Lipstick Jungle: 2 For 1 Week
Posted by Dustin on 11.05.2008 at 12:18 am
Last week we got two episodes of “Jungle” as the show made it’s move to Friday nights. Both shows were fairly good as well.
Wendy continued to deal with the loss of her job, and got dealt more blows. She was hoping to finally start a company of her own with Sal, which they always discussed doing, until Sal was given her own job. He turned on her and fairly quick.
Later though helping Victory out of a jam with her fashion show, she ran into the piercing girl at the copy shop. She let her still believe she’s still a big shot, and agreed to read the girls script in exchange for her helping her with some fliers. Wendy was stunned to find out she loved the script and decided it had to be made into a movie. She was going to finally form her own company to see it done. I’m just getting a bad feeling that Sal is going to swoop in and try and steal this from her.
Niko ran into Charles’ Baby Mama with her baby and went soft, sending gifts and oddly becoming attached. She soon began to realize perhaps she wanted a baby. It was something she wrote off years ago, now she was rethinking it. Oh brother! It’s too early to introduce a new baby, that’s usually the death knell of a show.
Nico also had some issues with Kirby over finances. She was paying for everything, while he was struggling to pay the rent. Money became an issue and the girls convinced Nico to let Kirby pay for things if it basically let him feel like a man and more secure. She did, at the expense of food! At the end of one of the shows he had to send back most of the Chinese food they ordered as he didn’t have enough. Okay I think Nico needed to step in and just demand to let her take care of that. That was Chinese food abuse right there.
Victory had a nightmare that Joe fell off a mountain, and was stunned to learn the next day he was planning to go mountain climbing. He was going to do Everest or something nuts. In the end, he even agreed it was very weird and didn’t go. The two seemed to make progress at at least being friends.
However in the next episode, Joe was clearly having revelations about his life. He finally decided to propose to Victory, and Nico and Wendy somewhat gave him a little push saying she was not with Rodrigo anymore.
Victory meanwhile fired her publicist Dahlia, who turned on her and set out to destroy her upcoming fashion show. She relied on her friends to help her pull it off, which included Rodrigo to build the stage. As she gave a thank you speech, she singled him out as a great guy. This sent Joe, who was ready with a ring, running! Nico and Wendy were stunned, they didn’t know if they should tell Victory or not. Then of course the sad part was, Victory and Rodrigo still agreed they wouldn’t work out in the end. I haven’t been loving Joe that much lately, but even I can see how bittersweet this whole thing was. However they can’t have them get married so quick. I mean it took Carrie what, 10 years to get Big 🙂
Army Wives: Season 2 Finale
Posted by Dustin on 11.04.2008 at 8:05 pm
This Sunday was the season 2 finale of “Army Wives.” We now have to wait till next Summer to find out what will happen. Ack! I am not a patient person. Unlike last season though, which ended with a stunning bang, this one built up and lead to a lot of aggravation in my opinion. None of the cliffhangers were shocking, they were very predictable. That is what made it aggravating.
Claudia Joy had to tell everyone about her move, and Denise was the most upset. Joan soon found herself impacted by the Holden’s leaving. The new general to be brought in was a big fan and old friend of Evan Conners, which meant . . . yup . . . he appointed Evan to Joan’s job. Even more bad news came Joan’s way, she was being sent back to Iraq. Heartbreak ensued as she realized she’d miss everything in her daughter’s life.
Betty’s nephew turned up at the bar and originally claimed he inherited Betty’s shares, he was now her partner. However it was easy to see where this one was going. He offered to buy out Roxy’s shares, saying she should take the money as she didn’t have a legal right to this place and he could just take it. Nice try, but I’m pretty sure in many states a verbal agreement does hold up. Plus Roxy has so many people who can testify on her behalf that it was Betty’s wishes she was her partner and made her such. Grrrr the nephew is annoying me to no end already! This is definately a way to get Claudia Joy back into law again.
Pamela got herself into a world of trouble on he air with a caller. The caller was having issues that her career was coming second to her husbands. Pamela flat out told her she married into the army, it’s what she had to deal with. She then made the mistake of commenting perhaps not working and raising her kids wasn’t such a bad thing. That irked working moms who didn’t have a choice, they needed the money. It was clear Pamela’s own frustrations with her own life and Chase were being vented on air, and it got her into trouble with listeners. Then Evan came along, told Pamela basically she was fired and put his wife on the air in her slot, giving her her own show! Oh no he didn’t! Oh YES he did! Pamela’s fight with Chase over her job also again makes me think we’ll finally see her return to being a cop.
