Booted from Idol and DWTS this week . . .

On “Dancing,” it was a shocker when Denise and Holly ended up in the bottom two and Denise went home. Maksim out of the competition so early? The real shocker was that Steve O or W weren’t in the bottom after horrific performances and the lowest judges score ever given to “The Woz.”

Over to “Idol,” it was just as shocking that Megan, who was horrific this week, wasn’t even in the bottom three! The bottom were Michael, Matt and Scott. Matt? Then Scott was saved, putting Matt in the bottom with Michael. Are you kidding me? WTH! Michael went home, but I’m already preparing myself for shocks next week, as well as some serious cursing when someone who shouldn’t be sent home gets the boot!

Ausiello has spoiled that on the 100th episode of “Grey’s” on May 7th, Meredith and Derek are NOT the couple getting married!

Who do you think it is? If they were to kill Izzie off, I would guess her and Alex. But I just CAN’T see them killing her, it would kill Derek so to speak 🙂

American Idol: Final Three Projected

American Idol: Final Three Projected

Posted by Dustin on 03.26.2009 at 5:53 pm

So this week Randy, Simon and Ryan appeared on Jay Leno. They basically projected the final three for this year’s Idol would be Adam, Danny and Lil Rounds.

Shocking huh?

A lot of people have given Idol flack this year for the way the top 12(13) were picked, because it insured the one the judges liked made it through. I mean let’s be honest, it was easy each week to pick who would go through!

With the judges save, again some feel it’s a way for them to shape the final three. So given their predictions, should any of those final three get booted soon, we can guess they’d probably use the save on them.

Now the save can’t be used once it’s down to the last 5 (I think), so there is always a shock factor with the votes. I think most everyone will agree Danny and Adam will be in the final three. I’m not yet sold Lil will make it. Anoop has a huge following of girls supposedly. Normally I would say Allison could (or should) be there too, but given she found herself in the bottom three last week . . . who knows. Maybe people assumed she’d be safe because she’s such a strong singer?

The final three could be a shocker, as often the people who are there aren’t always the best. Likewise the person who wins Idol isn’t always the most successful. Some might say it’s better to lose Idol than win, as past losers have had far more success.

Looking at the final three that the judges picked, I’m already thinking about what kind of Idol they would be and what songs they’d put out, thus wondering how mainstream and successful they might be. I readily admit that there is some serious stereotyping in these thoughts 🙂 You are always free to disagree, and I welcome people posting who they think will make it and why.

First up, I think Adam deserves to win this season. As far as stage presence and talent, he’s in a category of his own. To be honest, I’m shocked he hasn’t been picked up as of yet. What is someone like him doing on American Idol? I keep wondering if he has a secret record deal in his past 🙂 I also think of everyone, he’s the most marketable and current as far as what he can record. I am DYING for them to do 80s week, simply because I want to see him belt out some mean Sebastian Bach 80s hair metal screams. Will he win though? Unfortunately I don’t think so. I mean it’s fairly clear he’s gay, even though it hasn’t been brought up or mentioned on Idol as of yet. (You can google him, he has pictures of himself making out with boys all over his facebook and myspace). I don’t think any Idol has been openly out during the competition as of yet, at least one that has made it into the top 12. Yes, some have come out AFTER, but not during. Frankly I think him being gay probably will hurt his chances with the votes in some crowds, like with the teen girls.

Lil Rounds, there is no doubt she can sing, I just don’t know how popular she will be. It’s hard NOT to make the Fantasia comparison, and Fantasia was pretty much one of the idols who bombed out. Lil could have a market, but more of a niche market depending on how she market herself. Right now she seems much more of a bluesy R&B singer as opposed to a pop R&B singer.

Danny . . . I’m not sure about him either. I see too much of Taylor in him, and I think he might be more of the contemporary adult niche market. Also, it’s total stereotyping, but I also wonder if he would end up falling into the Christian music market as well, which pretty much is death as far as mainstream radio is concerned.

