Heroes: The Prequel

Heroes: The Prequel

Posted by Dustin on 11.11.2008 at 2:31 pm

Last night’s episode of “Heroes” served more as a prequel to the first episode. Hiro, taking his spirit walk, watched what had gone one in three different, but connected, stories.

First there was “the death” of Aurthur Petrelli. Nathan was getting ready to bring down Linderman, which was just one company Arthur had his hands in. When a staged accident failed to kill him, only crippling his wife, Arthur decided to kill him. Linderman told Angela of this plan, and she poisoned Aurthur. However he didn’t die, he used his powers to make the doctors tell Angela he did. He then had himself taken to Pinehurst, while the family held a funeral.

The second story was HRG, working with Elle, to discover how Sylar took people’s powers. Elle began to fall for Sylar and didn’t want to do this, but HRG pushed her. In the end it was HRG’s pushing that drove Sylar to kill. He killed once, but had it under control. In order to learn how he did it, HRG and Elle set him up to kill again. I think we might have also learned who Sylar’s baby mama was in the future! But that makes us wonder what happened that Elle wasn’t around? Hopefully that will change.

The final story involved Eric Robert’s character as an agent for The Company working with none other than Claire’s birth mom as a partner! She was brought in and trained, while her brother Flint was locked up. Flint was one of the prisoners who escaped and could shoot blue flames from his hands. Yup, Claire’s uncle is one of the villains. She hated The Company and in the end tried to break her brother out and escape. This lead to the fire that Claire ironically saved a man in and became a hero. Eric’s character let her go when she admitted that The Company came for her one day and set her house on fire, her baby burned alive inside. Eric realized The Company had lied to her and taken Claire, knowing she had powers, and gave her to HRG. He let her go and only told her she’d been lied to.

In the very end, Hiro woke up and he and Ando found Aurthur had decapitated the spirit guy in Africa and told Hiro he had to stop his dreams of him! I was a bit miffed, I like the spirit guy.

The show was pretty nifty as it set every story, well almost every story, up to where they began in the pilot. I thought that was cool as next week is part one of a two parter on a second eclipse which is going to do some havoc to the powers. I had vented this was frustrating me a few weeks ago when they introduced they “gave” many of the people their powers. It was like they had forgotten about the eclipse, yet they haven’t. I’m really looking forward to next week.

Desperate Housewives: Oh Baby!

Desperate Housewives: Oh Baby!

Posted by Dustin on 11.10.2008 at 4:41 pm

The major storyline in last nights “Housewives” was a continuation of last weeks, with Lynette suspecting Tom had cheated on her. He revealed it was Porter having the fling with a girl, and Lynette put the rest together. Lynette and Tom confronted Porter, who threatened them with blackmail saying he would run away if they told Anne or her husband. He kept insisting her husband was violent and would kill her. Do we believe this though? Or is Anne using that as a scare tactic so Porter doesn’t let them get caught? This has the makings of one of those mid-to-late 80’s TV movies based on the real story of the older woman who seduces the younger man into killing her husband.

Lynette had promised Porter she wouldn’t say anything, as long as he broke it off. However at a PTA meeting, she just lost it and attacked Anne in the bathroom, saying she knew. Anne broke down crying saying how she loved Porter. Later Anne met with Porter to give him the news, she was pregnant! The episode ended with Anne and Porter planning to run away together. That’s at least what they made it seem like. Porter was bringing a lot of money, so they could also be going to a clinic per say?

Gabby and Carlos were being wooed by the lonely Miss Hildebridge (sp?) and soon began to be a little weirded out by her taking such a liking to the girls. She wanted them to spend weekends at her house and was asking them to call her Grandma. Gabby finally had it and told her off, saying after 3 days this was a little creepy. he blasted Gabby, saying she’s not the first woman to try and take advantage of her kindness and then bleed her dry. She said they’d be sorry, and then called the club to report Carlos for inappropriate massage techniques. Oh my, she’s certifiable! Next week from the previews it looks like she weasels her way back into their lives by making them the soul heirs of her fortune. She’s bonkers, nutso, cuckoo! She’s not just some lonely old lady that is for sure.