Denise and Mac got closer, until his ex-girlfriend showed up. Denise ran out to let them talk. The girlfriend had had a change of heart, and later confronted Denise swearing she would get Mac back. I thought she was going to shoot Denise at the door ala Amy Fisher to be honest. Over in Iraq, Jeremy caught his dad sending the female soldier out the door the next morning. She was basically doing the walk of shame. Jeremy was fuming, he of course didn’t know about the separation.
Finally the big day of the move arrived. Emmalynn, who claimed to have made peace with this and that she and her boyfriend would simply go back to being pen-pals for awhile, went missing. It turned out they were running away together, the guy was driving. So not only has she run off with a soldier, he’s apparently gone AWAL! Not good for them. I expected them to have the last scene of them being married. However it doesn’t mean that isn’t where they are heading too.
All in all, no real shocks. From the beginning of the show, you could predict how it was all going to play out. That frustrated and aggravated me. That and the fact that it wasn’t just one “OMG” moment at the end we are left wondering what will happen, it was several “this blows chunks” moments because everyone’s lives have been trashed it seems.
Ghost Whisperer Execs State “Jim Not Leaving”
Posted by Dustin on 11.04.2008 at 12:05 pm
With the pivitol episode around the corner based on the preivews from last week’s show, Kim Moses and Ian Sander, two of the producers of the show, have blooged at TVGuide that David Conrad (Jim) is NOT leaving the show.
Read carefully: David Conrad is not, not, not leaving Ghost Whisperer. We love him – he is amazingly talented – we all have lots of fun together and he is an important part of the Ghost Whisperer family. But most of all, we here at Ghost Whisperer are very much aware of how all of you feel about him. Again, David is not leaving Ghost Whisperer. Are we clear? We do, however, have some exciting and dramatic things in store for our beloved Jim and Melinda that we can’t wait to share with you- it’s all just around the corner. And, until then, please know you can always come here for the absolute truth.
Still, we don’t know what is going to happen to Jim, as “The Watchers” seem to return as well with their ghostly warnings of death rubbing off on someone close to Melinda.
Brooke Smith Let Go From Greys, Dear Shonda/ABC . . . .
Posted by Dustin on 11.03.2008 at 10:25 pm
Some really insane news broke across the web this evening! On TV Guide it was first reported that Brooke Smith, Erica Hahn, on “Grey’s” had been fired. WHAT !?!? This Thursday is her LAST SHOW!
TV Guide heavily hints that the decision was dictated by the network. . . Oh but wait, there is more! Kristin at E! reports not only is Brooke fired, but Melissa George, who was to play Meredith’s bisexual friend Sadie and steam up this story . . . well yeah it looks like her bisexualness has gone the way of Anne Heche’s and pretty much all gay story-lines have been dropped from the show.
Rainbow-Color me VERY confused! ABC has a very good track record with gay-friendly stories, but TV Guide basically makes it sound like the orders came from higher up. What is going on? I am bewildered, stunned and a bit pissed off. So here is my letter to Shonda and ABC venting my frustrations . . .
Dear Shonda Rhimes and ABC,
I have been addicted to “Grey’s” for a long time, but at the same time the show hasn’t been doing so hot in my opinion. You’ve tortured us for ages with Mer-Der to the point where it’s #%$@%#$@# or get off the pot. Alex and Izzie . . . um really, are you serious? I really loved the chemistry between Christina and the new Doc Owen, until the nasty pig-killing fiasco of last week. That was romantic how? The one storyline that has kept me entertained and laughing this season has been Erica and Callie, and now you up and fire Erica (Brooke Smith). I’m really confused, as it seems someone at ABC is trying really hard to make me turn off this show. I have far too much clogging up my schedule and TIVO, so if that is your wish I can really give you what you want. Please note I have no intention of abandoning your network all together, as I still love “Housewives” and “Brothers and Sisters.” I’m just very confused by this decision.
Signed,
Pissed Off Dustin!
True Blood: Trials and Tribulations
Posted by Dustin on 11.03.2008 at 6:45 pm
So the latest episode opened where last week left off, with Longshadow attempting to kill Sookie. Bill staked him, causing him to spew blood and explode all over poor Sookie! While he saved her, he killed a vampire, and that got him into trouble. He would have to go with Eric and be put on trial for what he did. Grrrrr! He asked Sam to look after Sookie while he was gone. I have to say, I loved that they had Bill playing golf on his Wii! That was hilarious.