On the flip side, my thoughts on who could be the two dark horses. Anoop I could see being a popular crooner type singer, very Michael Buble. But again it’s a niche market. Allison has youth on her side, though that didn’t seem to help Jasmine much. Allison I could definitely see doing well as a Pink or Katy Perry type artist, a mix of pop and rock/punk.

So I’ll leave it there, and let you all give your thoughts.

Heroes: Cold Snap

Heroes: Cold Snap

Oh My God Becky . . . . Last night’s episode of “Heroes” was so good, yet slightly upsetting at the same time. However defiantly the best episode since the first season for sure.

Hiro and Ando learned that the baby was in fact Matt Parkman’s baby, and he had a power. He could turn things on and off, making a whole assortment of his electronic toys go with a touch. Hiro nicknamed him “Baby Touch And Go.” Well Janice came home, and they had to explain to her that her baby was in danger, Matt was set up, yada yada. When officers showed up at her door to take her and her son in for questioning, she realized they weren’t kidding. She claimed her son was at daycare, they could go get him. She bought Hiro and Ando time to escape. Ando blasted the men with his powers, somehow he’s able to channel his charges into lightning now. Meanwhile the baby kicked Hiro’s powers back, sort of. Hiro can freeze time again, but he couldn’t teleport. Hiro, Ando and Baby Matt escaped.

Something tells me that Hiro will never get his time travel powers back. I think much like Peter, his original powers are too powerful. We’ve critiqued Hiro one too many times for not just going back in time and fixing stuff as is. I also think we haven’t seen the last of Janice, more on that later.

Angela was on the run from The Hunter and his men in this episode. Not to much happened with her. At the end Peter swooped in to save her from capture, flying her away to safety with him. It was a great scene!

Matt, Surresh, Tracy and Daphne escaped from The Hunter’s building, with the help of Rebel. The Hunter sent HRG after Tracy to find Rebel. He made a deal with her, lead him to Rebel and he’d let her go (yeah right!). Meanwhile Matt and Surresh got Daphne to the hospital. It seemed Daphne was okay, and later she told Matt he was nice but they wouldn’t work, so she ran off to Paris. Matt showed up to get her, she realized he couldn’t have gotten there so fast. She knew they were still in the hospital, she was dying and Matt was doing this in her head. He wanted her to have a happy ending. The show ended with Daphne dying.

I was SO miffed they killed Daphne. I really loved her character, this was heart breaking for me! However with the return of Janice and Baby Matt, I somehow wonder if they are going to put Matt back with his ex?

Tracy was shocked to meet Rebel, who as we all guessed, was Micah! Yup, Micah is back, and grown up too. Tracy had no idea it was him, she had set him up. They tried to flee from The Hunters men and ended up in a parking garage. She had Micah tell the fire alarms to start the sprinklers, then she had him run. Tracey then pulled off this trick where she froze everything around her, and in the end turned herself into a block of ice! The Hunter showed up, shot her, shattering her into pieces. OMG! After he walked away we saw her “cracked” head’s eye blink though . . .

Is Tracy dead? That could have been a sign. If she can make herself into ice, could she melt and reform herself? A possibility. Otherwise there is always that other sister Barbara we have never seen.

Spoilers have indicated there will be 3 deaths this season, but one won’t be final, the person will come back.

Ugly Betty: Who’s The Mommy?

Ugly Betty: Who’s The Mommy?

Posted by Dustin on 03.23.2009 at 3:35 pm

Two big spoilers have come out, both on the heels of the previews shown at the end of the last “Ugly Betty” teasing that Christina may be the mother of Willy’s kid after all.

Ausiello scooped that Ashley Jensen (Christina) will be involved in a kidnapping, a paternity test and a reunion with the two men in her life.

Meanwhile Osoyou.com has posted a photo of Betty in handcuffs, a recently filmed scene that also involves Christina’s character.

