Army Wives: Evan Is An Ass

Army Wives: Evan Is An Ass

Posted by Dustin on 06.22.2009 at 8:06 pm

This week Roland made a new frenemy at the hospital in one Dr. Terrance Price. Roland has apparently taken part-time shifts at the hospital. Dr. Price was an outside therapist being used by one of the patients in the hospital. He was certain the patient had some kind of brain trauma and wanted an MRI, but the hospital wouldn’t allow it and deemed it unnecessary. He faces off with Roland, who he called another cog in the army medical machine. He said the army was letting patients fall through the cracks to save a buck, and his patient was going to be discharged from the army because they misdiagnosed him with some other condition. Roland made sure the guy got the MRI and Price was right all along. Roland however didn’t like the insults that Price had made.

Pamela was at her wits end because her kids where fighting non-stop and they were stuck sharing a room. She was on the list for a bigger house, but became upset to find she was being moved down the list because officers outranking Chase moved onto the base and were given priority. However a woman working at the office recognized Pam’s voice and knew who she was. Her advice had helped her not to leave her husband when she was thinking about it, and she wanted to repay Pam. She pulled some strings to get Pam a house right away.

Claudia Joy was stuck dealing with Emmalynn’s anger this week. She wasn’t happy with the apartment she found, she wasn’t happy with the food she cooked, she had ditched her old friends and wouldn’t explain why. Claudia Joy felt Roland was right, she was still angry and never got closure over her sisters death. Claudia Joy tried all throughout the episode to reach Michael by phone, but couldn’t. At the very end of the show he turned up at the house/apartment.

Roxy was having a tag sale at the bar to get rid of a lot of the fancy stuff she had brought in. She raised the $8000 dollars she needed to make the first payment to the IRS. Trevor meanwhile found himself in major trouble. His troops were going through a training exercise. At the end they were to make sure their weapons were clear before returning to base. He asked them all to check, but one of his men didn’t and upon returning misfired his rifle. It was Trevor’s job as troop leader to make sure this didn’t happen, so his ass was raked over the coals by Evan. He was basically put on rifle range duty for month and a letter of reprimand would go in his file. Joan was furious and felt Evan did this only because Trevor was one of her men and he was being spiteful. He claimed he should have taken Trevor’s stripes but didn’t. Joan was livid with him though as this wasn’t how the base should be run and wouldn’t inspire the men.

Denise meanwhile was basically still being shunned by the wives, except for Roland who was talking to her (but in this episode just to get her to babysit for him). Claudia Joy and Pam seemed concerned about Denise and realized the others weren’t checking on her (I guess they thought each other would). Roxy however is the one who really seems to be ticked at Denise for what she did, because she herself had been cheated on in the past.

Frank meanwhile learned he was being sent home. He was needed on the base to help with the upcoming War Games. He was also told to straighten out his marriage issues as well. Frank called Denise to say he was coming home, but that was about it. He was cold, short and to the point with her on the phone. She wanted to explain, but he hung up on her.

My Thoughts
Evan really got on my nerves with how he acted towards Trevor this week. I get as leader it was ultimately Trevor’s responsibility to make sure protocol was followed, but at the same time is he supposed to baby sit his men and check up on every one when they also know what is to be done? Joan was right, he did this to spite her. If you read the spoilers I posted for upcoming episodes, the ultimate Joan vs Evan face-off looks to be coming!

Emmalynn was a total snot to her mother this week. I get she’s still hurting, but so are her parents. I felt Claudia Joy bent over backwards to appease her by not having them move so she could finish school, even though it meant being separated from her husband and a financial burden. I was waiting for her to tell Emmalynn “Look, if you don’t appreciate what we’ve done for you then shut up, pack your bags as we are going to Brussells as planned!”

The treatment of Denise is still pissing me off. Denise mentioned last week to Roland his affair didn’t blow up like hers as only she, Joan and he found out. I guess Roland never confiding in the others? I remember he told Denise only to warn her when he saw where she was going last season. I think Roland needs to tell the others at this point to show them they can all make mistakes. Not that I’m excusing this particular mistake, but just to support Denise he should tell them. Roxy’s attitude is the one I’m most disappointed in basically because of her background, well she was originally thought of and considered a tramp. Therefore she knows what it’s like to be treated in the way she’s treating Denise!

