The Client List Season Finale Thoughts . . .

The Client List Season Finale Thoughts . . .

Posted by Dustin on 06.19.2013 at 2:44 pm

So “The Client List” ended season 2 with a huge cliff hanger. This post is more about sharing my thoughts about the finale, and season 2 as a whole. It was one of those two-hour two-episode back to back finales, and I can’t cover it all with a recap without leaving out a bunch of details.

I definitely felt a sophomore slump with the second season. I didn’t dislike it, but it was missing the magic of the first season. I hated that Reilly just dumped Evan all together the minute Kyle came back, and that she took him back. Though Kyle and Evan are now very close to finding out the truth about Riley and “The Rub” so she may lose them both.

Having Nikki betray Riley the way she did for her scumbag ex who was after the list really annoyed me. Even though she did help Riley in the end to get it back, her flip-flopping with loyalties pissed me off.

Riley attempted to save her hide and Georgia’s by burning down The Rub and framing Nikki’s ex-boss and the scum trying to get his hands on the client list. Georgia had the insurance policy so they’d both be able to walk away wealthy . . . . Unfortunately everything blew up in her face. Evan, on a stake-out, caught her on video at the other guy’s club. Fortunately she was off camera when she broke into his safe and stole his gun and the list. However both Evan and Kyle caught her outside the rub as it was burning down . . . with the scum inside who she knocked out and left to die! Uh oh . . . . She never counted on him showing up, she just wanted to leave his gun and frame him for the fire.

Speaking of dead, I have a feeling the jerk may have killed Nikki before he headed to The Rub. If so, that may be Riley’s saving grace and get her out of this. He killed Nikki and then came after her. Of course she’ll have to come up with a story, and explain why she was at his club and on the surveillance tape. I’m sure it will all have to do with helping Nikki out.

I loved Selena this season, she was less of a bitch and more of a team player. Loved her and the cowboy, but she had to go and screw everything up with him in the final episode by dumping him and calling off their relationship. Why Selena why!?!?!? I get that she has a history of not trusting men, but I was really sad by her actions. Poor cowboy was left heartbroken!

Lacey and her husband finally got a baby through adoption, so I’m happy for them.

Lynette told Riley and Lacey that now that she was clean, she was going to move to Texas to open a salon with her friend. Noooooo! We can’t lose Lynette! Maybe Cybil has a new pilot in the works or something? They left it as she’d be visiting a lot though.

Next week starts “Drop Dead Diva” and “Devious Maids.” I’m looking forward to both shows!

True Blood Season Premier: Bilith Is Here!

True Blood Season Premier: Bilith Is Here!

Posted by Dustin on 06.16.2013 at 9:37 pm

So this post is a combination of a very quick summary, along with some thoughts about what was happening . . . I’m writing this right after the show aired on the east coast so I haven’t had time to process it all and give it a lot of thought 🙂

We picked up with the raid of the Authority headquarters and Bill becoming Bilith (Pam actually referred to him as this at one point, and it was awesome!). Everyone fled, the headquarters blew up, and Bilith floated off into the sky . . . As everyone plotted to “Kill Bill,” Eric’s sister Nora was more concerned with one Warlow and knew Jason knew something about him. When he wouldn’t tell her willingly, she as Jason put it “brain raped him” to find out what he knew about Warlow. That was the last straw, Jason disowned Sookie for sticking up for the vamps and took off, vowing to kill all vamps. Nora revealed later that Warlow is in the Book of Lilith, he was her first progeny . . . I have a theory about him, we’ll get to that soon.

Jessica then started feeling Bill was summoning her, and he almost tore her apart in doing so. They took her to Bill, who had superhuman powers. Sookie tried to stake him to save Eric, but it didn’t kill Bill! Bill swore he was still Bill, but also was now something more that he didn’t understand. Jessica chose to stand by him, while the rest abandoned him.

