Glee: So Long New Directions!

Glee: So Long New Directions!

Well, last night’s “Glee” found a depressing way of putting a nail in the McKinley High Glee club for sure. After losing Nationals, Sue kept her word and nixed the Glee Club. The Cheerios stayed as Roz brought home a first place trophy. She nixed it under the guise it was too expensive I guess. Whatever, when this show started Figgins needed 20 bucks a month from Will and they had to raise all their money to fund their trips. However the point here clearly was to end the club and move the rest of the season and next year to New York and focus on it, and by it I mean Rachel. Mr Shue, I will miss you the most of all!

I actually wish New Directions could have gone out as winners and the show transitioned to New York anyways. I don’t think it would have really mattered.

I did love the classic 80s songs that they performed and that it was a nod to Finn. I also loved seeing Mercedes back, and she and more return next week for the 100 episode and to say goodbye to the choir room.

Once Returns And Gets Wicked

Once Returns And Gets Wicked

Posted by Dustin on 03.11.2014 at 1:29 pm

So “Once Upon A Time” finally returned, and it was a great episode . . . with no Pan! So here is the low down on what happened and my thoughts:

The fairytale crew were zapped to Fairytale land, complete with wardrobe and hair changes. Aurora and Phillip were stunned to see them back, but didn’t tell them about something they needed to know. Aurora decided they should tell them, but there would possibly be punishment in store for their baby. Oh yeah, I forgot about that little tidbit!

Snow convinced Regina to return to the castle together, united, to reunite the people and bring peace. Charming and Neil meanwhile decided to head to Rumple’s house to find something that could be of use to them. Hook however was determined to get back to Emma, certain that the Jolly Roger must have been beamed back here somewhere. He set off to find it and sail to Emma.

On their way to the castle Regina and Snow are saved from an attacking flying monkey by Robin and his merry men. Of course we know this is Regina’s future love interest, the one man Tink told her could make her happy. Robin only knows Regina by reputation, so she’s probably going to really have to prove she’s changed to snag him. They also learn that someone has taken over their castle in the their absence. The entire thing is sealed off by a dome. Okay wait, I’m having an issue here. Didn’t the curse not only take half of the characters from Fairytale Land to Storybrook, but also wipe half the land off the map? I swear the survivors were living in camps on the outskirts of the old kingdom because they were the only places in the land left? How is it that the castle and all this land was there to be taken by the witch? I’m presuming the Witch took it of course.

In New York, Emma and Henry have been having a pretty good last year, including Emma meeting a man who proposed. Yes a year has passed since the Pan/Curse winter finale. However Hook showed up to thwart things. He eventually got to Emma with his questions about her past and parents and convinced her to drink a potion to remember all. While she remembered, Henry was still without his memory. I guess they couldn’t share the potion. After dumping the guy she’d been dating, he turned into a flying monkey and was off back to the Wicked Witch. Yup he was a plant to keep an eye on Emma and keep her from remembering. On the way home he also got some of the Queen’s blood (Regina’s) for a potion the Wicked Witch needed to get her revenge. The very end was the only time we got to see the Wicked Witch.

Emma, Hook and Henry headed back to Storybrook. We learn what we had been seeing in Fairytale Land was not concurring along side what happened in New York. That was the past. The Fairytale Crew are all back in Storybrook, but nobody has any memory of the past year. They do know they’ve lost time because Mary Margaret is pregnant and about to pop!

So the questions are: What happened to them? Who sent them back and why? How is Regina tied to the Wicked Witch? Where did Mulan go? Where did Ariel go? Where is Tink? Does Hook own any other clothes? Is Rumple really dead given we saw him in the teaser poster and he showed up in the credits?

Grimm: The Baby Popped Out!

Grimm: The Baby Popped Out!

Posted by Dustin on 03.09.2014 at 7:32 pm

So I’m running out of time to blog before “Once” starts, and I at least wanted to make a quick “Grimm” post.

After MONTHS, Adalind finally popped out the baby, and what a creepy baby it is! She and her protector are on the run from Renard’s cousin, and Renard is racing to protect them. I’m worried the show has or is about to jump the shark with this kid. I just feel like they are going to make this baby some kind of game changer in some major power struggle and will play into some dark prophecy . . . It all seems to be leading to a “been there done that” story.

I’m pissed that Nick and Hank left poor Wu in the nut house and didn’t tell him the truth about that Weson lady! They better bring him into the fold before he ends up learning too much and exposing someone.

I wish they’d get back to Nick’s illness and the strange symptoms he had earilier in the season.

