Ralph Machio, best known as the Karate Kid, is expected to guest star on an upcoming episode of “Ugly Betty.” Ana Ortiz (Hilda) mentioned his guest stint on the show in an interview with USA Today. With Hilda’s current love Coach Diaz (Eddie Cibrian) only on for the first few episode, could Ralph be her new love interest?

Army Wives: You Have The Right To Shut Up!

Army Wives: You Have The Right To Shut Up!

Posted by Dustin on 09.23.2008 at 7:01 pm

The show picked up this week where it left off, with Claudia Joy clubbing Paulo over the head with a wine bottle and then calling for help, fearing she had killed him. She hadn’t, but unfortunately that pesky little “Diplomatic Immunity” he had also meant there was nothing that could be done. Called that one!

A woman from the government came to see Michael to basically tell him all they could do was strip Paulo of his visa, it was up to his home country to punish him, which they claim they would. Michael knew that was a crock of . . . so did the lady. Things got much worse though, the deal for the whole army base lease was still on. Paulo made it a condition that Michael be present at the signing ceremony, and the Pentagon ordered Michael to be there!

Claudia Joy told Michael, after learning about the whole ceremony, that he had to go as it was his duty and hers to support him. She said she had to accept that they could not do anything to Paulo, that he’d get away with this. He didn’t think that was fair, he was Army, she wasn’t. She said when she married him she became Army.

Claudia Joy continued to try and keep everything inside, to say it was no big deal. However when she was with Denise, she finally broke down and admitted how dirty she felt, that she could still feel Paulo’s hands all over her no matter how many showers she took.

Claudia Joy somewhat got her revenge. The day of the ceremony Michael went, shook Paulo’s hand for the cameras, but then quickly left. Claudia Joy showed up and gave Paulo a look while he was on stage for the world, which shook him to the core. I get that she was telling him that he had not won, that she would not be another victim . . . but I still would have liked to have seen him go to jail. Michael also gave Paulo what he deserved, he dropped by his hotel room at the end of the show and decked him. I’m hoping this will not have ramifications for Michael. The last thing we need after this storyline is Michael ending up punished.

Roxy found Trevor back at home, passed out on the couch. He told her he had an accident, and he realized now he had a problem. He swore he would not take the pills anymore, but he needed her support. He wanted to do this on his own, which was just a bad statement from an after school special! He claimed he could do this, even dumping the pills he had left down the sink.

The wives all headed to the hospital to support Roland. While the baby was fine, Joan was still bleeding out and in danger. It didn’t look good, she needed a transfusion, but they were short her blood type. There were some soldiers back from Iraq who could donate, but only with his permission as it was a risk. Roland permitted it.

Roxy returned home to get Trevor, knowing he was O Negative. She narrowly missed Trevor unscrewing the kitchen sink pipes to get the pills he washed down them. To me this scene was a direct rip off of “Desperate Housewives” and Mike last season, who did the same thing. I just didn’t understand why the show would do that. Was it a nod to another “wives” show? I don’t know, but I felt it cheapened “Army Wives” a little.

Roxy brought Trevor to donate, but Roland refused, not sure he could trust that Trevor hadn’t used in the past 24 hours. Trevor was hurt, as was Roxy. She said they would have screened his blood anyway. Roland eventually apologized, and Joan was saved by two other soldiers who donated.

Trevor visited Joan to see how she was doing. She in turned asked how he was handling things. He said he was off the meds and working through it with his family. However when a nurse came in with a med cart, he stole some Vicodin.

Trevor was to be awarded the Silver Star and thought he needed the pain meds to get through the ceremony without the world knowing something was wrong. However before the ceremony the kids talked to Trevor and told him how they wanted to be like him when they grew up, except for the cranky, yelling and throwing things part. Trevor finally went to Roxy and told her how he stole drugs, and how he realizes now he needs help. She promised they’d get him help.

I’m just glad this storyline ended without tragedy. Also kudos to Drew Fuller for pulling off a good drug addict with his quirky mannerisms. Maybe “Army Wives” will see some Emmy love next year! There have been so many good performances this season all around.

Continuing on . . . Denise rented a house to get away this week to try and find some clarity and purpose, as well as sort through her feelings about Frank. I see this as the calm before the storm, before tragedy hits her family.

Finally this week seems to have brought the conclusion to Pam’s stalker storyline. Tim called the station while she was on air, telling her she wouldn’t be able to keep her kids safe forever. Pam flipped and threatened to gun him down if he came near her or her kids again!