True Blood: Feeding On Lafayette

True Blood: Feeding On Lafayette

Posted by Dustin on 06.22.2009 at 4:41 pm

Jason left for his “Fellowship of the Sun” leadership conference and became fast friends with a guy named Luke. However the friendship soon went sour out of jealousy. When he found out that Jason had met the reverend and his wife, and they personally invited him, well that got to him. Then they played flag football and Jason was the big hero. With the reverend and his wife cheering him on, that annoyed Luke even more. Later that night at a meeting the reverend asked Jason to come on stage and work with his wife. The wife was pretending to be a vampire sympathizer and Jason had to convince her she was wrong in her beliefs. When she put fake fangs in to pretend like she’s a vampire, Jason lost it, flashing to that hippie girl staking the vampire they kidnapped. He grabbed the American flag, snapped the pole and almost spiked the wife! He stopped though, and everyone cheered. Nobody realized how freaked out he got. Later Luke said what he did to the flag wasn’t cool, and he no longer wanted a bromance with Jason.

At Eric’s underground torture chamber, Lafayette was dragged up to be questioned by Eric. He tried to make a deal, saying he’d tell them whatever they wanted to know if they let him go. They asked about the vampire he was using to get V from to sell, what happened to him. He didn’t know, but he thought Jason Stackhouse might have had something to do with his disappearance. Eric and his blond assistant discussed in their native tongue how this would be stupid of Jason, but as they need Sookie, they couldn’t do much to him. Eric then asked if he knew of a supplier in the Dallas area. Lafayette did, only over email. Eric said a very powerful vampire named Godrich, who is the sheriff of that area, had gone missing. He said his blood would be worth a fortune on the V market. Lafayette however didn’t know anything about this. Eric then threw Lafayette back into the dungeon, much to his dismay.

Lafayette managed to escape later, but the human worker at the bar stopped him by shooting him in the leg. She was warned to watch out for him, and knew if he got away then she’d be killed. Later Eric, his assistant and another guy (the club bouncer) were in the backroom telling Lafayette how this was not a smart move. Lafayette said they were going to kill him anyway. He then made Eric a deal, turn him into a vampire. He said he could work in the club, and he could shake his ass better than anyone here and would bring in lots of money and customers. Eric thought it was interesting, and then he and the others chowed down on Lafayette.

Eric went to see Bill, saying he needed Sookie to go with him to Dallas to help find Godrich. Bill refused, which angered Eric. Eric said he was only asking out of respect, Sookie and him had a deal so he would be taking her. He said Bill’s refusal was a big mistake!

Sookie decided to ask Tara to move in with her. Tara is still living at Maryanne’s and getting closer to the guy there, but he has a criminal background and didn’t want to get involved with Tara because of it. At the end of the show he decided not to let that stop him, he wanted her bad!

Maryanne showed up at the bar, which Sam wasn’t thrilled about. He wanted her to leave, but she suggested her forgiving him stealing 100,000 dollars was at least worth a meal. She then sat there all day ordering food! As more and more people came in, they fell under Maryanne’s sway. She had the whole bar horned up basically. Sam tried to convince her to get out now and never come back. In the backroom she vibrated quickly, which forced Sam to turn into a dog. She warned him she could do that anytime, anywhere, so think before he threatened her or everyone could know what he was.

Maryanne learned that Sookie asked Tara to move in with her, and she didn’t seem to thrilled. When Sookie met Maryanne, all she could hear from her thoughts was what sounded like a latin chant being said over and over.

Jessica was missing her family, who were on TV thinking she’d been kidnapped. They were pleading for her return. Against her better judgment, Sookie drove her to her house. Jessica was only supposed to watch from afar, but she went up to her house when she saw her sister at the door. She coyly got her mother to invite her and Sookie in so that she could enter. However when her father came home, that’s when it hit the fan. He was furious with her, and her fangs came out. She wanted to get revenge on her father, who had beat her all her life. Before anything happened, a furious Bill showed up. He glamored the little sister into inviting him in. He then threw Sookie out, claiming he’d now have to clean up Jessica’s mess . . . whatever that meant.

My Thoughts
I’m not sure if I like the idea of Lafayette as a vampire. It could be really entertaining, as he is the camp of the whole show. However it could suck too, and not in a good vampire way. I guess time will tell. We don’t even know if they will turn him yet, Eric wouldn’t agree, only that he’d think about it.

The fellowship of the sun story is creeping me out. It was clear Jason was conflicted when they talked about vampire sympathizers, thinking of the guy from last season they had kidnapped and how he liked him. Unfortunately I think the reverend and his wife like Jason way too much to let him leave. Jason’s gunna end up chained in a basement somewhere if he’s not careful.

I’m not sure what is going on with Luke and why his anger and jealousy towards Jason. He’s gunna be trouble!