“Once Upon A Time” has been putting a lot of teases on their facebook for the Spring premier tonight.

A closer look . . . .

and you will notice Rumple. Is he alive? Will he still be with us in flashbacks (well duh!). Why do I have a feeling that he’s the wizard?

Parenthood: The Most Gut Wrenching Episode Yet!

Parenthood: The Most Gut Wrenching Episode Yet!

Posted by Dustin on 03.07.2014 at 9:56 pm

So I have two episodes to comment on. First though, the title of the post is a play on the commercials NBC airs for the show. It’s always the most BLANK (word of your choice) episode of ‘Parenthood’ yet. How about you just tell us when Joel will stop acting like a complete ass 😉

So Joel has moved into his own place, which the kids hate, and he’s being an ogre about forcing them to stay with him every other day per the custody agreement, even though Sydney doesn’t want to. Man I really can’t stand him! You walked out on your family, and now have the balls to force the kids to come stay with you even if they don’t want to? Unfortunately Joel wasn’t the only one I couldn’t stand in these latest episodes. Julia let Ed have it for ruining marriage, but her anger was pretty much at Joel and she misdirected it and Ed let her know it. He said he wasn’t the reason her marriage was in the crapper, that’s something she has to figure out and solve. She later went to his house with dinner to apologize, and he invited her in. The idiot then went in to join him. Noooooooooo! What is wrong with her?

Meanwhile Sarah did what Sarah does best, and possibly screwed up her relationship with Carl. He asked her to go away for a week with him to Africa. She initially said yes, but a jealous Hank guilt tripped her about running away from her job and responsibilities. She later told Carl she couldn’t go, she had to make this year about her first. I like that Sarah wants to put herself first, but she let that twat Hank manipulate her to some degree! They are making it hard for me to like Hank as of late, at least as someone who is going to be with Sarah romantically. I hope she didn’t screw it up with Carl.

Drew’s boring sex life in college continued. Why they just won’t end this story and send him away like his sister I don’t know. I think I’d rather have Haddie back over this. Drew finally sent Amy away, telling her she was hiding out from the real problem, the loss of their child, and she had to come to terms with it and tell her folks. Meanwhile his other girl Natalie can’t seem to make up her mind what the hell she wants, and next week it looks like she wants Drew’s roommate. Send her away too at this point!

Kristina and Adam got the news that she was still cancer free after a year. They then moved on to other things, namely focusing on the charter school for kids like Max. They ended up recruiting a teacher of Max’s that they initially thought was being horrible to him by taking his chair away from him and making him stand. They only later learned that he was actually helping Max to channel his thinking by taking other distractions away. Once they realized that, they asked him to help them with their school, and he seems interested.

Crosby and family moved in with Zeek and Camille as their house is fixed up, but Crosby was not happy to learn that Zeek agreed to sell the house for Camille. He was putting her needs first, but Crosby just thought his mother was being selfish. I don’t think the house is going anywhere, likely Crosby will buy it from them, or Adam and Kristina will for their school.

Dallas, The Fosters, Glee and PLL Thoughts!

Dallas, The Fosters, Glee and PLL Thoughts!

Posted by Dustin on 03.05.2014 at 10:01 pm

Monday’s and Tuesdays have become my nemesis. There is just too much on! So I’m combining several show posts into one. I still have to watch “Bates Motel” and “Twisted.”

Dallas
I am still feeling that Elana is being played by both Cliff, and now I think she’s being duped by her childhood friend Joaquin AKA Nicholas as well. Something is just not right about him at all, and even Elana’s mother seems to sense this. Her warning to him not to drag her daughter into something evil was almost foretelling. I think if she had gone to Bobby with what Cliff told her, if it was true, he would have made ramifications. I almost want to think things had been rectified long ago with Elana’s mother, and Elana just doesn’t know it.

I loved Emma showing up Ryland by bringing Judith back into the fold. I was so bummed when he shoved her down the stairs and to a hospital last season! However the big twist was when we learned that Ryland has been a CIA mole for the past 4 years. You know he didn’t do this out of the goodness of his heart. He’s such a crook that he probably had to strike a deal to stay out of jail. Now he’s got a tape of his mother making her own deal with the drug runners, which he could use to send her to jail and get rid of her once and for all. Nooooooo!

