Sleepy Hallow Season Finale Thoughts

Sleepy Hallow Season Finale Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 01.21.2014 at 8:57 pm

So last night was the two hour finale of “Sleepy Hallow.” Don’t worry, the show is returning in this coming fall! However if you haven’t watched it yet, I would stop reading now.

For two seconds Ichabod actually wore modern clothes, but then couldn’t deal with the skinny jeans that Abby made him wear. I don’t blame him there! He has, however, become obsessed with phones. I absolutely loved when he told Abby that he needed a new phone, as his flip phone was obsolete! However then when he got a new phone, he had verbal battles with Siri, who wasn’t cooperating with him.

We learned that George Washington made himself a zombie in order to cross over, come back, and draw a map to purgatory that would be useful in stopping the Horseman, but should Malick get it that would be disastrous. Ichabod realized he could save Katrina with it, but destroyed it as to not risk the future of the world and stuff. However he has a photogenic memory, so he could recreate it. Of course he does!

Captain Irving’s paralyzed daughter got herself possessed by a demon, killed the priest that was trying to help her, and Irving claimed he killed the priest to protect his daughter and wife. Not sure where this one is going . . . However after all this time I never knew what his name was. Irving, clever! I know, I’m late to the game.

Abby and Ichabod rescued Katrina from purgatory, which I knew would eventually happen when in the second episode the witch said they banished her. I knew she, like Ichabod, wasn’t really dead. However someone had to take her place. Abby agreed to stay and face Malick. She trusted Ichabod would save her, and they shared a very intimate hug goodbye. Hmmm, I always felt by time he got Katrina rescued he’d have feelings for Abby. While nothing has been expressed, my guess even their goodbye made Katrina uneasy! That was one long and tight hug.

Ichabod and Katrina, back in the real world, tried to thwart the arrival of the second Horseman. They were about 20 years too late. Henry Parish, in a twist I should have seen but didn’t, turned out to be Jeremy, Ichabod and Katrina’s son! Malick rescued him from his grave, and of course he is War, the second Horseman of the Apocalypse. Abby and Jennifer saw Malick resurrect him as kids, this is the memories that Malick blocked from them and why they became Witnesses. Abby forgot, Jennifer didn’t but was tossed in an insane asylum. In the end Jeremy gave his mother to Abraham aka the Horseman who was originally betrothed to her, and then shut his father Ichabod up in his old grave.

What what what !?!?!?! Are you kidding me? Insane ending. I’m so glad this show is coming back!

Grimm Thoughts for 2014

Grimm Thoughts for 2014

Posted by Dustin on 01.12.2014 at 1:19 am

So “Grimm” is back, but so far we haven’t been advancing the story with Adalind’s pregnancy or Renard’s cousin and family much. Renard has teamed up with some other rebel vesson to try and take down his royal family members, but we don’t know their plan and we don’t even know whose baby Adalind is carrying. We do know it has two heartbeats, but isn’t twins. Interesting! I wonder if they’ll come up with a wacky story that it’s both the brother’s kid somehow? Hey, we aren’t dealing with humans after all.

Juliette has become quiet the butt kicker as of late, and an old friend of hers has moved into town. I guess the show decided she needed a BFF or something? Her friend just happens to be a fouxbaux just like Rosalee. I don’t know if they plan to take this storyline with this new girl any further than they have in the past two episodes with her leaving her abusive husband.

The show tried to set up a romance for Hank, with a vesson of course, but it seems to have fizzled for now. Meanwhile Nick’s symptoms from the zombie voodoo experience keep manifesting and getting more and more odd. He doesn’t sweat, his heartbeat is out of whack, and now he has amazing hearing. He definitely has super human powers of some kind. Is he turning into a vesson?

Upcoming episodes finally have Adalind giving birth, Rosalee’s mom coming to town, Monroe’s parents turning up, and it looks like we may see the return of Nick’s mom soon enough. Now I’m thinking we just need to meet Renard’s mother!

Spoilers for the next two episodes . . . .