Later while at Betty’s a man sat next to her and started talking to her. He claimed his name was Dean and he was married. He said his wife was in the army and turned him onto her show, they were both real fans. He got up to leave, but Pam knew exactly who he was. She had Roxy call the cops then she confronted him as he was trying to slip away. He seemed intent on leaving, until she asked if he was after her or was it kids he liked all along? She then nailed him right in the man parts and pinned him to the ground as the cops arrived.

Okay I have to say, I was disappointed. I mean I enjoyed seeing Pam spring into action and all, but that was it? It seems like they built this storyline up for a few weeks and it was a “wam bam thank you we got him mam” ending. Is it over? Will Tim get out of jail and come hunt her down? I also still think we’ll see Pam return to being a cop. Maybe this will prompt it?

The Heroes Premier Rocked My Socks!

The Heroes Premier Rocked My Socks!

Posted by Dustin on 09.23.2008 at 11:35 am

I have a three hour drive a head of me, but wanted to get a “Heroes” post in because it was fricken awesome!

I’m not liking Future Peter returning to the past to fix the future, only to screw it up. Future Peter is the one who shot Nathan, and Peter figured it out. Future Peter then stuck current Peter in the body of a prisoner in Level 5, the company’s prison. How did he do that trick? That seems like a really odd power.

Nathan was saved from certain death, but didn’t know how. He thought it was by God at first, and even made some announcement to the fact on television. Later he learned it was Linderman who brought him back. However only he can see Linderman. Is Linderman a ghost? Does that mean they still have powers as ghosts?

Matt learned about Future Peter and was teleported to the middle of Africa where he met a mystic. Not to much going on there, but the mystic knows the world is in for some doom. Mama Petrelli finally also leaned about Peter and we learned what her power finally is, she sees the future in her dreams. She saw him forecoming. She also warned him that by coming, he has changed the future in a whole knew way. Interesting, so perhaps if she could always see the future, she and Linderman weren’t bad after all?

Syalr went to Claire and opened up her brain. We learned he traces along their brain with his fingers until he finds the area with the power, then he takes it. However he did not kill Claire, telling her that he couldn’t if he wanted to. She can’t die, now neither can he. So it seems both of them have Adam Monroe’s powers? They are immortal? Also Claire’s powers seem to have mutated after her run-in with Sylar. She no longer feels pain when she’s hurt, she did before. Interesting!

Sylar stole an envelope about Level 5 from Claire’s dad’s things, he then went there to get home really great super powers. He killed the company head Bob, later trying to kill Elle. However she blew a fuse and saved herself, but blew out the power at the prison and set everyone free! Opps! HRG, who was also there, caught Sylar before leaving.

Speaking of Super Powers, Surresh figured out where in the human body the powers come from, not blood but adrenaline. He used Maya as a test subject and made a formula that could give powers, the first step at taking them away as well. He tried it on himself and ended up with Spiderman like powers. He was super strong, had heightened senses and could wall-crawl. However too predictably, he started having a reaction and his skin started to shed. All too “Jeff Goldblum in The Fly” for me.

HRG Noah Bennet returned home to Claire and explained to her what happened at Level 5, how all these prisoners got out. He had to go find them as he was the only one that could. She tried to convince her dad to let her be his partner, she had to help. He said no, but brought someone to stay here and look after the family while he was gone. He brought in Claire’s biological mother, the fire starter!

Meanwhile somewhere in New York we learned one Traci Strauss is not only sleeping with the Governor, she’s his right hand woman. She also looks exactly like Nikki Saunders, who was left for dead at the end of last season. Micah and his cousin were nowhere to be found in this premier. Traci and the Governor decided to use Nathan to fill a seat left in the senate by someones death. Traci met with him to make the offer, but he was sure she was Nikki. She claimed she wasn’t. Nathan did accept, which Linderman told him was wise.

Later Traci kept getting pestered by a tabloid reporter also sure she was Nikki. She kept saying she wasn’t this woman, but he was running a story. He had photos and even a tape of Nikki and Nathan together. She realized this could blow everything and exploded on him . . . but not with super strength. She grabbed him and he turned into a block of ice and shattered! She looked horrified she did this and ran off. So wait, this is a different power, so is she not Nikki? We know Nikki had a multiple-personality disorder. Could that also allow her powers to change too? Or could this be the long-dead twin Jessica? Maybe Jessica didn’t die? Hmmm….

