Melissa George, who plays Meredith old friend Sadie, is saying goodbye to “Grey’s.” There seems to be some unresolved issues over whether the show didn’t want to keep her around (not picking up the option to renew her contract) or whether it was the stars decision to go (word is she did not want to stay past the 8 episodes she agreed on).

Swoosie Kurtz will join “Heroes” when the show returns as a character name Mollie. Not much is known yet, which includes the length of the role and whether or not Swoosie will have powers. Swoosie is probably best known for the nighttime drama “Sisters.”

Private Practice: Outbreak
Posted by Dustin on 01.10.2009 at 8:43 pm
On Private Practice this week, a patient of Coopers came in with the measles, which put their practice as well as Pacific Wellness on lockdown/quarantine because of the contagious nature of the disease. The woman whose son had it wasn’t vaccinated, as her eldest son was autistic and she feared it was the vaccines which caused him to become autistic. She refused to vaccinate her two other sons because of it. Cooper took matters into his own hands, vaccinating the other son, in spite of her threatening to sue. Sadly the son who contracted measles ended up dying. It was a heart breaking and tragic story honestly. I really didn’t expect the little boy to die! The story did seem to bring Charlotte and Cooper back together though, kind of. While nothing happened, they worked together on the case and you could see how much she was hurting that Cooper was hurting (over the kids).
Naomi continued to work with Wyatt and brought Addison in on the case, as they needed a skilled surgeon to perform a procedure on Wyatt’s cancer patient to help her get pregnant. During the surgery the patient almost died, so Addison abandoned the procedure to save the patient. Wyatt of course felt she could have finished it and saved her, she didn’t because she hated him. He had her second guessing herself and her motives. What a jerk! He is getting on my nerves, but you can tell something is going to happen between him and Naomi. That or it will happen between him and Addison, which will irk Naomi, who seems to like him.
Dell had issues with his ex over their daughter and he planned to sue for full custody. She was furious; she had finally gotten off drugs and was getting her life together. She said this could push her back over, and she reminded him that it was his friends who got her hooked in the first place. For that he apologized and told her he wanted to see their daughter more, perhaps they could work something out. Okay first I have to say I felt they had the ex playing the victim a little too much. Dell might not have helped by introducing her to his druggies, but nobody made her do drugs or become one but herself. That irked me a bit. That said, I couldn’t help but wonder if they are going to try and put Dell back with this girl? They did seem very cute together. I was also expecting Dell to bust her and find track marks on her arm again right after he agreed to drop the lawsuit.
Violet and Pete’s sexcapades continued, with Pete realizing he might want a relationship with Violet. Violet however couldn’t forget the two doctors that came and went before Addison, thanks to Pete. She only wanted sex; she didn’t want more from him. However she did want more from Sheldon from upstairs it seems, which Pete didn’t like. I can’t say too much about this storyline, as I don’t want to spoil it for those who don’t read spoilers ?
All in all, an amazing episode. FAR more entertaining than it’s lead in “Grey’s.” PP is just kicking “Grey’s” butt this year as far as I’m concerned.

So I fell way behind with “Ugly Betty” write-ups before Christmas. I’ve been watching the show, but like other shows I watch, I felt it was getting a little dull. I really am missing both Alexis and the use of Claire, I think it’s affected the show. It’s still entertaining, it just feels like something is missing.
In this episode Hidla was re-opening her salon, but disappointed that Betty was too focused on impressing the woman running Yeti (guest star Bernadette Peters) to help her. On one hand I felt for Betty, this is what she was working for and you’d think Hilda would understand that given she had her own business now. However at the same time, Hilda was always on hand to help Betty with her career when she needed it.
Marc helped Betty with one of their Yeti assignments, networking and making 40 new contacts. However one of the contacts was an assistant at Elle, who stole info from Betty and a dress they got for their cover. By stole I mean literally stole it from the designer by pretending to be Betty! Marc and Betty worked to steal it back. I have to say these two are great together. As much as I love Marc and Amanda, Marc and Betty are really great together too. I wonder when Amanda is going to end up getting jealous?
Willamenia and Daniel’s love for Conner and Molly continued, with Willamenia pushing Daniel to go after Molly as love only comes along once in a while. He thought she wanted something, but she assured him this was not a scheme. He figured out though she liked Conner, so there was something in it for her. He wasn’t mad though, and in the end Molly dumped Conner. Molly and Conner then hooked up with Daniel and Willamenia, separately of course. As much as I love Daniel and Willy getting along, I have to wonder what will happen if the truth of how Willy stole Bradford’s sperm ever gets out? It will kill this little truce they have going.