AHS Coven: A Real Truce, For What It’s Worth Now

AHS Coven: A Real Truce, For What It’s Worth Now

Posted by Dustin on 01.10.2014 at 6:52 pm

So on the big mid-season blow up we learned Hank was a witch hunter, who Laveaux hired to take out the white bitches, I mean witches. However she didn’t even know how deep his connections went. He is connected to a huge order of witch hunters and planned to betray her after the others. Hank’s papa, however, didn’t have much faith in Hank after an incident as a kid where Hank failed to take out his first witch. So Hank’s been working as an intel man, not a field agent per say. So he’s been working on the side as a witch killer, so he thought, to prove to his dad he could handle things. However not only did they know what he was doing, he screwed everything up, especially by falling in love with Cordelia for real. We did learn that it was his father and the hunters that had Cordelia blinded. This seemed to make Hank really angry and take action to protect her, and he went postal at the House of Laveaux. Queenie blew her own brains out to stop him from killing Marie. As of now, Queenie’s status is presumed dead, and we don’t really know what became of Delphine’s head that Queenie was forcing to watch “Roots.”

Marie was forced to move in with Fiona and her crew, and they called a real truce finally in order to deal with the hunters. Really why bother? I mean Marie has NO ONE LEFT. They could have taken her out, but I guess Fiona wants her youth secret. Fiona refused to let Cordelia help after Laveaux told them all about Hank. Cordelia also did digging and learned Hank and his father are loaded, they own some multi-national corporation. They’ve set out to kill its cash flow and bring them to their knees.

We learned how Marie has managed to live for 300 years. She sold her soul to this Voodoo Spirit named Papa who demands sacrifices in exchange for keeping her young. He seems to like babies, and the first one taken was Marie’s actual child. He told her motherhood wasn’t in her cards. Okay someone failed to do their research, as the real Marie Laveaux has something like 16 children. The idea that she sacrificed baby’s was a story made up by a writer (Robert Marret I think) in the 40s who painted her and Voodoo as this satanic cult that sacrificed humans. It was all sensationalism to sell books. Blah! I was disappointed with this. Fiona of course tried to make a similar deal with Papa, but he told her that she had nothing to trade . . . she has no soul! She however wasn’t about to give up, and the Ax Man wouldn’t either. He said they’d drain the new supreme to keep her alive.

Papa came to collect his latest sacrifice from Marie, who had stolen a baby from the hospital to give him. However she had fallen in love with it, so Fiona suggested someone else. They killed Naan and gave her soul to him. Nooooooooooooo! I loved Naan! She was the best, especially when she showed off her new mind control powers and almost had Madison put her cigarette out in her vajayjay! Naan earlier killed Patty Lupone’s character, who killed her son in the previous episode after a whole bunch of messed up family drama. The girls are just dropping like flies at this point.

Also seemingly dying was Misty May, but we know she’s not dead. Stevie Nick’s made a guest appearance as The White Witch and friend of Fiona’s, who she used to try and get Misty onto her side. Madison got jealous and ended up conking Misty over the head at a local funeral they attended for fun, and she pushed her into the coffin after resurrecting the dead guy inside it to prove she was just as powerful as Misty. Yes, her powers have grown too. It seems all the girls powers are growing . . . . strange? There may be something important there. Misty was then buried, but in New Orleans they don’t bury in the ground. They bury in tombs because the water table is too low. So it really won’t be that hard for Misty to get herself out. Dumb dumb dumb Madison.

We still have no real answer as to who the new supreme is. Fiona believes it’s Misty. So does the crazy lady she brought back that Fiona hates. However Madison no longer has her heart murmur, coming back from the dead changed her. The crazy lady also has stronger powers after returning from the dead. Yes, it seems so many of their powers are growing and growing . . . .

Parenthood: Someone Punch Joel Please!

Parenthood: Someone Punch Joel Please!

Posted by Dustin on 01.10.2014 at 6:41 pm

So last night on “Parenthood” the golden couple Joel and Julia’s marriage didn’t just crumble, it completely fell apart. Julia confessed to Joel that Ed did in fact kiss her, but she stopped him and distanced herself from him. She did distance herself from him, but this version seems a little different than what she told Adam about the kissing. However Joel felt utterly betrayed. By the end of the episode Julia suggested marriage counseling, but he said no. He didn’t think there was anything to save, the only reason he thinks he’s even here is because of their kids, and he feels ever since she quit her job that she’s just not the same person anymore. Excuse me? Why must they make me hate Joel so? When she was the workaholic he complained that she didn’t focus on the kids enough and he complained that he had to be mommy and couldn’t work himself. Now that he has what he wants, he no longer knows his wife and it’s just over? Are you kidding me? She should have smacked him, or thrown something at him. Man they’ve made Joel into the biggest jerk!

