Desperate Housewives: The Money’s All Gone!

Desperate Housewives: The Money’s All Gone!

Last night’s “Housewives” mostly centered around Lynette and Bree, who made the mistake of mixing money with friendship. Word spread quickly that Lynette and Tom were strapped for cash. Not only from court bills, but apparently having a son suspected of arson is bad for business.

Well Bree being Bree offered Lynette a check for 20K. At first Lynette refused, but she eventually took it on the condition that Bree now owned 15% of Scavos, and if they sold out they’d pay her back first plus interest. Oh very very bad idea here!

Lynette, to thank Bree, offered to throw her a party at Scavos. Bree got the idea to do a book signing there, to generate business for them. Seriously now, did Lynette really think Bree was going to be a silent partner in this? I knew this was a mistake the minute Lynette suggested it.

Well Bree shows up for the party and book signing, only to find out Lynette is serving her four cheese pizza that night. Oh Lynette, how could she have been so stupid as to try and cook Bree’s food? Bree of course flipped that they were using substandard ingredients and took over, infuriating Lynette. Lynette finally told Bree she would pay her back as soon as possible. Bree didn’t want money to come in between them, but Lynette said it already had.

Why why why Lynette accepted the money I don’t know. I knew it was a bad idea from the beginning. However I was shocked Bree didn’t take over more than she did. I really expected her to swoop in, start making decor and menu changes and take over. Maybe Lynette should be grateful she only got a pizza change!

Gabby continued her quest to get her old body back in order to celebrate a night out with Carlos, who landed a big account and a promotion, putting them back on easy street. She joined some bootcamp that Edie was in and of course, it was too hard for her and she wanted to quit almost immediately. However the guy running it was a hard ass and wouldn’t let her. Not only that, Edie gave it to her, saying she was back to the old Gabby, a spoiled brat and a whiner. She told her that she liked the poor and fat Gabby better. Gabby ended up rejoining the bootcamp, and got a smile from the instructor, who clearly wasn’t the complete ass he seemed to be.

I liked this story for a few reasons. One, not only did we get the old rich sassy Gabby back, but she’s retained the lessons she learned from being down and out. I liked that Edie told her off, and Gabby realized she needed to change internally and externally. Finally I liked that it didn’t go where I was expecting. I thought she’d either blackmail the instructor with something in order to get the easy way out, or she’d sleep with him.

Susan was trying to get MJ into some fancy private school, but the tuition was too much. Mike told her he was busting his butt all he could, maybe she should do something more since her books weren’t selling. Of course when she find out Mike had bought Katherine pearls, she saw red. She decided to steal them and pawn them, but of course was caught. In the end, Mike had to admit they were cheap knock-offs! Ouch, good going Susan. Well, Mike eventually had it coming as well too. In the end, Susan got a job at MJ’s school as an art teacher’s assistant in order to get an employee discount to get MJ in.

Again I liked this story too, well how it ended. As usual Susan’s antics had me cringing. However I liked that Susan finally stepped up and got a job to help out her son and family. Now if only Mike would dump Katherine and get back with Susan!

Finally Lee, who learned it from Bob, warned Tom that Dave was not his good buddy, he was the one who turner Porter into the cops. Tom decked him, but Dave went all psycho and put him in a choke hold to calm him down. Tom at least sees Dave is nuts, and soon everyone else will I bet.

I would hope Dave has some kind of guilt complex and would pay Tom and Lynette the money they’ve lost thanks to him, but I doubt it. When the truth comes out I hope Edie steps forward and maybe sells a house or something to pay them back. It would be un-Edie like, but I would love for it to happen as I think it would draw her closer to the girls.

  1. I didn’t enjoy this episode very much. Susan really, really, really got on my nerves this episode and I was thrilled to see Mike finally call her out! I almost wish it was her character leaving the show as opposed to Edie.

  2. I too was glad Mike finally called Susan out. And I HATE him with Kathrine.

I thought Lynette totally overacted to Bree. Bree didn’t cross any lines – that I thought- and Lynette just went crazy.

  3. I agree Janelle! I thought Lynette was so paranoid about owing Bree money that she just flipped out on whatever she did. I thought it was a shame the pizzas were wasted, but I understand what Bree did. She has her own brand to market and if she felt her product would be tarnished b/c of the cheese served, then she has to protect that.

  4. I could see both points of view.
Lynette was out of line in serving Bree’s creations and altering them slightly without Bree’s blessing. Bree had a right to be offended. But I found Bree to be out of line in throwing out Lynette’s pizzas (I mean how’s Lynette going to take that other than your pizza’s trash and not fit to be served?) Then she serves her 3 cheese pizzas as 4 cheese pizzas. Sacred recipies not to be messed with, huh? Right, she was really concerned Lynette’s customers would notice the difference. I lost the sympathy I would have had for her with her hyprocracy. First disagreement they had Bree throws the money in Lynette’s face-seemed like a power play rather than genuinely being offended by Lynette.
