Heroes Season Finale: Explosive or A Dud?

Heroes Season Finale: Explosive or A Dud?

Posted by Dustin on 05.21.2007 at 9:51 pm

So it was the season finale of “Heroes” tonight. The bomb was set to go off and our heroes had to save the world. The bomb went off all right, but was it a dud? I was very disappointed by this finale! Let’s get into it.

The beginning of the show was basically a rehash/recap of how it ended last week. There was just so much going on, our heroes were all over the place in this one. I think that annoyed me a bit, I would have liked to see them all working together more.

DL killed Linderman and then Nikki/Jessica got him out of there, chastising him for not phasing and letting the bullet go through him. I thought the same thing myself. She then had to rescue Micah from the shape shifter alone. The shape shifter took on her identity (the bad sister Jessica) and told her she was the stronger one and Nikki should have died. Nikki found the power within her to beat her and rescue Micah. It looks like Jessica is gone and Nikki now has control of her super strength, which formerly only Jessica had.

Mr. Bennet and Parkman got to Molly, but Surresh protected her. When Parkman saw Molly, he did as well. Yea for Parkman! They decided to use Molly to try and find Sylar and stop him.

Hiro had to save Ando again from Sylar, and then dropped him off back in Japan, because this was his fight and Ando had done his part, showing him how to be brave.

Peter tried to go to Nathan for help, which freaked Claire. Claire knows he’s bad, but Peter wouldn’t believe it. Claire ran off, only to be caught by the Grandma from hell (I’m starting to loath this woman!). Peter meanwhile read Nathan’s mind and realized Claire was right, Nathan was in on the bomb to become president.

Peter ran off and almost went nuclear, but had this odd time-traveling dream to when he first went to work for Simone and her dad. We learned Simone’s dad had powers and was one of the Linderman group. He watched his mom talk to the guy, basically saying Peter was weak and Nathan was strong, so Nathan would lead after the bomb went off. HARSH! That had to kill him to basically hear his mom talk about letting him die for his brother to succeed. Then Peter was clued in by Simone’s father on how to stop the bomb, the power of love and some nonsense (why did they have to go get sappy?).

Claire escaped from Nathan and Grandma Petrelli, who were planning to take her away and let the bomb go off. Then Claire and everyone else ended up at the plaza for the final showdown, which was the last 8 minutes of the show. This should have been what the whole show was about, not the final 8 dinky minutes!

Hiro showed up to kill Sylar, stabbing him through the heart. Before he did though, Parkman tried to shoot Sylar. Sylar deflected Parkman’s bullets and pummeled Parkman with them! Noooooooo! Parkman got about 5 bullets right to the chest. After being stabbed by Hiro he did one final power act, trying to kill Hiro by flinging him into a nearby building Hiro then vanished with his own power. Meanwhile Peter, after fighting Sylar, was on the verge of exploding. Claire was about to shoot him to stop him, but Nathan showed up with an alternative. Nathan flew Peter into the sky and the fireworks went off.

The show ended with Molly with DL, Nikki and Micah, Parkman being rushed to the hospital, Sylar apparently dragging himself into the sewers still alive and Peter and Nathan apparently dead. What what what! Why didn’t Claire just shoot him? Couldn’t he have regenerated? I guess the threat would always have been there, I don’t know.

Finally we got a glimpse of next season, Chapter 2: Generations. Hiro time traveled all the way back to Feudal Japan where a small army was about to take on that guy from Hiro’s sword legend. We saw he had a banner which was the tattoo they put on everyone’s necks all season long. Interesting! Then an eclipse happened, stopping everyone in their tracks. Hmmmm, I don’t know if that is supposed to just mimic the opening or be something more, like the origin of their powers? Didn’t everyone discover their powers in the beginning with an eclipse?

I don’t know, I was let down. How did you all feel?

Desperate Housewives - Susan and Mike Marry!
Photo Property of ABC.com

Wow what a shocking season finale to “Desperate Housewives!” Let’s dish!

