Private Practice: Outbreak

Private Practice: Outbreak

On Private Practice this week, a patient of Coopers came in with the measles, which put their practice as well as Pacific Wellness on lockdown/quarantine because of the contagious nature of the disease. The woman whose son had it wasn’t vaccinated, as her eldest son was autistic and she feared it was the vaccines which caused him to become autistic. She refused to vaccinate her two other sons because of it. Cooper took matters into his own hands, vaccinating the other son, in spite of her threatening to sue. Sadly the son who contracted measles ended up dying. It was a heart breaking and tragic story honestly. I really didn’t expect the little boy to die! The story did seem to bring Charlotte and Cooper back together though, kind of. While nothing happened, they worked together on the case and you could see how much she was hurting that Cooper was hurting (over the kids).

Naomi continued to work with Wyatt and brought Addison in on the case, as they needed a skilled surgeon to perform a procedure on Wyatt’s cancer patient to help her get pregnant. During the surgery the patient almost died, so Addison abandoned the procedure to save the patient. Wyatt of course felt she could have finished it and saved her, she didn’t because she hated him. He had her second guessing herself and her motives. What a jerk! He is getting on my nerves, but you can tell something is going to happen between him and Naomi. That or it will happen between him and Addison, which will irk Naomi, who seems to like him.

Dell had issues with his ex over their daughter and he planned to sue for full custody. She was furious; she had finally gotten off drugs and was getting her life together. She said this could push her back over, and she reminded him that it was his friends who got her hooked in the first place. For that he apologized and told her he wanted to see their daughter more, perhaps they could work something out. Okay first I have to say I felt they had the ex playing the victim a little too much. Dell might not have helped by introducing her to his druggies, but nobody made her do drugs or become one but herself. That irked me a bit. That said, I couldn’t help but wonder if they are going to try and put Dell back with this girl? They did seem very cute together. I was also expecting Dell to bust her and find track marks on her arm again right after he agreed to drop the lawsuit.

Violet and Pete’s sexcapades continued, with Pete realizing he might want a relationship with Violet. Violet however couldn’t forget the two doctors that came and went before Addison, thanks to Pete. She only wanted sex; she didn’t want more from him. However she did want more from Sheldon from upstairs it seems, which Pete didn’t like. I can’t say too much about this storyline, as I don’t want to spoil it for those who don’t read spoilers ?

All in all, an amazing episode. FAR more entertaining than it’s lead in “Grey’s.” PP is just kicking “Grey’s” butt this year as far as I’m concerned.

  1. When this show began last year, I was a huge Violet and Cooper fan, and I wanted Addison and Pete together. However, over the course of this season, I’ve completely flipped around. I really love Violet with Pete and Cooper with Charlotte. And I was hoping they might keep Kevin around for Addison.

    This show is excellent. The writers are producing fantastic storylines – far better than Grey’s. The actors are also doing a great job and have so much chemistry together. I love it! I think a lot of people feel like Kate Walsh is carrying the show, but I disagree. I think this truly is an ensemble cast, and I personally feel like Amy Brenneman’s character is just as engaging and exciting as Addison.

    DON’T READ FURTHER IF YOU ARE AVOIDING SPOILERS.

    That being said…if Violet is pregnant with creepy Sheldon’s baby, I will be furious! Hopefully, it will be Pete’s baby, and together, they will decide to keep it. That could be very fun.

  2. I thought this was an awesome episode. I was in tears at the end when the little boy died and Cooper gave the other one the vaccine. My niece died a year ago and it made me think of her.

  3. I’m sorry — EW!
    What the hell does Violet see in this Sheldon guy?????
    She’s been sweatin’ on Pete and somehow this dud looks attractive to her?????? TOTALLY not believable.

    If I have to suffer through another sex scene with the two of them, I’ll be throwing up like food-poisoned Charlotte.

    Now, a baby with Pete…. that would be interesting. I think they make a far better pair. They’re both insightful but with murky backgrounds. They feel made for each other. But for Violet to condemn him for his past relationships — what? She’s a therapist. How does that make sense?

    I agree — PP is MUCH better than Grey’s this year. Guess that means it’ll be cancelled soon. >:{
