Heroes: Let It Snow

Sylar and Hiro from NBC’s “Heroes: The Hard Part”

So I’m not sure what to think about tonight’s episode of “Heroes.” After last week’s action packed episode, this one seemed a little slow. It’s on Tivo and I’ll probably be watching it again later in the week. Anyways, lets talk “Heroes.”
First up we met the mother of Sylar this week. Sylar learned he may be the exploding man after gaining Isaac’s power and showed he actually had somewhat of a conscience. He decided to go home and have a talk with mommy to somehow see if he could keep himself from killing innocents. “Suddenly Seymour, is standing beside me.” I sang that through the whole episode. Ellen Greene, who played Sylar’s mom, played Audrey in “Little Shop Of Horrors.” We learned his mom has always told Sylar he was special and pushed him to be more than normal, whereas Sylar wanted to be told he could just be normal. In the end, he killed his mom and when Hiro tried to kill him, he broke Hiro’s sword! It took poor Hiro all season to get the damn sword and he couldn’t control his powers without it. With two episodes left he better not regress and lose his powers again! Oh we also learned from the new comic that Sylar kills Ando! Hurry Hiro, stop him!
We met Molly, who has the power to locate anyone by just thinking about them. This is the power that will stop Sylar? Hmmmm. I guess they can find him with it. However she can’t use her power because of some genetic infection of sorts blocking it, which is where Surresh comes in. We finally learned his sister had a power but couldn’t use it because of the same illness. We always knew she was special, but this confirms it. So if powers are genetic, does Surresh have one he doesn’t know about? I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s a shocker for the season finale.
Claire agreed to leave town so her dad could win the election, which is in two days. Peter however convinced her she had to be here, they were all destined to help stop the bomb and save New York. Well maybe not Nathan, who is contemplating letting the bomb go off in order to get elected. Claire saw Thompson with Nathan and finally realized something bad was going down, but Peter seems to refuse to believe it. Brother against brother in the finale perhaps?
The big shocker, which wasn’t really a shock, Nathan’s mom is in on this with Linderman as well! So wait wait wait, she’s willing to let Peter explode so Nathan can get to the White House? I’m confused here. By the end of the episode Claire was reunited with Mr. Bennett, but Peter started to acquire Ted’s power to go boom. Actually he already has it, but he can’t control it. Where’s Mr. Invisible when Peter needs him.
Finally Micah was being held by the shape-shifter in order to do something for Mr. Linderman. Nikki and DL went looking for him and found one of Isaac’s paintings showing Micah in the middle of burning New York. Hmmmm. From the previews it seems he’s trying to contain something next week . . . . but isn’t his power controlling technology? What is he doing for Linderman? I am not getting that one. I’d still also love some sort of an explanation as to what in the heck Nikki’s power exactly is. I get the super strength, I get the doppelganger/twin thing. I still don’t really get how her power is useful at all though.
I thought last night Hero’s was interesting about Sylar, but I just didn’t understand, why they needed Micah, and what the big deal was about Molly, so what if they can locate Sylar, how can they kill him?

I don’t get Micah either, unless they need him to disable things around the city to make sure nobody stops the bomb? It looked like he was doing something to the whole city.
Perhaps with Molly they are telling Surresh they want to find Sylar, but they want to find someone else really?

I thought Linderman had Micah picked up so he could rig the voting machines to make sure Nathan won. Don’t know how the kid figures in the explosion, unless he’s just there. The future show mentioned that he was killed in the blowup.