Eric repaid Sookie for saving him by giving her back the deed to her house. She realized she needed to get back to the woman she was before him, before Bill. She then rescinded her invitation to him, forcing him out of the house. Nora was waiting for Eric . . . she is convinced Warlow is important and wanted to use Sookie against Bilith. Eric forbade that, and she realized that Eric loves Sookie. Duh! You just figured that out?

Back at Bilith’s, Jessica realized Bill had powers that even he doesn’t even understand. He then saw flashbacks, what looked to be Lilith being chained and killed. He was summoned to a room where naked Lilith was all around him, and then she entered his body! So my thoughts . . . I think Warlow betrayed Lilith eventually and ended up killing her, much like Judas and Jesus. I think that’s what is going on, and I think Bill and Warlow will end up facing off at some point.

Speaking of Warlow . . . he’s back in town for Sookie and ended up picking up a hitchhiking Jason! Jason didn’t realize he was riding with his parents’ killer until he told Warlow EVERYTHING! Poor Jason, he still hasn’t found his brain.

Other things that happened in this episode . . . .

Sam, Emma and Luna escaped the news station/Authority as well, but Luna appeared too far gone. She begged Sam to take Emma and keep her safe. Luna then died . . . but did she? Part of me hopes not, but the actress was unfortunately listed as a guest star in the final credits. She was in previous seasons listed in the opening credits. I’m guessing she’s dead (I’ve been avoiding all spoilers in hopes that it will make this season more exciting). I feel bad for Sam, all his women die! Though I do know a spoiler about the final book and who he ends up with, but I won’t say that here . . . Sam ended up taking Emma back to Merlots to hide out.

The Governor of Louisiana has pretty much declared war on vampires, but at the same time struck a deal to bail out the Tru Blood manufacturers and relocate their headquarters to his state. Yeah from the previews, it seems he and Warlow are the two big-bads of the season.

Andy doesn’t know how to deal with his fairy kids, and Arlene and Terry refuse to raise these kids for him and told him to man up. However later the kids aged over night to about 4 or 5 years old, so I don’t think Andy has to worry about raising them! We didn’t see the whereabouts of his waitress Wiccan girlfriend . . . yet.

Finally Alcide has fully ascended to pack master and now has lots of hot naked babes throwing themselves at him. That’s pretty much all we got out of him this week.

I thought it was a good start for the season. I hope it stays as good as the premier. Last season was definitely the worst of all so far!

The Fosters, Mistresses And More!

The Fosters, Mistresses And More!

Posted by Dustin on 06.13.2013 at 7:45 pm

So this is another general Summer TV post. I’m soon going to split these up, and start including spoilers for the shows. I’m just still trying to get my feet wet with all of them.

First off, I pretty much gave up on “The Have and The Have Nots.” I completely forgot to watch this week’s episode, and I could barely pay attention to last weeks. Maybe I’ll attempt an on-demand marathon at some point, but right now I think that show just stinks.

I’m loving “The Fosters” on ABC Family. Sure it’s predictable and quirky at this point, but there is something about it that has pulled me in. I still am trying to learn their names, but piano-boy’s (Brian?) girlfriend is gunna do something bad to Foster girl at some point out of jealousy. I also wonder if the cop-wife will end up cheating on her wife with her ex-husband/new partner. That’s out of the “Queer as Folk” playbook mind you.

I’m also enjoying “Mistresses,” as cheesy as it is. I feel like the previews at the end of each episode are giving away WAY too much info though. I feel like I know what is going to happen for half of the season! Given it’s a summer show, I don’t expect ABC to pull it if the ratings are bad (which it seems they are). They probably just won’t renew it.

Finally I watched ABC Family’s new show “Twisted” and loved it! I hope it doesn’t become another “9 Lives of Chloe King” though and last for one season. Though after his mystery is solved as to why he killed his Aunt, what is left? That does have me a bit worried. I also worry it will just turn into a “Pretty Little Liars” clone.

That’s about it for now. I also plan to try and watch the first couple of seasons on “Scandal” over the summer since everyone seems to love that show.

Pretty Little Liars Summer Premier: Five Little Liars?