Max lost his only friend Miles partly due to being insensitive to him wanting to play basketball while in a wheel chair, and saying that was stupid as was basketball. However it was clear there was more to it than that. It seems Miles made some new friends playing basketball and they all make fun of Max, so Miles had to distance himself from Max. This was a pretty sad story all around, but on the up side Max still has Hank as his new best friend! Yeah, creepy.

Speaking of Hank, he and Sarah competed for a job, which Sarah got, mainly it would seem because of Carl’s connections. At least that’s what Hank believed, and probably was true. Though Hank did completely blow the interview. Sarah ended up agreeing to work with Hank 50/50 because he had the space and equipment that she didn’t and was needed for this type of shoot. Hank loved making her say “I told you so” because he also knew she needed his skills and help. I kinda didn’t like Hank in this episode. Next week’s previews show him finally meeting with a doctor to see if he has Aspergers.

There was some filler drama involving Oliver and the band being on the outs. He was basically stalling in finishing the record out of fear of them being received as just mediocre. I will be happy when this storyline is over honestly. I’m tired of Oliver.

Finally Amber had to say goodbye to Ryan, who was shipping off back to the army. She was furious, and it was Zeke who was there for her to help her through seeing him off. They are also dunzo, no engagement, no wedding, no nothing. This is why I sometimes wonder why I watch this show. There is rarely anything happy on it! Yet it still sucks me in. It looks like Amber ends up in a dark place from previews and could potentially fall into her father’s patterns of drugs and booze. Good thing Seth is back next week to lecture her not to!

Pretty Little Liars: Alison Lives!

Pretty Little Liars: Alison Lives!

Posted by Dustin on 01.08.2014 at 9:03 pm

So I re-watched the Halloween episode and then premier of “Pretty Little Liars” in order to catch things I maybe missed on the initial watch. They somewhat seem to be back on track with one of the major bombs of the books, though I still haven’t finished them. I never did get into the “Ravenswood” spinoff.

So the big shocker is that Alison is alive, and she is afraid of -A. -A is after Alison, why we don’t know. We can only assume like everyone else, she knew something about them that she could use to ruin them. The girls realize they have to solve this mystery to bring Alison home, as well as set themselves free from -A. A huge question is of course who is in Alison’s grave? Who was killed and buried in her back yard? Shockingly Hannah takes over as the smart one with the plan in this episode, where it’s normally Spencer that takes the lead.

Hannah does some digging and learns a girl named Sarah who looked a lot like Alison when missing from a nearby town at the same time. She got in touch Sarah’s friends to stage a fake “help group” for them all. Really it was a way to learn about Sarah. We learn that many people think something bad happened to Sarah, but one friend who does not appear believes she is still alive and out there with amnesia. Later we learn this friend is in a deep depression over the loss of Sarah. However it seems Sarah wasn’t that great of a person at all, and seems to be a lot like Alison. If we hadn’t seen a photo of Sarah one would almost think she was Alison. There is also a problem, she was last seen the day after Labor Day, whereas Alison went missing on Labor Day. So it looks like Sarah is not in the grave . . . but then who is?

In the Halloween episode “The Grimwald” told the girls that they had unknowingly led -A straight to Alison, and that one of the girls had been touched by the one Alison fears the most. Hmmmmm, I think this may actually mean that -A is someone a lot closer to the girls than they realize? The girls are also pretty sure that -A is a guy.

Ezra has been super creepy as of late, well more creepy than a guy who sleeps with his high school student that is. Could he be -A? Even Mona seems to be onto his game and is watching him as if she suspects he’s up to something. By the end of the episode he had surprised Aria with this super secret place he scored, and convinced her that it could be their secret meeting place. He didn’t even seem phased when she said she was seeing someone else now. He wanted her! Yeah once again, it looks like Ezra is at least on the -A team.

