Izzie and George OUT on Grey’s!
The NY Post’s Page Seven is reporting that Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) and T.R. Knight (George O’Malley) are both leaving the show.
The T.R. news is not new, first coming out months ago the star was unhappy with his 2-3 lines per episode. The Heigl one has also been rumored since the beginning of this current “Dead Denny” story, though the show kept denying they were killing her character.
James Pickens Jr. (The Chief) confirmed both actors had decided to leave the show to Us Weekly at the NAACP Awards.
I just read that ABC is saying that James couldn’t know that they are leaving the show, and that both actors have been asked to leave the show and that ABC was still working on getting them out of their contracts.
Here’s the link discussing it

I think James would know if the actors said things to him, I think ABC is trying to do damage control honestly 🙂
I think it was only a matter of time before originals began to want out, much like ER and the short lived Chicago Hope.

All I know is that I would much rather watch Private Practice lately than watch Grey’s Anatomy…I’m sad that they are leaving (if they are) they are two of my favorite’s on the show

Agreed, I’m way more into PP right now. But it could just be the newness factor to it as well. However as I said once before, I like the moral dilemmas on that show verses the surgical grossness of Greys 🙂

I agree about PP over Grey’s – and honestly, that makes me sad. There was a time when I couldn’t get enough GA. I will miss Izzie, and it will be incredibly sad if they kill her off the show. I will probably cry as much as I did when ER killed Mark Greene. However, the show will go on without her. I also like TR as George – but I hardly notice him these days. I think the show needs to scale back on the primary cast. It seems to be difficult to fit enough storylines into the time they have. So perhaps they should not replace Izzie and George with new characters.

I read, I think on Ausiello tonight, that I think Shonda is trying to work out so that they come back as guest spots and possible a arc in the fall (probably November sweeps).
I agree, they are getting too “Heroes” with adding too many characters!

The way I feel about it – if they want to go, let them go…and hopefully the show can live on. Right now, I think it hasn’t been it’s best so I am hoping it gets improved upon. I think an easy exit for George would be that he needs to be closer to his family and just have Izzy die, it’s the cleanest way. I also read Shonda wants them to guest in the future and I would hope that they would be gracious enough to do it.

Well since I am probably the only one who liked them as a couple, I hope they go out together and come back together..maybe with a little gizzie in tow 🙂

Ill just be glad to see the Izzy character gone. And really both characters have lacking stories when they get them. I would rather they spend the time on characters that can and could have story. Love Callie, Bailey and Lexie and would love to see more of them when Izzy and George are gone

ugh no no no!! i love heigl! she brings classy blonde moments to GA that are sometimes comical (not as much as mark & callie). as for george..not so disappointed. i’ll miss him a bit but izzie more

Good bye Izzie! She is a basket case and always has been. Has she ever scrubbed in on a surgery?
Anywho, I love George and just when they actually “give him a pair” he is leaving the show? WTF? I think last night he spoke like five words during the whole show. It’s sad what they have done with his character. He could have been great unlike Izzie who they tried to make great with the whole Denny crazy ass thing which was beyond stupid. I wish they had dedicated that time to developing a storyline for George instead.
