Brothers and Sisters Finally Returns!

Brothers and Sisters Finally Returns!

Posted by Dustin on 04.15.2011 at 12:50 pm

It seems like it’s been forever since a new “Brothers and Sisters” episode aired, and this weekend we got two back to back. However I found myself more invested in the first episode rather than the second.

The first episode/hour, dealing with Olivia’s brother returning, was just heartbreaking and wrenching. I figured that Kevin and Scotty would not lose her to her brother, but with this show you never know . . . they like to throw those curveballs at you . . . Her brother was just a nasty piece of work, as it became clear the only reason he wanted to take Olivia was because Scotty and Kevin were gay and he didn’t agree with that. Olivia’s speech at the end of the show as to why she wanted to stay with the Walkers was great though. I however don’t know how welcoming I’d be of her brother if I was a member of that family!

The rest of the show and the second hour, I wasn’t that in love with. I did like Kitty trying to get her younger guy back, but Nora and Brody kinda bore me.

I posted some upcoming spoilers for the show . . . so SPOILER TALK from here on out . . .

I have a feeling Scotty learns that their surrogate didn’t lose the baby after all. It seems he learns something shocking about her, which I think is code for . . . surprise! Your daddy’s again!

Also it seems Justin finds out some paternity secret about a sibling . . . again? WHY! What did Nora cheat on William with Brody at some point after they married, and that one of the kids is Brody’s? I vote for Kevin.

Tara Is Back, Are You?

Tara Is Back, Are You?

Posted by Dustin on 04.11.2011 at 3:26 pm

“The United States of Tara” returned recently. Tonight marks the third episode of the season.

Last season I felt the show just got way off track. I watched it, but wasn’t in love with it like the first season. It did come around at the end, but I hated all the cheating Tara and Max did.

So far I am enjoying this season. If they really ship Kate off I will be sad and miss her! I could however do with a little less of Charmaine and Neil. Finally Tara returning to college is very interesting, and her professor drives me batty! But I love Eddie Izzard. Why however do I feel Shoshana is going to sleep with him?

Not much new in ABC spoilerdom to talk about right now I’m afraid. The end of April seems to be all about the Royal Wedding.

Two episodes of “Brothers and Sisters,” including yet ANOTHER paternity secret? Jeeze how many of these can we take! Oh and it looks like Kevin and Scotty’s surrogate may not have lost the baby . . . . hmmmmmmmm!

On “Housewives” Susan is nursing Paul back to health? What what what !?!?

Finally on “Grey’s” Dr. Perkins returns to make Teddy an offer, Callie’s baby continues to fight for her life, and I suspect Meredith sneaks Adele into Derek’s trial . . .

Off The Map and No Ordinary Family End Their Seasons

Off The Map and No Ordinary Family End Their Seasons

Posted by Dustin on 04.08.2011 at 12:52 pm

Both “Off the Map” and “No Ordinary Family” had their season finales this week. Unfortunately the ratings for both were not stellar, and it is a long shot for either of them to get a second season. Julie Benz and Michael Chiklis of “No Ordinary Family” already have pilots booked for the new fall season, another bad sign.

I really did enjoy “Off the Map.” The show started out way too transparent and predictable, and I think that turned a lot off. However over time it got better, with the character story lines going deeper. All the shades of grey stories with the doctors were great, and the show was definitely more gory than Grey’s and Practice combined. We of course were left with the major cliff hangers of whether Ryan would get her heart and whether Mateo would live. My guesses are yes and no . . . but we’ll probably never know.

“No Ordinary Family” . . . well from the start I felt putting it up against “Glee” was just a bad move. The show started off well, but half way through got boring. I was only interested in Katie and Joshua for awhile . . . not the Powells. That isn’t good. However later with the introduction of Lucy Lawless, I think things got good again. The show ended with King’s death (which was awesome!), the Powells being asked to work for the government to round up Mrs. X’s newly created super villains. Oh and then there was George, who was mistakenly put on the plane and now has his own super powers . . . but alas we may never know what his powers are.

The Army Wives React To Jeremy’s Death

The Army Wives React To Jeremy’s Death

Posted by Dustin on 04.06.2011 at 2:39 pm

So the latest episode of “Army Wives” had the various families reacting to Jeremy’s death.

Tonya has, we guess, returned home to her parents, as she was nowhere to be found. Denise meanwhile couldn’t take it anymore and split with Molly. She blamed herself for giving Jeremy permission to reenlist. Claudia Joy found her checked into some B&B she mentioned she liked a lot. Denise told her she was not coming home. Oddly enough, and I know this is kinda horrible to say, but I’ve been feeling more for other characters on the show and not Denise. I don’t know, maybe she’s still in shock and hasn’t let herself break down the way Frank has, or the way Roland did in this episode.

Roland cracked in this episode. He too felt to blame, and was trying to keep other soldiers from returning to duty by denying their clean bills of mental health. At the end of the episode he lost it when his daughter put on mommy’s beret. It was the heartbreaking scene of this episode.

Michael, talking to some civilian contractor who was assessing the readiness of the Afghan army, mentioned that he didn’t think they were ready and they needed a larger American Forces presence here. They guy talked to a paper about this, and though he didn’t name Michael, everyone in the top brass knew it was him. Michael lost his promotion and says he doesn’t think he’ll get anymore opportunities in the future . . . he’s hit at far as he’s going to go in the Army . . . OUCH! I almost am worried they might be writing Michael out of the Army soon.

Roxy went against Trevor’s wishes and invested in the Truck Stop with another guy. Trevor was not happy, saying they don’t know where they’ll be in 6 months, so why invest in another business? I think this was Roxy’s way of dealing with her fears about losing Trevor. This at least gave her some sense of security, which Trevor’s job could not.

Finally Pamela and Chase decided to reunite and even remarry, which they told the kids. That makes me very worried honestly . . . . I get they have a history, but this is coming on very fast. Maybe a little too fast.

A Ho-Hum Housewives Return

A Ho-Hum Housewives Return

Posted by Dustin on 04.04.2011 at 1:45 pm

“Desperate Housewives” was back last night, but won’t be on again for another 2 weeks now. I thought it was an okay episode, just not an amazing episode.

We learned that Beth didn’t survive, Paul was simply keeping her hooked up to machines in hopes she’d get better, in spite of Felicia telling him she was gone and they both had failed her. In the end, Paul agreed to take her off the life support and give the kidney to Susan. They actually shared a tender moment as Paul broke down and Susan comforted him . . . ew! Don’t make me feel bad for Paul!

Meanwhile Felicia learned she was being released early on some kind of bereavement leave or something. Is that for real? She smiled like a cheshire cat, which means Paul better watch out!

I thought the best story dealt with Andrew coming to terms with his alcoholism. I felt so bad for him that his husband left him . . . and that he didn’t have a clue his “late work nights” were just him avoiding him. I hope they work it out, though the husband really hasn’t been around that much . . . and didn’t Andrew also cheat on him? Hmmm, maybe he is better off without Andrew.

Gabby learned that Renee’s mother committed suicide, which is why she was less than sympathetic about Beth, and Lynette conned Tom into taking a new job and dumping Carlos’ company. You know we just had that whole show where Lynette talked about how she knows she’s not good enough for Tom and she acts out by treating him like crap . . . . then she goes and does what she did in this episode! . . . . Her hair did look great during the role-play sex scene though.