From the previews it looks like Tara realizes next week that there is more than meets the eye to Maryanne. I hope she moves in with Sookie just to get her out of Maryanne’s house.

I hope Bill won’t do anything too horrible to Jessica’s parents. Well her father seems to be an ass and can die, but not the mother or the sister. Hopefully he’ll glamor them and erase their memories. This was probably the first episode where I actually liked Jessica and could see her being a fun character, not the whiner she’s been so far.

Harper’s Island: Wakefield Lives

Harper’s Island: Wakefield Lives

Posted by Dustin on 06.21.2009 at 1:50 pm

This week the show opened with everyone learning the sheriff had taken Madison, and that Mrs. Wellington was now dead as well. Meanwhile two federal agents were flying in by chopper to supposedly pick up J.D. and take him into custody for the murders, unaware that he wasn’t the killer and was dead. When they landed though, someone dressed as the sheriff greeted them on the docks and then shot them.

Everyone on the island decided it was finally time to high tail it off. They decided to go use one of the boats at the marina to get off the place. Jimmy ran toward the boat ahead of everyone else. Shane yelled at him to stop, having spotted something, but it was too late. The boat blew up and then someone unseen began shooting at everyone. Everyone fled back into a tavern near the docks. Later the wedding planner and another girl from the manor showed up, knowing this place had a generator when nothing else on the island seemed to be working.

Everyone was convinced the sheriff had done it all, but Abby needed proof. She, Henry and Trish went to check out the sheriff’s place. They found a photo of Wakefield as well as maps of the tunnels under the island. That was enough proof for Trish. They went back to the tavern, where Cal and his girlfriend showed up. They said the sheriff had disappeared on them. Cal didn’t think the sheriff was in much condition to run or do much physically, he was still breathing on an oxygen tank. Shane revealed he had seen one on the docks. He also saw the two federal agents bodies in the water. That is why he was yelling to Jimmy to stop, he knew something was wrong. Abby was beside herself, she had never even told Jimmy she loved him.

Everyone soon realized there was another boat they could use (Shane and Jimmy’s, or maybe Trish’s dad’s? I can’t recall whose it was), but it was on the other side of the island. Cal volunteered to go for it and Sully agreed to go with him. They ran for a truck, with Cal being shot on the way. They sped off, but Cal was bleeding badly. Eventually he told Sully he would have to save his life, he’d talk him through what to do.

Back at the tavern, they began to hear someone on the roof. Suddenly the wedding planner was hung and thrown over the roof, danging outside the window. Jimmy’s body then turned up, he wasn’t dead after all. He was unconscious, and they found Abby’s room key at the inn on him. Abby had not given it to him, and they all felt it meant the Sheriff wanted to see her. She agreed to go if this was all about her.

At the inn Abby walked in to see her dad standing suspiciously by a window. He told her she needed to leave now, it was a trap! HE had given himself up to save Jimmy. He revealed that Wakefield wasn’t dead. He shot him years ago, but had buried someone else’s body in that grave. Wakefield was back, he was using everyone they love to off them one by one. She asked if she was Wakefield’s child? The sheriff said no, she was his daughter, always remember that. The sheriff was then ripped out the window! He had a rope attached to his neck, and Wakefield took off in a car and dragged him along. Abby ran out and came face to face with Wakefield, who said she looked just like her mother.

Back at the tavern, Madison told her mom that she had lied, the sheriff didn’t take her. She said her new friend told her to say that. She says he said if she didn’t then mommy would disappear just like daddy had.

My Thoughts
So after all this time it really was Wakefield? Seriously? I don’t know, it seems to be a total cop-out. They could have done much more with this. We already know the second twist will be someone “shocking” as his kid, who is probably helping him. So it’s not going to be a shock, unless his kid is someone completely unexpected like Henry. The previews next week hint that there is another killer on the island as well, which I speculated about last week. There had to be two killers to explain it all.

Jimmy is looking suspicious, and the previews again make it out to seem like he could be in on it. Is he Wakefield’s real kid? That would mean incest love between him and Abby though. Ew! Booth could also be a possibility, as I still don’t buy his shooting himself death. Again though, the shocker would be to have someone like Henry the kid, or even Trish. Maybe they could still make Abby the kid too, as the sheriff’s final confession could have just meant he raised her, she was his daughter.

Madison . . . . jeeze what is up with this creepy kid? I’m sorry, but something is seriously wrong with this child. I think she’s a psychopath with no conscience at all. She’s acted weird from the start and has just been lying and doing odd things. If they ever did a second season of Harper’s Island, she’s gunna be the new killer, mark my words! The child is nuts.

