American Farce? (Update)

American Farce? (Update)

Posted by Dustin on 05.16.2007 at 9:10 pm

So this is the first time I’ve ever watched from start to well this far of “American Idol.” Most people haven’t liked this season much, and some of my friends boycotted the show after last season, which they were convinced was rigged after Chris got the boot.

After tonight’s show with Melinda going home, I am thinking this show is rigged too. Melinda was the best and most spot on singer of the show, she should have been in the final two. Blake and Jordin are more pop friendly, I think that is why they are there. Hey let’s be honest here, the last few winners of “American Idol” haven’t exactly had blockbuster record sales. This show needs an idol that will sell records to the younger audience out there. Only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have actually made it. As for the others, it seems the runners up in those seasons had more luck!

I don’t think I’ll be watching “American Idol” next season after this. I’m so disappointed. When Melinda puts her album out, I’ll buy it just cause.

*updated* Dang I didn’t expect people to get so fired up over me liking Melinda lol.

American Idol does need to change, that was made oh so clear this season with the Sanjaya fiasco. I think they need to change how votes are counted for one (but they won’t cause every text message vote is money in their pockets).

If I have to pick I want Jordin to win over Blake. Sorry Blake fans

Reality TV Thoughts And Summer Shows

Reality TV Thoughts And Summer Shows

So Ian went home this week on “Dancing With The Stars.” I’m just glad Joey was safe after last week. I actually got on, registered and spent all five votes on him! Last night the final 3 performed on “American Idol.” Melinda rocked the house, while both Jordin and Blake were very good. I don’t know, it’s a tough call as to who will go home tonight. I’ll update after the show with my thoughts.

I fell behind in my Bravo shows. I got bored with “Workout,” but did catch up with the reunion special last night. I also got caught up on “Shear Genius” last night, the new episode comes on tonight.

I have to admit there are some guilty pleasures coming up this summer I will be tuning into. In June on Bravo is “Kathy Griffin’s Life On The D-List” which I’ll watch, just because she’s so outrageous. Then there is the Paula Abdul reality show. Oh yeah, you know that’s going to be fun! One of my online friends joked “Hey we can get drunk with Paula!” I think Paula might win out every time. Also in June, “Top Chef 3” hits Bravo. I only got into the last one at the very end, just because of the hype over the whole “Marcel fiasco.” I’ll probably tune in, I like watching cooking shows anyways. On NBC there is “America’s Got Talent.” I don’t know if it will be as fun as last season, we’ll see. Finally the guilty pleasure of the summer, starting Memorial Day weekend on E! is “Simple Life 4.” Now I’ve never been able to sit through a whole season of the show ever, but this time Paris and Nicole are friends again and counselors at a camp. The shows with them interacting with kids were always the most entertaining, so this could be good. The promos have the camp head saying “You two are going to drive me to drink!”

Housewives Finale Spoiler!

Housewives Finale Spoiler!

Marc Cherry appeared on “The View” this week and said in the last 5 minutes of the upcoming season finale that he would do the most shocking thing he’s ever done on the show, and it would involve a death!

I think that we will learn Edie killed her mom 🙂 Edie’s mom is supposed to appear, but only in a flashback/dream. That or someone will have killed off “Austin” for knocking Danielle up!

Football Wives Done In By . . . Football?

Football Wives Done In By . . . Football?

Posted by Dustin on 05.15.2007 at 8:33 pm

Digital Spy is reporting that the ABC show “Football Wives,” which appeared a shoe in for a pick up, may have gotten dropped due to . . . Football! It seems the NFL had an issue with the show, and ABC has a lucrative deal with the NFL on ESPN.

Lucy Lawless, who was to star as Tanya Austin, has a great quote on her  Official Fanclub Site

One conspiracy theorist suggested that ABC and ESPN are owned by the same people and so our portrayal of some players and their wives as wretched Ho’s engaged in drug-fuelled skulduggery was incompatible with life.  Bummer. Sounds like a surefire hit to me.

Digital Spy indicates though that the show will be shopped around to other networks. Here is hoping the show finds a home somewhere, as I was really looking forward to it.

The Bionic Woman: I’m Sold!

The Bionic Woman: I’m Sold!