The Fosters
The Golden Boy Brandon has been digging himself in deeper and deeper with his fake ID scam to make quick bucks to payback the money he stole from his dad. Callie exposed him, but didn’t tell on him yet. Brandon forced the other guy he was working with out of business, which has him wanting to get revenge. Unfortunately it looks like he’s going to take it out on poor Callie. He’s having a fake ID made for her, and I’m sure he’ll plant it somewhere to be found, screwing up her probation. Callie has no idea though that Brandon did what he did for her and then later his own mom. Awwwwwwww . . . puke! I hate these two! I just don’t like them together, though I know the show wants us to root for them.

Jesus and Lexi’s reunion was short lived, as they broke up. Yawn! I guess I never cared about the two of them, not after the idiotically had sex and needed the morning after pill as they couldn’t bother using protection.

Marianna has a new crush, but when his mom saw them kissing, suddenly he no longer has time for a relationship with her and they have to be just friends. Hmmmm, yeah something funny is going on there!

Stef and Lena are moving forward with using a teacher at the school as a sperm donor. I see only trouble with this storyline!

Glee
Over on “Glee,” at McKinley the kids are still getting ready for graduation, while Will and Emma made a baby. Everything is basically on track to move Tina, Artie, Sam and Blaine to New York at this point. I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw Mercedes also return to NY after meeting up with the kids in LA where they are heading for Nationals. I’m not sure what will happen with the rest of the crowd. Supposedly the final season will focus on New York. The only one I’d really miss of the kids is Unique, and of course Becky, Will and Sue.

In New York, Santana and Rachel’s feud continued. As much as I hated Rachel in the previous episode, Santana turned into a royal bitch in this one and was planning to do everything to drive Rachel nuts and out of the role she worked so hard to get. In the end they did seem to come to some terms of friendship and civility when they both realized neither one has ever had a real female friend.

This episode saw the return to some good 70s 80s and 90s tunes. We got ‘Barracuda,’ ‘Hold On’ and the amazing ‘Gloria!’ ‘Gloria’ was my favorite part of the episode.

Pretty Little Liars
So after the Ezra let-down, we still don’t know who A is. Aria at least saw the lights and broke things off with him. In a last ditch effort to win her back, he gave her a copy of the manuscript he’s been writing. In the end, we learned that Ezra think’s Alison’s mom is A! Woah . . . that would be huge. I never suspected her, but to me that means this is another red herring.

Meanwhile we found out Mona only worked for Ezra in exchange for him leaving certain things about her out of his book, crimes she did that could revoke her parole as the courts don’t know about them. Spencer meanwhile became more convinced she killed Ali while drugged out and drunk that night, but the other girls reminded her that Ali is alive. Also Hannah realized Emily told Paige that Ali was alive. Hmmmm, I’m thinking that could be a real problem after all. Is Paige on Team A? The end of the show had this shocking scene with Alison’s mom in Spencer’s room lurking in the shadows. What the hell!

Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Line-Up

Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Line-Up

Posted by Dustin on 03.04.2014 at 2:09 pm

In spite of the nasty shake-up behind scenes with the co-host swap, this line-up and the return of Maks makes me more likely to tune in than the last few seasons. Oh and the fact I am not working Monday nights for a change! Of course I do have WAY too much on Monday night’s as is, so I’ll only see the first hour.

Season 18 To Shake Up The Competition With Dramatic New Twist “The Switch Up”

The Stellar New Cast Will Take to the Stage When “Dancing with the Stars” Premieres, Monday, March 17 on ABC

This season’s dynamic lineup of stars — including two Olympic Gold Medalists, a game show host, a swimming legend and a teen pop star – will perform for the first time on live national television with their professional partners during the two-hour season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars,” MONDAY, MARCH 17 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

In a first for “Dancing with the Stars,” the competition will feature a new game changing twist called “The Switch Up.” This season, America will be given the power to vote and change celebrities and professional dance pairings. This new rule will affect all couples as they will be required to switch partners at a point in the season. Never before have dance partnerships been split up during the course of competition.

As announced this morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America” by “Dancing with the Stars” hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, the 12 celebrities with their professional partners heading to the dance floor this season (in alphabetical order) are:

SEAN AVERY — Former pro hockey player Sean Avery is known for his unpredictable antics on the ice and a humorous personality. During his twelve year hockey career, he played left wing for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars, and the New York Rangers. Typically known as his team’s “enforcer,” Avery had a reputation as an outspoken agitator on (and sometimes off) the ice. Controversy followed him wherever he played, and he became known as much for his mercurial style of play as for his eclectic interests. These interests led Avery to many unique experiences including an internship at Vogue Magazine, working under the famed Anna Wintour and André Leon Talley. He has been featured in numerous ad campaigns as a model, including 7 For All Mankind and is currently the Luxury Advertising Director at Playboy. Also an activist, Avery is on the Board of Directors of Athlete Ally, a nonprofit raising awareness about homophobia and transphobia in sports. SEAN AVERY partners with KARINA SMIRNOFF.

