Glee: Hand What ?!?!? Enunciate Children!

“Glee” finally returned after what seemed like a forever long hiatus. After the last break-up episode, which was a major downer, we got the more upbeat Grease inspired episode. This episode had Artie reaching out to Finn and asking him to co-direct the school’s musical. They then brought in Mike and Mercedes to help with the show and casting. Meanwhile all the new Glee kids, and some of the older ones, auditioned for roles. Absent, and honestly not missed, were Rachel and Kurt. I’m glad we had an episode that focused on the school for once.

This episode introduced us to Finn 2.0, Ryder who is played by this past season’s “Glee Project” winner Blake Jenner. Finn had to convince the jock to try out for the play and Glee club, but didn’t resort to Shue like blackmail.

Speaking of Shue, he and Emma worked things out. Phew! She agreed to go with him to D.C. for a bit so he could do his work on the arts council. However he needed someone to take over Glee club, and he chose Finn.

Finn is definitely going to have his hands full, and Sue won’t make it easy for him. He crossed her several times in this episode. Sue told him not to cast Wade/Unique in a female role, but Wade wanted to play Rizzo. Finn gave him the role . . . which Sue was not happy about. During a confrontation, Finn ended up calling her baby the R word . . . Oh no Finn didn’t! He of course immediately apologized, but Sue is not about to forgive him anytime soon. If Finn is going to lead this club to sectionals while Shue is gone, it may be the toughest sectionals yet! Something tells me Sue is going to destroy Finn and the club.

I have to say, I loved the storylines, I didn’t miss Kurt or Rachel, but I’m not a Grease fan. I just never got into that one. I know most of the major songs, and I know how to do the hand jive. Being in marching band and pep band in high school, you basically HAD to know how to do it. However when the kids were singing that song, I swear they were not pronouncing jive very clearly! If I didn’t know what the song said, I would have thought they were singing about a certain sex act.