Toby and Spencer scored the information they needed to prove that Toby’s mom did not kill herself, and that her death was hidden as a suicide to cover up Radley’s wrongdoings. They got Radley and it’s parent owners/company to admit wrong doing and that Wilden was paid off to hide the truth. Spencer’s dad however felt they could use this letter they sent Toby to shut Radley down for good. Toby liked this, but Spencer couldn’t help but wonder why her dad cared so much? Hmmmmmmm. He claimed it was because he hated seeing her there, but it’s obvious there are secrets in Radley he doesn’t want found out. My guess they are connected to the DiLaurentises. He also wanted Spencer to stay away from that whole family. Jason is out of town and out of contact, but Alison’s mom has once again become a fixture in town. She also believes Alison is visiting her in her dreams, not knowing it really is Alison.

Caleb ended up coming back to Rosewood to see Hannah, but then left to go back to Ravenwood to finish business there. Yawn!

At the end of the episode Hannah told the others she had found Alison’s diary at Wildon’s, but hadn’t told them as of what was in it. It’s about all of them, and it’s not good. She eventually shared it with them as we saw -A sneaking into a house somewhere and approaching a trap door in the floor . . .

Spoilers for the next two episodes below . . .

Parenthood Returns! First Out Of The Gate In 2014

Parenthood Returns! First Out Of The Gate In 2014

Posted by Dustin on 01.05.2014 at 9:37 pm

So “Parenthood” returned this week . . . I didn’t think anything but cable was coming back this early! Well I knew “Grimm” was, as I’d seen the commercials. But I hadn’t seen anything for “Parenthood.” Grrrrr! I need to make my New Year’s resolution not to fall behind with TV again . . . it’s my stress relief! Well, this show maybe not so much.

Max finally blew up at Hank, which led Adam and Christina to talking to him about Max’s disease and giving him a book on it. They felt Hank was good for Max, and they didn’t want him to stop hanging out with Max. Hank didn’t ditch Max, but the book was a huge eye opener for him. He wondered if he too had Asperger Syndrome? He had all the symptoms, and he felt it explained his entire life. I actually have been wondering if they’d tackle this for a long time. I’ve always felt there was something off about Hank. I hate to actually say that, because it sounds mean. However he is socially awkward. I recently found out that the number of adults, and even kids, who go undiagnosed as Asperger is extremely high as they are written off as just being socially awkward. I wonder if Hank will be tested at this point? He confided in Sarah about this, who tried to be encouraging and tell him if it was true, he’s clearly managed very well.

Sarah agreed to be a plus 1 for her tenant Carl, who had to attend some charity benefit. However she soon learned that Carl wasn’t just some skirt chasing tenant in her building. He is a doctor. Actually he’s the male version of Addison from Private Practice/Grey’s, and he founded this amazing non-profit that builds hospitals in poor countries that need them. Wow! Sarah hit the mother-load . . . so the countdown to her screwing this up is on. Oh we know she will!

Julia and Joel’s marriage finally reached the breaking point, though next week looks to be even worse. During a school function a drunk Ed tried to talk to Julia, who had been ignoring him after seeking advice from Adam. Joel apparently picked this one time to actually pay attention to his wife, and was not happy. After hitting Ed and telling him to stay away from Julia, he asked her if she was having an affair. Paranoid much Joel? You should be! Now Julia is not without fault here, she kissed Ed back, and when Joel begged her to tell him if anything was going on, she claimed nothing was. So yes she did lie, and Joel gave her a chance to come clean. However if he puts this all on her, I will be furious. He ignored her and their family problems for months now to be the big man at work at have drunk dinner dates with his pretty boss. Joel better step up and take some blame! Man I hate that they ruined Joel and Julia!

Zeke remained lonely while Camille was away in Italy. She even was invited to extend her stay a week, and asked if that would be okay. Zeke met a guy named Paul at a diner, where he went after running out of food basically, and they became friends. Paul made him realize he had an exciting wife, most women their age sit around and knit. Zeke then told Camille to extend her stay and have fun, when he really wanted her to come home. I don’t know . . . At first I thought Camille was testing him, and if she was he failed. But after Paul’s talk, I don’t know if we were supposed to think that Zeke did the right thing?

Finally Drew’s high school knocked-up sweetheart Amy returned, and them spending time together really pissed off Drew’s FWB psueo-girlfriend. She couldn’t wait for Amy to go back to her school, and suddenly acted like Drew was the love of her life. I was never an Amy fan, but wow she is amazing compared to FWB girl, whose name I can’t remember cause she’s that unimportant. Amy apologized to Drew for treating him the way she did, she now knows he was there for her and she pushed him away. Awwwwww . . . let’s just find out if she really gave that kid up or not okay?