CANDACE CAMERON BURE — Actress, producer, New York Times bestselling author and inspirational speaker, Candace Cameron Bure is both outspoken and passionate about her family and faith. Known to millions worldwide from her role as D.J. Tanner on the iconic family sitcom “Full House,” Cameron Bure continues to flourish in the entertainment industry as role model to women of all ages. With an acting career that started at the age of five, Cameron Bure grew up in show business alongside her brother Kirk Cameron and has appeared in countless national television commercials, prime-time hits, TV movies and feature films. Mostly recently, Cameron Bure starred in the Hallmark Original Movie “Let It Snow.” In addition, she starred on ABC Family’s hugely popular show “Make It Or Break It” in a three year run as Summer Van Horn. Cameron Bure added bestselling author to her many titles with her book Reshaping It All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness, inspiring women to embrace a healthier lifestyle by moving faith to the forefront of their relationship with food. Her second book, Balancing It All, shares her story of successfully balancing different roles and responsibilities including motherhood, work, and Hollywood. Cameron Bure and her husband, former NHL star Val Bure, have been happily married since 1996. Together with their 3 children, Natasha, Lev and Maks, they split their time between Los Angeles and Napa Valley, California which is home to their boutique wine label, Bure Family Wines. CANDACE CAMERON BURE partners with MARK BALLAS.

DREW CAREY — Drew Carey is a stand-up comic turned actor and producer who had the distinction of having two hit shows simultaneously: the long-running comedy “The Drew Carey Show,” which ran from 1995-2004 and the improv/sketch show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” on which he was host and a producer. The success of that show led to the creation of “Drew Carey’s Improv All-Stars,” an improv troupe that performs in showrooms across the country. In July 2007, he was named the host of “The Price Is Right,” succeeding longtime host Bob Barker. He began his successful career as a comedian in April of 1986 at the Cleveland Comedy Club. In 1988, one of his first big breaks was competing on “Star Search.” In 1991, Carey landed a spot on HBO’s “14th Annual Young Comedians Special” and appeared on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.” Carey landed his own television development deal with Disney, which led to an opportunity for him to co-star in the series “The Good Life.” He also had the opportunity to work with Bruce Helford, who was a consulting writer on the series and hired him as a staff writer for “The Gaby Hoffman Show.” Their experience led the two of them to decide to co-create a series for Carey. He went on to star in his own comedy special for Showtime, “Drew Carey: Human Cartoon” and performed in Showtime’s “Tenth Anniversary of the Montreal Comedy Festival.” Carey was born in Cleveland, Ohio and currently resides in Los Angeles. DREW CAREY partners with CHERYL BURKE.

MERYL DAVIS — Paired in 1997, Meryl Davis, 27, and her partner Charlie White, 26, are the longest-running ice dancing partnership in the history of United States figure skating. As a child, Davis wished to glide atop the frozen surface of the Michigan Lake adjacent to her home, so learning to ice skate at the age of five was a natural choice. They are 2014 Olympic Gold Medalists, 2010 Olympic Silver Medalists and 2011 & 2013 World Champions. Davis and White are also six-time (2009-2014) U.S. Champions, and five-time (2001-2013) Grand Prix Final Champions. Led by one of the most successful coaching teams in the world, she and White have steadily climbed the ranks of the U.S. and international ice dancing world. In 2006, they made their senior debut on the Grand Prix Series. They dominated the international skating scene this season, standing atop the podium at all six competitions they entered. By winning the 2013 World Championships, the team made figure skating history, becoming the only U.S. ice dancing team to ever win two World titles. The second title cemented their place in figure skating history and positioned them as the team to beat at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. When not on the ice Davis enjoys reading, traveling and learning about other cultures. She is currently a student at the University of Michigan. MERYL DAVIS partners with MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY.