George Out, Arizona In on Grey’s

George Out, Arizona In on Grey’s

Posted by Dustin on 06.17.2009 at 5:23 pm

Ausiello confirmed today that T.R. Knight will be leaving “Grey’s.” He was supposed to appear in the first three episodes of next season, but that won’t happen. What does that mean? Probably that when the show picks up, George will be dead but Izzie alive. Heigl’s future with the show still isn’t know yet either! We may not even see the resolution of the elevator scene when the show returns given Knight won’t be back, just some summary as to what happened. It’s unknown at this point.

In better news, Jessica Capshaw who plays Arizona Robbins the pediatric doctor has been promoted to series regular next season.

Army Wives: Shunning Denise

Army Wives: Shunning Denise

Posted by Dustin on 06.15.2009 at 7:05 pm

First up a recap of June 15th’s episode, then some quick thoughts on the show and future teasers shown at the end.

The Army Wives seemed to be shunning Denise in this episode. Pam and Roxy ran into her at the commissary, and couldn’t get away from her fast enough. Later the wives and Roland gathered to discuss Denise. They were all concerned about her and sent Roland to talk to her for them. Roland checked on her and said none of them knew how to really speak around her lately. She broke down fearing she had ruined her career, her marriage, her whole life. She just wanted to take this past year back.

Denise learned from the news that Frank’s division was pinned down in Iraq and in a shootout, unable to be lifted out or get help. She went to Jennifer, who is the new head of the FRG, to ask if she heard anything. Jennifer was snarky and said she had to know the status of her marriage first. Denise gave it to her for being such a witch, but Jennifer did tell her what little she knew. She then asked Claudia Joy if she could pull strings with Michael. In the end, Frank was fine and would be coming home soon.

Claudia Joy found herself scrambling to find a new home for her and Emmalynn, one they could afford, and it looks like one that is off base. Jennifer is moving into the old house and is already planning how she’s going to redo it all.

Pam started a support group for new army wives who were unprepared for the changes they’d go through. She asked Roland to come for support, but his mind was elsewhere. Roland was feeling down as a former college buddy just got an appointment at John’s Hopkins University for making a breakthrough. Roland felt that should have been him, he tutored this guy in school! Pam confronted Roland later about why he left the group, she was counting on him. He unleashed his anger on her, saying he had a career, he wasn’t some love struck girl who married into the army. She was hurt saying she had a career too, but they all made choices here. He soon apologized for how he spoke to her.

Roxy got the bad news from the IRS that Betty apparently hadn’t been as upfront with them in the past, and she owed some back taxes, which of course now fell to Roxy. The tax some was around 20 thousand dollars! Roxy thought she would end up having to sell out after all to pay that. Later at a shopping store parking lot a woman got her purse snatched and Roxy stopped the guy. The woman offered to take her out for a drink. They went to Betty’s place and the woman unknowingly told her it was a shame what happened to this place, it used to have character. Later the woman took Roxy to a place run by her cousin, a very down home kind of bar, much like the Hump used to be. Roxy got an idea and later struck a deal with the tax man on how to pay them back and save her bar.

My Thoughts
I’m really not liking the way the wives are treating Denise, especially since they knew her problems. They are acting snobby and cliquey, much like the wives they hated in Season One. It looks like Frank wasn’t hurt after all, and from the previews, it looks like Denise contemplates leaving the base all together! Does Frank give her the boot? Is their marriage over? I can’t believe Denise would leave the show, something has to happen to save the marriage (as much as I loath Frank).

I’m guessing Roland will be going back to work soon. Perhaps he’ll open a practice at his house, or take-over Pam’s support group? I’m actually missing Joan believe it or not. She hasn’t been in these first two episodes much at all. The previews show that changing as she plans the baby’s christening.

I still loath Jennifer’s character. That woman is a piece of work! I loved that Denise told her off, reminding her that her husband had never even seen combat.

So what’s up with Roxy? It looks like she’s gunna revamp Bettys. Mini-Spoiler Alert! Word is she re-opens the bar as “The Hump” again. My guess is she’s gunna sell off a lot of the fancy-schmancy stuff to pay the taxes and return it to more of what it used to be – a dump with character.

The previews of Trevor screwing up really have me scared. Does he accidentally shoot someone? Poor Trevor! After last season can’t he be given a break?

True Blood Season 2 Premier: Lafeyette Lives!

True Blood Season 2 Premier: Lafeyette Lives!