Im totally on the same page with you dustin. Seems like this episode was kind vague and didnt have any real direction.
Sylar:
Sylar being with his mother the whole entire episode was drawn out and pointless. I felt like more could have been found out about Sylar and his story could have progressed more if they didnt waste so much time on his mother. If anything all of that could have been summed up in an phone conversation and without her dying but still reached the same point of him deciding that he wanted to “special” for her and become president. The question is..once he kills ted and takes his powers (im assuming) is claire going to be taking part in stopping him or was her place simply not dying so sylar couldnt heal himself when Hiro stabs him?
Hiro/Ando:
Hiro and Ando following Sylar was understandable, i felt like Hiro needed to see what he was up against or at least get a feel for it, but it could have been way more of an intense encounter. Now with his sword being broken there may be a problem, but Linderman did have other swords in his collection. So will Hiro get another sword from linderman OR go back in time and save his sword from getting broken?
Molly:
I expected more… enough said… come on..detecting others with powers? Give sylar 2 seconds with that girl and she will be lucky to still be standing. If anythng sylar WANTS her powers so he could steal more peoples powers. If anything linderman might be helping Sylar out a bit and wanting him to take out everyone with powers for him. That seemed to be the goal in the future episode…getting rid of the “mutants” or whatever. (stretching i know)
Surresh:
He is letting himself get played. His little revenge mission is a bit overdone and pointless. If he is so smart you would think he would see the bigger problem and that Sylar is a concern, but isnt really worth wasting his time on and you would think he would find out more about linderman by being allowed into the facility with access like that.
Claire/Peter:
I basically just agree with what dustin said, but whats getting me is that why havent either of them wondered why or asked why Grandma/mom knows so much and why with what they are telling her could happen is she ignoring it and fixed on the election??? i would think twice about anyone that not only KNEW about my super powers but ignored it like it wasnt a big deal and not taking the “predicted future” thing seriously.
Also..the moment that claire pointed out to peter that Thompson was with nathan and who he was..COME ON PETER…that should have been it and enough for Peter to think twice about his brother and his mom and whats going on. regardless of family..the whole “exploding man” thing is a serious issue for Peter, but it doesnt seem like he is taking it as seriously as he could and exploring all the options.
Micah/DL/Niki/Jessica:
Its getting interesting for me, Im really curious as to what Micah is going to do. Im glad they are using DL and Niki together and finally connecting them all to linderman and going towards a storyline that actually makes their place in the show mean something more (at least for DL).
For DL it was almost like he had a tiff with his wife they had a little custody issue/relationship because of her split personality thing and then THAT WAS IT. There wasnt much more of tie in for him and a lack of him showing off his powers. If anything i can see him being killed off very easily by Sylar or by the bomb.
Well those are my thoughts.

Sue, I must have missed that, that makes sense!
Casey, I think he might get it from his father. I believe Hiro finds out he’s decsended from the sword guy himself next week.

Dustin, the why Linderman wants Michah wasn’t in this show, but a couplathree weeks back. Or maybe implied, or maybe I just picked up on it in the alt.tv.heroes group on usenet.

Linderman is going to use Micah to rig the electronic voting boothes. If you have followed the interactive stuff from the NBC website then you would know that Hana was trying to put a glitch in the electronic voting system to stop what Linderman had done to try and fix the votes. So since that system isn’t working the way he had originally planned, he is going to use Micah to do something to the system to get it to come out so that Petrelli wins the election.

Oh very cool, I haven’t been watching the stuff on the web I’m afraid to say 🙁

I had thought that when Surresh was showing Molly the photo of his sister that Molly was going to tell him that she was still alive.
05.08.2007 at 1:56 pm
There’s speculation that she may be alive…

Yeah…What I got from the whole Suresh and Molly storyline was that there was going to be more of a connection with Suresh’s sister/father. I guess we’ll have to see though. And Dustin…I totally didn’t recognize Sylar’s mom as Audrey! Now that you’ve mentioned it when I re-watch it I’ll be singing “Suddenly Seymour” as well!!!

not sure if someone already mentioned this, and i only have a few mins til i get ready for school. hehe. but ok…this is my theory w/ micah’s hand stretching over NY. his power is controlling electronics, right? and u know how nathan is down on the last poll of who’s gonna win the election? i believe linderman’s gonna use micah to manipulate the city’s machines so that nathan would win the election. gotta admit, that’s a pretty darn good theory 😉
ok..so i took the time to read the comments above, and 2 people posted the same thing. lol. so i guess that’s what’s gonna happen.

The voting machine thing with Micah makes sense. As for the painting of him in burning New York, it was mentioned by Nikki and Peter in the future episode that he died in the fire. I don’t think there was any other significance of that painting though.
I am loving Heroes and can’t wait to see what else is uncovered! I just hope they don’t take so many long breaks next season!

i thought linderman wanted micha to explode a nuck (or connect to a system to make a nuke explode in the city). i thought the shape thifter was “playing” the part of nathan’s mother to talk him into letting the city explode with out stopping it. the grandmother seemed so sweet and kind in the beginning- now she seems like a viper. i wonder if the father just killed himself.