We got a break from the Amber and Ryan drama this episode. In the episode before the break though, Ryan realized he couldn’t function in this world and signed back up for the Army. Oh brother! Next week may be the breaking point for these two as well!

Read on for the next two show spoilers . . . .

Nashville Mid-Season Musings . . .

Nashville Mid-Season Musings . . .

Posted by Dustin on 12.29.2013 at 10:11 pm

So yes, it’s been awhile since this aired! I just re-watched it this evening to refresh my memory as part of my attempts to catch up with my shows and postings. This is just some general thoughts on the story-lines . . . .

They shot the wrong person!
As much as I despise Peggy, I wish it was Jeff Fordham the new president of Edgehill that got shot. So many people would have wanted to off him by the end of this episode! The only good thing he’s done so far is threaten to drop that “American Idol” wannabe Layla who exposed Juliette’s affair. It’s amazing how they make us feel sorry for Juliette, who will turn around and become a mega-bitch in the next episode. I did love Rayna telling him the check to buy her and her label out would be on his desk by morning. Well let’s hope this time she can deliver!

Who Shot Peggy?
The end of the episode had some random dude run up to shoot Teddy, and as they struggled over the gun, it fired and shot Peggy. Uh oh! Is Peggy dead? I don’t think any of us will miss her, and the promos leading up to the mid-season finale did seem to make it sound like someone would die. Then again, we also have the Will drama. However as Will was signed on as a regular this season, I think Peggy is as good as gone.

The question that will remain is who hired the guy to kill Teddy? Lamar is the easy candidate, as he thinks he’s in jail because of Teddy. However that is probably too easy. So many people likely want him dead at this point. For some reason I feel it might actually be Tandy. With her father thinking Teddy did this to him, I wonder if she hired someone to kill him in order to make it continue to seem that way? Sure the feds know the truth, but she could feel she has some odd way out of this all if Teddy is dead and can’t speak. The other candidate could be Deacon, but I don’t see him doing this unless he’s on the sauce again. There is also the former mayor Lamar and Teddy screwed over . . .

The Closet Case . . .
Will couldn’t seem to live with being a star and gay at the same time, so he threw himself in front of an oncoming train. Well that’s what it looks like. As I said above, something tells me he lives and Peggy is the one that dies. I still would rather have seen Jeff die out of them all.

The Love Pentagram
This Avery/Scarlett/Gunnar/Juliette/Zoey pent-agle is just too much! I mean I’ve watched soaps as long as I can remember, but holy cow. Enough! Triangles are dizzying enough, this one is mind boggling!

If you are a fan of “Witches of the East End” on Lifetime, head over to Amazon! They are having a fairly good sale on the Witches of the East End Kindle Edition. I just bought it for my upcoming vacation . . . along with “Flowers in the Attic.” I have to reread that before the Lifetime movie!

Note: Click on either Witches of the East End Kindle Edition
or the title of the book in the image to the left . . . clicking “buy now on Amazon” only takes you to the paperback book version!

Once Upon A Time Mid-Season Finale . . . Wicked!

Once Upon A Time Mid-Season Finale . . . Wicked!

Posted by Dustin on 12.23.2013 at 7:37 pm

So continuing with my catching up posts, the mid-season finale of “Once.” Henry/Pan did go through with a new curse, which like the old one required the heart of the one he loved most. He used Felix’s heart, though I think Pan only loves himself. I think he took the wrong heart. But whatever, he cast the curse which would erase everyones memories again, everyone except his. How exactly is a child supposed to rule a whole town though? I mean Regina at least made herself mayor. How was he to get any power?

Everyone else teamed up to stop the curse and return Henry to his body. Part of this required getting the most powerful fairy wand ever known, the Black Fairy’s wand. Who? I’m sure we will meet her one day. They don’t mention people and just drop them. When Tinkerbell believed in herself enough to combat and kill Pan’s shadow, this resurrected the Blue Fairy, who was killed in the previous episode by the shadow. She tells Tinkerbell that she finally believed in herself, and that makes her a fairy once more. The Blue Fairy also knew what they wanted and handed over the Black Fairy’s wand. We also learned, through more flashbacks, that Tink and Hook seemed to have a little chemistry back in the past! Uh oh . . . That spells trouble for Hook and Emma. She already wondered if something was going on between them once.