Posted by Dustin on 06.15.2009 at 1:20 pm

“True Blood” returned last night with a great surprise, Lafeyette is alive! Well for now that is. First up a mini-cap then my thoughts.

The show opened where it left off, with Sam grabbing money from his safe, only to hear Tara and Sookie screaming in the parking lot. They along with Andy found a dead body in Andy’s car, which looked to be Lafeyette. It wasn’t though, it was Miss Jeanette, the woman who performed the fake exorcisms on Tara and her mother. Someone had ripped her heart out!

Tara and her mother had to explain who Miss Jeanette was to the police, and Tara told her mother that she was a fraud, it was all a scam. Her mom didn’t believe, she felt she got a miracle, and Tara was still an unbeliever. Maryanne came to pick up Tara and basically told her mother off for being a horrid mother to her. She took Tara back to her house. Tara continued to be infatuated with the guy Maryanne had staying at her house as well. When the butler interrupted a moment of closeness between Tara and the guy, Maryanne was furious and later smacked him hard for it.

Sam dropped by Maryanne’s to return something. He saw a weird statue, which made him flashback to when he first met her. He was young, had just run away, and broke into her house. He stole food, then was caught by her. They had sex and she did this weird pose on top of him, mimicking the statue. He knew she was something different, which she confirmed saying “he wasn’t the only special one in this world.” He later stole a bunch of jewelry and money from her. That was what he came to repay, he thought she was back for that. She later laughed at him and said that wasn’t what she was after at all.

Sookie and Bill had several misunderstandings. First she got into a fight with him over the girl living in his house who he was forced to turn as part of his punishment last season. Then they argued over her Uncle Bertram, who she found out was found dead in the swamps near his home. He admitted he killed him as he had hurt her (he molested her as a child, or tried to). Sookie was furious, but they both admitted that they loved each other and had vampire sex at the end.

Jason was taken in by the Fellowship of the Sun. He had read the book the Reverend’s (Newlander?) father had written and was interested. He met the reverend and his wife. They invited him to take part in some leadership conference, where he’d be trained to spread the gospel. However it was $1200 dollars, which he didn’t know if he could get together. They said pray on it, God would give him a sign. Later Sookie came to Jason with a check for $11,000 dollars. She had just found out about their uncle’s death and he left what little he had to her, but she didn’t want it and gave it to him. Jason took it as his sign. He later told a work friend about the church. His friend felt they were just a bunch of vampire haters, but Jason said it was much more than just that. He felt it was a calling and he belonged.

Finally Lafeyette was locked in a basement, chained to some odd mechanical wheel with others. A man was brought down and chained up, someone Lafeyette knew. It was the guy he beat up in the restaurant last season for complaining he didn’t want “AIDS” on his burger. The guy was also involved with the group of town folk who burnt down the bad vampire coven last season. Lafeyette didn’t know where they were, why they were here or how long he had been here. At the end we learned Eric was holding them all. He came for the one guy, to question him about his involvement in the deaths of some vampires. The guy tried to run, burning Eric with a cross. Eric then killed him and blood splattered all over Lafeyette.

My Thoughts
First up, I’m so happy they deviated from the books and let Lafeyette live! The previews next week however have him telling Eric to turn him. Hmmm. Lafeyette did give a big speech this week about how nothing in his life has gone right, no attempt to better himself have worked and he always ends up in messed up situations. So it looks like Lafeyette might become one of the undead after all?

Maryanne clearly is something odd. She’s definitely interested in Tara, and I suspect she killed Miss Jeanette. I mean a vampire wouldn’t rip her heart out, they’d drain her right? I figured from her mimicking the statue’s pose, along with all the Greco-Roman stuff around her house, that she figured into Greek mythology. I did a quick google to find out what she was. Skip this paragraph if you don’t want spoilers! Maryanne is a maenid, a followed of the Greek God Dionysus. She’s a “frenzied woman” who feeds off anger and lust, which gives her power. My guess is she’s setting up Tara and that other guy to feed off their lust for one another.

The Fellowship of the Sun creeps me out, and there is obviously something much bigger going on with them. Also I get the feeling the Reverend’s interest in Jason aren’t for his mind at all. I mean let’s be honest, nobody would be interested in Jason for his mind . . . he doesn’t have one. I think the Reverend and his wife want Jason as their boy toy. But I also think they have a bigger plan. She mentioned something about positioning him for a run for Governor of Texas.

I don’t have too much to say about Bill and Sookie. It seems they just flat out dropped any Bill-Sookie-Sam triangle they hinted at with the end of last season.