Pretty Little Liars Summer Premier: Five Little Liars?

Posted by Dustin on 06.12.2013 at 12:59 pm

So the summer premier of “Pretty Little Liars” picked up where the winter finale left off, with the girls all standing in front of Wilden’s cop car and opening the trunk. Inside was a dead pig, clearly a clue. On the car’s computer was the video of Hannah’s mom hitting Wilden. Mona risked all to steal the hard drive, almost getting herself caught. At the time they thought they got away with this, but by the end of the episode A- sent them all a text with a video of them and Mona at the car stealing the hard drive! The next morning, Wilden’s dead body was found by the car. It of course was not their the night before.

Mona attempts to make peace with the liars, mainly because she’s now in their shoes. She’s being blackmailed by A- now too, but the other girls aren’t yet sure if they can really trust her. Frankly, neither am I. It could all be another game of hers. Mona tries to make amends by answering all their questions. She tells them everything she knows. She also offers to give them all her evidence. She explains that she didn’t kill Ian in the bell tower, or try and kill Jason at the elevator, she doesn’t know who did. She says Lucas did a lot under her blackmail, like give Emily her massage. She also says Wilden and Melissa were the ones on the train who put Aria in the coffin and drugged her. She goes to show them a video of Melissa and Wilden, but then her computer crashes and someone deletes it all remotely! Hmmm, where the heck is Hannah’s boyfriend right about now?

The only evidence Mona has left is in her camper. The girls thus decide hide it, but later A- blackmails Toby into stealing it. We find out something was wrong with his mother, she apparently had depression from flashbacks we see. A- promised to tell Toby what really happened to his mom if he brings her/him/them the camper. He of course does. So now we have yet another mystery from the past? Was Toby’s mom killed? Did she kill herself? So confused!

Jenna came to see Emily, she was afraid for her life as she saw Alison the day she died and one by one all of those people who did are dying. Emily then notices Jenna’s hand, which she’s hiding, is burned . . . Did Jenna start the fire?

Wilden’s funeral is held and the liars all attend. Alison’s mom is there, and she’s planning to move back to Rosewood. She seems a little bit cray-cray, but she fuels Hannah’s belief that Alison could still be alive and Redcoat. The other liars don’t think this is possible. So now do we add Alison’s mom as a possible candidate for A-? Not so fast, cause also at the funeral is a creepy lady in black veil . . .

Spencer and Mona get texts from A- about a surprise in Wilden’s coffin. They search it and find a phone inside, which ends up being Hannah’s mom’s phone. Hannah worries this means her mom is A-‘s next target. Mona promises her that nobody will hurt Miss M! Hmmm, again do we believe Mona? Has she changed? Time will tell.

The girls are confronted at the end by a new cop, someone from the State Police investigating Wilden’s death. He says Wilden had files on all of them which bordered on obsession. They say he has that right. He swears to get to the truth . . . A- then texts them “The truth won’t set you free!” As the credits roll we see the mysterious black veiled woman playing with the dolls of the liars, and a new one of Mona is added to the bunch. This woman was at the funeral too, and the girls wondered who she was. She lifts her veil to reveal a china mask which is burned on the side. Is this a clue that this is who set the fire last season, or was she burned in a previous fire? Maybe the one that blinded Jenna?

Read on for spoilers for the next two episodes!

Falling Skies Season 3 Premier Thoughts

Falling Skies Season 3 Premier Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 06.10.2013 at 6:31 pm

So “Falling Skies” season 3 began last night with a huge 2-hour premier. I am not gunna do a huge recap, but just a brief set-up and then talk about some major plot points and what I thought.

The show takes place 7 months after the events of the season 2 finale. I think I spent the first hour trying to remember all that happened actually, and everyone’s name. All I remembered was a new alien showed up at the end. It seems Tom has been elected President of South Carolina/Charleston, and he’s made it a place for rebel skidders and humans alike to live. They are also working with the new alien, whose name is Cochise. He is helping them to try and defeat the Overlords, who apparently are called Efreti (sp?). Unfortunately as much progress as they’ve been making with his help, it seems they have a spy in their midst. Someone keeps tipping the Efreti off on their major moves.