Sounds to me like Betty gets arrested for helping Christina kidnap the baby, which it really looks like it will turn out to be Christina’s son with her down-and-out husband. Will this be how they write Ashley Jensen out? The actress is going to be in a new sitcom next fall and is leaving “Betty.”

Desperate Housewives: Goodbye Edie

Desperate Housewives: Goodbye Edie

Posted by Dustin on 03.23.2009 at 12:16 pm

Given last night’s episode of “Housewives,” and the chatter in the shoutbox. I figured I best get a post up quickly if people wanted to comment on it. Therefore this is a complete opinion post with little recap. The next new “Housewives” isn’t until April 19th, so if you missed it, well you have plenty of time to catch up online.

First up, good lord Orson the whiny baby was in full force throughout this episode! Wah wah wah, I feel like a unic compared to my smart, sexy, successful wife; so I steal to piss her off. You steal because you are a criminal, always have been and always will! I can’t believe Bree was about to sell her company to make Orson feel better. I’m so glad she came to her senses and didn’t, but then he threw yet another tantrum. Let him throw them in the yard. Orson needs to be kicked out of the house. Sorry Orson, it’s time for you to go!

Tom and Gabby’s “girl talk” was pretty funny. I want to see more of Tom interacting with “the girls.”

Speaking of going, thank God Carlos fired that horrible Lucy woman. Oh she was just horrid to Lynette throughout this episode. I loved when she got caught yelling at the cleaning lady for assuming that Carlos’ kids were hers, just because they were Latino. What a horrid woman she was . . . I hope Carlos doesn’t hire Orson as a replacement or something stupid.

Carl’s kid Evan was just frightening in this episode with his drawings. Paging Damian! However it was actually a good story in which Susan didn’t act like an ass, and she got closure in a sense with Carl . . . whose wife left him in this episode much like he did to Susan. Lord, please don’t let them put Susan and Carl back together . . . please!

Finally we come to Dave, who showed his complete crazy in this episode with his “plan” to kill Katherine during the camping trip and make it look like a hunting accident. Meanwhile the fax waiting for Edie through out the whole show giving her all the answers was killer. How could she have kept walking away? It’s like not listening to your answering machine. Grrrr!

Of course at the very end, Edie had to confront Dave first without telling anyone else. Please woman, the man is nuts! But that is how TV goes. Then her death, what a way to go. Oh I felt so bad. For those who didn’t see it, I will recap her death . . . .

Edie confronted Dave with a fax containing the story of Mike, the car crash and his kid and wife’s death. She figured out everything, he married her and moved here for revenge. She was going to call Mike, he started strangling her. Something came over him and he stopped. She ran out of the house and into her car. Meanwhile down the street an old lady was being robbed by a man in a mask. She caught him in her house and chased him out into the street. He took his mask of, shocker it was Orson! Edie, who was frantic and on her phone, looked up to see Orson in front of her. She swerved, hit a power pole head on. That didn’t kill her. What killed her is when she stepped out of the car, into a puddle and a power line touched the car door and electrocuted her on the spot.

Poor Edie, and damn you Orson!

Private Practice: Playing With Fire

Private Practice: Playing With Fire

Posted by Dustin on 03.22.2009 at 10:15 pm

Unlike “Grey’s”, which I loved this week, I found myself aggravated with “Private Practice.” This was thanks to Addison’s dilemma. I’m saving it for last in this write-up.

Sam had backed off dating this week, while Noami became a dating maniac. She wanted to have her fun and sew some oats. She liked one of Sam’s friends, asking for his number. Sam eventually gave it to her, but it was clear he didn’t want to. Poor Sam is clearly still in love with Naomi, who seems to be moving on without him. I am betting Noami and Sam will end up back together at some point though.

