I’ve never watched “The Amazing Race” on CBS, but now I might have to. Since “Big Brother” ended people have wanted and hoped Jeff and Jordan would appear on “Amazing Race.” Well a college student saw them at an airport in LA and snapped this photo, which she put on Twitter . . . . (the photo gets cut off, click through for the full one, it’s them!)
CBS hasn’t released any details on the cast yet, but the same student posted other photos of probable teams she saw at the airport as well.
Desperate Housewives and Brothers And Sisters: Calms Before the Storms
Posted by Dustin on 11.30.2009 at 4:26 pm
Both “Desperate Housewives” and “Brothers and Sisters” this week seemed to be setting up the major drama to come next week with the last new episodes of the year. Some recaps mixed in with thoughts below for both . . .
Desperate Housewives
The drama between Carlos and Lynette intensified this week. Carlos and Gabby were prepared to forgive Lynette for lying to them, but as Gabby was making amends, Carlos was served with a lawsuit by Lynette! Carlos then did everything he could to get Lynette legally fired, such as giving impossible work assignments. In the end she was out. I have to say, I hated Carlos in this episode, hated him. What really set me over the top was that he forced Lynette to chose between her job and her daughter’s Christmas pageant, and how he and Gabby would not be going to it for the first time ever. What a jerk to use her kids like that!
Susan finally learned about Bree and Karl. She tried to make Bree see what kind of man Karl was, but Bree admitted she loved him. Susan decided to give them her blessing. My guess is she expects Karl not to change and Bree will have to learn the hard way. I guess if someone is determined to make a mistake, all you can do is try and show them they are making one. Bree meanwhile set it up so an ex-con friend of Orson’s paid him a visit so they could blackmail him into giving Bree a divorce (to associate with other ex-cons could send him back to jail).
Mike faced off with Katherine after she kept trying to use MJ to get between him and Susan, telling MJ how Susan was a bad person for what she had done. By the end of the show Mike found MJ at Katherine’s and she had a big knife (she was slicing him pie or something). He sent MJ home, took the knife from her and was so furious he told Katherine they never had anything, he thought of Susan every time he was with her. OUCH! She told him to just stick the knife in her now, but he said he didn’t care enough about her to kill her. He left and Katherine called the cops, saying she was losing a lot of blood. She stabbed herself with the knife! Clearly she’s setting it up so it looks like Mike stabbed her, as his prints are also on the knife. I don’t think it will work though, as there have been hints Katherine is going to a mental hospital.
The final story, and again the best, was the ongoing drama with Angie, Nick and Danny. The murder of the waitress at the coffee shop caused more issues, as Nick was the last customer. He feared if the police found out, they’d come to question him and might want to run his prints. He suggested it might be time to move again, but she refused to move yet again, she liked it here.
Meanwhile Danny tried to ask Julie out, but she said she couldn’t. He knew about her and his dad, which she said just made things weird, which is why they’d never be. Danny seemingly started to break down. I started to think that he actually was the real attacker by the odd way he was acting.
Danny headed home to hear his parents fighting. Nick had admitted to calling the feds, which Angie was furious about. Angie then said it was her fault they were in this mess, she’s the one that killed a man, she’s the one they wanted. She said they could never go back there. Danny ran upstairs and later Angie found him having taken a bottle of pills. He lived, and at the hospital Nick and Angie had a strange talk. She talked about how Nick didn’t have to come with them, that he gave everything up when he left with them. Nick said he’d do it again. Wait . . . what? They didn’t come out and say it, but I got the feeling Nick is not Angie’s husband nor Danny’s dad. Did Angie kill his real father? Later Danny woke up while a nurse was there and when she called him Danny he said “My name isn’t Danny, it’s Tyler.” I think Danny/Tyler is going to end up saying too much.
Brothers and Sisters
It was a week before the wedding and Nora and Holy were giving Rebecca a bachelorette party, while Robert decided to throw Justin a bachelor party. Meanwhile Scotty and Kevin went to a sperm bank to find out which had the more viable sperm, and Scotty won out.
