Medium: Sam Merlot In The House!
Posted by Dustin on 02.12.2009 at 7:16 pm
This past week’s “Medium” I wasn’t so hot about. It was similar to a lot of the storylines last season where the bad guys weren’t getting caught, and I didn’t like them either. I realize though it’s closer to real life that way, sometimes the bad guys get away.
In this episode a doctor who was dying of a tumor and a fellow doctor were basically inducing out-of-body trips for the dying doctor. They were injecting him with drugs to “kill him” then later shock him back. It was very much like that movie “Flatliners” made years and years ago. While having his out of body trips, he would locate someone doing something wrong and then they would blackmail him. The one doctor was of course getting money out of the scheme, the dying one was paying off his bills and leaving something for his family behind beside his measly life insurance.
Well Alison of course caught onto them, and this resulted in the dying doc getting scared and deciding they should stop. It didn’t take a brain surgeon to realize the second doc was going to get greedy and let him die on the table, which she did. The dead/dying Doc came to Alison and told her everything, and Alison confronted the 2nd woman doc about it all. She was planning to flee to Mexico with all the money they had made, she stashed it in her car (including the dead doc’s portion!). She set her up, with the ghosts help, and the dead doc’s wife was able to steal all the money from her car and take off with it. Alison knew she couldn’t nail this doctor for what she had done, but she warned her not to even try reporting the money stolen to the police as it would implicate her!
I don’t know, I didn’t connect with this story. I did however enjoy that the dead/dying doc was played by the same actor who plays Sam on “True Blood.” So since I won’t get “True Blood” till summer, I got to see Sam. It was neat seeing him in a totally different role and without the accent.
Joe and the kids’ story centered on Ariel, who was taking the class where they have the fake baby and are married to another kid in class. Every time she held the baby, she basically got high. Joe figured out the baby daddy was smoking up every chance he could.
My issue with this story was the resolution. Joe sought to protect his daughter from her “spiritual highs” and blackmailed the boy, saying from now on he did the whole assignment and took care of the baby, in return Joe wouldn’t tell the school or his parents about his habit. Ummmmm . . . Joe you just left a “baby” and your daughter’s grade in the hands of a pot head! That baby’s gunna be dead before the assignment ends!

The ongoing saga of Balthazar Getty on “Brothers and Sisters” is more dramatic than the show it seems. After reports yesterday that Tommy was being written out, new reports say it’s “temporary.”
The LA Times and Ace ShowBiz feature quotes from Alison Schapker, a producer and one of the writers of the show.
The character of Tommy Walker is expected to go through a “period of spiritual examination and renewal” before his return later this season to the Walkers.
“Tommy is in no way permanently gone,” Schapker says. “This is just the logical end to this year’s story. What we’d like to do is bring him back next year in a different way.”
Getty OUT On Brothers and Sisters
Posted by Dustin on 02.11.2009 at 9:33 pm
This past week’s “Brothers and Sister” ended with previews of Rebecca learning what Tommy had done to undermine her and Holly, indicating it was a criminal offense.
It’s been no secret there has been tension on the show’s set involving Balthazar Getty and his other stars, stemming from his real life affair with Sienna Miller it seems. Reports that he is on his way out have been circulating for months, though other reports indicate the show was hoping to keep him on next season on a recurring basis.
Big spoilers follow!
Kristin at E! is reporting the 19th episode of the season will be his last. Tommy will be going to jail, get out on bail and then flee to Mexico!
Nichollette Sheridan OUT On Housewives!
Posted by Dustin on 02.11.2009 at 9:26 pm
E!’s Ted Casablanca is reporting that Nichollette Sheridan (Edie) is being written off the show.
Big spoilers follow!
Not only is she being written off, she’s being killed off! ABC has apparently confirmed to E! that Sheridan is leaving, but they haven’t said how.
Casablanca indicates Edie’s death will be an accident, though her psycho husband Dave does try to kill her first.

So last night on “Heroes,” Daphne and Ando teamed up to track down the heroes, whose plane crashed somewhere near Arizona according to the GPS tracker in Hiro. One of the best lines of the show came from Daphne when Ando told her that he and Hiro had GPS trackers in them, so he knew where to find them. She simply said “Of course you do . . . . ” Loved it!
At the crash site, Nathan’s Hunter was getting way out of hand with his task of apprehending the fugitives. Daphne was shot in the process . . . . No . . . . .! Fear not, she apparently is alive and captive somewhere. Shocker I know, like we didn’t see that coming when they just left her there “dying.”
Tracy and Peter tried to trick Nathan and catch him, setting a trap using Peter. Nathan of course didn’t come alone, as he claimed he would. They trusted him why? Peter flew off, leaving Tracy at Nathan’s mercy. Nathan had her captured, and from previews, it looks like tortured! I cannot wait until “The Hunter” learns Nathan has powers and turns on him. Fortunately even his mother has left him to his own devices, realizing he’s gotten too “Arthur” like.
After the shootout with The Hunter’s men, Hiro, Ando, Matt and Suresh were forced to flee. Matt drew some drawings and they examined them. Matt wanted revenge, but Surresh told him that wasn’t how they operated. He also suggested Hiro flee, without his powers they might let him go. However
Hiro saw something in Matt’s drawing that gave him hope, he had his sword back and possibly his powers? He decided he still had a quest.
Claire meanwhile was captured and sent back home by Nathan, once again given her free pass. Faced with uncertainty, Claire ended up getting a text message from some guy named “Rebel” who claimed she could still fight and not to give up. So it seems Claire has either a secret admirer, a secret rebel friend, or probably both. I’m smelling a new love interest for Claire!
