CBS has announced the following new pick-ups. “Cane,” “Moonlight,” “Viva Laughlin,” “Swingtown” and “The Big Bang Theory.” “Power of 10,” which is a game show, is said to be an alternate.
I have to admit, I’m not a CBS watcher that much, I haven’t been following these. I know Swingtown is their basic attempt at a “Big Love” type of show, but set in the 70s and is about swingers. “Viva Laughlin” is produced by Hugh Jackman. This is supposed to be an American version of the musical show Viva Blackpool, which airs on BBC. I tried real hard to watch the original, I couldn’t do it. Basically think “Cop Rock” and you get the gist of how the show will be a musical.

So “Desperate Housewives” kicked off with Susan and Mike sharing a romantic dinner, but Susan expected a proposal . . . which didn’t seem to be coming. After she blew up at him, basically making a fool of herself as usual, Mike had planned to propose to her back at her house. Before he could propose though, Susan did!
This of course led to problems for poor Susan. She had to uncanceled all her wedding plans, only to find out that Gabby had stolen them for her own wedding! Okay #1 Gabby was a terrible friend for stealing Susan’s wedding. That was scummy of her. However #2, why should poor Mike have to settle for Susan’s wedding to Ian? He should be offended! He should get his OWN wedding with Susan that is just theirs.
Susan threw a fit over Gabby stealing her plans, but they eventually both apologized to one another. They then decided to have a double wedding . . . only to decide the next morning that isn’t what they wanted. However they didn’t want to hurt one another. Mike told Susan to claim he didn’t want to share their day, while Victor basically told Gabby that he was NOT sharing his wedding with a criminal. He showed his crummy side once again, basically the wedding is a political stunt for him and nothing more. While Susan was more sure than ever about her future with Mike, Gabby seems to be having doubts about Victor.
Elsewhere, Tom tried to trick Lynette into marriage counseling, the counselor was an old friend of his. This however infuriated Lynette when she found out . . . and rightly so. Later though Tom and Lynette got into a HUGE fight. Lynette admitted she had feelings for Rick. During their fight, Lynette pounded on Tom’s chest, hurting his back. He reacted by throwing her off him, and she hit her head on a table. This lead them both to the hospital where it appears Lynette might have cancer. I guess we can see how their marriage will be saved. Nothing like a death scare to do that.
Finally we come to Edie and Carlos. Edie had Carlos evicted, by telling his land lady he was a drunk and frequently picked up hookers, in order to get him to move in with her. He gave her a shock when he told her that he liked her, he didn’t love her. OUCH! I knew he still was holding onto his love for Gabriel. Edie then told Carlos she might be late, but it turned out she wasn’t pregnant. However it seemed they both want a kid, they aren’t getting any younger . . . so they made a deal to try and have a kid together. Oh boy, this is going to lead to NOTHING good. I have to say I’m not liking Edie right now. She is a schemer, but I feel she’s better than this. She’s using everything to hold onto Carlos, who has made it clear he doesn’t love her. The Edie I know at least has some pride!
Next week is the season finale. It’s Gabby and Susan’s wedding, Susan’s wedding being a spur of the moment thing. Bree returns, and has a BIG surprise. Lynette’s mom comes to town to help her deal with her cancer scare. Gabby learns a big secret about her new husband (why do I foresee her running and sleeping with Carlos?)
This was the saddest episode of “Brothers and Sisters” EVER! Let’s deal with the non-sad parts first.
Senator McAlister ended up being blackmailed over what really happened on the helicopter. It turns out the Senator wasn’t very heroic after all and wanted to flee, leaving the stranded men behind. A man at the base overheard this on the radio. Kitty however kept what was going on from him, he never met the blackmailer, and turned to Kevin for help. Though he despises the Senator, Kevin helped her and basically blackmailed the blackmailer into keeping quiet! I was actually proud of Kevin. I’m sure this will facilitate something between Kevin and McAlister’s brother as well.
Later Kitty and the Senator had a heart to heart. She wanted him to consider her proposal still on the table, but he surprised her with a ring and a proposal. She accepted. Now I have to wonder if this helicopter thing is going to come back at some point to bite Kitty in the butt. I have a feeling someone else will try and milk it, or expose it, and the senator will not be happy that Kitty knew and tried to cover it up.