Susan and Jackson went on “no-sex” allowed dates this week as Susan felt they needed to get to know each other. Jackson revealed he really is a painter, but has been blocked for over a year. The no-sex however unblocked him and got his creative juices flowing. He started painting a hauntingly lovely portrait of Susan which moved her. Because of how he captured her, she realized he really did know her all along. I was honestly bored by these two, but at the same time liked the cuteness factor. I could actually see liking these two together, though have to believe Mike and Susan will get back together.

Bree and Orson became the subject of blackmail this week, when a fired employee stole a surveillance tape that showed two people having sex. Orson and Bree thought it was them, but it turned out to be Mike and Katherine. Bree gave the tape, which Andrew got back through “methods” Bree gave him the green-light on. Katherine was embarrassed, but Bree was concerned as Susan was her oldest friend on the block as well as Mike’s ex, this could get messy. Just what I said in my thoughts last week! Katherine was sure she could handle it and they were all big girls here. No Katherine, it’s going to get messy, this is Wisteria Lane after all.

The final story was some more hints about Dave Williams. Lilly Tomlin, who is doing an amazing job guest staring as Karen’s sister, helped her find out some dirt on Dave through her connections at the phone company (a funny homage to one of Lilly Tomlin’s best known characters, the telephone operator!). Dave had been receiving phone calls, and returning them, to a doctor in Boston. This doctor has a specific speciality, treating the criminally insane. They called him up trying to con him out of information. He didn’t seem to know who Dave Williams was, which suggests Dave is using an alias? However when they mentioned Fairview, he freaked out. He tried to pump them for information, saying he needed to give it to the feds. This made them hang up. I can’t help but think that he wasn’t threatening them, but wanted to turn Dave in! He then booked a flight to Fairview.

Next week Dave and the garage band play a gig at a battle of the bands contest, and the whole place goes up in flames. It looks like Dave is caught in the fire . . . but possibly someone else too. The spoilers hint who, I won’t say for those who don’t want to be spoiled though.

ABC Spoiler Round-Up: End of November

ABC Spoiler Round-Up: End of November

Posted by Dustin on 11.10.2008 at 4:41 pm

Weekly spoilers from ABC for several shows, including “Brothers and Sisters” (the return of Steven Weber!), “Desperate Housewives,” “Dirty Sexy Money” (the return of Samaire Armstrong!), “Private Practice,” (Grant Show’s episode as Addison’s brother) and “Samantha Who.”

Note: “Grey’s” this week is a repeat of the 2 hour season premier, it seems there is no “Ugly Betty” because of this (or there is a Thanksgiving special on instead).

Brothers and Sisters: Catching Up With The Walkers

Brothers and Sisters: Catching Up With The Walkers

Posted by Dustin on 11.09.2008 at 2:43 pm

It’s been awhile since I posted on “Brothers and Sisters.” With “Army Wives” now finished for the season, my Sunday’s are finally getting a little less hectic. Here are some thoughts on what’s been going on . . .

I’m totally loving the idea of Sarah working with these two guys on their Greenatopia website/business. It’s something about the differences in their ages as well as personalities and work styles. I can’t wait to see Sarah’s kids with them!

Speaking of jobs, it seems Tommy is slowly seeing the light about Holly, that she’s the giant mega-beast taking over the company and doing everything. I loved that Saul told him when the day comes that he wants Holly gone, he’ll be there to help push her out and he’s sure Sarah would come back too.

Justin and Rebecca have been sexing it up all over the place, but I just can’t help that from previews, Holly is going to cause problems between them with her having Rebecca so close by her at work now.