The show opened with Lynette and Susan helping Gabby on her wedding day, while they waited for Bree to arrive with her something new. She arrived with something new all right, a bun in the oven! We then went back to three days before . . . .

Bree and Orson were at a motel preparing to return to Wisteria Lane for the wedding. Bree thanked Orson for sticking in there with her and helping her raise the baby, which wasn’t his! He said he’d love it like his own.

Meanwhile Edie had a nightmare in which her dead mother came to visit her while she was having sex with Carlos! Her mother warned her once Carlos found out the truth, he’d leave her and she’d die alone, just like she did. As it turned out, Edie was on the pill while Carlos was doing everything he could to help her get pregnant.

Gabby met Victor’s father before the wedding, and learned there was a possibility Victor might run for governor. Gabby was done with elections and forbid it. The night before their wedding she found out he was looking into running. She wouldn’t have it, saying she already married one man who put his career before her and wouldn’t do it again. Victor told Gabby he would never let a stupid woman tell him what to do again! Gabby all but called off the wedding, until Victor’s father talked her into going through with it.

Lynette and Tom struggled with how to get the money to pay the deductible for her chemo treatments. Enter Lynette’s mother, played by Polly Bergen. She had been through breast cancer when Lynette was a kid, she had come to help and to provide the money. Lynette wanted neither, but Tom made her accept it. It seems Lynette’s mom was a drunk and cheated on her husband (Lynette’s step father) and ran him off. Lynette never forgave her. Tom said learning to forgive her mom was her penance for him forgiving her for the Rick affair! A spying mommy dearest learned about Rick, and then got the scoop from Kayla the devil child. Lynette and her mom had a huge fight, her mom reminded Lynette how she once told her getting cancer was God punishing her for cheating on her husband. My how things had come full circle. Lynette said she didn’t cheat, but her mom said she wanted to! Lynette tried to kick her mom out, but she wouldn’t go. Polly Bergen was fabulous in this episode, one of the best new characters added to the show ever.

Mike and Susan . . . well it seems Mike had taken on a whole lot of work to pay for his and  Susan’s wedding. Susan felt she had to pull off this huge wedding to compete with Bree and Gabby, which stressed poor Mike . . . poor being the key word. When she realized how he was working to pay for what she wanted, she surprised him. She pretended to call him out to a late night job, only to have a small little wedding in the woods . . . just her, him and Julie. Finally Susan and Mike married, and we got a season finale where nothing bad happened to poor Mike!

Okay back to Gabby’s wedding. Gabby and Victor did marry, but during the wedding the stuff hit the fan between Edie and Carlos. Carlos found her birth control pills and flipped. She tried to explains she was delaying the baby until he had fallen in love with her, but he wanted nothing to do with her and stormed off with a bottle of booze.

Gabby meanwhile overheard Victor and his dad discussing how politically Victor could go all the way with Gabby as his wife. As it turned out, Victor married her because she’s a political asset. Gabby is basically his Eva Peron. She charms all the right people and makes Victor look good! She ran off . . . and straight to Carlos. Yup, saw this one coming a mile away!

Bree went home and continued the charade, in more ways than one. She had told people Danielle was off at school in Switzerland, when really she was at some church camp for knocked up girls. Bree was pretending to answer Danielle’s emails, telling people how great her new school was. Bree and Orson were keeping her hidden till the baby was born . . . . which they planned to pass off as theirs! Yup, Bree is pillow babying it. I wasn’t shocked by this one either, I kinda figured this is where they were going.

The shock of the night came at the very end Apparently having lost everything, Edie wrote a note entitled “My Darling Carlos” and then hung herself. Noooooo! Not Edie! That can’t actually kill her off. Something has to happen, it has to be a hoax or a trick to get Carlos back. This is just going to be one long summer for fans of ABC shows

Brothers and Sisters: The Party Is Over

Brothers and Sisters: The Party Is Over

Brothers and Sisters - Pool Party!
Photo Property of ABC.com

OMG What a sad episode! Not as sad as last week, but still sad. So let’s get to what happened tonight.