Sarah and Joe decided to separate this week. I’m still a bit miffed, no make that pissed, that the truth about Rebbecca hasn’t come out yet. Meanwhile Nora had a talk with Rebbecca, it seems something happened back in Chicago she doesn’t want to talk about. It was made out to be something bad, but from Holly’s comments about her daughter, I wonder if she was a home wrecker out there as well.
Finally the sad sad, SO SAD part of the night. Tommy and Julia’s twins were born very premature. They named the boy William and the girl Elizabeth. However it was not known if either would survive. The girl began to do well, the boy not so good. He would probably need a transplant (liver or kidney I think) to survive, and his best match was his sister. However Tommy and Julia made the decision not to put the other twin in danger, to hope for a miracle or another donor. Neither happened and little William died.
Sniff Sniff . . . it was heartbreaking!
Next week is the big season finale. Justin prepares to ship out to Iraq, the family throws Kitty an engagement part which she doesn’t want, and a big secret about Saul comes out!
The Hollywood Reporter and other media outlets are reporting that ABC has picked up “October Road” for next season, ordering 13 episodes.
Of the new pilots said to have been ordered, they include “Dirty Sexy Money,” “Eli Stone,” “Cavemen,” “Carpoolers,” Cashmere Mafia,” “Pushing Daisies,” “Big Shots,” “Private Practice,” “Women’s Murder Club” and “Sam I Am.”
“Football Wives” isn’t on this list 🙁 The official announcement is expected early early Tuesday morning from ABC about their 07-08 season line-up.
I’m working on some new additions to this page. First up, I’m looking for some more colorful themes for it. I’ve found a few that may work, I just have to tinker with them. It was my goal to have some custom made ones, but the one place I knew that did good work and relatively cheaply seems to have closed up shop. If anyone knows any good blog designers, please let me know!
I got my laptop TV tuner card working, but I think I need some better TV software in order to capture images. I don’t think the default Windows Media Center will cut it. I’ll be making a trip to Best Buy to see what is out there.
Finally I have a licensed chat room, so I am thinking of adding a chatroom to this page. That could be fun to do chats while shows are going on, but I have to figure out the room situation. It wouldn’t work so well if people logged on and were watching different shows on different stations!
So the season finale of Ghost Whisperer was Friday. I dunno, it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be to be honest. I was expecting something huge as they kept hinting at this big bad dark following Melinda around.
Most of this episode centered around Melinda trying to find out the fifth tragedy and dealing with all the “special” children. It became apparent that the tragedy had something to do with the ceremony honoring the victims of the plane crash the year before. However the show dragged on and when it got to the final 15 minutes I began thinking “Okay how are they going to resolve this, the clock is ticking here.”
However the final 15 minutes were the best of the whole show! Melinda was killed and went into the light, where she met a strange shadowy figure. This figure was obviously not a good person though, they wanted her to know her other half, her dark half . . . . her brother! The little kids brought Melinda back though, angering this figure. We then learned her death was really the 5th sign, and that the figure was her father. Melinda has a brother!
Okay so it’s obvious her brother is Gabriel. Is he a twin though? We know her father left, maybe he had another kid with another woman? Though the powers seem to be with Melinda’s mother and grandmother. Also now that the fifth sign has come to pass, what does this mean? They seemed to drop the whole dead taking over the world story, well for now.
Masi Oka (Hiro) told SciFi Wire we’d get a sneak peak at the next season of “Heroes” in the upcoming finale. Vol 1 was called Genesis . . . Vol 2 will be Generations.
So folks, start the speculation game! My guess is obviously it will be about delving into the origins of their powers, as we’ve learned it’s an inherited thing. Obviously it stems from somewhere, but where and who?
Various media outlets are reporting that NBC has picked up “The Bionic Woman” and “Lipstick Jungle,” which is based on a series of books by the author of “Sex And The City” Candace Buschnell. “Lipstick Jungle” stars Brooke Shields, Lindsey Price and Kim Raver.
Meanwhile ABC is said to have picked up “Football Wives” which is based on the BBC drama “Footballers Wive$.” This is the one show I’m most looking forward to next season . . . I better not be let down!
Of course, the official line-ups and confirmation will come from the networks next week 🙂
The New York Times is saying that NBC has renewed “Friday Night Lights” but it looks like “Scrubs,” “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and “Crossing Jordan” are probably goners. The network is set to unveil the new fall schedule on Monday.