Violet had a patient lose her baby, but she wouldn’t accept it. She had mental problems, the baby she felt was an answer to them, she couldn’t bare to have lost it. Nobody could get through to her, except Dell at the end. He told her bad things happen, sometimes they have to accept it. In this episode Dell’s ex got a job in Chicago and wanted to move there with their daughter for a fresh start. He didn’t want to lose his daughter, he wanted to talk about this. Later he found out that she fled anyway without telling him. Packed up the whole apartment and vanished. I have a bad feeling there was no job, she’s back into drugs somehow and running from someone she owes money to.

Violet finally had her ultrasound this week, she’s having a boy! In the end Pete showed up for the ultrasound, in spite of trying to lose himself in a frenzy of dating and one night stands. He realized he was hiding from the baby as much as Violet, who had been putting this off had been. I don’t know, I just get the bad feeling their growing closer will blow-up when the baby turns out to be Sheldon’s, who is nowhere to be found lately.

One funny thing that happened with Violet was that she and Charlotte finally became friends, and bonded over making fun of Cooper. Again, is this a friendship that might be fractured if Violet ever decides she wants Cooper? Or Cooper wants her?

Addison meanwhile tried to drop her pregnant patient, Noah’s wife. She had to be on bed rest at the hospital, Addison thought a doctor at the hospital would be better for her. A flimsy excuse. Noah came to her begging her to take the case as she was the best, he wanted the best. He said he could separate his feelings for her from this, he was stupid. He went on and on about how he just never felt this way before, and he was hoping it wasn’t in his head and she felt something too. She said nothing and walked off.

I was so miffed. I mean he got married, he got his wife pregnant. What is this “I’ve never felt this way before” nonsense. Grrrr! Addison later decided she could manage her feelings and agreed to take the wife as her patient, to see this through. Then she made the major mistake, she told Noah he wasn’t wrong, it wasn’t in his head, she felt it too. However she said she would not act on it, she was not that kind of person.

Well first, yeah she kinda is, or was. I mean hello, she’s done this before! If she does this again, oh it would infuriate me. Addison would really be nonredeemable. I don’t know why I have this feeling the wife will lose the baby, and Noah will lose himself in Addison’s arms. No no no no! Please don’t do this to me Shonda!

Grey’s Anatomy: Izzie Checks In

Grey’s Anatomy: Izzie Checks In

Posted by Dustin on 03.22.2009 at 6:46 pm

So the last episode of “Grey’s” was probably one of the best in a long long time, in my opinion.

Bailey was put in charge of bringing Derek back to the hospital. She sent both Callie and Owen out to retrieve him, but Derek only seemed to bring them both down with all his “how do you keep going after you kill someone on the table” talk. He ended up having them all drinking beer with him!

Bailey told the Chief how she sent Callie and Owen out there, neither had come back, and how she was sure they had been picked up, killed and roasted on a fire by some crazy person in the woods. Loved it! I probably would have thought the same thing myself honestly. The Chief finally went out and talked sense into all of them, saying death isn’t on them, it’s the one thing they can’t control. They can prolong it, but everybody dies.

The main patient in this episode was nicknamed blowhole by the docs and interns, which annoyed Izzie. It was a man who lost have his face in an accident, leaving a large open wound much like Two-Face in “The Dark Knight.” It was really hideous to look at throughout this episode I must say! He came to the hospital for a face transplant, which as far as we know, succeeded at the end of the show. I did have some issue with the fact that the doctors just unwrapped his face for him and his friends to see right after he woke up. Yeah not likely! But hey it was for TV.

Meredith and George had to deal with some intern drama this week. They were all sleeping with one another, fighting over one of the girls, who ended up pregnant with a “who’s the daddy” story of her own. Meredith gave them a huge speech about checking their personal lives at the door and acting like doctors. George, who rarely says much anymore, had the line of the show when he told her “That was very Bailey!”