Finally as Betty was busy networking and impressing Jodi Papadakis (Bernadette), Ignacio had a heart attack. Betty had silenced her phone while at a party, so she didn’t get all the calls form Hilda. She arrived at the hospital to find her father in critical condition. So far he’s still alive, and I will be FURIOUS if they actually kill his character off. I don’t’ see how they can, he holds that whole family together.
Lipstick Jungle: All Is Quiet And Peacefull In The Jungle Tonight
Posted by Dustin on 01.10.2009 at 9:11 am
This is two weeks of thoughts on “Lipstick Jungle,” both of the new episodes from the new year.
During the first episode, Nico went ahead with trying to find a sperm donor and do the baby thing on her own, while Griffin pursued her. They ended up having a little somethin-somethin on the side as both were alone for New Years. I have to say as much as I was annoyed by the way Kirby was acting, I miss him already and do NOT like Nico with Griffin. Griffin just seems slimy and shady to me.
Joe and Victory’s anniversary was coming up and she planned to propose. However he skipped out on their dinner together. She did get the chance to propose when they finally met up. He explained how he had to restructure his company, because of the downturn in the market was out a lot of money. I love that they are finally engaged, and loved that it was Victory who proposed (by sewing “Will You Merry Me” into a tux.) Very cute! Also I think the idea of making Joe not so rich is pretty neat. He becomes a little less immortal and more like an ordinary man that way.
Wendy and Shane went to a marriage counselor and Wendy found out that Shane was looking at going on the tour behind her back. She proposed they all go on tour with him if it meant that much, but he didn’t think that was a good idea as the kids had school and all. In the end she let Shane go on tour without them, and he promised it would be the one and only tour. Honestly not sure how I feel about this one. I think it was important for Shane to do what he is passionate about. At the same time it’s almost like he threw a hissy fit when Wendy didn’t like the idea as it would take him away for so long, and the hissy fit got him what he wanted in the end. Also I don’t like how once she agreed to let him go, suddenly their marriage was fine again and there seemed to be no issues or attitude . . . from Shane that is.
In the second episode, Nico hired Dahlia to help her promote some book the company was after to turn into a movie. Meanwhile Griffin put their New Years tryst into writing to inform the company so there was no legal issues for them. She had some serious issues with that, as would I! However I do understand in this day and age it’s actually protocol to tell a company or workplace if you are dating a colleague, especially when both are in high powered positions. Later Nico went on The Today’s Show to promote the article and magazine, but all Kathy Lee wanted to talk about was Nico’s younger man and how great the sex was. I have to admit, this was pretty darn funny, seeing Kathy Lee Gifford all sexed up. Nico spoke politely and eloquently about Kirby, which he watched and loved . . . Griffin not so much. Griffin pointed out to her how she couldn’t deal with a paragraph of writing about the two of them, but could talk about her sex life with Kirby on national TV. In the end Kirby dropped by Nico’s place and told her that she was the one he wanted, he’d do anything to have her. As they were kissing and enjoying dinner together, Griffin was out in the rain, so to speak, trying to call Nico but getting no answer. Yay for Kirby!
Shane went on tour while Wendy bid on the article/book that Nico and Griffin were after. This of course led to conflict between Griffin and Nico, as he thought she tipped of Wendy. It was in fact Sal who did. After Shane left, their daughter Mattie became a little witch. She was convinced her dad wasn’t coming back and it was her mom’s fault for pushing him away. She got trashed and showed up puking drunk to Victory and Joe’s engagement party. Wendy dragged her butt outside, where she puked in a New York City trash can. After being set straight by Wendy and a phone call from Shane, she apologized. Their daughter is really getting on my nerves and will get no sympathy from me here. I know she was afraid her parents were splitting up, but the way she treated her mom was horrible. She got her punishment though, puking in front of New York City. How embarrassing!
Victory’s parents flew into town, on a jet Joe rented (as he sold his), and were wined and dined by Joe. Victory felt it was a little too much, not only for her parents, but for Joe who shouldn’t be spending like this. It somewhat backfired as Victory’s father did not like Joe, felt he was full of himself, that Victory would have room for no one in her life but Joe, and she was making a mistake. She told him off and good, reminding him how his own parents didn’t approve of him marrying “that short Korean lady” and because of it they didn’t speak until she was 7. Victory’s mom BTW, totally fricken adorable! In the end Joe bent over backwards to do what he knew Victory’s parents would want, a small town wedding in their home church. Totally fricken adorable of Joe, as Victory had had it with her father and told Joe they could just elope to some island, that the wedding only had to be the two of them and her girls.
The show ended on a happy note all around, with montage of this season’s moments. This, along with the fact that NBC hasn’t released any new episode spoilers, tells me that this was our season finale. Should NBC not pick the show up for a new season, it will be the series finale. If that happens, I’m totally thankful to the show for ending it on a happy note and not leaving us hanging with some dreaded cliffhanger that won’t be resolved.