The show pretty much revolved around the family planning an engagement party for Kitty and Robert, but it also served as a goodbye party for Justin, who was headed back to Iraq. Unfortunately Justin was called back 2 days earlier than he thought. He didn’t want to ruin the party and tell his family, because he had to leave the day of the party.

Justin tried to say goodbye to everyone by doing fun things with them, surfing with Tommy, “Wicked” with Kevin, but Nora knew what this was about. She wouldn’t let him say goodbye to her. She couldn’t accept that he might not come back.

Kevin and Robert’s brother Jason (Eric Winter) got pulled into the party planning, but Kevin threw a hissy over the hideous party room Nora booked, losing them the room. They were forced to have the party at Nora’s house as a result. Somehow with Kevin being a total ass, Jason found himself attracted to him.

Kitty had to tell her mom that she was in fact moving in with Robert. Not a big shock since they were getting MARRIED! However Nora was losing two kids at once, Kitty and Justin. Of course they are both grown adults, who had already moved out and moved back home, so it’s not like this was their first foray into the world. It was more the fact she was losing to Kitty to marriage and Justin to war. Symbolism and stuff.

The party got into full swing at the Walkers. They had to put a tent up in the backyard, which collapsed thank to Robert’s drunk relatives. As it turned out, Robert’s family weren’t the classy people one might expect. They were a bunch of wild partiers who were stealing all the flowers! During the party Jason and Kevin argued over Jason’s tacky relatives. Kevin continued to be an ass, which somehow turned Jason on as he “jumped his bones” in the closet.

Speaking of the closet, a HUGE secret about Uncle Saul came out in this episode! An old friend of Uncle Saul’s named Milo came to the party. Saul wasn’t happy about this and tried his best to avoid him. Milo had recently divorced his wife and told Saul he finally accepted that he was gay and came out of the closet. Saul seemed to want to keep that door shut though. We learned they apparently had some “Brokeback Mountain” fishing trips, and Milo told Saul how much he had missed their trips and him. Whoa! I wonder if Milo will be back next season?

Kevin meanwhile got a shock of his own, Jason is a minister! Kevin had no idea. They had a nice chat. It looks like Kevin has finally found himself a nice stable guy, but unfortunately we all know Kevin is not stable at all. Plus Eric Winter (Jason) has a part on a new show come fall, so who knows what will happen with his character.

Nora and Kitty eventually learned that Justin has snuck off in the middle of the party to fly to the army base. They ran after him to try and catch him at the airport. It looked like they would miss him, but did finally get to say goodbye to him. This was such a sad scene!

The show ended with Nora and Kitty back at the party, to find Robert’s family had basically gone insane and trashed the backyard. His family thought the Walkers were a bit boring, so Nora showed them by jumping in the pool fully clothed. One by one all her kids followed. The show ended with them, as well as Holly, Rebbecca and Robert, all in the pool with them. It was sort of a full circle thing, as the pool was the focal point of the pilot as William had his heart attack and fell into the pool.

It was a good season finale, but no real cliff hangers aside from Justin leaving. We still got no resolution to Sarah’s marriage or what is really going on with Rebbecca. The truth about what happened with Rebbecca and Joe didn’t come out, neither did Saul’s secret.

Dr. Burke (Isiah Washington) probably is not leaving Grey’s.

“We fully expect to be back in the fall,” Washington’s publicist Howard Bragman said. “The deal’s not done but we have no reason to believe he won’t be putting on the scrubs.”

ABC apparently isn’t commenting on his status with the show (probably because they don’t want to spoil the cliffhanger!)

Grey’s Anatomy Finale: *%@#$%^!

Grey’s Anatomy Finale: *%@#$%^!