Over to Japan, Hiro was now head of his father’s company. He and Ando found out that he was left in charge of a secret, one he was to guard. It was half of an important formula. Hiro’s father said it cold destroy the world, and if it fell into the wrong hands . . . he gave some riddle about only the blood of the “light one” could stop the darkness to come. A speedstar named Daphne then zoomed through the office, taking the formula from Hiro!

Hiro traveled to the future to see what was happening, and saw the world being destroyed. He also saw Ando betray him for the formula, shooting lightening at him. Woah, Ando got powers! Was it from Surresh’s formula, or has he just not figured them out yet?

Upon returning, Hiro and Ando set a trap for Daphne. She revealed she was working for someone and they tracked her to Berlin, where she was after the second half of this formula. Have to say I love Daphne!

Back to Level 5, Angela arrived after dreaming of a horrible future in which all her friends and family were dead, the world of a group of villains who escaped from Level 5. I’m pretty sure Adam Monroe, as well as Nikki/Traci, was with the bad guys! Angela took over Level 5, as the chain of command fell to her. She told Elle she was only kept around because her father protected her, but she was no longer needed and fired her! She then went in to see Sylar who was strapped down to a table. She told “Gabriel” that he just needed some encouragement from his mother. He told her that she wasn’t his mother . . . but she said oh yes she was!

WOAH! SO Gabriel AKA Sylar was adopted? He’s a Petrelli? Very cool.

True Blood: Are You A Dog?

True Blood: Are You A Dog?

Posted by Dustin on 09.22.2008 at 2:13 pm

A lot went on in the latest episode of “True Blood.” Where to even begin? The show started off with Sookie finding a trio of vampires at Bill’s place feeding on two humans. There was Marcus, the eldest and apparently a gay vampire who had a boy-toy human to feed on. Diane, an African American woman we found out had a fling with Bill in the 1930s. Finally the big guy with the bald and tattooed head that Jason saw on Monet’s tape. They were interested in Sookie, but Bill said he was hers and off limits to them. After they left, he claimed to an offended Sookie that he only said that so they wouldn’t prey on her. He also said those three lived together, and when vampires live together they tend to become evil. He chooses to live alone to retain some link to his humanity.

Sookie soon began to question whether she wanted to keep seeing Bill, as he scared her. Her grandmother pointed out how opening your heart to any man is scary, but Bill being a vampire did make it a bit different as well. The grandmother clearly likes Bill. I’m sensing a possible back story here! Maybe grandma met him when she was younger?

Meanwhile Jason escaped from being tied up to the bed by Dawn. He then played a joke on her, dressing up and claiming to be a vampire coming to drain her. She didn’t find it funny, and Jason didn’t find it funny that she had been with a vampire. That was enough to get him out of the mood to perform. After a fight, that ended up with her shooting at him to get out of her house, he ended up going to Tara’s cousin for some help. He wanted viagra, but Tara’s cousin only dealt in illegal things. He did have something that could help, but it was not cheap. Tara’s cousin gave him some V (Vampire Blood) in exchange for an underwear dance in front of the camera for his website. Jason didn’t know Tara was there watching. Too funny! I absolutely adore both Tara and her cousin, who were hilarious in this episode with some of the cracks they made.

Tara and Sam started talking about their unrequited love for Jason and Sookie. Tara then presented Sam with a “friends with benefits” option for the night, as both were “tired of not getting laid.” I honestly thought Sam wouldn’t go through with it, but he did! Later in the night Tara woke to hear Sam growling and barking in his sleep. Hmmmmm. She left the next morning, and the dog that has been watching over Sookie showed up at Sam’s place. It seemed like they were hinting that Sam was the dog, until they shared a scene together. What is going on here? Bill said Vampires could shape shift, but Sookie was able to read Sam’s mind once, so he’s clearly not a vamp. Is he a werewolf? Something tells me that is where they are headed. That or he is some kind of witch and the dog is his familiar.

Bill confronted the trio of evil vamps near the end of the show. They had killed the boy-toy, who had Hep-D and was purposely trying to infect them. Sookie warned them of this at Bill’s place, she stopped Bill from feeding on him as she read his mind. Hep D is one of the few weaknesses vampires have, blood born illnesses make them weak for a period of time. The human woman that was with them allowing them to feed off her was also killed and they had completely drained her. Bill warned them that they were bringing too much attention to themselves, this would be their downfall in the end. The trio was not too happy with Bill, and they wanted to know how Sookie knew what she knew.

