Chickezie Sent Packing On American Idol

Tonight the bottom three were Jason, Chickezie and Syesha. I am somewhat surprised Ramelie wasn’t among the bottom, but not shocked that Chickezie went home. I think Kristy Lee Cook’s performance this week is the only thing that saved her. I expect her, Jason, Ramelie and Syesha to be the next four to go home, unless there is some serious shake-ups and muck-ups!

  1. I heard something this morning that intimated “no one would vote off God Bless the USA” – as in it was more the song itself than the performance that would keep Kristy Lee from being voted off this week. While I can’t really argue that point, part of me goes back to the auditions. What saved her in Hollywood was reverting to the basics… Amazing Grace. She’s got chops; I think she needs training/coaching.

That said, I’m with you on the other three. I think Jason with Hallelujah was what we call a One Hit Wonder.

Since I’m blessed to have an iPod I go listen -double click- to both the Studio and Live versions each week (the Live sound MUCH better) once they’re released on iTunes and I think the last four are going to be Brooke White, Carly Smithson, David Cook and Michael Johns. (Dustin, keep track for me.) 🙂

  2. Kristy showed she COULD sing when she sang that song. However I think given the right song, they can all sing well. The problem is when it comes to versatility they have problems. I myself am pretty good country singer, sadly I can’t stand country music and I can’t sing much anything else well lol .

On the other hand, I think Kristy picked that song because she knew she was in danger of going home and thought nobody would vote her off if she sang it lol. Fortunately she sang it well.

  3. Next week is country week so Kristy will probably do really well. I think it’s going to be a little bit harder for Carly and Michael.
I’m pretty sure Ramiele will wind up in the bottom three next week cause I don’t think country music would really suit her.

  4. I agree with Dustin about who the next 4 will be. I think Jason should have gone home last night. I don’t really like his style – he reminds me of a stoned Jack Johnson-type. Kristy will unfortunately probably do ok next week for country week, but she has got to go. I also think she chose the song to save her butt and I also think it was weak to revert back to amazing grace in Hollywood week. Remember in Season 2 Kimberley Locke kept singing “Somewhere over the rainbow” and they told her she was going to have to do something else to be more original, even though she sang it well. I think Kristy will be the same with Amazing Grace. I’m glad Carly wasn’t in the bottom 3 again, she didn’t deserve to be in the first place. David Cook is not my favorite as I don’t like that genre of music (the Nickelback/Daughtry kind) – but this is just my opinion and obviously not many share that. 🙂 I liked Chikezie as he was at least different from the rest but he was never going to be the overall winner so he was bound to go out.

  5. Signing God Bless America was so very calculated I was really hoping it would back fire. Kristy’s natural untrained talent got her this far but against Carly and some of the others she just seems out of place and almost embarrassed to have to sing after them.

  6. Carly is actually the only one of the girls I see sticking around. As for the guys, some of my favorites are already gone. Michael Johns is good. I could see him and Carly being the final two. But personally, the only contestant whose concert I would’ve went to would have been Amanda Overmyer’s. I thought she was fun and full of energy and I liked when she sang Janice Joplin style songs. But that’s my favorite style of music so I’m prejudiced.