Posted by Dustin on 05.17.2007 at 11:15 pm

I’ll be replacing this with a better write-up when I get the chance. Like “Ugly Betty,” I wanted to get something up for people to comment on. Holy moley what a season finale. I don’t even know what to think!

Burke dumping Christina and then just taking off, what da hell! I did not see this coming. If anyone was going to do the walking out I thought it would be Christina. I don’t know what to think. I wonder if they wrote it this way after not knowing what the actor’s fate with the show might be after the F word incident.

Callie told George she wanted a baby . . . Izzie told George she loved him . . . then George found out he failed his exam! His choices, leave or repeat his whole internship. What what what! Okay again, I wonder if this was because they didn’t know if TR would stay or go (everything is saying he stays, along with Isiah, at least what I’ve read). So did he fail on purpose? I’m hoping they’ll find a scoring error next season to fix this!

McDreamy gave Meredith the big “you are the love of my life, but you keep leaving me” speech. Um hold on there cowboy, you fricken dumped her to go back to your wifey-poo, so shut it! Meredith didn’t seem to be able to give him an answer, but kinda did as she told everyone in the church, McDreamy included “It’s over.”

Addison basically made her case for leaving in this episode, as she didn’t get the job. Meanwhile she urged Alex not to screw up again and let Ava/Rebbecca get away. Will he be able to stop her from going back to her boring husband?

How did Callie get named Chief Resident? No No No! I felt so bad for Bailey! Then in a not so surprising twist, it seems the Chief is staying on as Chief. He tried to give it to McDreamy, but he told him no and he should stay.

Then of course we found out bar slut is in fact Meredith’s half sister Lexie. Of course!

Ugly Betty Season Finale: OMG!

Ugly Betty Season Finale: OMG!

Posted by Dustin on 05.17.2007 at 11:01 pm

I’ll replace this with a more robust write up as soon as I can. I’m going to re-watch the finale as SO much was going on. I wanted to get some initial thoughts out and leave you all the chance to comment on this OMG finale!

First up, through the whole show I started getting the very bad feeling the “death” would be Santos. It was like, oh no, he’s going to pick up something, he’s going to get held up. Sure enough, it looks like they killed off Santos! Why why why! I can’t believe they did this! I felt so bad for Hilda and poor Justin doesn’t even know.

Alexis and Daniel finally had a real bonding moment as Daniel the drug addict broke down in her office, and then faced an overdose and death. As she rushed him to the hospital, she took her dad’s car, only to learn the guy she hired to off her dad had cut the brakes on his car. Classic! They two have been smashed up in a car crash, though I don’t see them being killed off.

Wilhelmina got engaged to Bradford, but their wedding is postponed till the fall (of course cause if it was in July we couldn’t see it!)

Claire and her cellmate launched an escape plan and headed out during a prisoner transfer.  I’m not sure where this one is going. Actually I am, we won’t see Claire again until she crashes the wedding!

Amanda and Christina got locked in the secret room, found Faye’s safe and Amanda learned she was really Faye’s daughter! I did not see this one coming in a million years. This was a good twist. I wonder what the implications of it will be though?

Henry seems to be heading out on a plane with Charlie, the dentist screwing cheating ho-bag! Nooooooooooo.

They didn’t address the whole revenge plot on Ignacio at all, which I thought was kind of odd (unless I missed this part).

It’s going to be a very, very long Summer folks. That was one heck of a season finale though!

Medium Season Finale

Medium Season Finale

Posted by Dustin on 05.17.2007 at 8:03 pm

Okay I have typed this almost 24 hours after the show, so I’m forgetting a lot here! Anyways last night was the season finale of Medium. I enjoyed the twist regarding the re-capatator case. We found out Jason Priestley’s character did in fact kill his wife! Then his girlfriend partner killed the other woman and planted the wife’s head, while Jason was in prison, in order to have him declared innocent. Alison figured it all out through her dreams, but because her secret was outed by Debra (Neve Campbell), nobody wanted to hear from her.