Holly was becoming increasingly worried about money for the wedding and went to ask Nora for a loan. In the end, Nora gave her the money without any strings attached (aka meddling in the plans). They actually had a nice talk saying they were going to be family and had to learn to trust one another. Though can they ever really trust Holly? She has been a lot better lately I must admit.
Justin got his midterms back, he’s failing and on academic probation. I really don’t like this story. Why send him to medical school to flunk him out? Grrrr! At his bachelor party he had a glass of champagne, which got everyone upset. Later Justin learned about the baby from Rebecca, but also found out that pretty much everyone else knew before him. He was livid. Rebecca wanted to keep the baby and Justin lied to her telling her he was happy and wanted the baby as well. He wasn’t happy though, which he told Robert earlier. Justin never told Rebecca about his grades though, he did tell Saul.
Finally Simon and Nora had been sexing it up, and Sarah became worried. She did some googling and learned Simon had two malpractice suits against him. Nora however knew and said they were both thrown out. Sarah said she was sorry and was taking her issues with Luc out on her mom. Kitty and Sarah both wanted her mom to be happy, if Simon made her happy, go for it. However Kevin felt Sarah was always dead on with these things, he did some more searching. He feels Simon lost his license, which is why he now does research as opposed to treating patients.
I really like Simon, so I hope they don’t once again break Nora and her latest guy up. It seems that’s all they do to poor Nora. This episode was good, but next week’s with the wedding looks to be the shocking cliff hanger of the year. The promo said something about a secret or reveal nobody expected. What could it be?
According to the Daily Telegraph in Australia, Australian actor Grant Bowler has signed on for season 3 of “True Blood.” There is no mention of who Grant will play.
Currently Grant plays Connor Owens on “Ugly Betty.” The world thinks he’s dead, but he’ll be returning from the death in the upcoming episode which takes place in Bermuda.
Once again an awesome episode of “Ugly Betty” this week, and two older storylines over and a few more coming to the forefront it seems!
Most of the episode dealt with Claire and Betty, along with Daniel and Amanda, proving to Daniel that the Community of the Phoenix was a cult and their leader Bennett a conman drugging people through a hallucinogenic tea. I was so glad to see him go, but sadly Daniel’s new assistant still believed in the Community and left with them. I hope she breaks free, or Daniel goes back for her. They were kinda of cute, and though it initially looked like she was bad and in on the scam, she wasn’t.
The other scam artist finally busted was Willy’s daughter Nico. Nico claimed she was trying to get revenge on her mother, who always put her career before her and never had time for her growing up. Willy told her she never wanted to see her again, and Nico said she’d get what she wanted. Looks like Nico is gone, for now. How fitting would it be if she did end up in trouble though after all this?
By the end of the episode Claire had found her kid she gave up years ago and made plans to fly out and see him. Wonder how that will go? I guess he isn’t someone we know after all. Also next week is the big Mode shoot in Bermuda where Willy runs into a very much alive Connor!
I really really hope ABC gives “Betty” another season. The ratings have been horrid, but the show amazing. Part of me wonders if they moved “Betty” to Friday nights knowing this would happen and then they have a justified reason for killing it.

V: There’s A Lot Of V On The Way! But Not Till March . . .
Posted by Dustin on 11.26.2009 at 11:23 pm
This week was the final “V” of the year, and the show won’t return till March.
Ryan, Erica and the Father worked to bring down a major V headquarters on earth. Erica also learned Ryan was a visitor and he told her about The Fifth Column.
Scott Wolf’s character (I still never remember his name!) did a story on the visitor healing centers that have cropped up around the country.
Lisa took Tyler to meet her mother Anna, and he got a big peak inside the ship.
Anna lead an inquisition to find out who on the medical team had betrayed them to The Fifth Column. It was the chief medical officer, but his assistant protected him and came forward as the traitor. The officer was then forced to skin the guy, which thankfully we did NOT have to see.
The show ended with Ryan’s wife informing her that she was pregnant, Dale (I think it was Dale, Erica’s partner) stabbingg the father, and a HELL of a lot of V ships on their way to Earth.
Some thoughts . . . .
Having Ryan’s wife end up pregnant was a good twist, especially since it seemed Anna was planning for Lisa to get knocked up. This leads me to wonder if Anna is planning something else for Tyler?
