2 Hour Greys: Is It Good Enough For A Spinoff?
First up, the full write-up of “Ugly Betty” and “Grey’s” will come later. I need to re-watch both, hectic night. I did want to open this topic up though. What did you think of sunny California? Was the cast and stories good enough for a spin-off? Would you watch it?
I have to say I enjoyed it. Addison and Tim Daly’s character were hoooooot together, but this is really the last thing Addison needs. She needs to cool it with the men, then again that doesn’t really make for good TV drama. The other characters I really liked, loved Tilly! I can see Tilly being like the shows “Charlie,” never seen but always heard. The one character I just thought didn’t work was the little kid who wanted to pull the Mrs Robinson with Addison’s friend (Grace?). This is why I need to re-watch, I didn’t learn the new character’s names! (I need to watch while not in front of my PC). I’d watch it if it goes to series, but I’d watch anything with Amy Brenneman 🙂

I was kinda disappointed in the Grey’s big 2 hour show. I’m gonna re-watch it tomorrow because I was distracted while it was on. Was it good-enough for a spin off? No, not at this point but maybe my opinion will differ tomorrow.

While the episode was pretty hard to follow, switching back and forth, I thought that the spinoff would be really successful. I like Addison when she’s not going after McDreamy. I also thought her break down in the elevator was hilarious! Specially when she first met Tim Daly. I totally agree with Dustin, anything with Amy Brenneman is gonna be good! I really think the spinoff will be a success.

I would watch the spin-off because I am so hooked on “Grey’s”. It would be the same writers, right?

I would probably watch it because I LOVE Kate Walsh, but I was not interested in their storyline at all. I wish it had put more emphasis on Meredith and her dad and stepmom. That should have been a HUGE storyline and I felt that the gang at Seattle Grace was pushed off to the side to make room for this possible spin off. I think that Addison should stay in Seattle but maybe have some guest spots from her new LA friends.

I’m sure if the spinoff goes to production, there will be lots of character visits between the two shows 🙂

it was ok… it wasn’t up to Kate’s potential… i don’t think that it was a good decsion for the Meredith mommy drama for this episode… i was just wating for the chief and/or/ baily/derrick to fly across the room at him… wait till next week! lol

I was pleasantly surprised with the show. I think the spinoff would actually have a chance. It has the same smart writing as Grey’s. I’m actually looking forward to it!

I wasn’t too impressed with “Grey’s” two hour episode. There was far too little Grey’s and far too much “Private Practice” (spin-off). I felt the characters in California weren’t very compelling. The story lacked a real sense of direction. The acting was so-so, and the dialogue felt forced. I must admit, though, that I am a fan of Addison and Kate Walsh, so if the new show is a go, I will probably watch it. I just feel like there’s more, better story for her in Seattle – with Alex and McSteamy.

I liked it. I wish the show wouldn’t have jumped back and forth so much, but there is definately potential in LA. Seattle Grace will always be my favorite though!

I really liked it too. And just LOVED Tilly LOL. That was hilarious. I’ll watch the show.

Didn’t find the Grey’s spinoff characters interesting with the exception of Tim Daly. He should move to Seattle Grace. While I’ve always found Grey’s to be clever and unforced, the spinoff seemed artificial and very forced. Meredith’s stepmother dying was rushed by so fast, some may have missed it!

I’m not sure if I like the spinoff yet. I like the characters okay, but my fear is they’re trying to make it too much like Grey’s. It will be interesting to see how it progresses.