Manuel, the DA, ended up being forced out as his old friend took over DA temporarily. This was the man Alison dreamed took his job! Manuel headed off on a “fishing trip” while Lee was nasty nasty to Alison! I love that these people would call her at 3am when they needed her help, now they want nothing to do with her as she’s the “nut” from the paper. Jerks! Lee at least turned around, listened too her, and in the end Alison saved the day. Too bad Debra didn’t listen to her, as Jason’s character killed her. Fortunately she taped everything, and that was the proof Alison found to prove not only was Jason and his partner the killers, but she was right all along. The show ended with her storming the new DA’s press conference to reveal this.

What we don’t know is A) Will Manuel be back next season or not and B) How will her secret coming out affect things? Will people assume it was the ramblings of a lunatic reporter, or will she admit who she is and what she does and continue to work with the DA?

The other story of the night was Joe trying to figure out what to do about work. Because Alison had been exposed in the papers, the lawyer who wanted to represent him dropped him. Feeling he had no choice but to accept the settlement, Joe tried to go back to work . . . only to find out wasn’t welcomed back anymore! Joe now has no choice but to sue his former company.

And in KITCHEN NIGHTMARES, mercurial master chef Gordon Ramsay of HELL’S KITCHEN fame attempts to turn around floundering restaurants in less than a week.

2007-2008 FOX PRIMETIME SCHEDULE NEW SERIES SYNOPSES

The following new dramas will premiere this fall on FOX:

K-VILLE (Mondays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT): From writer and executive producer Jonathan Lisco (“NYPD Blue,” “The District”) comes a heroic police drama set in New Orleans. Two years after Katrina, the city is still in chaos. Many cops have quit, and the jails, police stations and crime labs still haven’t been properly rebuilt. But the cops who remain have courage to burn and a passion to reclaim and rebuild their city. MARLIN BOULET (Anthony Anderson, “The Departed,” “The Shield”) is a brash, funny, in-your-face veteran of the NOPD’s Felony Action Squad, the specialized unit that targets the most-wanted criminals. Even when his partner deserted him during the storm, Boulet held his post, spending days in the water saving lives and keeping order. Now he’s unapologetic about bending the rules when it comes to collaring bad guys. Boulet’s new partner, TREVOR COBB (Cole Hauser, “The Break-Up,” “ER”), was a soldier in Afghanistan before joining the NOPD. He’s tough and committed, but if he’s less than comfortable with Boulet’s methods, it’s because he’s harboring a dark secret. Cobb has come to New Orleans seeking redemption, but redemption can be dangerous. Will Boulet be able to trust him? Will Cobb’s past endanger them both? Rounding out the crew of cops are hotheaded BILLY “K-9” FAUST (Maximiliano Hernndez, “Law & Order,” “Shark”), who often speaks before thinking; wisecracking JEFF “GLUE BOY” GOODEN (Blake Shields, “Sleeper Cell,” “Veronica Mars”), the team’s comic relief; tough-as-nails GINGER “LOVE TAP” LeBEAU (Tawny Cypress, “Heroes”), the only female on the squad, who gives as good as she gets; and CAPTAIN JAMES EMBRY (John Carroll Lynch, “Zodiac,” “The Drew Carey Show”), who wrangles the eclectic personalities of his squad with equal parts humor and tenacity.

PRODUCTION COMPANY: 20th Century Fox Television

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/WRITER: Jonathan Lisco

DIRECTOR: Deran Sarafian

CAST: Anthony Anderson as Marlin Boulet, Cole Hauser as Trevor Cobb, Maximiliano Hernndez as Billy “K-9” Faust, Blake Shields as Jeff “Glue Boy” Gooden, Tawny Cypress as Ginger “Love Tap” LeBeau, John Carroll Lynch as Captain James Embry

