Mid-Week Reality Thoughts

Mid-Week Reality Thoughts

So this week was the week we knew was coming on “Kathy Griffin.” Her father ended up in the hospital, needing heart surgery. However it turned out he was too weak for that, he wasn’t even able to breath on his own. Kathy had a show to do on Rosie’s R cruise and her mother told her to go. She went against her better judgement. Before she even got on the boat, her father had died. She had to return, canceling the cruise (she will be going on it eventually though). Kathy explained that basically her father knew it was time. When everyone was out of the room he had the doctor put golf on the TV for him to watch and remove the breathing tube from him. He died almost immediately. The day after her father’s memorial service Kathy had a show to do in Vegas. The show went on! I couldn’t imagine having to do a show or any kind of work after something like that. She however said she needed the work to take her mind off his passing. A very emotional episode, which you can’t normally say about Kathy’s show.

Over to “Hell’s Kitchen.” Not one, but two chefs went home this week! Aaron collapsed during the show, was taken to the hospital and was not allowed to return. Oh thank the stars he is gone. I couldn’t deal with having to watch him any more! Once again dinner service was a disaster, pretty much everyone in the restaurant got up and started walking out. In the end the women lost and had to nominate two. They put up Julia and Joanna. Julia again got the nomination because everyone thought she didn’t know the product and wouldn’t be able to cut it. At this point I hope Julia goes all the way! She’s one of the only competent women! Joanna deserved the nomination, she’s been a mess. However a third woman put herself up as she was caught pulling pasta out of the trash to rescue, and Julia told her no. Okay now if there were no cameras around, how many bets that wouldn’t have been an issue? I have heard from people in the restaurant business shady stuff like that happens a lot. Oops the chicken fell on the floor? Pick it up and wash it off! In the end though Joanna went home. Two people I couldn’t stand gone in one episode!

I have never watched “Last Comic Standing” before, but did watch the rerun on Bravo this weekend as nothing else was on. It was pretty good! I’ll probably keep watching the weekend reruns on Bravo, I think there might be something else on while it airs the first time around. I will admit, I didn’t find some of the comics or jokes that funny. Some were good, others I’m not sure why the judges were laughing so hard. I also have to say I tend to have a crude sense of humor, what I’d really bust a gut over wouldn’t be allowed on network TV for sure!

Finally I also watched the new season premier of “Top Chef” on Bravo. Again I have never got into this one, but nothing else was on. I liked it too. I liked seeing the fun dishes they came up with given their ingredients. I don’t think I’d want to eat most of them, as this episode dealt with exotic things like eel and rattle snake. However everything looked really pretty.

  1. I’m loving Hell’s Kitchen! You didn’t mention the incident when Ramsey shoved the egg/scallop (can’t remember) into that guys chest. He was beaming mad! I though he would punch Ramsey. Oh well, it was good and I am happy that Aaron went home.

  2. Last comic standing was awesome before NBC ruined it. 🙁

I’m not liking Hells Kitchen this season. This is the worst group of people the show has EVER had. I can’t see any of them owning a restaurant. At least not one that I’d go to.

  3. I just read Gordon Ramsey is being sued by someone involved in the making of the show for staging a lot of the drama 🙂

  4. Well, I wouldn’t be surprised. :p

It seems like this season the Producers ignored talent and cast people who had ‘personality’.

  5. Ramsey is being sued for his new show “Kitchen Nightmares” which is actually just a US version of his UK show. Supposedly he hired actors and set the executive chef up for failure, but it could also be a case of sore loser. The chef of the failing restaurant that Ramsey came to save looked like an idiot and wants to make Ramsey pay. Ramsey won a libel suit against a british magazine who said his UK version was staged. We’ll just have to see how this plays out.