Sam gave Tara 800 dollars to get her demon exorcised from her, but Tara didn’t want to take it. She eventually did. I loved that Sam did this for her. She keeps fighting him and the idea of a relationship, but she’s melting and he’s doing everything he can to not push her to far. So romantic! I also loved when he showed up with flowers and Tara’s mom was yelling he wanted sex. Too funny. I am actually interested to see how Tara’s exorcism goes, and what is so dangerous inside her that it costs 2x her mother’s exorcism. I keep thinking it’s basically the placebo effect, this has all been in their heads. What if it hasn’t? What if we are in for something shocking?
Jason and Amy kidnapped Lafayette’s vampire and chained him up in the basement. I actually am loathing this storyline, mainly because it’s clear that Amy is going to get Jason in a world of trouble. He’s so stuck in his V-induced hippy love fest with her to think straight. It’s obvious Jason is feeling guilty about what they’ve done, but he’s basically screwed himself. If he lets the vampire go, he and Amy could very well be dead. Heck if he doesn’t let him go, they are dead. Eric made it clear to the mortals they knew when a mortal had wronged one of them.
I also get this weird feeling that the vampire could turn Jason. He’s pretty lonely, and clearly he lusts after Jason. There is also this other side to him. He’s missing his son, who his wife took away when he came out of the closet. So he and Jason bonded over the fact that Jason also lost his dad at a young age. He could turn Jason in some weird “need to play daddy” role and make Jason his vampire son. I don’t know, I just think Jason’s in for it.
The show ended finally revealing the truth about Sam. Sookie went to stay at Bill’s, thinking it would be safe for her there and nobody wanting to harm her would dare go looking for her there. “The Dog” followed her home and she invited him in and to sleep on her bed, thinking she’d return him to Sam in the morning. “The Dog” looks just like the one Sam also has. However Sookie woke up in the middle of the night to see a nekkid Sam sleeping at the bottom of her bed! So yes, Sam is a shape-shifter of some kind!
Desperate Housewives: Robbing The Cradle

So the big story last night on “Housewives” had to do with Lynette suspecting Tom was cheating on her with Gail, the hot mom of one of Porter’s friends. She found Tom a warehouse space to use for his band’s rehearsals. Throughout the show Lynette became more and more suspicious that Tom was cheating on her and finally had it when she saw Gail sneak out of the warehouse she knew Tom went to. Tom however went there to confront Porter, who he realized took a girl there. He had no idea it was a woman and it was Gail! I don’t know, for me this was just a little too much like Gabby and John in the first season of the show. Perhaps though they are doing that to cause tension between Gabby and Lynette over this.
The other big story was for Gabby and Carlos, who FINALLY got a story worthy of them! At least in my opinion. Carlos gave a woman an orgasm while massaging her, and she took a liking to him. She was a lonely old lady, her husband had died and her kids and moved away. She had been in such pain until Carlos worked his magic on her, so she offered to pay them 100K to take him to Europe for 2 months as her personal masseur. Gabby was ready to ship him off, until she found out he had given her an orgasm. She then worked her own magic on Gabby, knowing how to convince her to let Carlos go. She offered to take the whole family, and Gabby would be her personal shopper in Paris and would be paid with designer couture. Oh she played Gabby like a fiddle. This woman isn’t as frail and helpless as she pretends to be! She’d got a plan up her sleeves and not a good one. I have to say I loved Francis Conroy as Virginia, the older lady who is conning the Solis’. She is fantastic! I have loved her since “Six Feet Under.”
Katherine also finally started to get a real story in this episode. She was lonely, very lonely, and had been sexless for two years. She was contemplating moving to Maryland to be with Dillon, her husband and their new baby. Bree couldn’t stand to lose her, so she tried to fix her up with Orson’s friend, who of course turned out to be an ex-con. In the end Katherine agreed to stay in town. Someone else has been a little lonely too, Mike. At the end of the show they went off to have coffee together. Oh no they are not! They plan on hooking up Mike and Katherine? Not sure I can see that working, we shall see how it plays out. Poor Susan though, not only can’t she seem to hold onto Mike, she’s constantly losing him to other women living on her street.
Meanwhile Susan decided she wanted to give a relationship with Jackson a shot, only to find out he had picked up a bar-slut the night before and brought her home. She was furious, but he told her she dumped him and therefore had no right. In the end they agreed to try and start over, having an actual relationship with real dates and stuff.
Finally at the end of the show we learned Dave had a brother named Steve, who ended up in prison for drugs and was killed by another inmate in there. Edie wished he had told her this, but he said he was dealing with it in his own way. So now it looks like we know who he’s after and why. I suspect it’s Mike, as I clearly remember Mike relaying a story of accidentally killing an inmate during a fight. However Carlos and Orson have also been in prison, though Orson’s white collar prison doesn’t seem like the place where another inmate would shank another 🙂