Posted by Dustin on 05.14.2007 at 11:09 pm

The Bionic Woman

So I have to admit, when NBC first announced the remake of “The Bionic Woman” I was a bit skeptical. I mean the original was a classic, you don’t mess with classics. It could have turned out to be one huge disaster. However after watching the video preview over at NBC.com, I have to say I’m sold. I cannot wait for this show to start airing!

Now they have changed a few things. For starters, there is no bionic man, well not yet. The original was a spin-off of “The Bionic Man” and Jamie was his girlfriend. In this one she’s the girlfriend of a professor of bionics, he saves her after a car crash. The bionic parts are all there though: legs, an arm, an eye and and ear.

Jaime has a little sister she takes care of in this one, and unlike the original, she doesn’t seem to lose her memory after waking up bionic. The best part of course is the bionic villain, who is played by none other than Katee Sackhoff, who many may recognize as Starbuck on the new “Battlestar Galactica.”

Head over to http://www.nbc.com/Fall_Preview/Bionic_Woman/ and watch the video preview and judge for yourself.

Linderman Bites The Big One
Photo Property of NBC.com
So tonight’s episode was far from the slow episode of last week. We got excitement and violence galore tonight. Let’s get to it. (Tired as I write this one up, so I may be missing a lot!)

The episode started out with Peter gaining the power to go “boom” from Ted. Try as they might to hide Ted from Sylar, Sylar got his hands on Ted. Ted was the first, but not the last, casualty in this episode.

Mr. Bennett and Parkman attempted to track down the source of the tracking device implant/tattoos. In the process of breaking in to get to it, Mr. Bennett killed Thompson (Eric Roberts). Another one bit the dust. Then Parkman was shocked to realize the tracker was actually a person. Not only a person, a little girl named Molly. Molly recognized Parkman as the nice cop who saved her. Mr. Bennett however was ready to kill Molly to save his own daughter! Surresh had a gun on Mr. B, who had a gun on Molly. Now from previews Molly and Surresh are fleeing next week. I am wondering if Mr. B will get it? I hope not as I really like his character. We’ve had enough death in this episode alone!

Hiro went to fix his broken sword, only to come face to face with his father . . . who had been watching him the whole time. Hiro’s dad has always known of his mission. Hiro learned of his family’s lineage and then got some training as a swordsman. Yup, Mr. Sulu trained his kid on how to kill Sylar!

Meanwhile we did indeed learn Micah was used to rig the election this week, and Peter won in a landslide. I’m still confused here though. He did it all from a voting booth, so again, what is he doing with his hands raised on a roof top as if he’s manipulating the whole city? Guess we’ll find out next week! Maybe it has something to do with the tracking devices?

Linderman was back in this episode and healed Nathan’s wife. She was wheelchair bound, now she can walk. This was a total bribe to get Nathan to go along. We also learned Nathan and Peter’s father was one of Linderman’s team members, but was weak according to Linderman and couldn’t do what he needed. Something is still going on here that we haven’t been told. I’m foreseeing a father-sons reunion next season maybe? The mom is obviously so in on it all as well, she’s lying about something. Also this week Hiro confronted Nathan for help stopping the bomb and the “bad future,” only to learn that Nathan isn’t just a villain in the future, he’s a villian right now! Power and greed has corrupted poor Nathan it seems. I’m having a bad feeling Nathan might bite it in the finally.

Finally we get to DL and Jessica/Nikki, who went in search of Micah and confronted Linderman. Linderman bribed Jessica to kill DL and Micah, but in the end she sided with her family . . . finally overcoming her inner demons. Linderman then shot DL, but not quick enough. In one of the nastiest scenes of the season, DL reached into Linderman’s head and crushed his brain! Yup, Linderman’s a goner. Dang! However DL’s fate after being shot is not known. Noooooo, not DL too!

The show ended with the creepy Sylar practicing his exploding technique.

Honestly, there is still SO much that has to be done, and only an hour left to do it next Monday. HOW are they going to wrap this one up?

Heroes: Origins

Heroes: Origins

Posted by Dustin on 05.14.2007 at 5:24 pm

Okay here is the dish. Next season there will be 30 episodes of “Heroes.” 24 episodes will be the regular show, 6 will be the spin-off “Heroes: Origins”. These shows will feature new characters and their stories. The goal is to have the most popular win an online vote and become a new cast member of the show.

What isn’t yet known is how they will schedule the spin-off. Will they put it on a different night, or break-up “Heroes” every few weeks to show “Origins?”