Ghost Whisperer: Lawnmower Man
Posted by Dustin on 01.10.2009 at 12:49 am
Tonight’s episode of “Ghost Whisperer” centered around a family who lost their youngest son in a lawn mowing accident. The son and his older brother were riding on the lawnmower when the youngest son was thrown and fell in the path of the mower. Yeah, gross! The father however covered up for his son, which lead to the family breaking up and the older brother living with the guilt.
Sam/Jim meanwhile found out about the woman he proposed to, or was going to. Her name was Nicole and they were on and off again for 8 years, until she gave him an ultimatum to propose. He apparently was going to. He felt though that if it took that long that maybe she wasn’t the one for him. In the end he decided to go see her to try and get answers.
Once again not too much progress was made with the Sam/Jim storyline. He did remember some of his paramedic skills, but he thought he must have seen it on TV. The son tried to kill himself by jumping off the roof of a house and Jim was there to save him with neck braces and splints.
From the previews for next week it looks like we’ll finally get episodes focusing more on Jim/Sam and Melinda than what we’ve been getting lately. I just get the bad feeling that it won’t be too easy for them to get together though. I wish Melinda would conk him on the head and he’d just remember everything!
Grey’s Returns, Denny’s Still Dead
Posted by Dustin on 01.09.2009 at 7:28 pm
So last night “Grey’s” returned with the first new episode since before the holidays. Some of the stories I loved, one clearly I didn’t.
Meredith, Yang, Owen and Derek got stuck with a serial killer as a patient whose life they had to save, only so he could be put to death a week later. The patient seemed to stir up drama for the doctors all around. Meredith and Derek disagreed on how sympathetic and understanding they should have been. Meanwhile Yang was upset that Owen seemed to be hot-n-cold with her and she was over it. Finally Meredith and Yang continued their fight. Sadie talked to Meredith about how they once had a fight, Sadie got over it and how Meredith acted. She said she still missed her as her friend though, and she was about to do that to Yang. Later Derek told Meredith his dad was killed in a robbery, shot to death. That is why he had issues with the killer and treating him the same as others.
Baily had a young patient come in with stomach and liver issues. The patent’s normal doctor died, so a new young chipper thing Arizona Robbins was brought in. Baily detested her from the start, and was told off by the Chief for never liking any of the attendings. Later even Arizona put her in her place, and Baily finally started listening to her advice, which was very different from his original doc. The boy was going to die if he wasn’t put on a transplant list, which the original doctor was against and instead wanted to do all these radical procedures. In the end, he was put on the list.
Mark and Callie were haunted by the flirtations of Lexi and Sadie and supported a support group to keep each other out of the interns pants. Mark however caved first and went to talk to Lexi, and they left a bar together. Callie seemed to resist Sadie with the help of booze.
The Chief meanwhile continued to wallow in his hospital being ranked number twelve and how he could fix it.
Then there was Izzie dwelling over dead Denny, on her birthday no less. She told Alex about Denny, but he seemed to be very understanding and felt she was clearly working things out and he was okay with it.
My Thoughts
The dead Denny story I’m really getting annoyed with. I can’t wait till they figure out what her issue is and fix it. I love seeing Denny around, but this is getting a little silly. This isn’t “Ghost Whisperer” here. I’m annoyed with the dead Jim storyline as is on that show. I did however love how understanding Alex was. One minute I can’t stand the guy, the next I’m loving him.
Sadie giving Meredith a talking to about their falling out and how not to let that happen with Christina was pretty good I must say. I didn’t realize they had a falling out, and it yet again shows a patter with Meredith. I want these two to make up, as I don’t like the tension between them. Meanwhile I’m as annoyed with Owen as Yang is I think! I loved these two from their first scene, but feel like we are getting jerked around and they are making them Meredith and Derek: The Sequel.
I hated seeing Bailey getting her talking to and smack down from The Chief, but I actually think he had a point so I couldn’t feel too bad for her. Though Arizona rolling around the hospital on “Wheelies” was in fact annoying.
My favorite storyline was Mark and Callie trying to help each other avoid the seductions of the lustful oversexed interns. These two were great together. I know many people want them together as a couple, but I think they work so much better as friends. They have a chemistry that just clicks and I love it.
Gale Harold Expected To Return To Housewives
Posted by Dustin on 01.09.2009 at 7:01 pm
TV Guide is reporting that “Desperate Housewives” is expecting to bring back actor Gale Harold, who plays Susan’s new beau Jackson. However the actor is still recovering from a serious motorcycle accident, it’s not known when he’ll be well enough to be onset working.
