True Blood: Feeding On Lafayette

True Blood: Feeding On Lafayette

Jason left for his “Fellowship of the Sun” leadership conference and became fast friends with a guy named Luke. However the friendship soon went sour out of jealousy. When he found out that Jason had met the reverend and his wife, and they personally invited him, well that got to him. Then they played flag football and Jason was the big hero. With the reverend and his wife cheering him on, that annoyed Luke even more. Later that night at a meeting the reverend asked Jason to come on stage and work with his wife. The wife was pretending to be a vampire sympathizer and Jason had to convince her she was wrong in her beliefs. When she put fake fangs in to pretend like she’s a vampire, Jason lost it, flashing to that hippie girl staking the vampire they kidnapped. He grabbed the American flag, snapped the pole and almost spiked the wife! He stopped though, and everyone cheered. Nobody realized how freaked out he got. Later Luke said what he did to the flag wasn’t cool, and he no longer wanted a bromance with Jason.

At Eric’s underground torture chamber, Lafayette was dragged up to be questioned by Eric. He tried to make a deal, saying he’d tell them whatever they wanted to know if they let him go. They asked about the vampire he was using to get V from to sell, what happened to him. He didn’t know, but he thought Jason Stackhouse might have had something to do with his disappearance. Eric and his blond assistant discussed in their native tongue how this would be stupid of Jason, but as they need Sookie, they couldn’t do much to him. Eric then asked if he knew of a supplier in the Dallas area. Lafayette did, only over email. Eric said a very powerful vampire named Godrich, who is the sheriff of that area, had gone missing. He said his blood would be worth a fortune on the V market. Lafayette however didn’t know anything about this. Eric then threw Lafayette back into the dungeon, much to his dismay.

Lafayette managed to escape later, but the human worker at the bar stopped him by shooting him in the leg. She was warned to watch out for him, and knew if he got away then she’d be killed. Later Eric, his assistant and another guy (the club bouncer) were in the backroom telling Lafayette how this was not a smart move. Lafayette said they were going to kill him anyway. He then made Eric a deal, turn him into a vampire. He said he could work in the club, and he could shake his ass better than anyone here and would bring in lots of money and customers. Eric thought it was interesting, and then he and the others chowed down on Lafayette.

Eric went to see Bill, saying he needed Sookie to go with him to Dallas to help find Godrich. Bill refused, which angered Eric. Eric said he was only asking out of respect, Sookie and him had a deal so he would be taking her. He said Bill’s refusal was a big mistake!

Sookie decided to ask Tara to move in with her. Tara is still living at Maryanne’s and getting closer to the guy there, but he has a criminal background and didn’t want to get involved with Tara because of it. At the end of the show he decided not to let that stop him, he wanted her bad!

Maryanne showed up at the bar, which Sam wasn’t thrilled about. He wanted her to leave, but she suggested her forgiving him stealing 100,000 dollars was at least worth a meal. She then sat there all day ordering food! As more and more people came in, they fell under Maryanne’s sway. She had the whole bar horned up basically. Sam tried to convince her to get out now and never come back. In the backroom she vibrated quickly, which forced Sam to turn into a dog. She warned him she could do that anytime, anywhere, so think before he threatened her or everyone could know what he was.

Maryanne learned that Sookie asked Tara to move in with her, and she didn’t seem to thrilled. When Sookie met Maryanne, all she could hear from her thoughts was what sounded like a latin chant being said over and over.

Jessica was missing her family, who were on TV thinking she’d been kidnapped. They were pleading for her return. Against her better judgment, Sookie drove her to her house. Jessica was only supposed to watch from afar, but she went up to her house when she saw her sister at the door. She coyly got her mother to invite her and Sookie in so that she could enter. However when her father came home, that’s when it hit the fan. He was furious with her, and her fangs came out. She wanted to get revenge on her father, who had beat her all her life. Before anything happened, a furious Bill showed up. He glamored the little sister into inviting him in. He then threw Sookie out, claiming he’d now have to clean up Jessica’s mess . . . whatever that meant.

My Thoughts
I’m not sure if I like the idea of Lafayette as a vampire. It could be really entertaining, as he is the camp of the whole show. However it could suck too, and not in a good vampire way. I guess time will tell. We don’t even know if they will turn him yet, Eric wouldn’t agree, only that he’d think about it.

The fellowship of the sun story is creeping me out. It was clear Jason was conflicted when they talked about vampire sympathizers, thinking of the guy from last season they had kidnapped and how he liked him. Unfortunately I think the reverend and his wife like Jason way too much to let him leave. Jason’s gunna end up chained in a basement somewhere if he’s not careful.

I’m not sure what is going on with Luke and why his anger and jealousy towards Jason. He’s gunna be trouble!

From the previews it looks like Tara realizes next week that there is more than meets the eye to Maryanne. I hope she moves in with Sookie just to get her out of Maryanne’s house.

I hope Bill won’t do anything too horrible to Jessica’s parents. Well her father seems to be an ass and can die, but not the mother or the sister. Hopefully he’ll glamor them and erase their memories. This was probably the first episode where I actually liked Jessica and could see her being a fun character, not the whiner she’s been so far.

  1. Some thoughts…

I think Maryanne’s thoughts that Sookie was hearing was chanting “Bacchus”, which is the Roman god of wine who inspires ritual madness and ecstasy (Dionysus is his Greek counterpart).

Interesting how the fellowship of the sun camp gave out silver rings to their members. Foreshadowing? Those rings might come in handy. Is this a church camp or a boot camp?

I wasn’t sure if Jessica was putting Sookie on and had planned to go after her dad the whole time. I too hope Bill glamours the family into forgetting. He shouldn’t be too mad with Sookie though – she’s human, which includes strong emotions, plus he did kill her uncle.

Finally, what’s up with the new inept waitress? More bait for Maryanne? Just another red shirt (a la Star Trek)?

  2. One more thing… I loved that Maryanne got the cop to dance (epileptic on meth)!

  4. Bachus makes sense given what Maryanne is!

I forgot about the rings, when that happened I thought more of werewolves that vampires though.

  5. I think Luke was upset with Jason because he said he decided to go the camp 3 days ago where as Luke had just admitted how much preparation he had been through in order to go including several years of abstinence. His attitude seemed to change almost from that point forward. I think he believes Jason special treatment isn’t deserved.

  6. I’m not up on werewolf lore – how are rings related to them? I was thinking of the fact that the rings were made of silver.

Penny, I agree. Luke seemed pretty miffed that Jason got in after 2 days, while it took years for him to be accepted. Maybe Luke will delved into Jason’s family history and reveal to their church that his own sister is dating a vampire.

  7. Rings aren’t, but silver is how you kill a werewolf. I don’t know what silver does to a vampire, if anything.

Yeah I think Luke is gunna expose Jason, but the church has to know all about Jason. They want him for some reason, maybe for Sookie?

  8. On the first or second episode of last season, the trailer trash couple pinned Bill down by laying silver chains on top of his skin. Apparently silver is how you rob a vampire of his strength. I think Amy used silver chains when she and Jason kidnapped Eddie. And in last night’s episode, Eric asked Lafayette if he had any silver on him (I think the guy he just killed had attacked him with a silver cross).

  9. That’s right! I totally forgot about that. I never heard that for a vampire outside of this show 🙂