Meanwhile Sylar was still looking for his father and ended up at the place of a woman and her son (I think his name was Luke?). He of course had powers, and no father. Hmmmm. Sylar’s father apparently last lived a few doors down from them. Hmmmmm. Sylar and the kid seemed to understand each other. Both had been abandoned by their dad’s. Both left with a mother who didn’t like or understand them. Both with sever rage issues. Long story short, the kid (after killing an agent with his powers when he was going to shoot Sylar) fled with Sylar. Sylar brought him along only because the kid claimed he could take him to his father. How much to we wanna bet these two are brothers?
What I’m really enjoying about this new chapter of “Heroes” is that it’s not as complicated as the past ones. They’ve streamlined the amount of stories going on. There aren’t 8 billion different things going on in 8 billion locations. They’ve got the writing tight and it shows. I hope they keep it up.
Izzie and George OUT on Grey’s!
Posted by Dustin on 02.10.2009 at 4:55 pm
The NY Post’s Page Seven is reporting that Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) and T.R. Knight (George O’Malley) are both leaving the show.
The T.R. news is not new, first coming out months ago the star was unhappy with his 2-3 lines per episode. The Heigl one has also been rumored since the beginning of this current “Dead Denny” story, though the show kept denying they were killing her character.
James Pickens Jr. (The Chief) confirmed both actors had decided to leave the show to Us Weekly at the NAACP Awards.
Desperate Housewives: The Money’s All Gone!
Posted by Dustin on 02.09.2009 at 8:19 pm
Last night’s “Housewives” mostly centered around Lynette and Bree, who made the mistake of mixing money with friendship. Word spread quickly that Lynette and Tom were strapped for cash. Not only from court bills, but apparently having a son suspected of arson is bad for business.
Well Bree being Bree offered Lynette a check for 20K. At first Lynette refused, but she eventually took it on the condition that Bree now owned 15% of Scavos, and if they sold out they’d pay her back first plus interest. Oh very very bad idea here!
Lynette, to thank Bree, offered to throw her a party at Scavos. Bree got the idea to do a book signing there, to generate business for them. Seriously now, did Lynette really think Bree was going to be a silent partner in this? I knew this was a mistake the minute Lynette suggested it.
Well Bree shows up for the party and book signing, only to find out Lynette is serving her four cheese pizza that night. Oh Lynette, how could she have been so stupid as to try and cook Bree’s food? Bree of course flipped that they were using substandard ingredients and took over, infuriating Lynette. Lynette finally told Bree she would pay her back as soon as possible. Bree didn’t want money to come in between them, but Lynette said it already had.
Why why why Lynette accepted the money I don’t know. I knew it was a bad idea from the beginning. However I was shocked Bree didn’t take over more than she did. I really expected her to swoop in, start making decor and menu changes and take over. Maybe Lynette should be grateful she only got a pizza change!
Gabby continued her quest to get her old body back in order to celebrate a night out with Carlos, who landed a big account and a promotion, putting them back on easy street. She joined some bootcamp that Edie was in and of course, it was too hard for her and she wanted to quit almost immediately. However the guy running it was a hard ass and wouldn’t let her. Not only that, Edie gave it to her, saying she was back to the old Gabby, a spoiled brat and a whiner. She told her that she liked the poor and fat Gabby better. Gabby ended up rejoining the bootcamp, and got a smile from the instructor, who clearly wasn’t the complete ass he seemed to be.
I liked this story for a few reasons. One, not only did we get the old rich sassy Gabby back, but she’s retained the lessons she learned from being down and out. I liked that Edie told her off, and Gabby realized she needed to change internally and externally. Finally I liked that it didn’t go where I was expecting. I thought she’d either blackmail the instructor with something in order to get the easy way out, or she’d sleep with him.
Susan was trying to get MJ into some fancy private school, but the tuition was too much. Mike told her he was busting his butt all he could, maybe she should do something more since her books weren’t selling. Of course when she find out Mike had bought Katherine pearls, she saw red. She decided to steal them and pawn them, but of course was caught. In the end, Mike had to admit they were cheap knock-offs! Ouch, good going Susan. Well, Mike eventually had it coming as well too. In the end, Susan got a job at MJ’s school as an art teacher’s assistant in order to get an employee discount to get MJ in.
Again I liked this story too, well how it ended. As usual Susan’s antics had me cringing. However I liked that Susan finally stepped up and got a job to help out her son and family. Now if only Mike would dump Katherine and get back with Susan!
Finally Lee, who learned it from Bob, warned Tom that Dave was not his good buddy, he was the one who turner Porter into the cops. Tom decked him, but Dave went all psycho and put him in a choke hold to calm him down. Tom at least sees Dave is nuts, and soon everyone else will I bet.
I would hope Dave has some kind of guilt complex and would pay Tom and Lynette the money they’ve lost thanks to him, but I doubt it. When the truth comes out I hope Edie steps forward and maybe sells a house or something to pay them back. It would be un-Edie like, but I would love for it to happen as I think it would draw her closer to the girls.
Betty and Brothers and Sisters Spoilers
Posted by Dustin on 02.09.2009 at 4:41 pm
Hmmm, well not too much seems to be going on with many of the ABC shows at the end of February and early March.
“Grey’s and PP the final week of February are repeats. “The Ugly Betty” release has a March 26th date on it. I’m fairly certain that is supposed to be for February 26th though.
There is a new release for “Brothers and Sisters,” but not “Housewives.” This is a 2 part “Brothers and Sisters” and both are being shown in one night in a two hour event, beginning at 9pm when “Housewives” usually airs. This is the beginning of the foretold possible death of a major character on “Brothers and Sisters” too.
