Desperate Housewives: Home Is Where The Children Live

Last night’s “Housewives” was so good, possibly the best all season. First up, with Carlos seeing again, he decided he wanted to get a job doing good, volunteering helping the blind. He quit his job at the health club, as now that he can see he doesn’t like touching the wrinkled and moley old people’s bodies! Of course this wouldn’t do for Gabby, who set him up with a nice cushy paying job . . . . which Carlos hated and didn’t want to take. IT was like his old job, which was long work hours and stressful. However what Gabby wants, Gabby gets! She made him realize over the past five years she did a lot she didn’t want to do in order to support him and this family, now it was his turn. In a way I felt Gabby had a point, but at the same time you just know she wants that money back. You could tell by how she pulled a “Carrie Bradshaw” and went to hang up a pair of nice shoes in the closet on the barren rack. The wheels in her brain were saying “Soon you will be full of shoes again!” I have to say I’ll be selfish along with Gabby, I want the old Gabby back.

Susan and Lee striked up an odd friendship in this episode. Susan’s always wanted him to like her, he was always annoyed by her. However Susan was in the dumps as Jackson was off at a school reunion (Gale Harold still injured obviously). Jackson got a job offer to teach from an old art school professor, which would mean Susan moving to be with him. She thought she should, but Lee gave her advise to make her see perhaps she shouldn’t settle for Jackson if she wasn’t yet sure if he was the one. Lee meanwhile was upset that Bob was always acting like the big provider and Lee was his kept woman (I thought Lee had a job?). They decided to hit the clubs together for fun, and by clubs I mean the gay clubs. Lee invited her to tag along with him, which Susan accepted cause “the gays” love her as she put it. The clubs scenes with them were hysterical, especially when Lee tried to throw a scary guy off his trail by grabbing Susan’s boobs! Of course they got drunk and woke up in bed together, with Susan thinking they did the nasty. This was probably THE best part of the episode, when Susan was explaining to Gabby what happened (not saying with who) and Bob came over worried about Lee not coming home and she figured it out. Gabby’s laughter had me in stitches when she started cracking up as a worried Bob said “When Lee gets drunk, he’ll bang anything with a pulse and facial hair.” Of course in the end it turned out she and Lee didn’t do the nasty. What I loved was that Lee and her actually became friends in this episode, and I hope that continues. I would love to see Lee actually join the circle of housewives and not be (one of) the token gay(s) on the show.

Tom found out Lynette mortgaged the restaurant for Porter, and Bob found out Porter skipped bail. He was obligated to tell the courts, but gave Tom and Lynette two days to find him and he wouldn’t say anything. Preston had been talking to him over the phone, but wouldn’t help Lynette find him. He rightly pointed out she was more concerned about her Pizza Parlor that her own son, who was afraid Warren Schilling was going to kill him. Go Preston! Lynette’s parenting skills have been irking me all season. I know she’s never been the best mom, heck none of them are and that’s what makes the show fun always somewhat comical. She has always been the sneaky parent. However lately I just haven’t been feeling her actions. She in turn told Preston she’d never let Warren kill Porter, she’d run him over first! She took him to where she’d do it, outside his favorite bar, to make her point. Preston let his mom talk to Porter, who didn’t seem to believe she could keep him safe or out of jail. Someone was talking in his ear saying not to listen to her mother . . . Grandma! Yup Porter ran away to stay with his Grandma. Hmmm, shouldn’t Lynette have figured that one out? That’s where all kids run away too! Honestly, I was worried he would be with Anne Schilling somehow. From the previews next week, it looks like Lynette might keep her promise/bluff to Preston and run over Warren! Somehow I think it won’t happen and is a case of deceptive previews.

Bree met her soon to be In-Law, Andrew’s doctor boyfriend’s (I can’t remember his name!) mother Merlene (I think that was her name? Merlinda?). She was a controlling mother just like Bree, but came off as a trashy version of Bree, red hair and all. She was determined to win over Andrew and convince her son to move back to Oakland, where she lived, 5 hours away! They wanted to buy a house, she convinced them they were too expensive here and they could get a much bigger one there. Then she arranged for her son to take over a retiring doctor’s practice. Bree could see that the look on Andrew’s face was “Let’s talk about this, this is moving too quickly.” Bree blurted out her wedding present was going to be to buy them a house in the neighborhood that just went on sale, she didn’t want to ruin it but Merlene had forced her hand. So Andrew and his guy moved in there, with Bree victorious. I have to say Merlene was a pain in the ass, she was not funny controlling like Bree usually is. She was doing everything she could to hang onto her little boy it seemed. I loved that Bree came out on top, but worry we haven’t seen the last of her. I could see her suddenly moving in with the boys and onto Wisteria Lane.

Finally Mrs. McClausky and her sister continued to pry into Dave’s past, but weren’t getting very far. Edie caught him in a crazy spell, talking to dead people one night. She confronted him the next morning about his behavior and he admitted he was married before, she died, sometimes he gets that way. Edie threw him out, which is good for Edie, but very very bad for Dave and Mike. I bet this will really force Dave to go loco and exact his revenge.

  1. I think Susan and Lee did sleep sleep together. When he came down stairs that morning he said something about it being good but different and then slapped her on the butt. I think he is just trying to spear her feelings and his hide.

Anyway, who can’t tell if they have had sex? I would think most women can tell if something has happend – down there.

  2. Oh Lordy, Susan could end up knocked up with Lee’s kid if that is the case!

  3. I think there was some Lynnette foreshadowing going on … but not for Warren Schilling. Dave Williams was the one who pointed the police in Porter’s direction — I bet Lynnette finds out and goes after Dr. Demento Dave.

  4. Could be. Lynette is not afraid to kick some butt and she is definitely a mama bear!

  5. I was surprised to see eddie stick up for herself. I thought she would have stuck by pysco just to prove to everyone he can get and keep a husband. I hope she will be the one to turn david in. maybe then she can really be friends with every body again. especially mrs. mcclusky. they were good together