NEW AMSTERDAM (Wednesdays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT): Directed and executive-produced by visionary Lasse Hallstrm (“My Life As a Dog,” “The Cider House Rules,” “Chocolat,” “The Hoax”) and written by Allan Loeb (“Things We Lost in the Fire,” “21”) and Christian Taylor (“Showboy,” “Six Feet Under”), NEW AMSTERDAM is the story of a New York homicide detective unlike any other. He is brilliant, mysterious, reckless, magnetic, unknowable. And he has a profound secret he is immortal. In 1642, JOHN AMSTERDAM (Nikolaj Coster Waldau, “Kingdom of Heaven”), then a Dutch solider in the colony of New Amsterdam later to become New York City stepped in front of a sword to save the life of a Native Indian girl during a massacre of her indigenous tribe. The girl in turn rescued Amsterdam, weaving an ancient spell that conferred immortality upon him. Amsterdam will not age, she told him, until he finds his one true love. Only then will he become whole and ready for mortality. But Amsterdam has found this to be a mixed blessing. Over the course of three centuries, he’s experienced endless adventure and honed his many talents. But everyone Amsterdam meets must leave him in time; lovers and children die while he remains young. His sole confidant and current lifelong friend is the sage jazz club owner OMAR (Stephen Henderson, “Law & Order: SVU”), the keeper of Amsterdam’s secret, as well as a few of his own. As the exhilaration of eternal life has given way to emotional isolation and bitter loneliness, Amsterdam discovers the blessing has become a curse. Bringing to bear the unorthodox techniques and unique knowledge gained from his vast life experience, Amsterdam today is one of the NYPD’s best homicide detectives, sparring with his vibrant, strong-willed partner EVA MARQUEZ (Zuleikha Robinson, “Rome,” “The Lone Gunmen”) as they solve difficult murder cases. But when Amsterdam suffers and then recovers from what appears to be a massive heart attack while chasing a suspect, and DR. SARA DILLANE (Alexie Gilmore, “Find Love”) pronounces him dead in the ER, he realizes that the Indian girl’s prophesy may have come true he felt the pain in his heart that she had foretold so long ago. His soul mate must have been nearby. As he works to find a killer on the streets of New York, Amsterdam understands that his own life and possibly his death have changed forever.

The new comedy premiering this fall on FOX is:

BACK TO YOU (Tuesdays, 8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT): In the 90s, the local TV news scene in Pittsburgh was dominated by one team: CHUCK DARLING (Kelsey Grammer, “Frasier,” “Cheers”) and KELLY CARR (Patricia Heaton, “Everybody Loves Raymond”). They had that elusive quality all news teams need: chemistry … at least on-screen. Off-screen, Chuck was a bit of a self-centered womanizer, Kelly a bit of an uptight know-it-all. So when Chuck got the call to move up to a larger market, no tears were shed. But after an embarrassing on-air tirade ended up on the Internet, Chuck found himself on the downswing career-wise. He even questioned whether his lifestyle of chasing women and living in hotels was as exciting as it used to be. So when he got the call to return to Pittsburgh, to reunite with Kelly and try to take the newscast back to No. 1, it was an offer he couldn’t refuse. Back in Pittsburgh, Chuck has a new coworker in RYAN CHURCH (Josh Gad, “Mary and Joe”), the overstressed news director. There are also familiar faces like MARSH McGINLEY (Fred Willard, “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” “Best in Show”), the affable, endlessly inappropriate sports anchor, and GARY CREZYZEWSKI, pronounced Kre-shoov-ski (Ty Burrell, “In Good Company,” “Out of Practice”), the perennially put-upon field reporter who always seems to get left out in the snow. But, mostly, there’s Kelly, now a single mom to 10-year-old GRACIE (Laura Marano, “Without a Trace”). There was magic between them once. Can they find it again?