Also at the end of last season, Karen and Hal faced off and she ended up putting one of those bug things in his eye after almost killing him. This made it seem like he was the spy. However by the end of hour two, we still didn’t know who the spy way. I don’t think it’s Hal though. Hal is now paralyzed, and still with the other blonde (Margaret) who looks a lot like Karen but isn’t Karen. Karen however has been taking over Hal at night and making him meet her in the woods for sexy time. It seems Karen has not let go of Hal and wants him back. By the end of the show Margaret found Hal walking in the woods in a zombie state. She knew Karen had done something to him, but they still doesn’t know what. They do know that Hal isn’t paralyzed, something Margaret kept telling him all along. She thought Karen was only making him think he was.

In spite of the progress in the war, some are not happy that Tom is so inviting of these new aliens. Pope doesn’t trust anything human, and Weaver has his doubts too. Conchise is helping Tom build a giant gun, the construction of which is very top secret. Tom finally let Weaver in on it, which didn’t ease his mind. What is the gun for? Even Tom doesn’t know, but feels it’s time to ask that.

One of the probable reasons for the 7 month advance in time was so Anne could have her baby. Anne went into labor and gave birth to a little girl. However Anne soon found herself baffled by her child’s amazing abilities. The kid can already say “mama” and seems to be able to track Anne and others around the room, as if she understands things. Creepy alien hybrid baby! Something definitely was done to her embryo, but who did it and why? Or is this just a result of some kind of chemical exposure that has lead to a superhuman? From the previews it definitely seems the aliens want her kid.

Tom learned via Ben’s connection with the Skidders that a new Overlord has replaced the one he killed, and this one is a human. Tom knew it was Karen. At one point we saw Karen’s spine beginning to glow oddly. I think she may be morphing into an Efreti? We already know the other human kids morphed into Skidders, and we saw some others in this episode who seemed to be some kind of mutants gone wrong.

As for the traitor, I’m not sure who it is. The old president and Tom’s old professor narrowed it down to about 12 people, but the traitor killed him first. I’m wondering if it could be the Max Hedrom guy?

Army Wives Season 7 Finale

Army Wives Season 7 Finale

Posted by Dustin on 06.09.2013 at 10:30 pm

So tonight was the big “Army Wives” Season Seven finale. For me though, there was nothing really big about it. This reminded me a lot of the Season Five finale, where they all toasted to one another at a dinner. We were left with a group possibly saying goodbye to one another with the base appearing to be closed, but later saved in the final hour. It was a happy medium, and an end to the show if they weren’t to get another season. They did however, and now we find ourselves in the same predicament. From this episode’s end it is clear the future is up in the air again, so instead of leaving us with a huge cliffhanger like last year, they opted for the happy medium like in Season Five. There of course were some cliff hangers, but nothing like a plane going down.

Tim had to face what he did to Holly, and with Hector and the others’ help, finally went off to a hospital to get treated for his PTSD.

Denise walked in on Michael and Kat sharing a kiss and was furious. She felt he was disrespecting Claudia Joy. Later after Kat talked to her, she told Michael she wanted him to be happy and she didn’t want her feelings getting in the way of that. It wasn’t really her full blessing, but it was a compromise. Kat and Michael planned to take things very slowly.

Tasha’s husband learned he was cleared to go back to the army, so their future looked bright. Their money troubles, and medical troubles for their son, were in the clear for now.

Gloria knew she had to choose between Pat and Hector. Both men showed her their best sides in this episode. Gloria was advised to chose the man she couldn’t see herself living without.

The end of the episode was Joan’s retirement celebration. She and the family were moving to D.C. for Roland’s new job. At the party Pat’s mom introduced Pat to Kat’s daughter. She thought he could give her pointers about heading into the Army, and maybe hoped for something more? Kat’s daughter clearly took a liking to Pat . . .

