Grey’s Returns, Denny’s Still Dead
So last night “Grey’s” returned with the first new episode since before the holidays. Some of the stories I loved, one clearly I didn’t.
Meredith, Yang, Owen and Derek got stuck with a serial killer as a patient whose life they had to save, only so he could be put to death a week later. The patient seemed to stir up drama for the doctors all around. Meredith and Derek disagreed on how sympathetic and understanding they should have been. Meanwhile Yang was upset that Owen seemed to be hot-n-cold with her and she was over it. Finally Meredith and Yang continued their fight. Sadie talked to Meredith about how they once had a fight, Sadie got over it and how Meredith acted. She said she still missed her as her friend though, and she was about to do that to Yang. Later Derek told Meredith his dad was killed in a robbery, shot to death. That is why he had issues with the killer and treating him the same as others.
Baily had a young patient come in with stomach and liver issues. The patent’s normal doctor died, so a new young chipper thing Arizona Robbins was brought in. Baily detested her from the start, and was told off by the Chief for never liking any of the attendings. Later even Arizona put her in her place, and Baily finally started listening to her advice, which was very different from his original doc. The boy was going to die if he wasn’t put on a transplant list, which the original doctor was against and instead wanted to do all these radical procedures. In the end, he was put on the list.
Mark and Callie were haunted by the flirtations of Lexi and Sadie and supported a support group to keep each other out of the interns pants. Mark however caved first and went to talk to Lexi, and they left a bar together. Callie seemed to resist Sadie with the help of booze.
The Chief meanwhile continued to wallow in his hospital being ranked number twelve and how he could fix it.
Then there was Izzie dwelling over dead Denny, on her birthday no less. She told Alex about Denny, but he seemed to be very understanding and felt she was clearly working things out and he was okay with it.
My Thoughts
The dead Denny story I’m really getting annoyed with. I can’t wait till they figure out what her issue is and fix it. I love seeing Denny around, but this is getting a little silly. This isn’t “Ghost Whisperer” here. I’m annoyed with the dead Jim storyline as is on that show. I did however love how understanding Alex was. One minute I can’t stand the guy, the next I’m loving him.
Sadie giving Meredith a talking to about their falling out and how not to let that happen with Christina was pretty good I must say. I didn’t realize they had a falling out, and it yet again shows a patter with Meredith. I want these two to make up, as I don’t like the tension between them. Meanwhile I’m as annoyed with Owen as Yang is I think! I loved these two from their first scene, but feel like we are getting jerked around and they are making them Meredith and Derek: The Sequel.
I hated seeing Bailey getting her talking to and smack down from The Chief, but I actually think he had a point so I couldn’t feel too bad for her. Though Arizona rolling around the hospital on “Wheelies” was in fact annoying.
My favorite storyline was Mark and Callie trying to help each other avoid the seductions of the lustful oversexed interns. These two were great together. I know many people want them together as a couple, but I think they work so much better as friends. They have a chemistry that just clicks and I love it.
I found this episode so boring I actually turned the channel to watch something else.

You aren’t alone. A lot of the reviews from tv sites said it wasn’t the return they were hoping for.

I agree with you, Dustin, about the tension between Mer and Christina. The best part of this storyline was Derek trying to act (and dance) like Christina at the end. That was VERY cute!
I like the sexual tension between Sadie and Callie. Sadie is actually growing on me. Little Grey needs to go. I do not like that character. I do not feel the sexual chemistry between Mark and Lexie at all. Honestly, I’m not sure that Lexie is capable of sexual chemistry with any person. She serves the show better as comic relief.
Finally, the oddest love triangle on television. I usually hate Alex Karev, but in this episode, he was cute and quite tolerable. Izzie wanting them both is – if nothing else – amusing. I was enjoying this story in this episode until the end when Denny was obviously crushed. Something needs to happen here. This has lasted long enough. Fix her, Shonda!

I was beyond disgusted by the Denny sl this week…I hated watching him hang around while her and Alex were getting it on…yuck! I really want it to end soon! Otherwise – I thought the episode was pretty good!