Also, shouldn’t Ryan have been just a little more careful? Now that I think about it, this twist isn’t so twisty. Anna will find out and want this baby, which is exactly what happened in the initial series.
I’m really wanting to know who John May is. Is it someone we’ve met, or are they planning to bring in someone? Marc Singer Marc Singer! If not him, maybe Freddy is available? Or Diana would rock too! Ohh but I guess she’s not really the John type huh?
That was a lot of V ships on their way to earth I have to say, and well I don’t think there is enough of us to feed them all. So are they planning a departure from the original storyline? Hmmm, maybe I should have marked that as a spoiler? Well if you never watched the original, the V came under the guise they needed water for their dying planet, but what they really needed was food, and we were the food.
“Glee” was on fire last night with the zingers. Some of them were so over the top and un-PC . . . it was awesome! Loved the whole hairography dancing.
Mercedes got back into my good graces just a little this week when she led the glee kids in singing “Imagine” with the deaf choir. It was a softer side of her voice we never heard before. Of course finally getting to hear Tina have a lead was awesome, as was the performance of “True Colors.”
Even though she’s lying to Finn, I couldn’t actually help but feel bad for Quinn in this episode. It seems she really thought she could have a future with Puck, until she realized was a sexual slime he really is. Is he really this bad, or is he putting up some front?
Will Finn still want to be with Quinn once he finds out the truth is the real question. I have a hard time feeling for him because he’s believing this baby lie. Hasn’t he googled this yet to see if it can happen that way?
Only two episodes left until the very very very long hiatus until April 13th 🙁
Castle and Ugly Betty Spoilers For The 2nd Week of December
Posted by Dustin on 11.23.2009 at 9:09 pm
As predicted, the 2nd week of ABC shows is full of re-runs. “Grey’s” and “Practice” are rerunning their season openers. “Betty” and “Castle” are new this week, but I think these are probably their last episodes before they also go into reruns. Lots of Christmas specials like “Shrek The Halls, “Polar Express” and “Here Comes Santa Claus” are airing this week.
Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice Thoughts: Sins of the Fathers
Posted by Dustin on 11.22.2009 at 9:27 pm
So this week’s “Grey’s” was the last one of the whole year. Yes, you read that right! Next week we get two back to back “Private Practices” and then I think they may be done as well, though I’m not sure on that.
Given it was the last “Grey’s” they basically raced through Thanksgiving, Christmas and then ended with New Years. It was a mash-up of holidays. I for one didn’t like this fast-forward scenario because with all the Mercy West and now Teddy drama, it’s like we just are supposed to believe all that drama got put on hold for the holidays.
The Chief took a shine to Meridith and began tutoring her. Partly out of guilt, partly to keep her from telling anyone he had been drinking again. He even tried to convince her that he misdiagnosed himself as an alcoholic. Of course as the holidays progressed, his drinking got worse and it looks like even Meredith can’t hide it anymore. What I didn’t get was . . . where was his wife? He had thanksgiving dinner at Meredith’s without his wife?
Bailey’s dad came into town for the holidays and was furious that she didn’t tell him she was getting a divorce, and she felt she had ruined her marriage, her life and her child’s life over her job. During the middle of Thanksgiving dinner she told him off, that her child was happy, she was happy, and that she wasn’t staying in a miserable marriage and having that set the example for her child about what real love was, that her child and she deserved better. Woohoo! Best part of the whole episode. Oh and that was Sarah Ramirez (Callie) singing “Silent Night” during the scene.
Yang and Teddy worked to find a heart for a young patient whose heart failed her and they had to take out. She was living without a heart and on a machine. Over the months she fell in love with a guy who she’d only been on four dates with prior to all this. HE stuck by her and proposed on New Years. It was a touching story. At the same time Yang was beginning to realize what was going on between Teddy and Hunt. Hunt eventually told Teddy that all that time, he had feelings for her as well, and had she only told him then . . . but now he loved Christina. At the end of the show he promised and pledged his love to Christina, but I still think there is big trouble on the way. Hunt clearly still has feelings for her, and now that he told her I don’t think Teddy will give up.
