Medium: Flipping Off Ghost Whisperer?
“Medium” returned last night and I really liked it, it was full of twists and turns. Plus I love that that evil DA VanDyke is gone and Devalos is back in office.
The case this time centered around a woman trying to find out who murdered her sister. It was a bizarre case in which Alison kept seeing the woman’s first husband as murdering the sister. The problem, the first husband died in a car wreck 2 years ago. The woman had remarried.
The twists kept coming, the man who hit the husband with his car was never found. He ran off. Allison soon realized it was the woman’s new husband! Why would she marry this guy? Well he came to her telling her that he in fact was her dead husband, and that the dead husband’s spirit jumped into the other guy’s body and drove off. He somehow knew details and could answer all sorts of questions about their relationship, so she was convinced.
Well when the woman’s sister found out about her dead-brother-in-law come back to life, she was ready to resume the affair they were having on the side. The problem? The “husband” didn’t remember having the affair, and she knew he was a fraud. So the new husband killed her to guard his secret.
Why did he do it? The first dead husband was a writer and worth millions, which he left to his widow. When the 2 had their accident, a manuscript of a new book went flying everywhere. It was an autobiography, which the guy stole and used to con the wife into thinking he was her dead husband back.
I really liked this episode again because of the twists and turns. However I can’t help but feel the show was thumbing its nose and giving the finger to the other psychic drama on TV, “Ghost Whisperer.” The fact that for half the episode they had us thinking they were doing a similar story to the Jim/Sam/Melinda one . . . then turning it upside down and making it a con job was interesting and I don’t think a coincidence!