Yang received her first solo surgery, a hernia operation for an old woman. The old woman was frightened and had questions, which Yang brushed off initially. She was consumed most of the show trying to get Izzie an appointment with an oncologist, who Izzie ended up blowing off.

Izzie claimed she didn’t know if she wanted treatment, which upset Yang. Yang wondered why she told her in the first place? At her surgery, Yang couldn’t focus on her patient until she told Alex and Bailey, who were assisting, what was going on with Izzie. They of course told everyone else. Yang’s patient also, before being put under, told Yang she knows she thinks her questions were silly, but she was afraid and needed to know she would be okay. Yang finally made a connection with a patient, telling her that her fears weren’t silly, this surgery was important to her and she would be just fine. I loved seeing Christina finally connect with a patient rather than treat them like a lab rat. Izzie obviously factored into her new found compassion as well.

The show ended with Meredith going to see Derek, who apologized to her. I would have liked his apology better had he found the ring to be honest. But she took him back. However she also made it clear she couldn’t respect him if he walked away from the gift he had. She gave him Izzie’s file to look over.

Back at the hospital Izzie’s friends checked her into a room and hooked her up to machines, officially making her a patient. It was so emotional! They just played music, no words were needed.

For once I find myself on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode. This one was just that good. I can’t wait to see what happens. I refuse to believe they’ll kill Izzie, only because to do so really would make Derek never return to the hospital. I can see her being cured and finding a new outlook and purpose for her life, leaving the hospital and medicine.

Ugly Bett: Let’s Talk About Sex Baby!

Ugly Bett: Let’s Talk About Sex Baby!

Posted by Dustin on 03.20.2009 at 8:14 pm

So this week’s “Betty” was the last one until May, the show is officially on hiatus.

Last week the mommy while Ignacio and company were busy setting up Hilda and Archie, Betty met Matt’s mom. Let’s just say Mommy Dearest did not approve of Betty for her son, she felt he could do better. Betty stood her ground with her though.

This week’s episode was all about the S-E-X. Mode, trying to get back on it’s feet, decided to do a sex issue. Because, well, sex sells! MEanwhile everyone at “Mode” (or connected) were having sex issues.

Willy was missing Conner, constantly dreaming of him every night. I felt so bad, but worry this means she might run off with him at some point soon. Mark, worried, set her up with a sexy “manny” for the baby . . . and for her. However try as she might, she just ended up crying on his shoulder about Conner.

Molly decided to read some poem she wrote at a poetry jam. Once Betty read it she told Daniel it was about them having sex and how he cries after. He got all macho, forbid her to read it, but in the end allowed her after a talk with Betty. I wasn’t to interested in this story, and I’m hating this whole “killing Molly off” thing. They better find some miracle cure for her or I’ll be so miffed!

Archie and Hilda kept dating, but she was bored with him. He wasn’t “bad” enough for her. However before she was about to dump him, an old girlfriend saw him and seemed very interested. That spiced it up for Hilda, she didn’t want to lose him anymore. After some bumps, with Archy getting upset to learn Hilda was about to dump him, they smoothed things out. I really like these two and I really want them to keep Archie around. Hilda is due for some happiness.

The big story was about Matt and Betty. Betty tried to set the mood for a sex night, but Matt wasn’t taking the bait. As it turned out, Matt was a sex addict and had a deal with his therapist not to have sex with a woman until he was emotionally invested. This got to Betty, who of course kept wondering which women around them Matt had slept with. He claimed it was hundreds. They worked through it in the end, but I hated this story. There was no need for this to be put into their relationship. After the mother issues last week, let’s just say that’s enough as is! Poor Betty, Matt better not hurt her . . . .

The previews for when the show returns look great, including someone telling Willy that her baby looks an awful lot like Christina, and Christina asking Willy whose baby it really is. Oh this could get juicy! I’ve been waiting for Willy to get caught red handed for the sperm theft. Now it’s sounding like maybe Willy isn’t the mom!