Nora going to find George Laugherty was somewhat depressing. I mean the guy’s wife is dead and she shows up to say “Surprise, she had an affair and your son isn’t your son.” Nora only had to deal with one of those blows. However the way the father came around at the end, well it makes me think he may have suspected all along.

Finally Kitty and Robert got selected by a surrogate, but as usual trouble looms. The previews for tonight’s show have Kevin confronting Robert as to if he’s having an affair. I don’t think he is, but he seems to be hiding something. Maybe he’s been trying to find a surrogate on his own?

Ghost Whisperer: RIP Jim

Ghost Whisperer: RIP Jim

Posted by Dustin on 11.08.2008 at 12:50 pm

I didn’t get around to posting last week’s “Ghost Whisperer” but had to post about this weeks. Both featured their own unique little stand-alone stories. However it was the last 10 minutes of this week’s show that pushed everything forward.

Jim fought with a jilted man, who had a gun. Jim got the gun away from him, but a cop outside fired his gun at the person with the gun, shooting Jim. Jim lived long enough to get to the hospital, where he died with Melinda by his side. He told her he had an embolism.

The previews for next week have Jim as a ghost and Melinda saying if he loves her then he’ll cross over. He responded he wasn’t leaving her, they started this journey together and he intended to continue it. It sounds like she’s pregnant perhaps and he’s sticking around because of that?

All I know right now is I’m really fricken upset! This show won’t be the same and I don’t know if I like that. Maybe they can pull a “Dallas” and this was all a dream Jim is having in the hospital!

Grey’s Anatomy Jane & Dead Denny

Grey’s Anatomy Jane & Dead Denny

Posted by Dustin on 11.07.2008 at 6:37 pm

Two weeks of show thoughts mostly in this post. As usual I’m so far behind that to try and recap everything would put me further behind.

Last week Owen had all the residents and their interns work to save the lives of pigs, which he mercilessly stabbed in front of them all. OMG! This just made me completely ill and was enough to turn me off him and Christina. Fortunately at the end of the program Izzie was the one who stood up to him and told him how horrible what he did was, and that they had come to the point in medicine where they didn’t need to test on animals or use them as guinea pigs. Even Christina, after working to save every one, was appalled when Owen turned around and told her to terminate them. She did though as Lexie pointed out they would live in such pain. Frankly I think Owen should have been the one to do that job. This whole story made me sick.

The other major story last week was The Chief asking Miranda to do his job, assemble a team to operate on a little girl who essentially had an inoperable tumor. The Chief was on the team by default, she picked Hahn and Meredith as well. Meredith had found an old toy of hers, Anatomy Jane, that she was play in with. Using it she came up with the idea to take all the girls organs out and put them back in one at a time to get rid of the tumor. It was the only shot they had. Hahn thought it was pointless, and nagged through the entire operation and procedure. Well it worked, and afterwards Baily told Erica Hahn off, saying while she was a brilliant surgeon; it was she and Meredith who saved that girl today as all Erica did was tell them they were going to fail. I just love Baily and I love seeing her tell off anyone, cause she’s usually pretty much right!

Speaking of Erica, she finally realized she was in fact a lesbian in this episode. She wasn’t bi, she wasn’t straight, she was “so very gay” as she put it. That freaked Callie out, as Callie wasn’t having any homo-revelations herself. She of course ran to mark to test out, was she straight, gay or bi? In the end she realized she liked both basically, but wanted to be with Erica.

This past week The Chief announced one of the 2nd year residents would get a solo surgery. He asked Owen to evaluate them as he was the one without a real relationship with them and could be objective. He however soon found himself disgusted with how the residents fought over patients as if they weren’t human beings with feelings and families and lives. I found this somewhat a giant turn-around from the Owen of last week who was sacrificing pigs in the OR. Owen seems to be all over the place emotionally, which I am guessing is supposed to be a reflection of his field work during the war? Christina however put him in his place and good with her speech back to him about how watching her father die in a car accident is why she became a doctor and why she is determined to be the best.