NENE LEAKES — NeNe Leakes shot to stardom as a fan favorite on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Her popularity as a housewife led to her own Bravo television series “I Dream of Nene: The Wedding.” In 2012, she was cast as coach Roz Washington on “Glee” and later that year landed a starring role on NBC’s sitcom “The New Normal.” Leakes has also guest-starred in BET comedies, “The Game” and “Let’s Stay Together.” She was voted as one of Entertainment Weekly’s Entertainers of the Year and was the recipient of Bravo’s A-list Award for Fan Favorite. She is the author of Never Make the Same Mistake Twice, discussing her fractured childhood, abusive relationship and struggles with being a single mother. Currently, Leakes resides in Duluth, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta, along with her two children and husband Gregg Leakes. NENE LEAKES partners with TONY DOVOLANI.

JAMES MASLOW — James Maslow is best known as the star of the hit television series “Big Time Rush” and as a member of the worldwide bestselling music group of the same name. Maslow has headlined sold out tours across the globe, most recently the Big Time Rush Live 2014 World Tour, performing at some of the largest venues across North & South America. Maslow began his acting career on the popular series “iCarly” and completed the fourth season of “Big Time Rush” last year. As one of the most popular music groups internationally, Big Time Rush has won countless Kids’ Choice Awards, and a 2012 Parade Magazine poll named Big Time Rush the “Best Boy Band in the World,” topping other well-known bands such as One Direction and The Wanted. Maslow has collaborated with many popular recording artists, such as Jordin Sparks, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic and with Snoop Dogg on Big Time Rush’s international, chart-topping hit single “Boyfriend.” Born in New York and raised in San Diego, Maslow began performing at an early age, training at the prestigious La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, and the Coronado School of the Arts. JAMES MASLOW partners with PETA MURGATROYD.

A summa cum laude graduate of UCLA, McKellar wrote a theorem that has been dubbed, “The Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem,” and was published in Britain’s esteemed Journal of Physics. Her recent acting roles include appearances on “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory.” DANICA MCKELLAR partners with VALENTIN CHMERKOVSKIY.

DIANA NYAD — 25 million people worldwide rooted for Diana Nyad last September as she approached the Florida shore, at long last achieving her 35-year-old dream of becoming the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida. Nyad is not one to quit. On her fifth attempt, speaking the words “Never Ever Give Up” to the wildly cheering crowd on a Key West beach on September 2, 2013, Nyad may have been dazed and physically spent, but she showed the world what persistence and belief can manifest. Nyad stroked the amazing 110.86 miles in 52 hours, 54 minutes, 18 seconds. Daring to reach for the stars, this swim beginning to seem impossible (after her four attempts and other strong swimmers trying and failing since 1950), Nyad has motivated the world at large to be bold, to live fearlessly, to chase one’s dreams with unwavering commitment. The second statement the victorious 64-year-old made on that Key West beach? “You’re never too old to chase your dreams.” And her third statement on that historic day: “It looks a solitary sport, but it’s a TEAM.” A prominent sports broadcaster, reporting for National Public Radio, Fox Sports, ABC’s Wide World of Sports, and The New York Times for thirty years, Nyad has carved her place as one of our compelling story-tellers. She has written three books and is currently writing her memoir for Knopf, due out in 2015. Nyad is a talented linguist, speaking three foreign languages fluently. Purdy is the Co-Founder of Adaptive Action Sports, a non-profit organization which helps disabled youth, adults and wounded veterans get involved in action sports. She is an accomplished motivational speaker who has shared her story with audiences around the world. Simpson recently released “The Acoustic Sessions” EP that followed the release of his sophomore album, 2013’s “Surfers Paradise” that debuted top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and features the Top 40 hit single “Pretty Brown Eyes.” He recently wrapped his sold out US and Canadian Acoustic Sessions Tour and had previously been touring with Justin Bieber on Bieber’s Believe Tour. In 2013, Simpson released his first book, Welcome To Paradise: My Journey published by HarperCollins. CODY SIMPSON joins first time professional partner WITNEY CARSON.

CHARLIE WHITE — Paired in 1997, Charlie White, 26, and his partner Meryl Davis 27, are the longest-running ice dancing partnership in the history of United States figure skating. White, who grew up just down the street from his partner, began skating at the age of three. They are 2014 Olympic Gold Medalists, 2010 Olympic Silver Medalists and 2011 & 2013 World Champions. White and Davis are also six-time (2009-2014) U.S. Champions, and five-time (2001-2013) Grand Prix Final Champions. Led by one of the most successful coaching teams in the world, they have steadily climbed the ranks of the U.S. and international ice dancing world. White is an avid sports fan, particularly hockey. An accomplished hockey player himself, White was part of a State Championship-winning team. Believing education is important, he is currently a student at the University of Michigan and hopes to attend law school in the future. CHARLIE WHITE partners with SHARNA BURGESS.