The Black Fairy’s wand returned Henry and Pan to their rightful bodies, but as always Pan is not out. He manages to imprison Rumple in magic shackles, blocking his magic, and Regina realizes there is no stopping the curse . . . all she can do is counter it. Before she can, Pan stops her and plans to kill them all. However before he can, Rumple reveals a final trick. He sent his own shadow off with his dagger. He calls it back and thrusts it through Pan’s chest and into himself, hoping to stop the curse and save his family. Sadly, it seems Rumple’s sacrifice was for not. The curse can’t be stopped! Regina would have to redo the sacrifice of the one she loves the most, and that is of course Henry this time around. The best Regina can do is change things up, make people happy this time . . . Emma and Henry not being part of the original curse are thus allowed to leave . . . . which they do before the new curse hits.

We see a note on the bottom of our screen “1 year later . . . ” Emma and Henry are happy and living in a NY apartment. They have been together this whole time, or at least believe they have been? There is a knock at the door, it’s Hook! He has been looking for her, her parents are in trouble and she must come with him. She thinks he’s nuts, so he tries “true loves kiss” . . . and it fails. He thought for sure she felt the same way about him. She just slams the door in his face!

So clearly Hook remembers, but then again he was not part of the original curse. Neither was Neil though, so does he too remember? Where is he? Back to hiding out somewhere? And what about Ariel? Will we ever see her and Eric again, or were they too much of a flop?

Is Rumple really dead? Well it seems the prophecy did come to be, the child was his destruction . . . it just wasn’t the child he thought it would be. I just can’t see the show without him. Maybe with the curse being born again, he will return somehow? But then would that mean Pan is back? Please no!

The teaser for March when the show returns shows us who the new Big Bad of the show will be, and it’s the Wicked Witch of the West. Ohhhhhhh no! I don’t think I like this idea once bit. That may really be jumping the shark at this point!

Witches of the East End Season Finale Thoughts . . .

Witches of the East End Season Finale Thoughts . . .

Posted by Dustin on 12.23.2013 at 7:10 pm

So I’m FINALLY catching up on my posts, commenting on the various Season and Mid-Season finales. There are a few shows I still plan to re-watch before commenting on. I hope to be caught up by the end of this week though.

On “Witches of the East End” all hell broke lose. Penelope kidnapped Joanna on Freya’s wedding day and was torturing her, revealing that she was actually Athena. She had borrowed Dash and Killian’s powers when they were babies to counter her spell and track her down. With Freya’s powers, she now had enough to finally do away with Joanna once and for all. Fortunately Wendy showed up in time to help her sister, and like something out of Hansel and Gretel they shoved her into a furnace.

Victor, Freya and Ingrid’s father, had talks with both of them. He told Ingrid that Asgard is real, it’s where they come from, but even if it was possible to return, they can’t. He said there was a war, their side lost, and as powerful as they are . . . the ones over there are more powerful.

He talked with Freya and told her that he had something to tell her about who she is marrying. He saw her with Killian earlier, and he recognized him from the past. In every life she’s drawn to a man, and that man is Killian. He thinks just like her, he’s reborn over and over, that he is her soul mate. This seemed to answer the question as to which brother was the trixster and which was she meant to be with. She broke it off with Dash and ran off, but so did he.

The moment Penelope was burned, Dash, Killian and Freya got their powers back. However only Freya knew what the feeling meant. Freya ran to find Killian, but she was too late. She saw his boat sailing away. Unfortunately before she arrived, Dash arrived. With powers he didn’t even understand, he threw his brother around hard . . . possibly killing him? Dash quickly untied the boat and let it sail off . . .

Ingrid ended up being kidnapped by Mike. He discovered that another key to opening the door existed, and it was Ingrid! He made her open the door just as Wendy and Joanna located her. Poor Mike though got killed by the power of the door, I guess he was mortal after all. However as the others watched in shock and horror, someone stepped through . . . I’m going to guess that the person coming through is their brother Fredrick? If it’s not, they are probably in BIG trouble!

The show returns next year for the second season. I’m going to guess with Penelope gone, they will need a new big bad, and it will be someone from Asgard.
