introduce. However the pill had a side effect, once she stopped taking it, she’d lose the memories, and the FDA pulled the plug on the pill. She raced to write down the memory, but of course lost it. It was bittersweet as she was just about to stop Todd from moving out, and now it seems she’s lost him again. She also remembered Todd dumped her right before the car accident that took her memory. Probably best she forgot that one!