Mark got a shock when a young woman arrived and said she was his daughter. She was, and Mark had known about her for years, he just convinced himself the mother might have had an abortion. Clearly she didn’t. However the young girl had gotten pregnant and her mother kicked her out, she had no place to go. I found it a bit odd that the mother kicked her out . . . given Mark walked out on her when she was pregnant with this kid! This story sets up the cross-over set to happen in January as Mark needs Addison’s help to save the unborn baby.
Over on “Private Practice” Addison’s father “The Captain” showed up. She wasn’t happy to see him, she was sure he was here having one of his affairs. She had covered for him her whole life, and learned everything she knew about cheating from him . . . as she ruined her marriage with Derek in the same way.
The kid from a show last season that was on the run with his father was back in this episode, as was his mother and her new husband, who the kid accused of abusing him. Cooper protected the kid and ended up in jail for it. Basically in the end, the little kid was lying! He told a lie hoping to get his parents back together, it failed, and he kept having to lie to cover up the initial lie. I have to say it was definitely not the same-old abuse story, so I have to give them credit there. However I was just furious by time the story was over. I guessed half way through the kid was lying, and when it was revealed, I was still furious. I felt bad for Cooper though as he really believed this kid and paid dearly for protecting him by getting the crap kicked out of him in jail.
Finally Pete, Naomi and the genetic guy at the other practice dealt with a dying patient and his pregnant wife. She wanted to deliver her baby early so her husband, who was running out of time, could see the child. Naomi of course was against this, the genetic guy for it. In the end they delivered the baby early so the man could see his child born. I have to say I don’t really like all these ethical dilemmas they set up between Naomi and this new guy. I don’t know if it’s the reason Naomi will leave the new practice, or if it’s going to lead to these two having sex!
So on “Ghost Whisperer” we finally got a bit of closure with a lot of the loose ends they’ve been leaving this season so far. Some mind you, not all.
The little girl from the hospital involved with the Scarlett Stitch letters died of leukemia, but attached herself to Aidan. She was afraid to cross over, explaining how the shadows were haunting her and they made her feel all the bad things she did in life, and it hurt. We learned that the shineys are the shadows foes, and they can fight them off, but only if there are enough reflective or light things around to attract them and give them power.
The girl convinced Aidan to run away to someplace she wanted to show him (I forget why, I think the shineys liked the place) but once there the shadows overtook her and the shineys couldn’t come in as there wasn’t enough for them to get the power they needed (or what not). Aiden saved the girl ghost by shining his flash light on the shadows, which chased them away. In the end Melinda and the girls parents helped cross her over and assure her that they would fight the shadows and do what they could to help the shineys.
Now we got some explanation to these things for sure, but the University Dean’s storyline is still going on as he still warns Eli about the danger going on. Also there is still the morgue ghost at the hospital they have yet to resolve. I did like that they finally told that police detective the truth about Melinda, but Eli stopped short of revealing his gift. I think he likes her and they are setting her up as a probable love interest, which is why he didn’t tell her.
I do have to say, I thought the shineys and the shadows were kinda silly. Maybe it was this episode and the kids, but they seemed more like something kids would think up and be afraid of rather than something really terrifying to adults. The shineys looked like little kid spirits.
On “Medium” Alison ended up having to wear sunglasses all the time because she kept seeing bright lights, but when she put the glasses on, she saw numbers over everyone’s heads. It was a countdown of how many days they had left. She of course refused to look at her own family members. This and a visit from Joe’s dead dad reminding her that Joe isn’t much older than he was or his grandfather was when they started having heart attacks (which lead to their deaths).
Joe became concerned for his health, and when he was told he was fine except for stress, he tried meditating as recommended. This lead him to meet the president of the company on a lunch break, who also was a fan of meditation. The dead dad orchestrated it all so Joe would meet the guy, Joe’s as healthy as a horse. It got Joe’s foot in the door though and he’s been invited to dinner.
Meanwhile Alison ended up having to save Lee from his number being up. It all involved a case Lee was working on with a crime family and a crooked cop.
I didn’t think this was one of the stronger episodes honestly. I did like that we got some advancement on Joe’s work situation though. I always love when we see more of Allison’s family in the show.