Gloria saw Pat talking to Kat’s daughter and realized she had made her choice. However before she would say who, she wanted to tell the man she chose. The show ended with the current “Army Wives” posing for a picture, along with various flashbacks from this and previous seasons.

So we don’t know how Tim will end up, and we don’t know who Gloria choose. My guess is we are supposed to guess she chose Hector? I would like her to choose Pat, only because Hector blew it once with her big time. I think we can also assume Tim will get better.

Was it a great ending? No. Was it better than some insane cliff hanger that would never get resolved if the show is not renewed? Absolutely.

Summer Soapy Goodness

Summer Soapy Goodness

Posted by Dustin on 06.04.2013 at 12:54 pm

So it looks to be a sizzling soapy summer. I’ve been tuning into some of the new nighttime dramas on a few networks. Some sizzle, some don’t. Time will tell what will happen with them.

“The Have and Have Nots” is a new soap from Tyler Perry on the OWN network. This one debuted last week. Tonight will be the second episode. I don’t know about this one. I couldn’t figure out if it was supposed to be camptastic on purpose, or if it was just downright cheesy bad. The show is almost a direct clone of “Passions” in a way, just without the magic. There are the rich families with their scandals and the poor ones, who work as the maids and housekeepers for the rich people. In fact, Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald is in it . . . and she’s a maid. Shocker!

“The Fosters” premiered on ABC Family last night, and this show I really liked. Granted I only watched it because a certain group is against it and trying to get it taken off the air cause it’s about a lesbian couple raising a family of kids and they take in two new troubled fosters. However it was a really good show, and I like a lot of the cast. It did have a lot of predictable soapy moments, but it was well made and kept me entertained and watching the whole hour . . . something the “Have Nots” really didn’t do.

Finally “Mistresses” aired on ABC. This is a remake of a hit BBC show. I never saw the BBC one to compare this too. I basically watched it because of Alyssa Milano. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great, it was your standard nighttime soap. It’s about four women who end up either being mistresses, or finding out their husband had a mistress. Actually in one case I think the guy is actually the mistress . . . not sure what you’d call him?

Revolution Season Finale: The Power is Back! So is Bad Science!

Revolution Season Finale: The Power is Back! So is Bad Science!

Posted by Dustin on 06.04.2013 at 12:44 pm

I honestly can’t believe I stuck through “Revolution” for the entire season, and that it got a second season. I have plenty of friends who love it. For me, I guess it’s more of a love-hate relationship. I love to watch the show and hate on it!

The finale had some nice twists and turns, though some like Neville taking over the Monroe Republic were just too predictable. I don’t know why his son is bothering to follow his dad again, that won’t lead to anything good.

I was a bit pissed that they killed Nora off, but then they have to have a way for Miles and Rachel to be together and she would be in the way.

Rachel and the crew did manage to turn the power back on, which is exactly what the DOD guy wanted. He launched Nukes at Philadelphia and Atlanta for a “fresh start for the United States to return.” He then shot himself in the head.

Adam figured out that the global power outage may not have been an accident, that someone may have used this on purpose. The end of the show showed a shadow figure in the US base at Guantanamo . . . it was the President. His right hand man said that it’s been done, the power is back and it was time for him to go home. So it seems the President, who we have yet to see, may have orchestrated this all for some reason? To have the US become number one on a global scale again?

With the bombs headed to Philly and Atlanta, it looks like Neville’s reign will be very short. I am guessing his wife is still hiding out there somewhere, as we saw her in a house when the lights came back on. Meanwhile the governor of Georgia planned to get her choppers and tanks powered on and wanted to send them to the Monroe republic. I wonder if the bombs will land? Or will there be a last minute save somehow?

I absolutely love how after fifteen years the lights just started to come back on. As if! The light bulbs would most not likely work anymore, fuses would blow, power plants hadn’t been maintained, and where is there a radio station broadcasting for the boom box we saw to even pick up? This is the stuff that makes me hate the show when I watch it.