The other major story was the resurfacing of an old patient of Hahn’s. It turned out he was waiting for a heart, but to buy him time they had to perform a radical procedure on him. Izzie was selected by Hahn to be on the team as she needed her to be compassionate and caring, which is what she was known for. However Izzie freaked out when she realize this was the man she stole a heart from when she did what she did illegally to get Denny’s his heart. Denny haunted her throughout this episode, which weirded her out. When Hahn learned of Izzie’s stunt, she was furious. She wanted her fired, investigated, brought up on ethic charges. The Chief told Hahn that Izzie was punished and it had been dealt with, that she was a good doctor and they couldn’t lose her. Hahn was sicked by this.

Later when Callie defended Izzie, Hahn was sickened by her. She thought there was no grey here, it was black and white. She launched into Callie saying Izzie was wrong, she can’t believe Callie would take her side, that she never knew her. She also told Callie that you can’t kinda be a lesbian, you either are or you aren’t. Erica walked off, and that is the end of her story for now.

I thought it was a crummy end for her and Callie, as well as her character. But Erica always was a hard-ass bitch, she came into the show that way and she left that way.

Izzie meanwhile is in a world of trouble! Erica could follow through with her threat to report Izzie. This could be how they do away with her. Likewise Izzie seems to really be seeing Denny, so they could say she does have something wrong; a tumor or imbalance causing her to hallucinate.

Dirty Sexy Money: Wins and Losses

Dirty Sexy Money: Wins and Losses

Posted by Dustin on 11.05.2008 at 6:31 pm

Last week the main story on “Dirty Sexy Money” was Patrick’s race for the senate. Unfortunately for him, Ellen’s brother returned determined to reveal Patrick had killed his sister. He was paid money to go away, as Ellen had been paying him off all along it seemed. I somewhat wish Nick had told him what really happened, that Ellen went alcoholic nuts and slipped trying to kill Patrick.

Patrick won the race, but in the process lost Carmelita. Tripp made sure to tell Carmelita exactly what really happened to Ellen, and how the cover-up was in part to protect her and what people might say about her. That was a load of bull and Patrick knew it. However Tripp’s mind-trip worked. Carmelita dumped Patrick as she couldn’t be with a man who would cover up a crime the way he had.

Speaking of mind-trips, Simon pulled one of his own this week. He flat out told Nick he planned to marry Karen, take her shares of Darling Industries and combine them with his to take over the company. Nick played into his hands and told Karen, and she of course thought Nick was lying and being the jerk. She ran right to Simon and agreed to marry him. I really hope something bigger is going on here, that Karen IS smarter than this. I’d hate to think she really is being played for a fool.

Speaking of feeling like a sucker . . . Lisa learned the only way she’d be able to open her own gallery was to have a big name celebrity partner. Jeremy offered to help her out, but she knew Nick wouldn’t like it. He didn’t, and he forbid it. I loathed that Nick actually made me side with Lisa! Nick felt she couldn’t have boundaries with Jeremy because they kissed. Um hello, Karen Darling? Grrrrr! Lisa ended up going behind Nick’s back and signing with Jeremy. Actually Jeremy went behind her back and did it, she then just decided to go along and that Nick could never find out.

Brian and his ex-mistress fought over Brian Jr. this week, what was best for him and who should have custody. The only one thinking with their brain was Brian Jr. He stated he wanted to stay in New York and he wanted his parents to work this out for all of them. Brian and the woman (forgetting her name) agreed to try and do what was best for their son. Again you can tell these two will hook up. I do wonder what happened to his ex-wife and his daughters. They must be on that island with Juliet 🙂

Finally Tripp had some type of heart attack or scare and was rushed to the hospital, but he was okay. Nick was the last one staying with him. Letitia had to return home as she was only given a short leave from house arrest. She pointed out to Nick that all of Tripp’s kids had left, yet he was still there . . . Nick then intercepted a phone call meant for Jeremy . . . from Nola Lyons!