KITCHEN NIGHTMARES (Thursdays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT): Hell hath no fury like an angry chef, and no chef has a sharper temper than Gordon Ramsay when things go wrong in the kitchen. The star of the highly rated culinary boot camp “Hell’s Kitchen” returns to FOX with another sizzling unscripted series. This time, Chef Ramsay hits the road in each episode, tackling a restaurant in crisis and exposing the stressful realities of trying to run a successful food business. Inspired by one of the UK’s biggest hits, KITCHEN NIGHTMARES is seen in more than 50 territories around the globe, and the series reveals a whole new side to Ramsay. He’s still prone to the explosive outbursts and spectacular confrontations familiar to fans of “Hell’s Kitchen,” but he also shows his sensitive and nurturing side a unique blend of fury, passion, inspirational leadership and tough love that can coax a small spark of talent into a roaring flame. There’s no time for polite small talk as Ramsay embarks on his mission to turn things around. If the wine waiter’s service isn’t up to par, he’ll be out the door before he can say “merlot.” If the head chef doesn’t match up to Ramsay’s expectations, Ramsay will hammer him into shape, and if he can’t stand the heat, he may quit the kitchen. Ramsay’s reputation is on the line, so there’s bound to be high blood pressure, raised voices and serious clashes as he attempts to do the impossible: turn a deserted dining room into the most sought-after venue in town in just a week.

The following new dramas are slated for January launches:

CANTERBURY’S LAW (Thursdays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT): From executive producers Denis Leary and Jim Serpico (“Rescue Me,” “The Job”) and writer Dave Erickson (“Murder in Greenwich”) comes CANTERBURY’S LAW, a courtroom drama about a rebellious female defense attorney who’s willing to bend the law in order to protect the wrongfully accused. ELIZABETH CANTERBURY (Julianna Margulies, “ER”) is a force of nature. An attorney on the rise, she puts her career on the line to take on risky and unpopular cases, even when they take a toll on her personal life. Elizabeth and her law professor husband MATTHEW CANTERBURY (Linus Roache, “Batman Begins,” “The Chronicles of Riddick”), haunted by the disappearance of their young son, have settled in Providence, Rhode Island, in an attempt to distance themselves from the tragedy and put their relationship back together. But those goals become elusive whenever Elizabeth’s work provides a stark reminder of the justice absent in their own lives. At the office, Canterbury has surrounded herself with a brilliant but motley crew of attorneys. RUSSELL CROSS (Ben Shenkman, “Pi,” “Angels in America”) was forced out of the Providence District Attorney’s Office when he went toe-to-toe with his morally bankrupt boss, D.A. Zach Williams. His reputation tarnished, Russell turned to Canterbury, the only attorney willing to take him in. Now Russell provides a much-needed voice of reason for Canterbury even when she doesn’t want to hear it, his position of influence well-earned by their years of friendship. CHESTER FIELDS (Jocko Sims, “Dreamgirls,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”) and MOLLY McCONNELL (Trieste Dunn, “United 93”) are the associates rounding out Canterbury’s legal crew. Chester is a blue-blooded congressman’s son who is embarrassed by his privileged upbringing and has turned his back on politics. Molly, in contrast, is headstrong, passionate and quick to take sides even if she finds herself in the opposite corner from Canterbury.

