Smash Gets A Season 2! Plus Thoughts and Spoilers!

So NBC has given a Season 2 order to “Smash!” I’m actually happy, as I do enjoy the show. I don’t watch it live, as my tivos are recording other things at the same time, so I watch it on Hulu usually. And I don’t always race to watch it ASAP, I usually save it for the nights nothing is on. But I do enjoy it.

I definitely do NOT enjoy the Julia and Michael story. I’m glad Julia had a case of the guilts and put an end to it. I am sad to see they had to fire Michael Swift though . . . something tells me Derek will bring him back. You know this story isn’t over. If Julia ends up pregnant . . .

I feel like Tom is throwing away the nice lawyer guy now that he’s found out that Ivy’s pompous “straight” friend is in fact gay. Suddenly he has the hots for him? No Tom, nooooooo! This is just what Julia did, mixing show business with pleasure.

Bernadette Peters playing Ivy’s mom was of course fantastic. I hope they can keep bringing her back on. I’d love to see other famous broadway celebs make cameos. Calling Tim Curry?

Spoilers for the next two episodes follow . . .

March 26th – THE COUP
GRACE GUMMER AND RYAN TEDDER OF ONEREPUBLIC GUEST STAR – The team deals with the aftermath of the workshop. Ivy (Megan Hilty) remains in the dark about her fate, while Derek (Jack Davenport) recruits Karen (Katharine McPhee) to help him steal the musical from Tom and Julia (Christian Borle and Debra Messing). Eileen (Anjelica Huston) must face up to her ex-husband, Jerry (guest star Michael Cristofer), when their daughter Katie (guest star Grace Gummer) pays a surprise visit from India. Raza Jaffrey, Brian d’Arcy James and Jaime Cepero also star. Grace Gummer, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic and Michael Cristofer guest star.

April 2nd – HELL ON EARTH
“Hell on Earth” – The team begins their pursuit of a marquee star, as Eileen (Anjelica Huston) charges Tom and Julia (Christian Borle and Debra Messing) with finding a title for the newly reinvigorated musical. Karen (Katharine McPhee) and Ivy (Megan Hilty) find themselves in competition again — this time for an orange juice commercial. Relationship troubles abound, as Frank (Brian d’Arcy James) makes an unwelcome discovery. Jack Davenport, Raza Jaffrey and Jaime Cepero also star.

  1. I could not help but wonder why the son was crying so much at the end of the eposide when Julia told him that Micheal was gone. I cannot help but wonder if he somehow believes that he is already the product of a prior affair……

  2. I found that bizarre too. That would be a twist!

  3. I think it was to show that he was stressed about the affair and relieved it was over.