Meanwhile, Sookie went to Dawn’s place as she hadn’t shown up for work. She found Dawn very dead! I think it’s obvious the tattooed vampire is killing these women in town. He and Jason I bet will have a showdown at some point. Likewise I think Diane is going to end up having issues with Sookie, out of jealousy of her and Bill. I can see Diane going after Sookie at some point.

The previews for the coming weeks look amazing, with a huge fight breaking out between Sam and the vampire trio. It also looks like Jason gets hooked on V and it changes him drastically.

Since the ending of last season and the mysterious missing shadows, fans have pretty much figured out someone on the show close to Melinda is probably going to die.

A few weeks ago it was spoiled who, which has brought about the wrath of internet fans everywhere. EW’s Ausiello has an interview with the shows writers and producers about this which you can read here.

They don’t really confirm nor deny anything, only say we don’t know everything and it will be a good story for fans. The “death” is set to happen for November Sweeps.

Army Wives: Attacked!

Army Wives: Attacked!

Posted by Dustin on 09.17.2008 at 8:03 pm

Because I’m so behind with this, I’m combining a quick summary with my thoughts on each storyline . . .

Denise and Frank discussed their separation and tried to lay down some ground rules. They agreed they didn’t want to see other people, they’d keep their rings on; but while he was in Iraq they wouldn’t communicate via webcam, would use the phone only for emergency or important situations, but could write. They both agreed not to tell Jeremy until he returned home as well. Jeremy shipped out this week for Iraq, with Frank leaving in a few days. Because of the separation, Frank decided to move out and stay in the officers quarters till he too left. I still feel that one of these two will get hurt in Iraq, and I’m convinced it’s Jeremy. First they already did a scare with Frank last season. Second, this show seems to like to put the wive’s kids in danger it seems. Third, Jeremy told his mom before he left he was well trained and would be okay. Ding ding ding, red light! I think Jeremy is going to be badly hurt, which will serve to bring Denise and Frank back together.

Roxy confided in Roland about Trevor’s problems. He told her she needed to get him to an addiction specialist and support group. Roland then told Joan, who demoted Trevor to a file clerk until he got his pain pill problem under control. Trevor lashed out at Roxy for talking, as she was the only one who thinks he has a pill problem. Roxy then lashed out at Roland for betraying her, sending Trevor further off the deep end. Honestly, what did Roxy expect? Her husband is driving around his pregnant wife! If Roxy had stopped to think, she would have realized SHE should have been the one to tell Joan!

Joan ended up with severe pains and was rushed to the hospital. The wives descended, including Roxy, to be there for Roland. Roxy and Roland of course made up. The baby was delivered by C-section and was okay, but Joan was bleeding and they hadn’t got it under control. They won’t kill Joan will they? I had just started enjoying her, so they best not.

Trevor meanwhile stormed off and ended up leaving Roxy alone, not answering his phone. As it turned out in his drug induced state he ran off the road and crashed his car, waking up the next morning.

Claudia Joy and Michael ended up welcoming Pablo, an old friend of Michael’s. He was an important official from either Mexico or some South American country, I don’t believe it was said. He was there to discuss some important base in his country which was in danger of being shut down. As it turned out, his wife’s company supplied many goods to the base; he wanted Michael to guarantee some contract with her company in order for him to tell his President to keep the base open. They worked something out. Meanwhile Pablo showed a little too much attention to Claudia Joy, which made her feel uncomfortable. It was clear where this was going, as the show closed he attempted to rape her! It appears Claudia Joy saved herself when she grabbed a wine bottle and smashed it over his head, but we won’t know till next week. I am having a bad feeling as to where this is going. They probably won’t be able to prosecute him because of diplomatic immunity. I also foresee Michael getting in trouble for assaulting him.

Pam’s stalker took a few days break, but came back with a vengeance. First he left photos he had taken of her taped to her door, then he called her show again. Pam decided the only thing she could do was lure him out, so she set a trap. Unfortunately he didn’t fall for it. Later when she took her kids to the park, her daughter gave her a rose saying a man gave it to her to give to her mommy. The show ended with Pam at the shooting range! I think someone is going to get shot, especially based on previews of Pam telling Tim she would kill him next time he came around. I’m just having a bad feeling that Pam might end up shooting Chase!