At the end of “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” Sarah vanquished the liquid metal Terminator sent from the future to kill her teenage son, John. Sarah and John now find themselves alone in a very dangerous, complicated world. Fugitives from the law, they are confronted with the reality that still more enemies from the future, and the present, could attack at any moment. THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES reveals what happens when SARAH (Lena Headey, “The Brothers Grimm,” “300”) stops running and goes on the offensive against an ever-evolving technological enemy bent on destroying her life, and perhaps the world. Her son, 15-year-old JOHN CONNOR (Thomas Dekker, “Heroes”), knows that he may be the future savior of mankind, but is not yet ready to take on the mantle of leadership that he’s told is his destiny. John finds himself inextricably drawn to CAMERON (Summer Glau, “Serenity,” “The Unit”), an enigmatic and otherworldly student at his high school, who soon proves to be much more than his confidante she assumes the role of Sarah and John’s fearless protector. On their trail are not only threats from the future, but an intelligent and tough FBI agent, JAMES ELLISON (Richard T. Jones, “Judging Amy”), who soon becomes a powerful ally. Directed by David Nutter and produced by Warner Bros. SARAH THOMKINS (Parker Posey, “For Your Consideration,” “Best in Show”) is a bright, optimistic, determined woman who seems to have it all a great job as a children’s book editor, an eager-to-please assistant, BUDDY (Michael Arden), who helps keep her life together, and a no-strings-attached personal relationship with successful businessman MARCUS SONTI (Scott Cohen, “Kissing Jessica Stein”). Nevertheless, as her father, RONALD (Ron McLarty, “Law & Order”), is constantly pointing out, something is missing from Sarah’s life. Her hard work may garner accolades, but when she goes home at night, she is very much alone. All too aware that she isn’t getting any younger, Sarah decides to have a baby on her own and gets the shock of her life when the doctor tells her she can’t get pregnant. Having no concept of the term “can’t,” Sarah wills herself to execute a plan. With nowhere else to turn, Sarah sets up a meeting with her quirky younger sister, COCO (Lauren Ambrose, “Six Feet Under”), and proposes a plan for Coco to carry her baby. They haven’t seen each other in a while, and Coco refuses to go along with such a huge favor. But something happens when Sarah mentions that she’s turned Coco’s imaginary childhood friend, Jezebel James, into a children’s book. Even though she doesn’t say so out loud, Coco is clearly touched, and, realizing that her current living situation sharing a couch with her friend’s sick dog isn’t working out, Coco decides that this just might be worth a try.

THE RULES FOR STARTING OVER (working title) (Date and Time TBA): From the creatively fruitful minds of the Farrelly Brothers comes a single camera comedy, set in Boston, about a group of newly single friends learning the painful lessons of starting over in their 30s. They’d all love to get remarried, if they could just find their true loves. JACK “GATOR” GATELY (Craig Bierko, “Cinderella Man,” “Boston Legal”) is a charismatic, optimistic leader who never expected to be single again. But now that he is, he’s determined to make the best of it. He’s going to sift through all the bruised, damaged, occasionally psychotic fruit until he finds “the one.” Joining Gator in bachelorhood redux is his thrice-divorced best friend TOMMY (Johnny Sneed, “The Guardian,” “Fever Pitch”). The founder and brewmaster of an upstart microbrewery, Tommy has a voracious appetite for food, beer and women. He falls in love easily and always disastrously, yet truly hopes his fourth starter marriage will be “the one.” DR. FREDDY SAHGAL (Shaun Majumder, “24,” “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle”) has seen some pretty strange stuff during his years as a successful surgeon, but he’s never seen any of it through the eyes of a single man. Probably the least equipped of the group to handle this unexpected life change is Dr. Freddy, who can execute a triple bypass in his sleep, but is all thumbs when it comes to the opposite sex. Rounding out the group is KATE (Rashida Jones, “The Office”), a smart, successful attorney who handled all three of the boys’ divorces. Having just turned 30, Kate finds herself dumped after a seven-year engagement. She reluctantly joins the guys in negotiating the treacherous waters of dating. Kate owns the brownstone next to Gator’s. Over time, this pair may find that “the one” is just a brick wall away.

CW Schedule: Updated

Posted by Dustin on 05.17.2007 at 12:13 pm

The CW unveiled its new fall schedule today, and “Veronica Mars” is unfortunately NOT on the fall schedule. Some are saying the show is dead, others say we may know next month if it will be a mid-season replacement.

Kristen Bell, the star of VM, is supposedly set to be the narrator/voice over in a new CW drama “Gossip Girl,” which is about an anonymous blogger who writes about preppy rich girls in Manhattan. It’s based on a series of books and comes from “The O.C.” creator Josh Schwartz.

The full fall schedule has been added after the fold (I’ll post the whole big long PR later tonight). Also note, “One Tree Hill” won’t be back till mid-season next year!
